We haven't been here in sometime. We decided to give it a try and I'm glad we did. There's a large selection of pizzas and sandwiches. Also, there's a ton of beers to choose from as well. We split a pizza and a salad and it was a lot of food. Sitting on the back patio is the best. Even better if you can sit close to the fountain on the shade side! Very chill, very lovely area to chat and eat. Our server was great. he was very friendly and open to any questions we had. Totally BARTable as well. If you plan to BART in, the closest stop is Downtown Berkeley. There's also plenty of garage parking nearby. read more

Wow - excellent bar service this afternoon. Came in to order a pizza to go and had a 20 min wait so she asked if I wanted a drink. Couldn't decide what I wanted since I had to work but didn't expect to see a full bar here so couldn't resist. She gave me recommendations along the way while handing me samples. I've never had service like this from any bar. Also double checked my pizza to make sure everything was right before handing it to me. Most people couldn't care less. The pizza was also remarkably delicious and reminded me of my experience 20 years ago at a Point Reyes pizza joint where they also used a brick hearth. For starters the staff there were very kind which is always great! They also had great prices and such a beautiful environment the outdoor seating was so scenic and a lot bigger than I thought!! The pizza combo I got was only $8 but had a HUGE slice that tasted great and came with soda and chips!! Although Jupiter has been a staple of downtown Berkeley for over 30 years and we are Bay Area natives, we had our first visit today. We walked in around 12:30 pm and loved that we could seat ourselves. There were several outdoor tables and we sat at one by the fountain. They have QR and paper copies of the menu. Ordering can be done online or with a server. We shared the spinach and artichoke dip and the Callisto pizza. Though the dip was tasty, we were a little surprised that there was more bread than dip. Also, we thought the focaccia didn't have enough herbs/flavor that distinguished itself as focaccia. The Callisto pizza has tomatoes, delicata squash, beets, roasted carrots and kale. We liked the color combination of the veggies and taste. Service was good but it did take a little while to get the check. Quick and friendly service, the Xanthia as my forever go-to (sliced potatoes, bacon, garlic, ricotta, mozzarella, rosemary, and thyme), and a fresh list of beers on-tap, a sure-fire win. Outside of pizza, they also serve salads, shareable apps, sandwiches, dessert, and NA options. Great for a group, date night, or solo excursion. We came to Jupiter on a Saturday night to meet up with some friends, and thankfully we had a reservation because the place was popping! There was a live band playing out on the back patio, which is open seating and had such a fun, lively vibe. We were seated inside. Ordering is done through a QR code, but there are still staff walking around to help. A waiter brought us water and checked in regularly, and there's even a cute little button on the menu you can press if you need assistance, which I thought was a nice touch. Jupiter brews their own beer, but they also offer wine and other beverages. I especially loved that they have smaller pours in addition to pints--perfect if you want to try a variety of their beers. We mainly came for the pizza because they offer gluten-free crust (a huge plus for us). My wife ordered the Gaia and really enjoyed it. I went with the Eutopia, which has meat galore, and it was absolutely delicious. We also saw wings and cookies coming out to other tables that looked amazing. We ended up hanging out and chatting for about two hours because we were having such a great time. The food has gone way downhill!! Spinach artichoke dip was so dry and chalky as to be almost inedible. It was served with stale focaccia. The pizza smelled and tasted cheap, with a crust far inferior to our previous pizzas here. They didn't bring out Parmesan and we couldn't flag down the waitress to get it. The service was (as ever) inconsistent and the waitress was clearly untrained--she constantly made single trips in and out of the dining room without carrying items each way or checking on nearby tables, and her inch-long fingernails were inappropriate and unhygienic. Came here with my wife and dog early into lunch service and was delighted to know that dogs are welcomed! We ended up getting a half-xanthio and half-juno pizza and had a hard time picking which one was our favorite as they were both great! Side note: the chicken was prepared in advanced so it does have pepper on it so if your dog is uncomfortable with spices you might want to order something else for