Get new Owner! Called a Togo order and when I went to pick up it was $11 more than was ordered from website. Talked to owner to explain issue. Immediately he raised his voice alerting everyone to us saying it is not his website and the price is the price, tried to explain and show him site because it was same address picture and phone number and he yelled more denying the site and I was so embarrassed the 3 customers he did have were shaking there heads. I went here for breakfast a few days ago and the food was OUTSTANDING. Huge portions at a low price. Interior was impeccably clean. Staff is friendly. Owner was actually the one that checked us out and you can tell this place is his passion and he does a great job with it. Waitress was super friendly, service was excellent, and food was both delicious and affordable. Went here with my girlfriend and this is our new favorite place in York. I got the beef gyro and she got a BLT, which she described as the best BLT she's ever gotten on one of our dates. Also, the aesthetic was super cute. I went here using a random restaurant generator. This is something new that we wanted to try. From the outside it doesn't look like much and the inside Decor was dated. But the biggest thing.. is the food good? I got a pancake breakfast while my wife got a Dolmas with a side of French onion soup. My food was no frills and my wife didn't get excited about her choices. I think the staff is wonderful, but if you are looking for and exciting menu and wowing experience, look elsewhere. This little gem has been in York for some time but I think mostly over looked. Fresh food well cooked at prices that will make your purse giggle. I had the 4 piece fried chicken....2 wings 2 breasts with mash, beets and side salad....under 10.00 My son had salmon cakes, mash, apple sauce and side salad.....under 10.00 Everything was well seasoned and the chicken a delightful crispy. Mash was instant....but not as bland as you might expect. Overall the resturant was clean and homey with extra decorative touches showing the owers' Greek heritage. My first experience was today with a new server and she was excellent . She made me feel important and anticipated our needs. Courteous , light hearted, and we were a priority. My friend had the Fried Shrimp with French Fries ( see a theme here? Lol) with a Salad and was very pleased. I had the Lasagna which was delicious as was the Garlic bread. The worst restaurant I have ever had the experience of dining in. Food, service and cleanliness was not to be emulated.

A group of four of us visited Astoria Diner because of their screened in patio. We were greeted at the door by a woman not wearing a mask, and directed to seat ourselves. When our server came to the table, her mask was under her chin. We chalked it up to everyone still adjusting and remembering to wear a mask. Our entire visit, she never pulled her mask up from under her chin. Each time she came to the table, we all put our masks back on, and nothing triggered for her to put hers on. I understand the inconvenience, but not adjusting to this "new normal" will only hurt your business. read more

I love this little diner. We come here very frequently for breakfast. It is a little Greek diner with a good selection of items on the menu. Two people can easily have breakfast for $10-$15. There is a nice little patio at which I am sitting as I write this. My favorite breakfast item, which I get 99% of the time, is Tina's Special Omelette. Tina is the owner's name. The omelette consists of homefries, tomatoes, provolone, & feta cheese in an omelette. It comes with Tzatziki sauce (a yogurt type of sauce) & toast. The staff is friendly & efficient, & the food comes out quickly. They also have some good dinner selections. My fave is the dolmas & the liver & onions. read more

I was hankering for a great, not a good, but great gyro.went un and met owner nice fellow. I ask him how they made their gyros. I could seethe vertical rotisserie in the kitchen. I ask if they use real whole meat or that ground up meatloaf looking and tasting stuff. He said it's real pieces of meat and they also make their own cucumbers sauce too. I've only been there for breakfast, so I have no opinion on lunch or dinner, but breakfast is fantastic and I imagine other meals are, too. I do love a good Greek diner! I always get the #21 breakfast platter - two eggs, bacon, sausage, home fries, and toast. No lie, it's less than $3.50. Eggs are done perfectly, coffee is great, rye toast is $.20 extra but is delicious and worth it. Really nice place for a great Saturday morning breakfast! read more

