For starters: the fried calamari with cherry peppers and capers were different and delicious. The pretzel bites dipped in cheddar sauce was tasty! The ahi sushi pizza with the crispy rice, avocado,ginger soy glazed, and wasabi aioli was so different I loved it. The texture of the crispy rice was different in your mouth. The French onion soup was the biggest disappointment! It tasted watery, watered down. You couldn't even taste the onion soup broth. Even though there were onions, you couldn't taste it. Waited at the empty bar to put in a lunch order. Bartender was conversing with the only other person sitting at the bar. Waited for a while to get the bartender's attention. Never happened. Finally left. Last week I was there and the kitchen was understaffed and could not get food out. After a 30-45 minute wait we cancelled the food order and left. (The bartender did comp us for 2 drinks for the wait.) We experienced dinner in early July for the first time since the Station went under David Burke. We were excited to try it but walked away a bit disappointed. We sat outside, which was nice but we were not approached by a Server for approximately 9 minutes. As a result, we made sure to order our drinks, appetizer, and entrees all at once. The drinks arrived, and awhile later, our entrees came. We never received our appetizer. We mentioned it to the Server and he blamed the Kitchen. We asked for the Calamari to be cancelled and removed from our bill which it was. The drinks were cold, and the food was good, just the service needs to be addressed. We did miss some our favorites from the old menu, and the prices are higher as well. The hostess was flat out not friendly and acted like we were putting her out when we asked for our check. She doesn't smile, and she clearly did not want to be there. As we were leaving, the table next to us offered some of their Calamari to us which the General Manager, Orlando overheard. He provided us with his business card which we used to send him feedback but did not receive any response. We will try and return sometime in the future. Used to be a regular before the management change. Checked it out 6 weeks ago and it was average at best. Decided to try it again and it was dreadful. Calamari was greasy and 50% baby squids. Mandarin salad was worst I've ever had with honey mustard dressing tasting like spoiled milk. Place was packed, especially outside. Sent $20 salad back but they charged me for it anyway but gave me a free $11 glass of wine. TV's were not working and the music was Ozzy Osbourne and other totally inappropriate heavy metal ! What a transformation! My husband and I came back from a winter getaway to a brand new Station Pub and what a change! The menu selection is great! The food is wonderful! The salads are fresh, unique and very satisfying as a meal. My fish Taco(s) were amazing, The batter was crisp and not greasy, the slaw was fresh and not hidden in dressing. My husband loved his burger which was cooked to perfection. The atmosphere is upbeat, the decor is pleasant, we loved the Mural on the back wall and all the details of a train station through out the restaurant . The staff are on point. The hostess was great, she was cheerful and helpful and saw to it we were seated as quickly as possible. The bar staff were very attentive and great at mixing cocktails and conversation. Tried this new David Burke version. Service is non-existent. The inside is still overly dark, uninviting, and depressing. We don't know if the food is better under his ownership because although we were sitting at a table outside for almost 20 minutes with no menus, no greeting, no acknowledgment at all--when the place was completely empty inside and the server kept walking by our table looking at us but never stopped at our table and then went inside and just hung out at the bar like she had nothing to do. My husband even finally went inside to ask the bartender if someone could please come to our table. He said yes, but no one ever came out. Finally, we got up and left. Looking for somewhere new to try, my wife and I took a short drive to Bernardsville last night to dine at The Station. As the name implies, this restaurant is directly across the street from the NJ Transit stop. It's a nice spot with plenty of seating, both indoors and outside. Since it looked like rain, we went inside. There's a large bar, plenty of TV's, and lots of sports memorabilia on the walls. We both ordered a couple of special cocktails. My mule with cranberry and peach was excellent! I saw reviews mentioning how good the burgers were so I went with that. The Mountain Burger was just that...huge! It was also delicious, made with a special sauce. My wife had the panko crusted chicken and thought it was very good. Service was very friendly. Parking easy. Prices reasonable. If you're in the area, I'd definitely recommend stopping here for a meal! read more

This place NEEDS MORE STAFF! When I went a month or so ago, they were severely understaffed and my friend and I had at least four different people handling our table. We were able to be seated outside immediately, but right next to the door which was not great. Then it took at least 10 minutes for someone to get us drinks and over 20 minutes for someone to take our order. When our food came out it was okay but one with the wrong fries which we just gave up on. Although the food was pretty good and the ambience was nice for being outside, it took the staff being called 2 times to get our check then several tries for them to get us the proper check (they gave us the wrong tables check, then couldn't split it right between me and my friends food). Very Welcomin! had the most amazing and fresh ahi tuna sliders with cabbage slaw and ginger sauce AND paid less for the amount of tuna and the delicious add ons than I would have for just the fresh Tuna at Shoprite!!! The menu is just as welcoming as the people that work there. read more

