My review is a great on the food but terrible on the staff. So here goes. The good - It was our first time there yesterday. We got the chicken corn soup and hunter stew soup and a turnover. The food is amazing. The soups were sooooo good. The sandwiches look amazing and they even have this awesome fresh cannoli setup! I would absolutely recommend it to anyone. The bad - I am deaf and depend on my hubby to help me in unfamiliar surroundings. I was standing by the food display and said to him out loud "Where do I stand to get service?" as I was reading his lips across the room. The next thing I know a lady behind the counter is chastising me very loudly about how she is with a customer and "WHEN SOMEONE CAN GET TO YOU THEY WILL." It was embarrassing for me, to say the least. I was asking my husband a question and here she is literally chastising me in front of everyone. My husband steps in to say "She's deaf and was asking me" and that's when I went and hid in the last table in the back. I was hoping that I found a place I could go during the week on my own when my husband travels for work. But I doubt I would go there alone after this. read more

If I could give them 0 stars I would but I have to give them one. I attended the Philly Wedding Expo with my Great-Niece and The Festive Board impressed us. The sample food was incredible and the employees there were wonderful to talk to. Fast forward to the wedding on May 22nd at Drumore Mill. The staff was friendly and did a great job getting food out to everyone, but the food was abysmal. It was the worst I've ever encountered at an event. The beef was supposed to be smoked brisket. It was a not even close. Fatty, barely warm and flavorless. It felt like something you'd get in a budget frozen dinner. The chicken? Over-cooked and the coating, whatever it was so thick and salty, it was inedible. The vegetables were actually okay and the mashed potatoes were meh but at least we could eat them without worrying about being bombarded with salt. In fact, they could have used some seasoning. What was presented to the bride and groom on their tasting plate was absolutely not what The Festive Board delivered on the wedding day. This company should refund them their money. I was initially so impressed by The Festive Board when I met Ed and his wife at a bridal expo over a year before my wedding. They seemed like the full package -- food, dessert, bartenders, mixers, garnishes, and even a day-of/month-of coordinator who would help with vendors and décor. That service was a huge reason I chose them. Leading up to the wedding, communication and planning went smoothly. However, things began to unravel the day before. My coordinator, Taylor, was supposed to attend our rehearsal, which had been confirmed weeks in advance, but she never showed. Thankfully, my venue coordinator stepped in. Taylor apologized and was ready to help the next day, but unfortunately, many other issues followed. On the wedding day itself, the appetizers were served cold, the grazing table was disappointing (boxed crackers and Tostitos), and we ran out of mixers provided by the caterer. The bar didn't even have water available for guests when one overheated -- only lemonade. Servers were unprofessional at times, including one who rested a bussing tub on a guest's chair and spilled dishes and food. The buffet food was lukewarm at best. The Kona beef was dried out, and the quality overall reminded me of frozen dinners. Shockingly, one server dropped the serving spoon for the mac and cheese and continued serving guests with his gloved hand until a groomsman stopped him. Dessert service was equally mishandled -- only one of the two sheet cakes was cut and served, meaning guests who wanted vanilla never got any. The gluten-free and vegan cupcakes I ordered (with signage) were mixed up and served without any allergy notice after the sign was removed. I never signed the "satisfaction" form I was handed at the end of the night because so many responsibilities and expectations were not met -- and no one from The Festive Board has reached out since to follow up. I truly wish this had been a positive experience, but The Festive Board fell short in food quality, professionalism, and attention to detail. My wedding day was still wonderful thanks to our family, friends, and venue team, but I would not recommend this caterer based on how many things went wrong that could have been avoided. read more

