FYI- This is not a full service restaurant. I should've done my homework. The food was very underwhelming and not worth the money. The staff were helpful. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant and bathrooms were clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I wouldn't come back.

Pleasant addition to Bowie community. Stopped by location a few days ago while on vacation visiting friends. Service was amazing. Very friendly and smiles all around. Ordered their Saturday brunch special. It was delicious! Food is fresh, biscuits were soft and fluffy, grits were perfectly cooked. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance is spacious and inviting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] All around great experience.

Maaaaaan where do I start?? The food was incredible, the customer service was superb, and the atmosphere was great. They were closing at 8, we went in just to grab a few desserts. Normally ppl wanna rush you out. The entire staff and owner gave us great conversation and suggestions on what to get. Love love love this place will visit again. A++ Mac&cheese, yams, salmon, fried whiting, oxtails, sweet potato pie, we literally tried everything lol

I re-visited Ruby's today and it was AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS! I was instantly greeted by professional and welcoming staff that took my order after walking past the well displayed food selection. I ordered the Crocker, Mac and Cheese, Potato Salad, Fried Chicken, Greens, and Mashed Potatoes w/Gravy! Everything was hot, seasoned to perfection, taste of GMA, and packaged well! The soul rolls were ok, but everything else was AMAZING! This is my update to the new location which is comfortable and with ample parking.

Oooohhh Mmyyyyyyy F'ing God!!!!!!!!!! If I could give this place 10 stars I would! The food was so good I had to stop in my tracks and wrote this review! Idk where I been and why I haven't been here sooner! They got Carolina kitchen beat and that was my go to for good, quick southern cuisine. I loved their easy order system online if you didn't want to wait inside the establishment for your order you can choose that option. They even have a separate "pick up" section that you go to simply pick up your online order. The customer service was 1 of 1! Mac and cheese, Amazing!!!! Fried cabbage delicious!!! Smothered pork chop nice and tender and the chicken wings are flavorful and falling off the bone!!! I can't wait to come back to this establishment!!

Wanted to try this establishment for some years and finally took the opportunity. Arrived on a Saturday afternoon, between 3:00-4:00pm. I'm going to rate each item based on my experience.. Deep Fried Wings [8/10] - The best protein during my experience. Seasoned well enough. Fried Catfish [4/10] - tastes like it was cooked in old oil, barely can taste the fish. Shrimp and Grits - [0/10] A pool of grease, can't taste anything other than grease. Made my stomach upset after a few bites. Collared Greens [7/10] - Solid Green Beans - [8/10] - Pretty Good Macaroni and Cheese - 6/10 Edible but taste was generic, boxed but better than Kraft. Mashed Potatoes - [4/10] Very generic taste, like boxed/powdered mix Mango Lemonade [0/10] - Water with sugar, Absolutely nothing about it was lemonade or mango Cornbread [3/10] - Generic taste, dry. To be considered "Cast Iron Skillet Cornbread" is definitely an overstatement. Biscuits [8/10]- Soft and moist, pretty good Service was decent. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambience was similar to a Carolina Kitchen, Don't expect a down home southern experience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I wasn't even planning on visiting Ruby's Southern Kitchen... my daughter was getting her hair done nearby & I promised her a lil daddy/daughter moment & asked if she wanted to give them a try. I had heard of Ruby's before, but I'm never in the area, and this seemed to be as good a time as any. Maaaannn. I'm glad I did. Ruby's is like a dining hall style establishment with a pre-prepared assortment of dishes in chafing dishes that you can choose from. They had a bunch of soul food classics, but I was interested in the breakfast. I got substituted catfish in their shrimp & grits dish and got some scrambled eggs, and it was a hit. I wouldn't change a thing, it was a 10/10. My lil lady got chicken & waffles and loved hers as well. I tasted a piece of her chicken and it was seasoned really well too. We dined in and to be honest, our order took long, but it was so good, it didn't even matter. Ruby's made a believer out of me, and I promise we'll be back.

Honestly, I was floored by this place. The customer service is great and friendly. The restaurant is clean and nicely put together. It doesn't have any weird smells and plenty of seating inside and out. The food - chef kiss !! I got the wing meal with Mac and cheese + trinity !! The only two sides that are a must !! The wings were huge and still crunchy when I took my meal to-go !! I would definitely recommend and come back whenever I'm in town !!

Pulled up about an hour before closing on Sunday. Service was on point, the cashier had great energy, solid recommendations, and a welcoming vibe. Ambiance is solid, you order at the counter, take it to go or grab a seat--plenty of space to sit down and eat. Food prices lean high. My girl got the short ribs, $40. My plate was around $21. For the portion, I could've gotten more at a spot like Ella Ray's for a few dollars less. Wings were seasoned, fresh and hot, no complaints there. Cabbage? Out of this world, best item hands down. Yams were okay, I prefer them a little softer and sweeter, but not bad. Skillet cornbread was disappointing, no real flavor profile--not sweet, not hearty, just hot and basic. Bottom line, I will be back to try more.