I grew up in NJ, now live in AZ and visited in June for a family funeral. We arrived at The Station right before closing. The staff could not have been more welcoming and friendly to my family. The food was great, the drinks were delicious, and we appreciated the kindness after a very stressful, tiring day. This place is open for outdoor dining, curbside pick up and carryout durning the COVID pandemic. They have hand sanitizer available as you walk in. The weather was nice, so I ate on the patio. The tables also had huge umbrellas. There is free parking in the train station lot across the street and limited street parking is available, however the street parking in front of the restaurant was reserved for curb side pickup. They have an extensive food, cocktail and beer menu. I ordered the cheesesteak with bacon. It was decent. I had better. Service was ok. They were a bit slow on drink refills, but were friendly. The others in my party had some complaints about their food as well. One commented that their fish and chips was heavy on the chips and light on the fish. Another person in my party said that the chicken in their chicken Caesar salad was dry. My sandwich was a bit dry as well. My experience here was ok. Visited the station for the first time in a few years. They've really expanded their outdoor space since COVID and it looks great! Food was alright. Nothing really blew us away, but likewise nothing was disappointing. All of the staff members were very kind and accommodating to allergies. They had fair prices for food and beverages alike. Cobb salad was pretty good and I really enjoyed my strawberry mojito. My girlfriend recommend this place because she's been here before for a drink. The last time she was in, the place was packed with customers. When we arrived, there wasn't many people on a Saturday. Not gonna lie that mad us a little nervous. Here's how it went. We ordered one of their drinks off the special menu and my girlfriend had a beer. Her beer wasn't that cold for some reason. My drink was in a smaller glass than I expected. I was kind of annoyed by that because of the price. We ordered a chicken Cesar and The Knock Out wrap. Both were delicious and it came out pretty fast. The staff and head of the restaurant were friendly. One star comes off for the drinks and another star has to go for the prices. One Cocktail, Beer, and two wraps $52.00 is pricey. I know times are tough and prices are on the rise but still expensive. read more

Back in my long-ago drinking/Opioid ingesting days, the Station was a bucket of blood ginmill, and nothing more. I don't remember coming here much to drink (I much preferred going to NYC, or north Jersey, or...well, ANYWHERE other than small town Bernardsville, where I hadn't lived for very long, but was still desperate to escape from). Some of the friends I had made since moving to the town with my family while I was in my teens, however-- those who grew up in the area--- seemed to find the Station congenial and conducive to regular imbibing. One died of a massive heart attack in his 30s, one died of liver disease, one is still alive but has an assortment of health issues, one is currently battling cirrhosis, and one has since heroically sobered up, albeit not without having incurred permanent damage to himself. Not that I blame the previous incarnation of the Station for that. After all, there were other bars they could have been drinking at (and they often did). But it's not necessarily a place of good memories for me. I'm not sure when the Station made the transition from a bucket of blood ginmill to a restaurant. I came here about 10 years ago in the summer with my birth mother, wanting to show her the area where I had spent a portion of my teenaged years and most of my young manhood (as well as my approaching "golden years," since in my adulthood I only moved a few towns over-- guess in some sense I never really "escaped.") We ate at the Station. I don't remember the food as being particularly distinctive, one way or the other, but we were plagued by flies, and I've never been in any hurry to return. Recently, I was in the area with my old friend (the now sober one), and we decided to give it a try. It's in the same location, directly across from the Bernardsville train station. The front is illuminated with what appear to be white Christmas lights. Inside, the configuration of the restaurant/bar (it does still have a bar) is as I remember it, although my friend says it has changed, and I guess he'd be in a better position to know. Instead of rowdy wastrels, the crowd...such as it...seems to be comprised of whatever they call Young Urban Professionals now (although Bernardsville is hardly urban, it is very wealthy, although the area where I passed my teenage years...then heavily and historically Italian...is not. My old friend's ancestors were brought over from Italy by the enormously wealthy Robber Barons and "beautiful people" living