I'll say this for them - they're consistent. Never fail to disappoint. After losing count of attempts to pay a visit, only to find them closed again and again, I surprisingly found them open on a Saturday to try an Italian sub. I don't thoughtlessly exaggerate when I say it was one of the worst subs I can remember. To be fair, I bought a pre-made one from the cold case, not freshly made, which may have contributed to the soggy yet stale roll and wilted lettuce, but it doesn't account for the stingy portion of ingredients, the ridiculous bread-to-ingredient ratio (way too much bread) and strange sour flavor (though I don't believe it had gone bad). The bready roll was very inauthentic- something you could pick up at any food store. Even your average lowly ma & pa sub shop knows to *scoop* the center of the roll out. Had I seen the meat and cheese, I wouldn't have paid the nine bucks for it, but they were completely obscured by the overly abundant lettuce and mushy tomato slices. By design, I'm sure. I'm fairly certain one of the meats was bologna (on an *Italian* sub mind you). There is no love in what these folks make- maximizing profit is the only concern. Go to *any* grocery store deli section and pick up their pre-made sub. It will almost certainly be superior in *every* way - and half the price. This is allegedly a high-end deli. This is sad because we live in an area so devoid of good Italian delis. This place ostensibly has all the makings of one, but drops the ball hard on such an Italian deli essential. Between this, the odd hours and what appears to be some rather poor management (judging from other reviews) I hope they get some outside consulting to get their act together. Do not let them cater, just don't. You'll think how great it is that they're way cheaper and the owner will talk a great game but they suck man (messed up two dishes for people that have crazy bad allergies and it could've killed them if they ate it and we also let festive know in advanced). They're cheap cause they suck, easiest way to put it. I'm a normal dude and I'm not rich so I'm not used to anyone catering to me so I hope anyone that reads this understands. Please do not use them. TLDR: look elsewhere for your catering needs. Festive Board is unprofessional and unwilling to help with minor issues. I was very disappointed in the quality of service from Festive Board (FB), specifically from a few members of their staff, Chuck in particular. On your wedding day, there will always be snafus but vendors that choose to go the extra mile really make your day special. Unfortunately, Chuck close to be spiteful instead of helpful. We let FB know ahead of time we would have rented silverware, as FBs silverware looked pretty worn. Unfortunately when the silverware was delivered by the rental company, it arrived spotty and dirty. With a short amount of time left before guests arrive, we hastily decided FBs worn silverware was the better choice than the dirty rented ones and we asked Chuck if we could switch them back. He was angry with our decision to switch silverware and refused to allow us to use the FB worn silverware. Note that we had paid for this service and silverware is included. This created a problem for us in the schedule, as we had an hour and half til dinner service and no silverware for our guests. Chuck's pride was more important than ensuring a smooth wedding day. Thankfully, we had other lovely vendors onsite that stepped in to assist. They offered to drive to Costco and buy disposable silverware so our guests didn't have to eat with their hands. I am genuinely surprised that Festive Board would have rather had guests unable to eat than to accommodate a very minor request, that would have added perhaps 15 minutes onto their time. In addition, Chuck and his staff continued to make nasty comments through the dinner service and several of my guests commented on their unprofessional behavior. Here are a few other details that were not as jarring but still took away from the big day: - Ignored instructions to keep glass on tables and napkins on tables - Did not provide extra linens even though they confirmed they would - Did not ask what could be thrown away or kept, I printed expensive programs for guests to take home and FB threw them all out. - Did not provide the linens required, as I was missing a few and two arrived shorter than needed (though that was quickly remedied) - At one point Chuck actually yelled at me and raised his voice when I asked for a plate for the bride and groom - We paid for hot water for coffee and tea but it was not made available readily and guests had to wait a long time When you add everything up, I would say it was a very disappointing experience. And it wasn't cheap. I would not recommend Festive Board for your event. There are lots of options, look elsewhere. read more

We used the catering service for a wedding. The food and bar service were terrible. We were promised two bartenders, and only one was provided. Imagine a cocktail hour with the entire wedding waiting in line for a drink. Bartender did not find a corkscrew for at least an hour, had minimal mixers, so people were not able to get chosen drinks when they finally got up to the bar. (no Gingerale, cranberry juice...) Appetizers were not good, nicest thing I can say. Dinner - meat was dry, carrots hard. Salad was a portion so small I thought somebody had already eaten most of mine when I sat down. It truly felt appeared that the dinners were made a day or two ahead of time and heated up to barely recognizable. It took a very long time to serve guests. There was a bar/restaurant next to our hotels. Most of the wedding guests that stayed were at that restaurant after the reception because they were so hungry /could not eat their dinners because the taste was so poor. We were totally embarrassed and are trying not to let it ruin the entire wedding. read more

