Always a great time here. When I find myself in Berkeley I find myself ordering a cold craft brew and enjoying a pie or two. Great space, great staff, solid wood burning oven producing some good pizza and the beer list is solid. No better spot when it's sunny outside to hang in the outdoor patio.

Jupiters will always be the ideal 'let's go eat outdoors' spot in Berkeley for me. If going on a weekend when there's live music, even better. This restaurant is filled with so much nostalgia and memories over the years, I'm always just happy with the opportunity to share a meal in the space with friends. Quick and friendly service, the Xanthia as my forever go-to (sliced potatoes, bacon, garlic, ricotta, mozzarella, rosemary, and thyme), and a fresh list of beers on-tap, a sure-fire win. The ranch also, no notes. They serve personal pizza sizes which I actually just learned too, which is nice touch. Outside of pizza, they also serve salads, shareable apps, sandwiches, dessert, and NA options. Great for a group, date night, or solo excursion. Parking can be tough, but not impossible, with a covered garage close-by.

Today, I ate here for the first time. I stumbled upon it and surprisingly there was no wait. I absolutely loved the pizza! The service was quick. You can order by QR code or by in person server. The quality really stands out. One of my favorite things is that they offer half-and-half pizzas. It's a great way to try different flavors with the best portion sizes. Highly recommend if you're looking for great pizza and a chill dining experience.

Artichoke & Spinach Dip, Callisto pizza, & fountain

Although Jupiter has been a staple of downtown Berkeley for over 30 years and we are Bay Area natives, we had our first visit today. We walked in around 12:30 pm and loved that we could seat ourselves. There were several outdoor tables and we sat at one by the fountain. They have QR and paper copies of the menu. Ordering can be done online or with a server. We shared the spinach and artichoke dip and the Callisto pizza. Though the dip was tasty, we were a little surprised that there was more bread than dip. Also, we thought the focaccia didn't have enough herbs/flavor that distinguished itself as focaccia. The Callisto pizza has tomatoes, delicata squash, beets, roasted carrots and kale. We liked the color combination of the veggies and taste. Service was good but it did take a little while to get the check. I'd come back but would get a pizza and skip the spinach & artichoke dip.

We came to Jupiter on a Saturday night to meet up with some friends, and thankfully we had a reservation because the place was popping! There was a live band playing out on the back patio, which is open seating and had such a fun, lively vibe. We were seated inside. Ordering is done through a QR code, but there are still staff walking around to help. A waiter brought us water and checked in regularly, and there's even a cute little button on the menu you can press if you need assistance, which I thought was a nice touch. Jupiter brews their own beer, but they also offer wine and other beverages. I especially loved that they have smaller pours in addition to pints--perfect if you want to try a variety of their beers. We mainly came for the pizza because they offer gluten-free crust (a huge plus for us). My wife ordered the Gaia and really enjoyed it. I went with the Eutopia, which has meat galore, and it was absolutely delicious. We also saw wings and cookies coming out to other tables that looked amazing. We ended up hanging out and chatting for about two hours because we were having such a great time. Jupiter is a fantastic spot to relax, enjoy some drinks, and grab some really good pizza. 10/10 recommend!

The food has gone way downhill!! Spinach artichoke dip was so dry and chalky as to be almost inedible. It was served with stale focaccia. The pizza smelled and tasted cheap, with a crust far inferior to our previous pizzas here. They didn't bring out Parmesan and we couldn't flag down the waitress to get it. The service was (as ever) inconsistent and the waitress was clearly untrained--she constantly made single trips in and out of the dining room without carrying items each way or checking on nearby tables, and her inch-long fingernails were inappropriate and unhygienic. I honestly don't know what management is even doing here.

