ROADTRIP! Second stop worth mentioning occurs in Wellsboro PA at the Steak House. I found it on the recommendation of a competitor, Who also made the reservations for me! He couldn't have been more spot on place was packed. Staff was friendly Service was almost too fast and enjoying a nice pre-dinner drink, Woodford sour, if you must know, and ordered the FiletMignon 8 ounce , cooked perfectly to request with vegetable of the day, garlic broccoli, soup of the day, ham and bean, and a tossed salad. Maybe steakhouse fair maybe a little edgy without the baked potato, but the steak was a star of the show. Everything was incredible again my apologies for being so excited about the meal. I didn't include a photograph, but the Steak House is one of several that help Wellsboro Pennsylvania punch above its weight in the culinary scene and interesting small town eateries. We mad reservations here for 4 and got seated right away and drinks while we talked and thought about food. The food was great and came out quick. Only complaint was the asparagus was cold. After we ate we stayed about an hour having a few drinks and chatting with friends. Great place to eat and meet up for a drink! read more

It's called the steak house but the steak had no seasoning. So A1 sauce is the only way to eat it. The Alfredo sauce didn't taste like it had any garlic or parm in it. It tasted like milk and flour, so white gravy on noodles. It was not worth the 150 for 5 people. The server, Kelly, was amazing. Fine dining set up. Would not recommend, because I'm from the south, and seasoning is 80% of the food quality. The only thing I do recommend is getting the spinach artichoke dip. read more

This is one of our favorite places to eat in Wellsboro. The service is great and the food never disappoints. I love to start the meal with the fried zucchinis and a frozen piña colada. The desserts are delicious and they have a nice variety of pies, plus you can order a strawberry shortcake with a candle on birthday celebrations. The Steak House is my go to when traveling near Wellsboro for an awesome dinner. Family owned and operated. I arrived tonight pretty late (8:00pm). I have never come in the front door before; and first time noticing the sidewalk seating. The bar area is small and is part of the front dining area. Tonight the bar was very busy, with no seats available. I ended up being seated at a comfortable booth with a view of the bar. TVs are visible in the front dining area for patrons watching tonight's game. So yes, if you've read other reviews TSH is on the pricey side for rural PA. I think you'll find that the service (thanks Tina) and food are very good with a divmenu with daily specials. Tonight I ordered the sirloin and shrimp special. 8oz center cut sirloin with 5 sugar skewered shrimp and 3 sides for $35. My fault I'm not a big sirloin fan but again it was very good. The shrimp and green beens were excellent. The baked potato was a baked potato. I would have like it loaded with bacon, cheese, chives, etc.; my third side was a salad. One of the other reason I like coming here is the draft beer selection is usually good, but limited to 5 taps. Not bad for a small restaurant. If you're into cocktails, they also have a nice cocktail menu. The absolute best part of the evening was the toasted coconut pie. WOW. I will say, if you decide to get the black gold steak, it is VERY garlicky. The initial garlic flavor is good, but after chewing for a bit, and once you swallow, it's like you got a garlic gunshot in the mouth, which is unpleasant. 60 yrs+ type of place I couldn't help but feeling looked down on when I walked in because of I wasn't 65 years old. Place pretends to be fancy but I'm here to tell you it's far more expensive then it is fancy. My wife ordered a medium rare steak and got a burnt shoe instead. ok, first, this is my first time at this restaurant but I've been in wellsboro and Mansfield many times and we, myself and my fiancé love the area and small town feel. our first time in the restaurant so we weren't aware that you could do reservation. However, they have a patio option for those that don't have reservations with a heated patio. I mean come on. enough of that. From the hostess, to the server, bartender, appetizers, dinner and desserts. Myself and my fiancé have never been so impressed. Even though we didn't make reservations our service was prompt and efficient and kind and just overall amazing. we had the charcuterie board, the spinach artichoke dip, bone in ribeye, steak fries, new clam chowder, beef mushroom soup and with every bite we had mushroom and beef and clams and potatoes. The ribeye was glazed with a bourbon glaze and mushroom. Without out a doubt one of the best dinner experiences we have ever had. Stopped by for dinner en route to Gaines PA for an annul fishing trip with my husband. He ordered the filet mignon and I ordered Scallops Marsala. He enjoyed his meal though I did not! Here's the description: Broiled Sea Scallop sand sautéed mushrooms tossed in a Marsala cream sauce over spaghetti noodles. The only hint of Marsala wine was on the little portion of mushrooms they put on top of the white cream sauce. It was tasteless except for the mushrooms. I returned it and asked for just the scallops. I got the scallops with nothing else on the dish along with an attitude from the server. I also got the dirty eye look from the hostess (I could tell, even with the dark eye makeup she wore) as my husband got the sweet as pie 'thank you!' He obviously gave them a good tip. Ok, so it didn't look like much from outside... BUT IT WAS AMAZING! A holiday weekend had the wait up to an hour... beautiful little town, though, so we said ok, we will return in an hour. We were seated and the service was very nice, very attentive and understanding of my dietary needs (ok, I'm PICKY, have a few good allergies and was sitting in a steak house, ME, a strict vegetarian! Lol. My husband ordered seafood, said it was GREAT. I ordered a salad with walnuts, cheese, and grapes. I also had a baked potato and delicious bread. Super simple food, done very well. We then had cherry pie for dessert. It was PERFECT. It was cold, which was , but the crust was still SO YUMMY. The ambiance was not outstanding, but the decor was cute and well done, the bathroom was extra tidy and the experience was TOP notch. I highly recommend you stop in- best food in town! read more