I love this place! It's a cute little deli with so many options! You can choose from a sandwich on their menu or make your own. They also have a WIDE variety of other options such as pastas, salads, etc! They also have so many dessert options. I had an interview and was hired on that day then the owner called me asking if id do catering i said yes and he stated someone would contact me asap and i never heard anything i called 4 weeks in a row and got no answers and when i talk to someone they are all clueless in there. Okay. I love subs and hoagies and always have trouble finding a place that makes a decent sandwich. I like them piled high but I'm more a fan of quality (flavor) than quantity. After reading some of the reviews here and watching a matinee at the nearby Franks Theater, I thought I would try it. The effervescent server who took my order gave me a free small container of chicken salad to take home. I tried one of their specialty sandwiches: the Grinder sub with heated mortadella, capicola, provolone, genoa salami, lettuce, tomato, onions, peppers, oil and spices. Brought to me on one of their homemade rolls, it was one of the most flavorful subs I ever ate. They bake all of their own breads fresh and use high quality meats and cheeses. Piled high? No. But high on flavor? Yes. It is located in a hole-in-the-wall at the bend in the Queensgate shopping center, but I've learned from "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" that some of the best places to eat freshly prepared foods are in places like this. I just recently left the festive board as an employee. I started at the company in june of two thousand twenty three. I was hired on as a supervisor that needed to go through training in order to gain the position and the money offered for said position. It is now October and I am still waiting. I decided to leave the company and go my Own way. When it came time for me to collect, pay I was unable to receive it with no good explanation. After every event, there is a little more than three weeks wait for that check. We must call a day in advance for the check To be written then go to the owner's residence and pick up the check in an envelope from a crockpot.If the pay out is on Thursday you call Wednesday but no checks are written from th-mon. So you never get paid when you should. I am owed pay up untill late nov.2023.Ed and Deb are owners and partners in crime who will cut you at any cost. Always with the excuses of how much work they have on their plates and how many jobs they have to do as well as the multiple hats they wear. And let's not forget Ed who likes to speak to his employees while drunk all the while attempting to place blame on you for their Own incompetence. Holding tightly to the victim card. Used them for our Wedding and will never use them again and not recommend them to anyone. Our day was perfect minus this company. If I could give them 0 stars I would. We had our 30 day with someone named Nikki. Send her info we were suppose to and never heard a word back. The Tuesday the week of we were handed off to another planner from their company, had to resend and go through everything with her again. Plus the week before they tried to blame our venue who we are close friends with now and do roasted pigs all the time onsite that they didn't want it there. When it was Festive Board's lack of planning and logistics about planning it. So instead of being honest and pointing out their mistake they blamed them. How are you going I carve a pig and serve it to 150 people in less than an hour? So it ended up being pull off site and brought on after we paid the extra for being roasted onsite. Haven't been contacted or any word in a refund on their mistake. Cocktail hour there was only 3 trays of food brought out and they told people " that's all what the bride ordered". When we ordered enough for 150 people. We arrived half way through cocktail hour the bar line was insane long and they were out of food already. We never even got to see or try any of our cocktail hour food. They were under staffed with only 1 bartender which lead to long lines and people waiting. They took forever to serve a plated meal with only 3 servers. Our head tables were done eating before guest even got their food which is why we chose plates over buffet dinner. Never refilled water. Oh and they even closed down the bar at dinner to use the bartender to serve food "because the bride said so" which I never did. Dinner rolls were so hard you could have used them as a hockey puck. One of