I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant, it's phenomenal! The most wonderful staff, DELICIOUS food and lovely ambiance make this place a 12/10. Food tastes like it was made with love. The black eyed peas were my favorite! The staff are so sweet and welcoming. Will be back!

Stopped in this spot for a quick meal after I got my hair done. I really appreciate that the sides were made ahead of time, but most of the main dishes were made to order. The wait was not long, but my food was served to me hot and ready. I think they needed just a touch of salt and a little bit more creole seasoning but once I added some salt and pepper and the little seasoning when I got home, the dish was perfect. [[HIGHLIGHT]]You can order in or take your food to go inside is very comfortable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They also have outside seating for beautiful fall days[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Hey friends! I was super excited to visit Ruby's new location as I was a hugeeee fan of their first location. Unfortunately, this visit was subpar and disappointing. I ordered the Fried Shrimp platter($18). The entree comes with a choice of two sides and either a honey butter biscuit or cornbread. I chose Mac and mashed potatoes as my sides. The fried shrimp was seasoned well but overcooked. The Mac and cheese was good, the cheese blend was enjoyable. The mashed potatoes, as you can tell from the photo, were not delightful. Some added butter and seasoning would make them more delightful. The honey butter biscuit was satisfying! Perfectly soft and buttery. Customer service was poor. I was not greeted when I picked up my to-go order. The cashier just handed me my bag without a "have a good day" or anything of the such. Yikes. The interior is large and inviting. I loved the cultured art on the walls. Plenty of tables for dine-in. The restrooms were awful, there was a large amount of toilet paper on the floors. Parking is ample and free. It's sad to see some of my favorites restaurants decline post-Covid. Next time I'll order from the food bar instead of an online order. Hope you enjoy! With love, The Picky Pescatarian

Northern Virginia doesn't offer many true comfort food spots, so when I saw the signs for Ruby's Southern Comfortable Food, I had to pull over and give it a try! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior is clean, bright, and beautifully designed--featuring vibrant murals, eye-catching artwork, and lush greenery that makes the space feel inviting and warm.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was warmly greeted by the staff who took my order: Ralph's deep-fried chicken wings with two sides: Robert's mac & cheese, Holy Trinity greens, and a side of cornbread. The wings were seasoned to perfection--crispy, flavorful, and juicy. The mac & cheese was the standout for me: baked golden brown, creamy, and bubbling hot. I loved it so much I ordered another to take home! While I typically prefer my greens made with turkey (no pork for me) and a more savory profile, they were still a nice complement to the plate. I'm already planning my next visit--next time I'll be trying another main with either green beans or cabbage... and I might just leave room for dessert!

Period…read more I've been seeing this place all over social media, so when I found myself in the area, I had to see what the hype was about. First off, parking is easy. It's in a shopping center, so nothing stressful there, and the restaurant itself is easy to spot. Walking in, the first thing I noticed was how clean, polished, and classy everything looked. Even though it was busy, it didn't feel chaotic. The staff immediately greeted me and asked if it was my first time which I appreciated. They didn't just rush me through the line; they actually took time to explain the menu, how the bowls are built, and offered samples. That alone made the experience feel welcoming and intentional. Now let's get into the FOOD. Everything looked fresh. They have about four rice options (which is already a win), and I went with the pineapple coconut rice. For my protein, I chose grilled chicken, but they also offer shrimp, salmon, and even a mushroom option for vegetarians and honestly, the mushrooms looked so good I almost switched. For my added sides, I kept it simple because I really wanted to taste everything. Collard greens and sweet potatoes. But they also had plantains, and okra....real deal soul food options. Then you get into the fresh toppings. Slaws, carrots, pickled veggies. I kept it light. I finished my bowl with collard green pesto (which intrigued me, and I'm glad I tried it) and added an étouffée sauce over my rice... and listen!!!!! That combo? Chef's kiss. I grabbed a tropical punch juice, and just like everything else, it tasted fresh and well-made. Let me say this clearly: the food is a 10/10. If you're someone who will give Chipotle chance after chance, then you absolutely owe it to yourself to try Spice Black. 10/10. Worth your money. Worth the hype. Worth the experience.

