    Interior of Restaurant
    Rishi C.

Came by for lunch today with my family and had a good time, though the experience was a bit rough around the edges. Eureka is a restaurant with indoor only seating, though it does have an indoor patio area that opens to the street. They take reservations so I'd recommend doing that if possible. They've got a ton of beers on draft to choose from, and also offer a taster option which I did to try a few different beers. I wish the tasters were bigger, and wish they gave you something to track the different beers, because it's easy to get them mixed the way they serve them one-by-one. I wish they served them all at once as well, because I received my beers piecemeal, with one showing up 10 minutes after my other beers had arrived. On the food front, I got the al pastor fish tacos and tried the fish & chips. The Al pastor fish tacos were excellent, but the fries it came with were stale. The fish & chips were ok, a bit bland but well cooked. Like the beers, all of our food came out very piecemeal, with one item coming 10 minutes after everything else had come. Overall, it felt like the service was a bit hit or miss; the staff is nice but it was hard to get their attention, which I would attribute to them being spread thin. I think if you're not in a hurry this place has some good lunch specials and good beers to try, just be ready for a slow experience.

Ugh I hate giving 3s but I must stick w the yelp credo and be honest. Started off bad w only one server and one bartender on the floor, server was super nice so no hate to her, hate to the managerial staff for leaving her up a creek like that. There was a manager(?) helping occasionally, but clearly they were very understaffed. Took a while to get seated even though there were empty tables available. Dirty soda was yummy, and the burger was good, but the buns were very odd? And like the bottom bun was already soggy and splitting by the time it got to my table. The fish and chips...I mean come on that plate is 75% fries! Gotta give credit that the fish were battered very well and not greasy, but besides that, mid. I usually fuck w eureka but this was a bummer!

We came to Eureka! Just to grab a few little bites to satisfy our savory craving. We got the pretzel bites and the Mac and cheese balls. The Mac and cheese is always the stand out with the yummy and slightly spicy fried balls. Staff was incredibly attentive and super kind! Oour service was constantly checking up on us. Highly recommend visiting midday when the weather is nice, since the whole wall/window was open and it was greatly ventilated!

Just missed happy hour! The truffle cheese sauce was awesome n loved it, but the cheese on the fries didn't melt? What's that mean? Lol.... The wings were extra crispy the way I like them!! Reasonably priced! The drink flight was hit n miss. 2 of the whiskey tasted like blah, n the other 2 were great. The Pinot noir was a miss, but the Chardonnay was great tasting. Don't recommend the whiskey flight, for the $$$ There's a lot of seating, but wooden n uncomfortable... which is what a lot of places in Berkeley do... so average seating. There's clothe napkins n very nice silverware! Good for date night! The server was nice and attentive! Very fluid conversationalist!!! I like that in a server! Close to Bart & street parking nearby! Clean restrooms! Child friendly, but not baby friendly!!!

The food was amazing. The atmosphere was chill with a great view. Ordered off the daily specials menu which is also on the weekends. Had the burger and grilled chicken sandwich. Bloody Marys were average. Our server was great and attentive.

Tried the Jalapeño Egg Burger with tots. The burger was cooked medium and the egg over medium exactly as requested. The tots were crispy and the portion size was generous. Everything was good but didn't quite have that wow factor that would bring me back.

It never goes wrong to go Eureka! For burgers! We went for St Patrick's Day and ordered a special burger with wagyu beef patty marinated in Guinness. You can truly taste Guinness in it. One of the best burgers I ever had!

Service was a 10/10. Jack did a great job. He was helpful and consistent Ambiance - 10/10 nice and versatile, you can come here for a nice date night or to watch a game with boys. Food - 8/0 the food is good specially the mash burgers and apps. Also they have great cocktails selection.

The interior is provided a cozy experience with fine end chandeliers and excellent seating arrangements with pre set tables. Despite this I think they rushed the hiring process considering the service felt subpar at best. We Shared all of our burgers to give a proper taste of the items and my party settled on the Eureka Burger and the double smash as the best for a classic American burger. The bison was my second choice since it was a sweet caramelized flavor. Fresno fig had a strong goat cheese taste, but was still sweet. Overall I think this place has a lot of potential in improving their service and taste of the food. I would personally come again later on in the year and see if it improves.

Went in last night with a friend for dinner. We shared the lettuce wraps to start. Lettuce wraps were tasty and the sauces added good flavor. The servers were friendly and prompt. I had a salad with the seared tuna for my main. The tuna was tender and well seasoned and I like all the salad additions. The restaurant has a good amount of seating and tables for larger groups. Floor to ceiling windows on one side. They also have a good beer and whiskey selection

Such a great place for a filling, delicious meal in Berkeley! Didn't need a reservation on a Thursday afternoon. The waitresses were so attentive and friendly, so helpful with describing the different cocktails and what they would recommend. I enjoyed my lychee cocktail and my boyfriend had something with dragonfruit in it. Both yummy with fun flavors. My burger was juicy and the truffle fries were a great appetizers. I also had sweet potato fries which were really sweet with honey drizzled on them. It tasted like a real baked sweet potato! Food came out nice and fast and hot. Excellent service and delicious food make this place a 10/10! Will be back!