First things first the food here is good, the pizza is made well and it's fresh, I also had the beet salad which was also made well, with mixed greens, shaved fennel, carrots, orange, goat cheese and walnuts. I personally had the Gaia pizza, which came with roasted chicken, spinach, mushrooms, ricotta and mozzarella. It was baked well and the crust was nice and crispy outside. My issue with this place was the customer service. Pretty non existent and we had a party of 8, the Asian lady with blonde hair seemed bothered by something the moment we sat down, I wasn't the only one in the group that noticed this. I ordered black coffee and water that took forever to come out even though all drinks from the bar and sodas came out quickly, she had to be reminded and then brought me a cold coffee and still forgot my bottled water. She didn't come by to check on us and every time we had to call her over she just seemed bothered and uninterested. It was my first time here and probably my last, there are plenty of options for pizza around the bay area that are very welcoming. We still tipped her very well but we won't be coming back. As a small business owner myself customer service is everything and this place missed the mark for me unfortunately. Great outdoor seating by the way.

    - interior: lovely. cute and aesthetic, not what i expected! - food: i really enjoyed the bacon potato pizza. lowkey, the pizza needed more salt for flavor though... especially the white ricotta chicken pizza. - service: initially greeted warmly. however our server was not the friendliest. maybe it just wasn't her day. we were here to celebrate a birthday, she seemed irritated to help get a lighter/ a knife to cut the cookies. I was here to visit the bay - if i were back i'd prolly try somewhere else. if you're visiting, sure, try it out.

Came here with my wife and dog early into lunch service and was delighted to know that dogs are welcomed! We ended up getting a half-xanthio and half-juno pizza and had a hard time picking which one was our favorite as they were both great! We also had the beet salad with a side of chicken for our dog to munch which I'm sure she was very happy about. Side note: the chicken was prepared in advanced so it does have pepper on it so if your dog is uncomfortable with spices you might want to order something else for them. Our waitress noticed that our dog was eating but didn't have a drink so without even asking she came with a cup of water for her to drink out of. Unfortunately I wasn't able to catch the name of the waitress but I hope this is enough to share that the staff is very considerate and cares for our fur-families. Being outdoors, it was peaceful and clean which I'm sure would eventually become more lively once more people come in. With good food, comes good company :)

Deliciously chewy wood-fired pizza, with a beautiful patio area (with a fireplace and warmers throughout!), and expansive selection of house and guest beers: truly what more can you ask for? The Circe (shrimp and garlic) was my favorite. I hear they play live music here, so I got to come back!

Fantastic atmosphere on a beautiful night! We loved the food, and the band made the meal even better. The house salad was flavorful, with a mix of greens, kale, seeds, and a balsamic apple vinaigrette. The Galileo pizza was the headliner with artichokes, tomato, mushrooms, spinach, fontina, garlic, Asiago, and a drizzle of olive oil. Both dishes came in large portions, making for a great meal all around.

Pluto was so astronomically delectable it should be back on the planet list, highly recommend Xanthia was fair Classic Veggie (we got it vegan) was deliciously vegetable Expensive but whatareyougonnado‍ The crust was the star; Genuinely the best I've ever had in my 20 years of pizza experience. It was buttery, full of flavor and complimented the toppings so well. #holdthezaallcrust

    Their umbrella-ed gazebo-ed patio

We found a nice spot for a weekday early-afternoon al-fresco lunch, the 30-year-old Jupiter brewhouse (Oct 2025). It was a gorgeous day, with clear skies, a fair temperature, and a light variable breeze, and we basked st our umbrella-ed table. From their 30-or-so craft beers on tap, we had a lightly-sweet citrusy amber sour, and a velvet-textured nitro stout with espresso notes. We kept it lighter with substantial salads: a Mediterranean of romaine, rich soft artichokes, roasted red peppers and purple-y kalamatas smoldering with flavor, sprinkled with feta, herbed vinaigrette, and crunchy croutons. And a chunky-beet salad with wild-like greens and sweet fennel, orange pieces and carrot shreds, bright candied walnuts, and their vinaigrette. These both had so much flavor. Their hearty fresh sourdough made these into satisfying midday meals.