our bridesmaids found a plastic bread tie in her food with a use by date of 6/15. Our wedding was 6/22. Way to use out dated food to save a buck! The salad was awful I had three pieces of lettuce on mine and the rest was all cucumbers. My husbands was all cucumbers and tomatoes. I didn't think it was that hard to make a salad. We were out greeting our guest and they just threw our food at the table and didn't tell us. So it sat till it was cold! The plate presentation looked like a 2 year olds art project everything was just thrown and slopped onto the plate. We were promised left overs and we got none! We had about 20 guest that were accounted for, for dinner who didn't show or had to leave for work after the ceremony! So where was all that extra food? STAY AWAY from them! And the you won a 1000 off from the bridal show is a sham they use it for everyone! You get pressured into saying yes to them, and if you don't when you meet with them you lose the 1000. Plus they offer you a paid in full now discount that you have to decide on that min or you lose it. I wish I would have done my home work before choosing this company. After having the owners wife call me screaming at me on the phone about my review on the knot which is the same as up here. They have yet to apologize about anything but still blame everyone and everything else for the issues we had. She keeps saying my husband said everything was fine. We didn't know if the issues at the end of the night till after when people brought stuff to our attention. Since no one wanted to say anything and ruin our day. If I could rank them lower, I would. The staff is highly unprofessional and served RAW chicken (which, they have yet to acknowledge or even apologize for) during our wedding and other highly disappointing appetizers, including mini grilled cheeses that were simply burnt pieces of toast with no cheese in them. As an establishment that prides themselves on sandwiches and cheeses, you'd think that these would be salvaged but, no. They also charged us for a Nova Scotia smoked salmon served atop cucumber rounds with dill (and reassured us that they understood our requests) but instead, we wound up with a weird salmon cream cheese on toast, which was never discussed or approved. When I sent my email complaint, Deb immediately accused us of lying because we didn't address the issues during our wedding. I'd like to also add that neither Deb or her husband were on site during our wedding. Besides the fact that weddings are supposed to be a happy occasion and move SO quickly, we had other wedding festivities to attend to that day and the next few days as we are not locals. Also, my husband and I did not have the chicken the day of our wedding so were unable to make that complaint in person. I did, however, ask the staff what the burnt pieces of toast ("the grilled cheese") and salmon cream cheese toasts ("nova smoked salmon cucumber rounds") were because they were not what I had requested and I had no idea what they were supposed to be. That said, we had wondered why we had SO much chicken leftover. Well, in splitting up among our families we found out why. Far too many pieces were extremely undercooked and some, raw. When I sent the photo of the raw chicken to Deb, she claimed that the chicken was smoked (judge for yourselves, Yelp) and it's OK for chicken to be pink. It's been more than two months of us going back and forth with them on making it right and they have yet to acknowledge our requested refund amount. And now, they have just taken to ignoring us. We agreed to meet with them to discuss our unpleasant experience (at a time they chose and worked for them, my husband turned down overtime to meet with them), only to have them cancel the day of and not return any messages to reschedule. Their customer service is awful... expect great service until you have any type of complaint and you will be harassed (called my husband at least six times in a row within 2 minutes) and told lies about your own guests. HORRIBLE customer service for how much you are giving them! We used Festive Board for our May, 2019 wedding. Big mistake!! We had met with Festive Board a year before our wedding date, showered with gifts and samplings and had decided we wanted to do a pizza buffet along with sides and appetizers. Our menu was to be as follows: cheese, crackers, fruit and veggies served during cocktail hour. Pizza buffet (4 types of pizza), salad, cream of crab soup, pasta salad and beverages. We paid for an expected attendance of 125 people. We ended up having only 100 people attend, knowing we would (should have) ended up with a significant amount of leftovers. We were ok with this knowing we had already paid in full for 125. Appetizers: There was only a small sampling, if that, of fruits made available. As the bride and groom, we were provided one plate for the two of us with one strawberry and a few grapes. Most of our guests said they did not get any fruits.. only