I should have stayed with the black bean soup. Our server was terrific. Tall, blonde and used to work at the Isaac's at Queensgate before it closed. Can't think of her name, unfortunately. She's a great server. Everyone seemed happy with their meals. But I think my sandwich could have been improved with more turkey in it. Prices have gone up gone up, yet again, and it was a skimpy sandwich, to say the least. More of the dressing than anything else, sadly. Sometimes you go for the companionship. This was one of those times.

It was a not even close. Fatty, barely warm and flavorless. It felt like something you'd get in a budget frozen dinner. The chicken? Over-cooked and the coating, whatever it was so thick and salty, it was inedible. The vegetables were actually okay and the mashed potatoes were meh but at least we could eat them without worrying about being bombarded with salt. In fact, they could have used some seasoning. What was presented to the bride and groom on their tasting plate was absolutely not what The Festive Board delivered on the wedding day. This company should refund them their money. Be warned, what you see when they're trying to get a contract is not what you get on the day of your wedding.

Ordering was fast enough and I went with the Hook & Ladder. It took a while for my food to be ready, but they were not that busy. One of the Freestyle machines was also out of order. As with many places, Firehouse Subs isn't the cheapest place to get a sub, but they are delicious. This one does need a little work, however.

I just started working here in Downtown York and over the past 2 weeks have been trying the different restaurants in the area. The Stage Deli is by far my favorite. There were two other customers talking to each other while we were eating. One of them was a (very) loud talker and the owner quietly and discretely went up to her and said he could hear her across the dining room and reminded her other people (us) were eating and would she please lower her voice. He did this with sensitivity and respect but it worked and we were able to enjoy the remainder of our meals in peace. When the loud talker left, we thanked the owner and told him we had never seen anyone do such a thing before. That was just awesome! The sandwiches and soup are so amazing and it's wonderful to support a small, local business.