them. Our waitress noticed that our dog was eating but didn't have a drink so without even asking she came with a cup of water for her to drink out of. Came here on a Saturday night and it was easy to get seated! It wasn't too busy, and they had live music and fire pits going. It was a vibe!! The servers are super helpful with making recommendations, and the bartenders are friendly and chatty. Service was quick and executed well! The food was even better! I tried their jalapeno, pineapple, and pepperoni pizza and had a side of olives. I never had hot olives before, so it was a twist but they were delicious! The pizza was amazing, a little spicier than I expected, but worth it! The only downside was that since seating is outside, I am not sure how controllable their pests/rat situation is maintained. We found a nice spot for a weekday early-afternoon al-fresco lunch, the 30-year-old Jupiter brewhouse (Oct 2025). It was a gorgeous day, with clear skies, a fair temperature, and a light variable breeze, and we basked st our umbrella-ed table. From their 30-or-so craft beers on tap, we had a lightly-sweet citrusy amber sour, and a velvet-textured nitro stout with espresso notes. We kept it lighter with substantial salads: a Mediterranean of romaine, rich soft artichokes, roasted red peppers and purple-y kalamatas smoldering with flavor, sprinkled with feta, herbed vinaigrette, and crunchy croutons. And a chunky-beet salad with wild-like greens and sweet fennel, orange pieces and carrot shreds, bright candied walnuts, and their vinaigrette. These both had so much flavor. TL;DR: great food, drinks, and vibes. Meh service. This Bay Area native took almost 3 decades before she went to the Greek Theatre. Better late than never, right? Going to Jupiter before contributed to that being an amazing night but almost made us late! I got off BART and was the first of our motley crew to get to Jupiter. We didn't have a reservation but there were open tables. They didn't seat us even when we were all there and people who came up to the desk after us kept getting seated. What gives? There was some miscommunication going on. Service continued to be slow and they didn't refill our waters. Free soda refills? Forget it! They didn't notice and barely came upstairs for us to say something. Besides that--drinks were flowing, pizza and salad and appetizers were large and good. My Mediterranean salad (small) was the perfect size and came with quite a bit of chicken. Everyone was happy! They have good pizzas (but I'd just had pizza the night before.) The outdoor space in the back is marvelous but busy. The upstairs area gave off steam punk vibes and was cozy. Clientele included families, college students, young people, and old! My friend and I were looking for a nice mimosa place. After a quick yelp search, we found this place. They didn't have bottomless mimosas but they had mimosa carafe so we decided to give it a shot. As soon as we reached, the wait time was minimal and we were seated right away. They had both indoor and outdoor seating. However, we wanted some fresh air so decided to sit in the outdoor patio area - it was beautiful! We got the mimosa carafe and a split pizza - with a root vegetable topping on one side and chicken on the other side. Glad they did split pizzas! The mimosa was great - it comes with orange juice. We repeated the mimosa carafe and it was great. The pizza itself was big enough for the two of us. However, it was a bit bland for our liking, although super healthy. Loved it! Didn't love the wait for a table, but loved the service and the food. Just have to hang in there, a table will eventually free up. I highly recommend the non alcoholic pina colada as a drink, as well as the spinach and artichoke dip. We also got a pizza with half Cassiopeia and half Eutropia. If you haven't been to Jupiter, you're missing out! One of the older "hip" places on Shattuck to grab elevated bar fare with a very respectable beer and wine selection. The food is also fantastic; particularly their wood fired pizza, savory appetizers, sandwiches and salads. The experience gets even better with the atmosphere. The courtyard/beer garden is one of the best in the East Bay. The vibes are off the chart and they really have some of the best table service in town. Went to Jupiter in Berkeley and grabbed a seat outside. The patio was big and open, and I ended up in a little alcove under a red canopy (so all my pics came out with this red tint, haha). Ordering was super easy with the QR code on the table, and the food came out quick, which was great since I had just finished hitting balls at Tilden. I got a hazy IPA, the Petaluma wings with honey sriracha, and the Andromeda pizza. Beer was cold, hoppy, and really hit the spot on a warm afternoon. The