We came here after an Alabama basketball game on a Wednesday night about 8:30 PM and they close at 9 PM. As soon as we sat down, the server rushed us to order which I really didn't care for. I regretted sitting in his section. I've never been to a restaurant where I have felt that I had to be in a hurry to order because they were about to close which was 30 more minutes. I got a chicken Caesar salad while my son got a cheeseburger. This was his first time coming here. I lived in Tuscaloosa for a few years and I used to come here all the time. The bathrooms definitely need an upgrade. They're very old and slow to flush. read more

In town for travel and did a quick yelp search for the best wings in town, and this place repeatedly came up. I will start by saying I guess they are known for being "small style" wings which was new to me. They most definitely were small. I don't think I actually had a single normal sized wing. I guess they make up for that with the price being lower, I got 16 wings for $17.89, the bbq place a couple blocks away I was debating on getting was 12 for $24. My friends and I came here on a Friday afternoon for an early dinner and drinks. While the place was busy, we did not wait long to find a table (be warned it is seat yourself). That was probably the quickest part about the service. It took awhile for someone to come to our table to take our orders, it took even longer for our drinks to come out, and it took forever to pay. I do not know if it was the fact that they were so busy (it was Friday of parent's weekend), or if he was just forgetful. My friends and I paid with bama cash, meaning he took our phones. This was fine with us, but after 15 minutes, we had to track him down to get our phones back. This is the biggest reason for my lack of stars: inconsistent service. That all said, once we got our orders, they were great! We took advantage of the Friday drink deals and happy hour deals, so two of us were drinking $7 30oz strawberry margaritas, and another friend was drinking $2 Mexican beers. For food, we split an order of chicken nachos and fried pickles with the table. All things tasted great and we had a great time! We just wished we were better taken care of by our waiter. I used to love Buffalo Phil's -- I came here all the time on gamedays and with my family. On October 18th during the Tennessee game, I came in with a group of my girlfriends, excited to enjoy our food and drinks while watching the game. Everything started off great until our server suddenly tried to check us out really early. We told her we weren't ready to leave yet because we were still eating and watching the game, but she insisted on checking us out anyway. After we paid, she came back and said we had to leave soon because of a new "policy" that customers can't stay at their table for more than an hour and a half. We were shocked -- we had only been there about 45 minutes. Then the busser and door guy came over telling us to leave while we were still eating. When we asked for a manager, he said this was a new rule from the owner and that "the owner pays our bills, so we just have to follow it." Meanwhile, other tables around us (who had been there longer) weren't asked to leave and were just as confused as we were. Honestly, this was disrespectful and disappointing. I've been a server myself for years, and if I ever asked a table to get up while they were still eating, I'd be fired. This whole situation made it clear that Buffalo Phil's management and ownership seem to care more about money and table turnover than about their customers' experience. The manager was polite but offered no real solution, basically just told us "tough luck." If this "time limit" policy had been clearly posted or told to us beforehand, we never would have come here -- especially for a gameday. It's really sad because I used to be a loyal customer, but after this encounter, I won't be coming back, and I don't recommend this place to anyone. Terrible experience. read more

We decided to enjoy a lunch out one day while providing care at the Tuscaloosa VA, and this was where we were recommended to try! The server was great, but when it came time to get the check it felt like we spent 20 min trying to pay (not great when you have patients ready for you in the afternoon). All I can do is shake my head at my most recent experience. It was simply the worst service I've ever received. The service was slow and inconsistent. After we found our seats, our server came to us after about 10 minutes. All the servers were in booty shorts/short skirts and crop tops/cut Buffalo Phil's shirts. At a point, I saw my server's butt cheeks. They also were on their phones and talking to each other instead of getting people's orders. Our server eventually greeted us and took our drink order. We told her we needed a few minutes to look over the menu before ordering and she gave us 10. After ordering, our food came out in a decent amount of time but the server did not check on us for 30 minutes. My husband and I both needed refills but she was too busy on her phone and playing with shirts/her coworkers to notice. The food was mediocre at best. I had the hot fingers. They were smothered in sauce. I like hot things but those tenders were all heat and no flavor. I was unimpressed. The onion rings I had were good. I won't be back. Stopped in here during a busy weekend on campus. Know that this is what it is, it's not a four star dining experience but I gave it four stars anyway because it does what it does well. Casual laid back, fun atmosphere, variety of drinks. Can come as college kids or with the family. Variety of menu items, ranging from good old not so good for you food but also has a variety of salads and grilled chicken options. Buffalo Phil's is located right on "The Strip" on the outskirts of the school. Since this was just after graduation, the town and the restaurant was very quiet. This looks like a fun place for students and parents to get some food. We ordered an appetizer of fries with queso and bacon which was very good. I had a cheesesteak and we all had some wings. Solid, somewhat divey wing/burger joint on the strip in Tuscaloosa. Crowded during game time, easier to visit during the weekdays. The food is seemingly made to order and the few times I've been here everything has come out hot and accurate. Full bar. Great beer specials. $4 pitchers on Mondays and that includes a few good local brews so the bang for the buck on that is huge. Definitely a great value. From the philly to the chicken fingers, fried mac and cheese to the country burger, (a deep fried burger patty with bacon and cheese)...everything has been greasy and delicious as you'd expect from any quality bar food purveyor. Long story short, for casual service, great prices, huge portions, a full bar and beer specials that will leave you stumbling out with most of your bankroll intact it's hard to beat this place. And also the country burger. It's a breaded and fried hamburger patty on a bun with bacon and cheese. Who deep fries a hamburger patty? Really think about that. These wings were the saltiest wings that I have ever put in my mouth. They were fried too long and teeny tiny. They had hardly any meat on them. The fried pickles were cold and hard when they came out. The chef salad was ordered with turkey only. It came out with ham and bacon in addition to a tiny portion of turkey. I had gone to this restaurant since I was a freshman here. In the years that have passed, the quality of everything there has gone downhill and I recommend that you save your money and not go. Tonight, I get there around 7:40 and we decide to sit outside. 10 minutes have passed so I ask my boyfriend to go in and mention that we haven't even been greeted yet. Another 10 minutes goes by, with a woman coming out to clear tables and a male server to check his table and bring them out more drinks. My boyfriend goes in again and is told a server will come out asap. Another 10 minutes goes by and I flag down the male server and ask him where is our server. Almost 40 minutes since we got there another male server comes out saying that we are going to hate him but they close at 8:30, yet the time posted on their own website says 9. Also, the whole time we were outside the people on the inside were getting served left and right. I understand kitchens close before the restaurants do but it is ridiculous for us to have been sitting there for almost 40 minutes, not have even been greeted, offered drinks, or even simply told that they do close at 8:30 that night. If we were told that when we first sat down, we would have gladly gotten our food to go and went home. Save your money and go to mediterranean across the street that has better food, or wait till Glorybound opens back up. This "Tuscaloosa Staple" isn't going to be around much longer if they train their servers to just be so inconsiderate. read more

Best Burger and apps in Tuscaloosa. The burger has that char like it's off the grill at a BBQ - which is hard to find these days. The best apps here are the buffalo dip and the mac and cheese bites. The buffalo dip was nothing like I had ever experienced, great buffalo flavor, and it's actually not that spicy for those who aren't big on heat. You still get the great flavor with it though! The fried mac and cheese bites are amazing. They actually are creamy and taste wonderful A lot of times "fried mac and cheese bites" are dry due to all the breading, but they nailed it here. The only reason why it's not 5 stars is the wings aren't exactly the best, and the tater tots/fries were mediocre. Other than that, this place rocks and I def will return! read more
