Wow - wanted a good pizza after graduation, decided to try this place. Mixed bag. Great toppings and flavor. Also good variety of sides and wings. However, very pricey and the service is sub par. You'd think the staff was only made up of Auburn Alumns. While toppings were very high quality, they were spread on the pizza unevenly and some sections were completely bare of toppings. I'd seen more even coverage at a poop fight at the zoo. The pizzas were cut in a most unique fashion. While both were cut into eight slices, two slices easily made up half of one pie. The smallest slice was literally two inches at its widest point. So while I commend the owners for being an EOE, I can only imagine the source for this creativity belongs to Auburn's Geometry Dept. Lastly, the crust was paper thin in places and so thick you could barely chew through it in others. Extremely disrespectful, unprofessional, and rude behavior from the general manager, Brooke Limeberry, and a pizza chef. I went for lunch, and my friend and I ordered waters. The cashier handed us both bottled waters, even though there was a jug of drinking water at the end of the bar, which we hadn't seen. My friend paid for me, so I felt bad that we had been charged and I turned to the cashier and said, "you should really check and see if we wanted bottled water or tap water", but I was interrupted by a cook before I could finish the sentence. He said "don't be an asshole". I argued with him for a moment that I wasn't, he used more profanity and I asked to speak to the manager who was standing nearby. When I told Brooke what had happened, she flatly denied that the cook had used profanity, even though she had been standing nearby and likely heard the exchange. She kept interrupting me to say "it's Alabama-versus-Tennesse this weekend and you're arguing with me over water" as if this had any bearing on the situation at all (note: this was Thursday, the game is Saturday). At this point I walked away to wait for my pizza. On the way out I asked for her name, and she said "Why?". I said I wanted to complain to the owner or write a review. She said "Oh the owner, you mean my uncle?" and scoffed (I found her name when I checked the store's Facebook page later). The cook then mocked me for saying I would write a review and kept saying "ooh big man over here" which I guess was a mockery of me being tall? It was strange. At this point I was frustrated enough to simply tell them they suck (immature, but I was angry at this point) and leave. On my way out they shouted "we're still making money" - again as if that matters in this situation. Simply put I've never been treated so poorly by the employees of a restaurant before. Maybe they can get away with treating college students like this, but based on the reviews here, it seems to be a common problem here. My advice - get a pizza somewhere else. I LOVE the standard and have been going there for over a year now. Tonight, I bouncer yelled (YES, no dramatics) yelled at me. I was sitting at a table in the downstairs of the bar, by the food, NOT upstairs. I left the bar, momentarily, to go say hello to a friend standing outside of 12, which is less than 10 meters away from my table for reference. I was maybe gone for 2 minutes, and that's being generous. Upon arriving back at the entrance to the Standard, I presented my wristband to the bouncer. He informed me that it was a strict 1 in 1 out policy and that I couldn't go back up to the bar. I told him that I was sitting downstairs, and he started verbally assaulting me. I took a step back and asked him, keep in mind very politely and respectfully, if I could just go grab my purse from my table and leave. This man then began to SCREAM at me that I was not allowed into the bar and to get back in line. To be completely transparent, I would have 100% done this if it had been verbalized correctly rather than rudely and disrespectfully. I, completely sober, began to cry and exited the strip. We had already ordered our food at The Standard and our appetizer had just arrived to the table. The manager who was beyond rude walked up to our table and demanded that we leave with the Chipotle and refused to let my daughter eat it in the restaurant. We cancelled the whole order and walked out! When children have good allergies, sensitivities, or preferences, but a family chooses to still eat at your restaurant, how can you deny the other child the ability to eat? You just lost our business forever and we will tell everyone not to eat here. There is a reason it has a one star rating. With this service, it will not last.
