Been here twice, and it's a great location. Literally in the middle of downtown Berkeley. UC Berkeley being close by & Berkeley City College few steps away. Also, right off of the BART stop. PERFECT! Came by for lunch today with my family and had a good time, though the experience was a bit rough around the edges. Eureka is a restaurant with indoor only seating, though it does have an indoor patio area that opens to the street. They take reservations so I'd recommend doing that if possible. They've got a ton of beers on draft to choose from, and also offer a taster option which I did to try a few different beers. I wish the tasters were bigger, and wish they gave you something to track the different beers, because it's easy to get them mixed the way they serve them one-by-one. I wish they served them all at once as well, because I received my beers piecemeal, with one showing up 10 minutes after my other beers had arrived. On the food front, I got the al pastor fish tacos and tried the fish & chips. The Al pastor fish tacos were excellent, but the fries it came with were stale. The fish & chips were ok, a bit bland but well cooked. Like the beers, all of our food came out very piecemeal, with one item coming 10 minutes after everything else had come. Overall, it felt like the service was a bit hit or miss; the staff is nice but it was hard to get their attention, which I would attribute to them being spread thin. I think if you're not in a hurry this place has some good lunch specials and good beers to try, just be ready for a slow experience. read more

So.....super bummed about our experience tonight. The food at Eureka is all phenomenal. Poke tower, burgers, salads...all good stuff. Awesome beer selection (beware flat beers since they have enough variety that some kegs have time to go flat). The downside...the service is horrendous. From the time we sat down to the time we had drinks in front of us was 40 minutes. We had to ask the manager where our drinks were. To even place our order took just under 20 minutes. They were NOT crowded and there were two bartenders. One waitress was arguing with the host, then a busser, then another waitress. Sadly, that's it for us. We won't be back. read more

Ugh I hate giving 3s but I must stick w the yelp credo and be honest. Started off bad w only one server and one bartender on the floor, server was super nice so no hate to her, hate to the managerial staff for leaving her up a creek like that. There was a manager(?) helping occasionally, but clearly they were very understaffed. Took a while to get seated even though there were empty tables available. Dirty soda was yummy, and the burger was good, but the buns were very odd? And like the bottom bun was already soggy and splitting by the time it got to my table. We came to Eureka! Just to grab a few little bites to satisfy our savory craving. We got the pretzel bites and the Mac and cheese balls. The Mac and cheese is always the stand out with the yummy and slightly spicy fried balls. Staff was incredibly attentive and super kind! Oour service was constantly checking up on us. Ultra small plates for the price - charging premium prices without premium service. Had a bourbon shot along with a full size appetizer for $30 and only got five piece Mac and cheese balls. I was there with coworkers from 6-8 on Tuesday. Their food was really good but there was someone with microphone yelling really loud, we (Japanese) couldn't figure what it was, but it was SO LOUD AND UNCOMFORTABLE and nobody was responding or looking, It was like a game or something but we'll never want to go for dinner. The interior is provided a cozy experience with fine end chandeliers and excellent seating arrangements with pre set tables. Despite this I think they rushed the hiring process considering the service felt subpar at best. We Shared all of our burgers to give a proper taste of the items and my party settled on the Eureka Burger and the double smash as the best for a classic American burger. The bison was my second choice since it was a sweet caramelized flavor. Fresno fig had a strong goat cheese taste, but was still sweet. Overall I think this place has a lot of potential in improving their service and taste of the food. I would personally come again later on in the year and see if it improves. read more

Such a great place for a filling, delicious meal in Berkeley! Didn't need a reservation on a Thursday afternoon. The waitresses were so attentive and friendly, so helpful with describing the different cocktails and what they would recommend. I enjoyed my lychee cocktail and my boyfriend had something with dragonfruit in it. Both yummy with fun flavors. My burger was juicy and the truffle fries were a great appetizers. I came here a few weeks ago for dinner with a friend. The food was great and we made it just in time for happy hour. With my encouragement, my friend upgraded to the truffle fries, which I think is the best thing. My burger was good, I kept it simple with a regular burger with American cheese. The fries are always reliable. My friend seemed impressed with his buffalo burger and fries. Our server recommended their dessert with some kind of bourbon cake and vanilla ice cream. The cake was dense and dry, way overbaked. The ice cream and sauce helped a little, but next time I'd skip it. The ambiance is nice with semi-low lighting. It's easy to get to via public transit and decent parking nearby. The service was fine, but it did feel like the servers were gently nudging us to leave after we finished eating. It really seems like restaurants prioritize the table turnover, rather than allowing customers to have a nice space to relax with food and catch up. It's always awkward to be in the middle of a deep, difficult conversation, and having a server keep asking how things are going or refilling water. I understand it's their job, but ... sometimes we just need some time to digest and connect too. Pushing table turnover, especially when there are other empty tables, makes it hard to associate this place with "relaxing atmosphere" where you can take your time to eat and chat with a friend. read more

