Love this place located on the Tuscaloosa Riverwalk. Great for a an after-work wine down or a group get-together. I went on a Wednesday and surprisingly, it was busy. There was a birthday party/dinner and a company wine-down all so there's plenty of room for large groups. Although it took a while to get someone to my table; the service ended up being pleasant. The crab cakes were a little salty but very good and the brussels paired well with them although my meal consisted of an appetizer and a side. Overall it was a chill atmosphere with great views. There were about 4 other tables seated and bar 1/3 full. Service was very slow all around but friendly. My husband enjoyed his shrimp po'boy & fries. I enjoyed the chicken Caesar salad but did not like the dressing. It didn't taste like Caesar dressing at all and was heavy on balsamic flavor. I read the reviews and was worried. Honestly, I don't understand them at all after having eaten/drank here. Our server Karianna was absolutely lovely and never let our drinks get empty. The food was incredible and the view cannot be beat! There was trivia while we were here which made our dinner so fun even though we didn't participate. I have only one good thing to say about this place- the only rooftop bar in Tuscaloosa. First of all the male hostess was so rude and unprofessional to our group. It's really not that hard to be a nice person! Second, the waitress seemed so rushed and not helpful at all. The food and drinks are soo overpriced and COLD. yep COLD! every single person in our 10 person group's food was cold. Lastly, they do not give you an itemized receipt list so who knows how many people they are overcharging!! Our waitress also did not put the correct items on people's tickets. We stay here frequently at the Indigo when we come visit our daughter that goes to UA. We stayed here this last week Sandcastle watched the game....Roll Tide! and ate dinner here with her. It's always a nice view with pretty good food. Recommend if you want to have an outdoor experience. Pros: The view. There's a number of restaurants in Tuscaloosa with river views, but the view from the roof up here is pretty dang unique and fantastic. Gentleman who appeared to be a manager, who was very jovial and enjoyable to chat with. The farmers market lemonade ($8) was delicious. Cons: Service from the gentleman who appeared to actually be our server was quite slow and inattentive. It should be easy to order another round of drinks! The wait for some very basic food -- shrimp cocktail and a pretzel -- was excessive. Don't take my order, let me wait, and then come by and tell me it will be another 10-15 minutes. On a Monday night with very few people in the bar, how long can it take to put a few shrimp on a plate?? The food was pretty meh. A $12 shrimp cocktail is not crazy, but nor was it beyond some chilled shrimp cocktail sauce. Also, if the menu promises spicy mustard with the pretzel, first, actually bring it, and second, do better than mustard clearly out of a bottle. My friend was very disappointed. They had a live band play which catered to the older guests, but there was a large majority of college females there drinking with their friends. Terrible food. Service was okay but I paid $22 for what was recommended by the service. A chicken breast with Alabama white sauce and garlic mashed potatoes and steamed cauliflower and broccoli. All of it was edible flavor wise but no where close to $22. What was the most disappointing was the chicken breast wasn't as big as my three fingers and I had to get a frozen dinner in the hotel lobby after I left just to get full. Horrible. The customer service is absolutely embarrassing. They have posted online that they have happy hour everyday from Monday-Thursday. The MANAGER then told us we were wrong and that we did not read the website correctly. We pulled up the menu and he said "oh well I didn't write that", then proceeded to not honor the online menu. Being the only nice rooftop bar in Tuscaloosa I was really excited to check it out. However, i was extremely disappointed when it took over 2 hours to get our APPETIZER let alone our food. Our server was great and tried to accommodate for the slow kitchen but there is no reason to wait 2 hours for salsa when there were only about 2 other tables seated. Very upsetting to receive this service when the ambience and atmosphere was so great. If we would've been able to get our food and drinks in a timely manner this would've been at least 3.5-4 stars but the poor service made this a terrible experience. read more

This is my first ever yelp review. That's how bad my experience was. I am usually pretty laid back, I understand that the service industry is not easy and mistakes happen. This was however my number one worst experience ever. I've never done this before because I would never want to hurt a business but something needs to change here. I was super excited because tonight was the Friday night before my college graduation and I had a lot of family members in town so I made a reservation for 8 back in February or March for my graduation in May. We get there for our reservation at 7:00 and the host tells us that we have reservations "indefinitely" be we have to wait. When I asked how long we need to wait he said "I am not sure but hopefully not way too long." I gave them the benefit of the doubt and we waited for 30 minutes and then we were seated. Once we were seated at 7:30, it then took another 30 minutes to get a server and we had to ask multiple times to get one. My little sister asked for a water four different times and never got one so eventually my boyfriend went up to the bar and got her one. Oncd we finally got a waiter we immediately ordered but it then took another hour and 15 before they brought out 2 of our 8 entrees and one wrong entree. We ended up taking the wrong entree because we were starving. Eventually at 9:30, after having made reservations at 7:00, we had not yet gotten the rest of our entrees, dispite me going up the the bar multiple times and voicing my concerns to the other staff. We got up to leave and my dad asked a staff member if we could get the bill for only the food we received. We paid for the 2 flatbreads we received and the one round of drinks. They comped us 20% and were completely unapologetic, saying that our food came only 78 minutes after we ordered. This may be the case but we waited 30 to be seated with a reservation, 30 minutes for a waiter and then ANOTHER 78 minutes for 2 entrees. I was very excited that I had planned this for my family and it was a sad and very bad experience, putting a big damper on my graduation weekend. read more

I've stayed at several hotels and happily landed here (Hotel Indigo/The Lookout) 3 months ago and have truly enjoyed staying here. However, if you ever find yourself needing a place to stay in Tuscaloosa, I can't think of a better place than Hotel Indigo/The Lookout. You'll experience a wait staff beyond compare, a unique menu, an accommodating chef, a cool vibe, local musicians, and a great view. Such a great atmosphere and the drink menu is awesome, very fresh and fun drinks. The only complaint we had was the small portion sizes and how the food was presented. We (my group of 5) were so excited to order the charcuterie board because it's our favorite appetizer but we were very let down to see that it was not as big as the picture online. It was on a very small plate with nothing listed on the menu and it was still $17. Also, our salads for being $14 without protein were very small too. I think this will be the type of place where we only come to drink rather than eat. read more