pizza was super cheesy and satisfying -- definitely a good pick if you're into cheese. The wings were juicy, tender, and tossing them in honey sriracha was the move. Jupiter is unfortunately a very fitting name - you would think the waiters traveled to Jupiter to grab the food. I hate to rate a place with such delicious food so low but the service was awful. I really enjoyed the Eutropia pizza, the cheesy garlic bread, and bruschetta. The ranch was really light and had a perfect refreshing flavor! Jupiter also has a beautiful outdoor space. They have open seating and QR codes to order food directly to the table you choose. Super green and picturesque - perfect for pics! Sadly, my two recent visits were coupled with terrible service. My first time, we ordered three appetizers and a salad, all of which did not come out. Our main dish came out before our sides and appetizers. We were optimistic that the rest of our food would come out but ended up eating the pizza and waiting an additional 20 minutes before we had to flag down a different waitress (our original waitress was nowhere to be found the entire time we ate). When the second waitress finally brought out our appetizers, they were already cold. The original waitress did not check on us or offer refills until far into us eating our appetizers as dessert. My second Jupiter visit was notably worse. After searching for a table for some time and not finding one, the server sarcastically wished me "good luck" with finding one. When a table eventually opened up, my group ended up sitting there with their dirty dishes for an additional 20 minutes before anyone came to clear it. I'm sure you could guess what happened next.... We ended up waiting over an hour for our food to come out. If I had not checked in with my waitress, the food would have never come out. Apparently our order had not been put in and we were waiting for nothing. Aside from this, the servers and waiters just had a bit of a sassiness or attitude to them. If you are willing to overlook the poor service, you may be in for a delicious meal and chill outdoor vibe, but to me, it is not worth your time. read more

I've never been here before and my honey said let's stop here after our movie. We went in & it's a seat yourself. This place is huge. So we picked a spot outside near the band. We ordered the June 2025 pizza of the month & it was delicious! Plus we topped off the night with the peach bread pudding. Very good - needed more sauce & whip cream. Ice tea isn't cold or served with much ice. I think it's room temperature tea ha! Oddly the menu says sandwiches are only available until 4pm. While walking and shopping along Shattuck last summer, I stumbled upon Jupiter. The place was packed and full of energy, but we couldn't wait for a table at the time. Fast forward to my wife's birthday--I knew what she really wanted was to spend quality time with our son, who had just started his freshman year at UC Berkeley as a Chemical Engineering major. Knowing his schedule was packed, I made reservations at Jupiter to keep things simple and close to campus. Our family loves pizza in all its forms--New York, Italian, even Indian-inspired--so we ordered four different pizzas to share and sample. My wife is an amazing cook, and my kids have grown up spoiled with homemade meals and adventurous flavors, so expectations were high. The bruschetta was different from what we're used to but still enjoyable. The BBQ pork riblets were good, though we all agreed: Mom's version still wins. That said, we had no complaints--everything was flavorful and thoughtfully prepared. We sat outside in the walled brick courtyard, which felt cozy thanks to the overhead heaters. Our table was on an elevated section near the acoustic band. The music added to the atmosphere without overpowering our conversation, which we appreciated. I enjoyed some excellent craft beer with my craft pizza, while the kids explored a fun variety of non-alcoholic drinks from the beverage menu. It all made for a relaxed, memorable evening. We're already looking forward to our next visit--to try more of the menu and sample more of their rotating beer selection. Jupiter has an awesome, cozy atmosphere for large and small groups. Although they have heat lamps, I'd still recommend dressing up in layers as there are pockets of cold between the lamps, lol. The food isn't anything super super special, but it hits the spot. The drinks are reasonably priced and you can still get a solid meal + drink without breaking the bank. We were lucky that one of the evenings we visited -- there was live music for folks to listen to as they ate/chatted/sipped on their alcoholic beverages. The ambiance is really relaxed and I love how the wait staff are also super friendly and nice as well.