I came again with the in-laws and the kids, after an 8 year hiatus or so during the holiday season. It was easy to make a reservation, we got a big comfy booth, they have a kids menu with crayons, the food came out in like 5-7 minutes and service was friendly. The food was fine. An elevated American bar menu. I went with the crispy veggie burger and it was very much deep fried, but it was good. A little dry and could have used a little something something, but overall, fine. I opted for the side Caesar at an added upgrade price and that was a good move. The brussels appetizers were delish and the kids loved their cheeseburger & chicken tenders. I spied quite a few families here, so the kids menu and large open style restaurant is clearly known by the local fams. My father in law enjoyed his fig burger and the place has a big bar with lots of specials and a happy hour. Overall, a win all around when dining with the kids. Not an inexpensive option, but a great option for the area. read more

UPDATE 8/19/2025: I was immediately reached out by the manager (I didn't get the chance to post it). She was very concerned about the issues raised and very apologetic. My wife and I frequent this place often. We've gone sometimes in the afternoon or closer to 9 pm. I've never had any major complaints except that the time before this time, my burger was not made the way I ordered. That was a bit flustering because it took awhile to come out with improvements. However, this time, on 8/2 @ 9pm, was unsatisfactory. Or waitress Megan was amazing, humbling and very accomodating. She was not the problem. The problem was with a male waitstaff who brought my food out. I ordered wings, fries and side Ceasar salad. The $15 Cab wine (on the menu)...9oz pour seemed short and it was not tasty at all. The wings were overcooked (Fried way too hard and some had burntness to them). I decided to keep them because it took me awhile to place my order (I was indecisive because it had been a long day for us). She went to the back.. she awhile, my fries came back w/o the dressing that I asked him to get. He stated that he was not trying to and like he didn't want to get it for me. My wife and I both stated to him that is not what it seemed. I let him know that it is not his fault if something is made wrong. However, his comment was not necessary and he had a job to take the food back to the kitchen or inform our waitress. I told him that it was very rude and disrespectful. Cons: I won't sign a place off after one visit in case it was an off day, but the fish tacos were almost tasteless. They also were barely warm despite the plates being heated when they came out. They had pineapple and cilantro, which was nice, but really needed some seasoning and hot sauce. Some of the pineapple was completely unripe. Pros: Sweet potato fries were yummy. I had a nice iced tea. My dad liked his burger. Staff was friendly. They list the calories next to each dish which is helpful if you are doing any food tracking. I found their alcohol-free dragonfruit mojito to be a little too sour, their strawberry limeade a little too sweet, and their blackberry smash lacked flavor, but the Golden Hour was the best option. I took Holly up on her offer and the food was significantly better. The gf bun as compared to last time was a completely different color. For example, the bun was almost white last time but this time it was normal brown color. I had to double check to make sure it was the gf bun but it was. Good food. And I know that Eureka is a chain and the prices are the prices, so I understand that it's not this restaurant's fault but I do wish they'd either separate fryers to have GF fries or do an option that doesn't cost an up charge if you can't do the fries. Came here to try a few burgers, ordered the Eureka! American, Fresno Fig, 28 Day Dry-Aged Bone Marrow, and the Crispy Veggie Beet burgers. You can choose french fries or sweet potato fries or pay extra for other sides like the Mac N' Cheese Balls. I got french fries, sweet potato fries, and the Mac N' Cheese Balls! Eureka! American burger has American Swiss, grilled red onion, lettuce, house pickles, tomato, and special sauce. I asked the worker what the special sauce is and his first response was that there are many special sauces. I asked what's in the special sauce used in the Eureka! American burger and he had no idea. Eureka! American burger is a classic burger, no frills. The fries were soooo floppy, I like my fries crispy and not sure what they were going for here. Was this a fluke? The Fresno Fig burger is one of my favorites here. It has