But the West Coast IPA was good, genuinely good, and the pizzas coming out of the kitchen to the tables around me looked like pizzas made by people who cared about pizza, and the outdoor area was the kind of setup that welcomes bikes and dogs without making a production of it. I made a mental note: come back sometime for food. "Sometime" turned out to be yesterday, which is how it always works, the places you mean to return to in a week take three months, and the ones you expect to take three months surprise you on a random afternoon when you're starving and nearby and out of excuses. We'd taken the dogs on a long hike through Reinhardt Redwood Regional Park, which if you haven't done it is one of those East Bay hikes that makes you briefly forget you live in an urban area -- redwoods and eucalyptus and creek crossings and the kind of quiet that resets whatever the week did to you. By the end of it we were the specific kind of famished where menu deliberation is impossible and you just point at things and hope. We sat outside and pointed at things and everything we pointed at was excellent. The baked sweet potato--a Japanese sweet potato under miso butter, chili crème fraîche, bacon bits, crispy onions, scallions, and pea tendrils--is the kind of dish that sounds like it was assembled by a committee of trendy adjectives but actually works as a coherent thing you want to eat. The miso butter does the heavy lifting, that sweet-savory bridge that makes Japanese sweet potatoes sing, and the chili crème fraîche keeps it from tipping into cloying territory. Fifteen dollars for a side dish at a brewery is a number that would normally make me flinch, but the portion was generous and the execution was real. The summer squash tostadas--roasted zucchini, cherry tomatoes, avocado, pickled red onion, salsa macha, queso fresco, cilantro--were bright and crunchy and exactly the kind of thing you want after four hours in the woods. The salsa macha brought a nutty, smoky heat that elevated what could have been a forgettable veggie tostada into something I'd actually order again on purpose. And then there were the pickled vegetables. Cauliflower, fennel, zucchini, carrots. Seven dollars. Who pickles zucchini? Cellarmaker pickles zucchini, and it's delicious, and I'm annoyed that I now have to rethink my entire understanding of what belongs in a pickle jar. I had the Diamonds & Gasoline, a West Coast IPA with Nelson Sauvin and Cascade Cryo hops. The menu copy promises white wine and gooseberry and diesel-y grapefruit funk. What I'd tell you is that it's dank. Good dank. The kind of resinous, piney, vaguely illicit West Coast IPA that California does better than anywhere and that Northern California in particular has turned into a regional art form. I drank it and thought about the fact that I've started using the word "dank" to describe beer unironically and that I voluntarily hiked through redwoods on a Sunday afternoon and that I'm sitting outside a brewery in Berkeley with two dogs at my feet eating a Japanese sweet potato with miso butter on it. I am becoming a Northern Californian. This is happening. I lament nothing. The pizza will have to wait for the third visit. Wednesday, maybe -- they do a $12 slice-and-beer special that sounds like exactly the kind of deal that accelerates the conversion.

We ordered fries and a veggie plate to start and the fries that showed up were covered in paprika and soggy like they were baked. Extreme premium prices for beyond mediocre food. The hummus was laughable and ranch was awwwful. We ordered a following round of food with chicken strips, a burger and more fries. This time the fries were completely different. They were deep-fried and crunchy (definitely came from a bag) but a completely different french fry from what we received on our first order. Still the same foul Ranch and the ketchup that was out in squeeze bottles was beyond disgusting it was thin, sour and bright red with tin flavor. Chicken strips were fine, they 100% came from a bag and were consistent with hundreds of other restaurants that purchase the same ones. We asked the server if we could have our burger cut in half and they snapped that they were too busy to do that. The people next to us and across from us had burgers that were split in half... And the burger was a complete joke. Their "special sauce" is just cheap mayonnaise mixed with some of that cheap ketchup (that is probably from a huge can from the top corporate food distributor.) People listing that this is one of their favorite burgers are really missing out on some experiences in life, or they're eating them after their third double IPA... It's a beautiful place, great yard area. But the food needs to open a new document and start again. I can't believe how much it cost for how horrible it was. I'm in shock.