The restaurant is nicely decorated with vibrant colors and very clean. The service is friendly and welcoming. The food was okay. Not bad and just good in my opinion. Its not rave worthy but its still good. I would come back and try other options. This is still a good healthier option oppose to the many of terrible choices we have to choose from, this beats most unhealthy fast foods restaurants. For that reason I would return to try other food options. If you like chickpeas then this is your meal, Im not so it threw off the salad to me. I would have preferred chicken. Honestly, everything came together nicely as one salad, nothing was over powering. I'm just not a fan of chickpeas. They do have an option for shrimp but dont eat bottom feeders so that wasn't an option for me. My tastebuds are much different from yours so I would still give it a try. We'd never experienced in-person the yumminess & what a treat I was looking forward to incur. At this location, access is available for the persons w/disabilities as there is an elevator or the stairs - I often think this is poignant in reviews as it's often missed. We were greeted as soon as stepping off the elevator with great sounds from chatter from a private party, a live DJ (who was doing his thing - a vibe setter), a cheerful hostess & immediately after being seated by a bubbly server who made some wonderful recommendations. The decor is a space where one feels as BELONGING, with culture of art available for purchase. The restaurant has outdoor seating & private areas for availability, a full scale bar & allow me to say this - the bartender was on point with our drinks of the biscotti espresso martini (my selection) & cherry blossom lychee margarita (my son's selection), we had our choices of water & sparkling water. Where things went left & downhill from there was the venue's central air was broken, so there was a household isolating fan w/in a foot of our table which would blow our table contents about & did absolutely nothing for the cooling of the atmosphere! Our appetizer was the Honey Old Bay w/ Goddess sauce 6 Jumbo sticky wings, however they were half cooked in the manner of tough to bite off the bone. Next, our entrees were pieced out of the kitchen and served separately meaning, I was served my choices of Crispy Salmon Hash (there wasn't a taste of the spinach cream or cajun cream sauces - only heavily cheesey in attempt to soften the dryness/fried hard shredded potatoes) & an ala carte of Collard Greens. The portion of salmon could've been a bit larger and the said "hash" less dry & crispy (burnt) around the edges, as it was not one's norm of hash - simply shredded potatoes. The collard greens were not deveined or shucked (IYKYK) and very oddly seasoned salty. My son's entree of The Tail of Two Fish (fried catfish - a bit over fried) w/1 side of macaroni & cheese. Ten minutes later my son's catfish was served, wonderfully sized portions and I had to make several inquiries w/other servers, for his mac & cheese then given an excuse that, "the kitchen is behind due to a larger party being served in the back" and she was sorry - yet hid due to this lateness, instead of coming to make amends or another offering. We were now sweating profusely, over halfway finished our food, his mac & cheese arrived, again oddly seasoned salty. Tips for venue - FIX YOUR CENTRAL AIR and turn off your isolating fans (that's germy - yuck, we did it for you)! Hire more staff to cook equally for private parties and dining in guests. Serve all the party at a table at the same time. Lay off the odd tasting salty seasoning, devein as well as shuck your greens, "southern" hash is NOT shredded dried up & crispy potatoes, & portion size your salmon a bit larger. Inspect your silverware before seating guests, clean up after other guests whom have left from their tables as food remained on the floor at our neighboring tables in view (eyesore). And having to request paper napkins & more water is lacking etiquette, especially when having sticky wings while seeing the cloth napkins on our laps, or no offerings of, if other utensils were needed. All in all, we both have mixed feelings, not knowing if this is a one off, or simply just this particular peculiar location & staffing?! Be that as it may We will NOT chance it at $150, as disappointment is heavy on this experience, although my son & I had laughs for the ride home for sure!

No long waits to be seated or for a waiter to come and assist you. The ambiance is like any other sports bar/pub. TV's all around for sports and a long bar. towards the bar there's additional long/high chair tables to continue happy hour fellowship or group gatherings. (wish i had pics, can't find them!) I ordered the margarita flight and i asked for LALO tequila in all of the drinks. All of them were pretty interesting. I didn't really like the blood orange margarita, but the others were cool. I decided to order a ribeye steak (never had it before at BJ's decided to step out of my norm) As did my Bf. I was a little disappointed when received our food because our steaks were different shapes/thickness, too salty & not properly cooked to our preferred doneness. We brought this up to our waitress and asked for the Head Chef to re-make the steaks. She apologized and sent it back. In the interim, we enjoyed hot honey wings & you can never go wrong with the wings! no complaints, always a solid choice. The kitchen brought us both fresh steaks, and asked us was it cooked to our liking. The ribeyes looked like ribeyes, and rather than less seasoning, it tasted like there wasn't any seasoning at all. It was better than before but not 100%. However we agreed to avoid feeling like we are complaining too much. We continued our meal, paid, tipped & left. This felt like an honest accident as this location was fairly busy due to graduation season in the area. I also felt like I couldn't expect steakhouse quality from a tavern-styled restaurant. Moreover, it's BJ's food is good for what you get. I do enjoy BJ's, I do enjoy sticking to the food I know from there, and will see myself visiting again.

I arrived around 10 p.m. and honestly the highlight of my visit was the non alcoholic Blushing sangria. It was really good. I ordered the Steakhouse wedge salad, medium rare, but for some reason they were not able to deliver the steak at the temperature I requested. It came out medium well and the one piece I tried was extremely tough. I ended up sending the entire dish back. BJs does have a late night happy hour with some decent appetizers and drink options. They also offer a five dollars for five wings special, so I tried the dill pickle ranch dry rub wings which were actually good. That is all I ate for the evening. My date ordered the jambalaya which was okay and the lemon pepper wings. Service was the main downfall because everything took a while and our server could have checked on us more often. Overall the food was decent. P.S Bring back the Casamigos sparkling sangria.