We were recommended to eat here by a friend and now we pass that forward. It was a busy night but the service was great. The charcuterie board and roasted portobello mushrooms were perfectly sized delicious apps to share with the 5 of us. For the main course, our filet mignons were absolute perfection and marinated steak salad incredibly good. We were glad we managed to fit in a shared a slice of their homemade bourbon pecan pie and a slice of cheesecake. Looking forward to going back one day! read more

Had dinner here on a Wednesday evening, no reservation but they seated us immediately. The service was fantastic. Side salads were fresh and nicely sized. We both had the filet and they were very nice cuts of meat that were trimmed to perfection. It wasn't a unique dining experience (and those can be overrated), but everything was well prepared, delightfully served, and fairly priced. We would absolutely stop there again. read more

Terrific house made Bleu Cheese dressing as was the low cal Ranch dressing (crazy good). Warm bread. Perfect sirloin, Perfect seared tuna. Really good fried shrimp. My wife and I had Valentine's Day dinner there last night. It was the BEST Valentine's Day dinner experience that we had ever had. In the past at other restaurants we've experienced long waits for a table, despite reservations, a "special" Valentine's Day menu (less selection and higher prices) and poor service. Yesterday we were seated very quickly, with the standard menu with normal specials, had great service and delicious dinners. While in town with three of my colleagues, we called ahead to make a reservation for dinner last night at The Steakhouse. We arrived a few minutes early and we were instantly led to the table. The restaurant tables were quickly filling up around us yet the service was still efficient. I ordered the 6 ounce petite filet done medium with broccoli and mashed potatoes. Okay, so my bf and I went to Wellsboro this past weekend for a getaway and we decided to try the steakhouse. I have to say the tables are close, the restaurant small, and I was nervous, because the staff was wearing these clear plastic face shields/mouth masks that I'm 100% certain do NOT protect against COVID. I'll post a pic of what I'm talking about. But we nervously sat and wore our masks. Anyway, I got the filet which was perfect, and my bf got the NY strip, which was medium well rather than medium rare (but he never complains) and really was good. The best part about this place was desert. Their walnut pie was amazing! Like beyond amazing! Id drive the 4 hours for another slice of that pie, but will order takeout if it's still in the times of COVID 19. My only suggestion is to BUY SOME REAL MASKS! And space the tables apart one after the other should be empty. This really is a good restaurant though. read more
