I'm not sure that I've ever had smothered pork chops as tender as these…read more I ordered via Uber and my order arrived within the hour. I ordered the smothered pork chop dinner with a side of rice and gravy and collard greens, and I added add'l sides of sweet potato casserole and stuffing (for an additional fee for each.) Like I said, the smothered pork chops were extremely tender. I didn't even need a knife, I honestly could have used a spoon to eat them. The gravy could have used a tad more salt or chicken bouillon, but the flavor was good and the gravy had a good consistency. The collard greens were really good. I'm not sure whether or not they use meat, but I liked them. I absolutely loved the sweet potato casserole. It was very sweet, just like I like it. The cornbread dressing was good, but I should've gotten my gravy on top of it to keep it super moist. Next time I will do it with the gravy on top. The staff both on the phone when I called to confirm hours, since it was Super Bowl Sunday, and in person are great. It's a cute venue to get together and enjoy food and fellowship. I actually did a two step entering to the song that was playing. :-) My food was enough to share. I didn't want to be greedy. (smile) The macaroni and sweet potatoes are amazing. The turkey wings were delicious. I'll hold on the gravy next time. I like my poultry on the darker side. The number and address is already saved for a return visit. I'll be back Lord's willing. I didn't know about Southern Blues until my work ordered it for our holiday party. It was AMAZING…read more I then ordered it for my daughter's grad party. Everyone agreed their chicken is outstanding - people were actually talking about it. Native Baltimoreans were saying it was the best chicken they had had in B-more. We also got the mac and cheese, cornbread, and the giant fruit platter-all of which were great. The fruit platter was fresh, and the fruit was ripe. The gentleman who coordinated my order (Vernon?) was patient and made the order easy. He helped me figure out how much to order and how to get and use the Sternos. On the day of the party, the food was delivered right on time and tightly wrapped to prevent spills and keep the hot food hot. The young man who delivered the food was equally as helpful and friendly as Vernon. Highly recommend this Baltimore gem.

The flavor is there but the seafood is not. The string beans and sweet potatoes taste straight from a can. No condiments provided for the fried fish and chicken and the servers could not tell the difference between a breast or thigh. The baked and fried chicken was dry and extremely large except for the wings. I was really hoping to have a better experience as this was through catering but my review remains the same. It's definitely giving the southern blues alright.

That's nice but the drink and desert selection was basically non existent so if you're looking for a sweet treat they might have it but your drinks you're better off stopping at the grocery before heading home. Now the food: if you don't want to wait long. ORDER AHEAD. When I placed my order online it was about a hour wait time. Luckily I wasn't starving because that's a bit extreme to wait for carry out food. When we received the food everything smelt GREAT. I personally ordered the maple jerk wings, Mac and string beans. The wings were good, they were a little more sweet than jerky but still good. I was really disappointed with the Mac and String Beans. Normally I'm all for flavor, but the seasoning on the string beans were overwhelming and the Mac & cheese was very very salty. I thought it was just mine but this seemed to be the general consensus. Everyone else enjoyed their food and the talk of the night were the salmon tenders. Our least favorite item was the shrimp. To me paying $13.99 then an additional 2.99 for the sauce for it to not even be fully coated and overly battered is insane. I wouldn't have cared if the price matched the quality.

I had the collard greens and mac n cheese. The Mac n cheese was perfect combo of cheesy and flavor. A lot of places mess up greens but these were just like having them at home. I got to try the yams and i definitely will be ordering all three next time. This place will see me again! I didn't get to dine in so I can't speak to service. But my food was ready when I got there (ordered online), the girl in the front was friendly, and the order was correct. Ambiance is casual, it's small in there. Love a good soul food place!

My big girl (5 year old) enjoyed the catfish bites which were crispy and seasoned perfectly--definitely the favorite at the table. Mac and cheese was creamy with that baked top we all love, and the collard greens had that slow-cooked flavor that makes you feel like you're at someone's grandma's house. We also shared a cheesesteak, and honestly, it was solid. Cheesy, juicy, and messy in the best way. I enjoyed the mashed potatoes and the french fries tasted like they were made-in house. The vibe was super chill, and our server, Tasha, was kind and welcoming. Nothing too fancy--just good food that hits the spot. Def deserves another visit soon!

He loved the fish & chicken- well seasoned without feeling your blood pressure rise as you indulged- LOL. The sides were good. I did the smothered porkchops - WOW, best that I have had - really enjoyed the main entrée and my sides (greens, black-eye peas). Both meals came with cornbread (another option was a biscuit). I have to say the food, the Staff and the establishment has been my best taste of southern cooking in the DMV area. I ordered chicken wings (6) to go for wife & I to enjoy later. Definitely worth a visit, we will be back - The smothered chops are calling me already. Lunch for two with a take home order of wings & 2 deserts plus tip was around $100.

The fish (catfish and croaker) always tastes like it's been fried in grease that needs changing. There's no flavor profile in the food which is weird for a soul-food restaurant. The mixed veggies were absolutely disgusting-- gave them back. I paid $65 for fried catfish with two sides, fried croaker with two sides, a cookie and two drinks---and sadly, the only thing that was sort of worth it was the cornbread, but it tastes like it has coconut in it. I hate coconut. The item that was the most flavorful for me was the black eyed peas/hoppin John (minus the big pieces of fatty meat in them).