Cleanliness- Out of all the diners I have been to thus far Astoria Diner is very clean although there was no grates on the ceiling vents witch can lead to Airborne particles in and on the tables, food, and customers, but over all clean. 2. Service- Astoria gains points with me on this one. At first it seemed the waitress was impatient but it turns out she was just nervous witch seems weird given I was very friendly with her, albeit to the point but still nice. 3. Food Quality and Quantity- This is where this place losses a star. I had the Country Fried Steak which only came with a small portion of hashbrowns and one slightly burnt Biscuit. The Gravy was in unpeppered and was definitely from a can. The steak was most likely store bought quality and I ordered some scrambled eggs and suasage that were both unseasoned and lack luster. Quantity to pricing was however good being cheap at only $13. For the entire meal. 4. Atmosphere-It also losses another star with this one as well, the place looked like it was stuck in the 80s witch wouldn't have been a problem if it was a dive but its a diner and although the decor looked funny and quirky it looked like it was there since the opening day and hadn't changed. The customer base seemed to be regulars that were in their 70s and can't taste the food their eating, no offence but I didn't see one young person in there except a group that left when I was coming in. 5. Price-$13.31 for a half decent country fried steak and suasage and three eggs is unheard of in this town its usually almost 20 bucks so this is where it earns the third star. Overall- This Diner is place stuck in it's ways and it likes it. Would I come again? No only because the food is bland and the place looks like it could have stared in a Quinton Tarintiono movie, but should you well come and see for yourself. read more

My husband surprised me and brought me home a gyro with fries for lunch. I was happy to see that the gyro was actually made with lamb. With that being said, the meat was tough and the French fries tasted like fish. It's been awhile since I've been in the diner and when I was I didn't find it to be clean. Absolutely a waste. Order BLT's and got fish sandwiches through a local delivery service from this establishment. Called and talked with the restaurant owner and he belittled me and blamed the error on the delivery service even though he said they were BLT's too. The food smelled badly and was poorly prepared. I really was enjoying the food here... stopped in occasionally for breakfast or lunch/dinner, but I mostly got takeout. I would order from there a few times a week. Today I ordered takeout and my boyfriend stopped to pick it up and he was treated horribly. The server that was at the counter was rude to him. I guess she was stressed out so she decided to take it out on the customers. After waiting 10 minutes and being ignored continuously, he left. I called to tell them what happened and the owner (the wife), was also extremely rude and hung up on me. They didn't care about how rude they were. She's (the wife) not the most pleasant person to begin with. Customer service is not a priority to them. I will not patronize a place that does not treat customers with respect or appreciation. Many times I go in, there are little to no customers... I think they should appreciate and be kind to the frequent ones that keep small businesses alive. This place was terrible. The seafood platter was drenched in oil and butter and you couldn't taste anything but the oil. The vegetables were from a can and completely lacked flavor or appeal. The owner or manager on duty first was extremely disrespectful to another family of patrons telling them to next time pay in cash, not credit, because then it won't charge him money. Then my family stood at the counter waiting to pay as this man talked loudly on the phone blatantly ignoring that we wanted to pay. As we were getting ready to walk out, he rudely said behind us to pay in cash next time. Don't worry, mister, there won't be a next time. This quaint little diner has everything you desire in a small home-style establishment with a touch of Greek flair. We enjoyed perfectly cooked eggs Benedict savory chipped beef gravy with biscuits. I said no, the service was terrible, and even when I spoke to you, you chose to be rude with me. What's strange is that on my following bank statement I had a 20$ tip at this place. The food is good and reasonably priced. No complaints about the service either. My complaint is with the repetitive over charging. For example my mother sister and I went for breakfast today. I distracted my mother long enough to grab the bill and pay. The clerk rang out our bill as $41 and some change. Not thinking about it till I got to the car, we really didn't order $40 + in food. So I go back in and ask to see my check and my check totaled $23. He did refund my money but I am leaving the 2 star review because this isn't the first time this has happened. Both times the clerk stating oh I'm sorry I didn't clear out the credit card bills before ringing you out. Yeah one time is an accident but 2 times of it happening and I've only dined there 4 times is too many times! Really is hard to believe it's an accident with those odds. Only one star because I can't give it zero. I am regular customer, usually happy with the food and prices. Today I ordered a gyro (they toast the pita) and cut a half inch gash in my gum on a bite. The waitrss said they wouldn't charge me, but the owner's wife (when she quit counting money and finally checked us out) laughed at me and said the bread is soft, and only gave me $.89 off. Needless to say, I won't be back. I could overlook the tatty, dingy 80s decor and nasty wife, but I will not pay you to injure me and then laugh in my face.