up in the mountains...Malcolm Forbes, John Jacob Astor, Charles Pfizer, Clarence Dillon, Meryl Streep, Jackie Onassis and Mike Tyson have all resided in the area at one time or another...to work as masons and gardeners on their luxurious estates. They settled in the area that has pejoratively been called by a few benighted bigots "guinea gulch.") We were seated at a corner table. Although the walls have been painted white, the atmosphere was dark, although not oppressively so. There's sports memorabilia on the walls, as well as a poster of "the Hanson brothers" from one of the funniest sports movies of all time-- "Slap Shot." Seeing the poster cheered me. I wasn't sure how the meal was going to turn out, but at least the people running the place have good taste in movies. My friend ordered French Onion Soup and a hamburger (they have several variations you can choose from). He liked the soup, which was topped by Monterrey Jack and Swiss Cheese. I could smell the cheese from where I was sitting, and my sense of smell is not all that acute, so I don't know if that's a good thing or bad. He was equally enthusiastic about the burger. I was tempted by the Chicken Pot Pie that was listed on the menu, but I've yet to order Chicken Pot Pie in any restaurant that was worth much, so I settled instead for a Turkey Reuben Sandwich with fries. Generally, I prefer the more traditional Reuben, but what I had was pretty good, and filling. I'm not a big French Fries fan, but these were crisp, which is how I like them when I do have them. One of the previous reviews on Yelp referred to the fare as "good bar food." I'm not sure how accurate that really is. I've never thought there was such a thing as "good bar food." At best, bar food is mediocre. (I once dated a bartender who let me eat from the "bar food" menu for free in the bar where she worked; I was happy to not have to pay for the food...she still charged me for the drinks...but that didn't make the food any more palatable.) Everything we had was good. They do have steak listed on the menu-- not sure I'd order a steak here, but if you're coming in for a burger or a Reuben, or something similar, it's perfectly fine. I couldn't resist finishing off my meal with a brownie topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and my "sweet tooth" thanked me, even if my waistline didn't. Overall, the prices seemed fair, service was friendly and efficient, and we left satisfied, with full stomachs. I'd recommend it. read more

My daughter and her friends went to The Station last night. All of the girls are college seniors and are over 21. They ordered drinks and the waitress accused them of using fake ids (not true) and was extremely rude! When the manager was called, the manager was also rude and told the girls to "go back to Morristown", whatever that means. Of course they left without eating, and the manager gave them the finger and took a picture of their license plate on their way out! I took my two daughters out for lunch on Monday.We love Bernardsville & were excited to go there. The atmosphere was very cozy and inviting. Started off with bang bang shrimp as an appetizer. It looked and tasted like Costco fried shrimp with their own sauce. I had the beet salad which was delicious. The shrimp tacos were very good also What a disappointment with the Ruben sandwich The meat was tough and chewy and the french fries were pale and not crispy $17 for a really bad sandwich!! During the pandemic, we have been ordering from local restaurants to support our community. We have been going to The Station and taking friends there since we moved here 5 years ago and I was always impressed with both the food and the service. We ordered a few meals from The Station through Grubhub tonight and started to get concerned because it was taking over 2 hours. I reached out to Grubhub and they called me and said The Station cancelled our entire order because they did not have one of the items. While waiting on our order, my husband had called The Station 7 times within a 30 minute period and kept getting a busy signal. My husband finally got through to The Station after Grubhub notified us of the cancellation. The woman who answered the phone, put the owner on to speak with him. She explained that the salad we ordered hasn't been on the menu for "5 years", even though I just ordered this salad 2 weeks ago through Grubhub . The manager then told my husband that Grubhub was "trash" and we should have ordered directly through The Station. Why would a business that thinks a delivery service is "trash" continue to use them? It was a beautiful night to sit outside for happy hour. The only thing is that the website still advertises happy hour when in actuality, they stopped doing it for Covid. The waitress, Stephanie, was so kind and personable. The service was adequate. The food was delicious! My boyfriend got the fish and chips and I got the Train Wreck. We liked this everyday kickback and watch some sports bar. We were staying next door at the Bernards Inn and had some time to kill before the wedding. Imagine a large area with a large center square bar in the middle..... add about 10 tv's playing football and you have a good idea of what this is. Prices were reasonable for the area. We grabbed a beer but did not get the food because of a time crunch. The beer selection was fair but did not have a deep bench of IPA's like I like. But still - a blue moon fit the bill.