I came here a few weeks ago for dinner with a friend. The food was great and we made it just in time for happy hour. With my encouragement, my friend upgraded to the truffle fries, which I think is the best thing. My burger was good, I kept it simple with a regular burger with American cheese. The fries are always reliable. My friend seemed impressed with his buffalo burger and fries. Our server recommended their dessert with some kind of bourbon cake and vanilla ice cream. The cake was dense and dry, way overbaked. The ice cream and sauce helped a little, but next time I'd skip it. The ambiance is nice with semi-low lighting. It's easy to get to via public transit and decent parking nearby. The service was fine, but it did feel like the servers were gently nudging us to leave after we finished eating. It really seems like restaurants prioritize the table turnover, rather than allowing customers to have a nice space to relax with food and catch up. It's always awkward to be in the middle of a deep, difficult conversation, and having a server keep asking how things are going or refilling water. I understand it's their job, but ... sometimes we just need some time to digest and connect too. Pushing table turnover, especially when there are other empty tables, makes it hard to associate this place with "relaxing atmosphere" where you can take your time to eat and chat with a friend.

For our drinks, I had the Moonlight Blossom, my aunt had a glass of red wine, and my mom had a cucumber mint spritzer (mocktail as she was the DD). The moonlight blossom tasted similar to cherry limeade. The entrees we had were the mussels, veggie burger, and the chef's market pizza. The mussels themselves were tasty and appreciated that they were able to leave out the chorizo. However, I wish that they brought a spoon and there was more broth. I tried some of my mom's veggie burger and the red color from the beets made it stand out from the usual veggie burger. The fries tasted homemade. Wood Tavern met the criteria for a relatively nice American restaurant in North Oakland. We visited for lunch and wanted to make this special for our mom, so we were perhaps a bit overdressed in business casual, but this is Oakland after all. On an ordinary Thursday, there were multiple groups waiting outside for the restaurant to open at 11:30 AM. That in itself should tell you how popular this place is. My wife and I dined at sister restaurant Southie next door a few years ago and really enjoyed it (I also rated it five stars on Yelp), so I was confident Wood Tavern would not disappoint. I initially booked our reservation using OpenTable to link it to my account and get 100 points. Since the max party size for Wood Tavern on OpenTable is four, I had to call to get it changed to eight. Due to the large party size, the restaurant also required me to give them my credit card info and be subject to a $25 per person no-show fee. Upon arrival, our tables were ready for us in the back corner near the open kitchen. The restaurant is true to its name with a shared bar and dining room space that evoke the feel of a wood tavern. Here's what we had: Wine of the Day * Rosé (100% Zweigelt), Stefan Pratsch, Niederösterreich, Austria, 2024 ($16) "N/A Libations" and other drinks * Cherry Bomb! non-alcoholic cocktail ($13) - Tilden Lacewing, Amarena cherry, lime, ginger beer, tall glass * Shirley Temple ($5) * Diet Coke ($5) * Iced Tea ($4) Soup & Salad * Red & Golden Beet Salad x2 ($16 each, one with fish added for $8) - frisee, castelfranco, pistachios, orange segments, Laura Chenel goat cheese, Cara Cara orange vinaigrette Sandwiches * The Hot Pastrami x2 ($25 each) - Emmentaler cheese, Dijon-horseradish dressing, La Farine baguette Old Reliables * Seafood Stew ($32) - rock cod, Manila clams, PEI mussels, calamari, butter beans, fennel, leeks, chili flakes, garlic toast * Pork Ragu Casarecce ($30) - Castelvetrano olives, Pecorino Romano, Grana Padano, chili flakes, parsley * Tavern Burger with French Fries on Acme Soft Bun with All the Fixins x3 ($25 each, two with cheddar added for $2 each) Everything was excellent. As for what to order, I recommend all of the dishes we got. It really just depends on what you like and/or what you're in the mood for. Everyone loved the food. The beet salad was fresh and flavorful, the pastrami was one of the best I've had anywhere, my mom raved about the seafood stew, my brother-in-law gobbled up all of the casarecce, and the burger was outstanding. Service was polite and speedy. Our server Sophia C was awesome. We split one of the salads and the stew, so they came out plated and served in half portions which was nice of the kitchen staff to do.

The sauce it was paired with was the wow factor and we even asked for more. The bulgogi on both the bulgogi bowl and bulgogi scramble was tender and had a tasty marinade. I would had wished the bulgogi scramble didn't have as much red onion. I was surprised with the sweet potato tots option and that didn't disappoint. The spicy pork sandwich was elevated and balanced out with the kimchi slaw and cucumber combo. We finished with the Crunch French toast and it was perfection! Fluffy inside but a crunchy outside. The hostess was welcoming, and the staff who brought out our food were friendly. Unfortunately, our server provided a very different experience. When we asked for appetizer recommendations, he simply repeated the menu items without offering any suggestions. Throughout the meal, he never checked on our table, even though we noticed him checking on the surrounding tables several times. At one point, the patio umbrella unexpectedly fell near our table. Instead of first asking if everyone was okay, his only response was, "Do you mind if I close the umbrella?" That was disappointing and made us feel overlooked. The only time his attitude became noticeably friendlier was when he brought the check. We happened to be the only Asian table that afternoon. While I can't say for certain why our experience felt different, the contrast in service left us feeling unwelcome. I hope every customer receives the same level of care and attention.