fig marmalade, melted goat cheese, bacon, tomato, red onion, arugula and spicy porter mustard. Love the salty burger with the sweet fig marmalade and the loud goat cheese, great combination of flavors. However, the fries were soggy and not crispy at all, what a shame. SHAME! First time trying the 28 Day Dry-Aged Bone Marrow burger which has bone marrow shiitake butter, grilled onion, horseradish mustard aioli, and roasted Roma tomato. It says there is limited availability for this burger, but luckily they had it during my visit woohoo. Wow loves to flavor and the meat is so darn juicy. Highly recommend the 28 Day Dry-Aged Bone Marrow burger, this might be my new go-to burger here. The Mac N' Cheese Balls were much smaller than expected and had a nice crust. First time trying the Crispy Veggie Beet burger which has housemade beet and kidney bean patty, house pickles, tomatoes, onions, arugula, and tart lemon vinaigrette. It was absolutely horrible, but it was my fault that I read the burger description wrong. I thought it was a veggie patty but the patty was literally a beet patty. It's a great place to grab a drink and munch on some food. The place was packed. I wouldn't come here to have dinner or anything, but there's a lot of options for you to choose from. Last time I came the service was not great we had a little wait not because they were busy because we were being overlooked I guess. The truffle fries are made totally different now instead of a nice dipping container on the side, fries with truffle and parsley sprinkled on top. They make it like cheese fries @ the mall or in school poured all over the fries. I asked for mines to be served the old way on the side when I got them even the fries are different instead of using the signature fries they are these bigger sized with some skin. NO THANK YOU! Ate at the Eureka! in SLO and decided to try this one closer to home on a Friday night at 9 pm. Ambiance is on 100 with nice lighting, clean aesthetic & TV's playing sports. It's great it has a happy hour menu from 9 pm until closing. Service, on the other hand, was actually really bad - I'm sorry to say. Why? We sat down and asked for water and didn't get it after the appetizer AND our our meals came out. We had to ask one other server, then a bus boy for our waters. I had to ask for my Old Fashioned halfway throughout my burger. I just expected more from a spot like this, and they weren't apologetic about it. Now onto the food... Fried Pickles - 4.5/5 - These were awesome! Pickles were juicy, sour and flavorful. Crispy and generous amount. My only gripe this they over did it with the salt, as the pickles didnt need it. Wings w. Bourbon Dry Rub - 4/5 - They came out hot, fresh, and juicy. The rub itself was dusted each wing nicely. It did taste more sweet than savory. A little mild spice kick at the end. Came with 7 with a few carrots and lettuce. Double Smash Burger - 3/5 - It looked awesome, covered in cheese and all the fixings. It came out a little room temperature though, creating dry bites with coldish patties and big bun. I did need to add ketchup - for both flavor and lubrication (lol). Maybe if it was served fresh this would've been tastier. Old Fashioned - 5/5 - Excellent old fashioned, loved the cherry. Overall, wouldn't be my first choice to come again due to the poor service but cater the idea with their late night happy hour option! read more

The manager recovered our service experience and that was a nice turn around! Arrived around 10 and had two drinks and an appetizer 1.5 hours later. It was busy but our experience seemed to be more a mismanagement of tables. We wanted to order more but it was difficult to do that. Unknowingly, the manager probably noticed our experience and came to take another order but I was too afraid of disappointment to order anything else. My mom ordered something else and it was great. I found a sweet potato fry in my nachos and I wasn't sure if that was intentional or not. The nachos were weird, how do i explain, my mom thought the beans were sweet the whole time until we realized it was a chipotle sauce. I have one complaint and that if you go on a Saturday be very careful upsetting the bartender she was annoyed at us asking for a couple of samples of ciders. And when she brought bour appetizer she said nothing and sort of tossed them on the table. We let our server know who was very kind as to say he was so sorry for her actions. But that was pretty bad service. Parking is street only and they have a farmers market during the time we came out. I don't know if we will come back here. read more