vegetables and cheese was available when they entered the reception site. In all of our pictures from the photographer from the start of appetizers until we entered, there are no fruits on the cocktail table. Meal: Pizza was brought in cold and they attempted to heat the pizza up with heating lamps, while trying to serve the guests. You could tell the pizza was made at least the day before and did not taste any way near what we sampled when we first booked. The cream of crab soup was not cream of crab. Any typical cream of crab would be white in color/milky looking... this was brown, looked like they used broth instead. Definitely nothing close to a cream of crab. We had also used a family friend to provide chicken wings for us, which was what everyone ended up eating instead of the pizza we paid a lot for. We left with A LOT of left over pizza (and many complaints on the taste/freshness of the pizza). The staff said they were told they could take home some of the leftovers.. I was fine with them taking the pizza as no one at our reception wanted any of it, but they also took the remaining wings which were not even provided by them, leaving us with none. We tried contacting our initial contact, Nikki, about our unsatisfactory food service, and were told she would forward to the manager to contact us. After another attempt to contact and resolve, we have yet to hear anything back, 3 months after the wedding. Please don't waste your hard earned money here. We are disappointed that so many of our guests left our reception to eat elsewhere and had so many negative comments to make about our caterer. The only positive to this was that the staff that was at our reception was very polite and did a wonderful job at adding decorative touches to the buffet, making the presentation of the food the only good thing about it. read more

Still like this deli but had some probelm my last visit. Ordered an Italian Grinder and beef noodle soup special with a side of Creme de menthe cake. First the pros: Soup was fresh, homemade tasting and hot. Sandwich had great premium cold cuts full of flavor. Cake was moist and dense. Now the cons: Could only find 1 piece of beef in soup, at $8 bucks humor me with at least two! Bread on sandwich was rock hard, had to discard the top of my sandwich. No mint taste whatsoever in the cake? Did I miss something with the Creme de menthe thing? Order was to go..no silverware or napkins included. Had to pop into neighboring business to get silverware.. The Festive Board catered my daughter's engagement party for 45+ people in our home. The hors d'oeuvres were delivered to our home on time, easily labeled, and with instructions for each, just like we discussed when ordering. All the guests loved the very tasty hors d'oeuvres. The Festive Board was very accommodating allowing us to adjust the total number of guest (40 to 45+) and to add our own foods too. We ordered the scallops wrapped in bacon (wonderful!), sweet & sour meatballs, (not too heavy on the sweet - great), stuffed Jalapenos, stuffed mushrooms, and the bruschetta with toast points. Everything was great. We had met The Festive Board at a bridal show in September and they were able to meet our needs for Nov. 17. Thanks so much! read more

My wife and I had Festive Board cater our wedding. The food was amazing! I was so amazed at the level of detail Festive Board went to for our special day! They took care of the linens, provided plateware and flatware, and even set up my centerpieces! During our initial meeting Ed assured my wife and I that once we picked out our menu and linens they would take care of the rest and we had nothing to worry about, we was right! I have used Festive Board for several work functions including a large scale meal that spanned over four event times. Their attention to detail for the luncheon spreads was immaculate, much more preferred to something that comes semi-smushed in wrappers and layered in cardboard boxes etc. The large event went off perfectly. They came on site several times to ensure that the event went off as smoothly as possible. They were efficient, professional and we had so many compliments about the quality and quantity of food that was provided. From large scale event (well over a thousand guests) to quality sandwiches to grab for lunch, not to mention the baked goods, Festive Board is a local gem. read more