I had a friend visiting Berkeley from out of town so we came here to hang out and catch up. One thing that stood out to me is this place, because it's a taproom and not a brewery, is open later than the other beer places in the East Bay. Many choices of beer and cider on tap. I tried the ginger peppercorn cider and it was very unique, I've never had a cider like this flavor, it's almost like a cross between ginger beer and cider. My friends enjoyed various beers on tap. A Monkeyhead to share (or enjoy solo assuming you can walk/take bart/or uber) - finally!! Food is reasonably priced and yummy with beers. Recommend the nachos as they come or smash burgers....pairs well with beers. And staff is very attentive as this bar has tons of regulars that are NOT students!

My after work watering hole, and sometimes during work nudge nudge, wink wink say no more!…read moreGreat selection of tap beers and a full bar. Decent food menu, even have a decent veggie burger. They've got some nice veggie appetizers, cauliflower, fake chicken tender thingies, and a nice pretzel. Probably the best pretzel I've ever had. Pay the little extra for the cheese dip. Me likes the cheese bites. And I love the shishito peppers. Lotsa interesting folks come up in here, and there's some daily regulars, a real mixed bag , fun people. I met a couple people that turned out to be my good friends for the last few years. Attached is a concert hall that has some pretty interesting live music acts and very diverse from hip hop to jazz to funk to rock and roll and that dark sider stuff, heavy metal, etc. They rent the whole joint out if you have a party or they rent sections as well. Great spot for wedding rehearsal dinners, high school reunions, company parties, etc. Stimulating conversation abounds and a lot of laughter bouncing off the walls. A great place to see sporting events, especially the Warriors. Very nice patio as well with big umbrellas and fire pit. There is an odd set up as you have to go to the bar to get your drinks each time you want something. The downside could be long lines as they don't have table service but they bring you stuff. They don't take orders from the table. Some kind of crowd control thing? Or mis management or local rules? At any rate, it is a fun hang out with killer bartenders and servers. Great spot, get over here and enjoy yourself! Time to leave your crib, get off the sofa, turn off Netflix. And remember, social media is not! Let's go, get out and make Berkeley great again! Tip well the service is great!

I was an insane person and went to go see 4 concerts in 1 week, all at different venues and I have…read moreto say that this one is my favorite. I went to see the visual kei, Japanese rock band, JILUKA, here with my boyfriend and we lined up beforehand for VIP. The staff walked out, showed us the rules for the VIP that was printed on a piece of paper and explained it to us too, they walked down the line to scan us in as well. Venue itself is pretty neat. The front part is a bar area with lots of tables and seating and outdoor seating as well. Since it was before the concert, we were able to enjoy some food and drinks from the bar and kitchen. It was also during their Happy Hour too which was great. My boyfriend got a drink (not sure what it was, but it was refreshing and citrus tasting?) and we shared a Bavarian soft pretzel with mustard and we got the white cheddar dipping sauce added on for a nominal fee. One of the best pretzels that I've ever had! Deliciously soft interior, nice chew to the texture of the exterior. Comes out hot, warm and delicious. Great on it's own, but great with the sauces too. Perfect dash of the coarse salts on it. I'd get this again for sure and would like to one day order more from their menu. The live house music area is in the back in a separate room. Restrooms were clean too. Enough space for the bands to sell their merch and do a meet and greet. Wasn't a huge venue and insane turn out, but it fit the crowd and I liked how intimate setting was. I was around 3-4 rows from the front and even with a mosh pit and wall of death, I was able to shift around and see the band more clearly. Easy visibility no matter where I was shifted around. Lighting was pretty good and made it easy to take pictures and video. I think the vocals were a bit more muffled than the rest of the band members playing, but that might just be the set up more than anything. Of all the venues I stopped by for the week, this had the most approachable and friendly staff. Greeted going and as we were leaving too. I didn't overheat at this one either, so the AC was A+!! There's paid parking nearby but if you read the signs and go around, you can get free street parking too. Bring more J-rock/over seas acts here, it was so good!