I ate at The Festive Board about 6 weeks ago on a trip to the York area for some antiquing. I had found it on Yelp and was excited to try it due to the reviews. I wish I could say something positive about the food but honestly the sandwich I had was such an utter disappointment that it's impossible to do so. I ordered a simple egg salad sandwich which was tasteless, VERY runny...it literally fell apart before I could finish eating it. And it was served on a styrofoam plate so tiny as to be flat out ridiculous. I was given one skimpy napkin and had to return to the counter again and AGAIN to ask for more because the sandwich was impossible to eat without creating a mess. Note to management: try leaving napkins out where people can get their own and also think about using more appealing, not to mention serviceable, dinnerware. It's hard to believe what should be a competent deli could mess up something so simple as an egg salad sandwich. I also had lemonade to drink which was terrible - tasted like lemon Kool-Aid. I felt badly for the woman who took my order since I had to keep asking for napkins repeatedly but the sandwich was made, and served, extremely poorly. This isn't a place I would bother returning to the next time I'm in the York area. read more

They run an operation where they go to wedding shows to stir up interest by offering prize drawings worth $500 toward catering your special day. Attendees get excited and there is a buzz at their booth, so you enter your name and wedding date and think it's worth a try. A couple days later you get a call and your jaw drops, they're very sweet and let you know you were selected for the prize offer and they want to setup a date to "Go over details in person." You feel relieved, it's such a break in your planning and it's one more thing to check off on the seemingly endless list of wedding to-dos. You contact the owner to confirm your appointment three days prior to meeting with him, he confirms and offers congrats. The day of the appointment you receive a call from an in-store staff letting you know your wedding date was booked. You're kind of baffled because you put your wedding date on the raffle slip and the company contacted you first about going over details. So you describe how you were selected from the raffle at the show. The staff says they need to speak to the owner and get back to you. They never do. You think it must be a misunderstanding so you go to your appointment anyway. You identify yourself and let the staff know you have an appointment with the owner at this time. The staff give you a concerned and dumbfounded look and say there is no appointment scheduled. They know nothing of you or your fiancé, your name is not listed anywhere. You ask the manager to retrieve the list from the bridal show to prove you're not making this up. Rather, he calls the owner and returns to say that the owner is not aware of any appointment today. You provide the context of why you're there and show the text message from the owner three days prior confirming the appointment and he agreed that was the owner's phone number. The manager says he will try to get to the bottom of this. You leave confused and decide to call the owner directly, but have to leave a voicemail. He returns the call and informs you four other people are booked on your wedding date. You should have put a deposit down to reserve the date. You think, but the wedding date was on the prize entry so surely that must have been taken into consideration when they selected you and contacted you to "Go over details." Why would someone offer a prize to you if they cannot fulfill it, other than to get out of having to actually fulfill it? Quote from the owner: "Life's not fair" We feel dirty for being a pawn in this game. Glad we did not end up going further with them. We had the Festive Board deliver and set up the Cocktail Hour food for our wedding. The food was a hit! In fact, by the time we arrived it was all gone! We had 4 party subs and a few trays of cheese/veggies/fruit. The only complaint I have was that the guy delivering cut it very close (setting up as guests were arriving) and was not very personable to the groom/groomsmen upon arrival or via voicemail left for me upon arrival. Food tastes old like they leave it sit out day after day for weeks on end. It's disgusting and for the expensive prices they charge I expected fresh food. I ordered a roast beef sandwich, and got a hot mess on a saggy loaf with some bland white dressing (not sure if it was sour cream or yogurt based) got disgusted by the whole taste. Threw it away and got lunch elsewhere. Since when is this a deli roast beef sandwich. AVOID. read more

My daughter hired Festive Board as her wedding caterer. We all sat down with the owner, Ed, and discussed what she wanted. Without going into a grand review of what food was ordered and such, let me say that everything was as ordered. They came to the site, set everything up, fed everyone, made sure all the needs and desires were taken care of and helped us all to enjoy a wonderful wedding. When they make promises, they deliver. Thank you a million times over for a great event! Ed your staff, lead by Debbie made my daughters wedding the most enjoyable experience. The food was impeccable, service over the top and most of all we didn't have to do anything and I mean anything. They set the venue, placed the favors and centerpieces, carried chairs from wedding to reception, set up our bar and ice cream bar ( that we supplied even) and even took all the trash!
