We made reservations; waited where we were told and within 5 min of our reservation, a Still staff member came and got us to lead us through the little secret entrance. We sat at the bar then later moved outside to the enclosed court yard with couch seating & fire pits. The cocktails were unique and delicious! Service was great but we did go a bit later so it wasn't overly packed. The Still really prides themselves on one of a kind cocktails and this takes more effort than a draft beer, so be patient -these cocktails are worth it! Thanks to The Still & pinup bartender!! Of all the times I've been to the restaurant this is within, I never knew this gem was there... but that's the whole point, right? I had heard rumors of a speakeasy in Tucson, and yes it's true. I won't give away all the fun, but I love the reservation process and the funky way you check in! From what I have heard, this is one of the only, if not THE only, speakeasy in Tucson. The ambiance is exactly what I had hoped for, dark and moody, with a "hidden" entrance. I loved that there was indoor and outdoor seating options, especially with the outdoor fireplace. I am hoping one day they offer selections of food from the front (or even to go as I was hoping for), and wine options. The bartender did an excellent job with finding my friend and I cocktails we would both enjoy, we just gave descriptions of what we prefer, and he created something unique for each of us. Awful experience, I went Saturday night very excited to experience the hidden speakeasy for the first time. when we arrived for our reservation we made 5 days in advance we waited forever for our table. Come to find out they over booked the room! When we were able to finally go back to "the still" the room wasn't even hidden because the door was wide open, so the experience was like being taken to another part of busy and packed restaurant. We tried to make the best of it but when we ordered food my pizza was undercooked and had raw dough in the middle of it. Still trying to make the best of it we asked for a cigar menu and was told we would get one and never did. When I asked if it was possible if we could see what it was like with door being closed i was told that they didn't do that anymore. When the bartender saw we were upset and disappointed, they proceeded to say to one another," well if you make your reservation too late this is what you get!" This place is really cool and different. I highly recommend it. The only thing is, there is this bartender here, who is simply put, really unfriendly. She talks down to her helper in a really condescending way, seems like she doesn't want to be here. Since going there I have spoken to some people in the industry and they're like "Oh yeah her? My absolute favorite place to go to. if you want to be struck by absolute knowledge about different cocktails, have one of the bartenders, like Robert, make you a cocktail by just describing different flavors and making something incredible. I'm a huge fan of speakeasies and was excited to try this one out. After reading the reviews it was suggested to make reservations so tried calling and reached the " original" restaurant which then gave the number to the speakeasy. I tried calling for over an hour and was unable to leave a message due to mailbox full. I decided to just drive over there as the reviews also stated that they do take walk ins. When we arrived at the restaurant we asked about how to enter the speakeasy and again we given a number to call. The host stated that they weren't super busy so they should be able to let us in...... again I started to call and she then told me they only take texting..... ummm.... definitely something you should have stated when customers call about the speakeasy to begin with. I texted the number this time with what the hosted suggested to say which was " hi, we are here do you have room for 2?" We waited 5 minutes... no response, since I had a different area code (which shouldn't matter... but some people think wrong number) I added that I was in fact in Tucson.....still no response. Frustrated with the fact that a good almost now 2 hours have been wasted trying to JUST get a hold of this place I sent 1 last message stated we were leaving and how I would be leaving a review. It was only then that they had the decency to finally respond back. Stated they ONLY take reservations and that they were busy attending to their guest. 1st please explain how these guest were even able to make these "reservations" since you never respond. 2nd please advise the staff at the restaurant to be better informed to give customers accurate information regarding your bar or here's a thought have someone from your bar actually be available to speak with customers inquiring and or trying to make these "required" reservations. I think there's a super secret special way to get here ;) This is my second time coming here (first we were inside...now outside..which was renovated) It is very small venue so that's why there's special reservations...but it is a very cool vibe for sure...the inside is very speakeasy vibe and 1920s....outside is a small patio with a few tables around a fire (great for the winter) I tried their Amorreto sour (idk how to spell it)...but it was amazing...i've had this drink at other bars before but this is hands down the best version!!! so get it if you love sweet drinks... They have plenty of other special drinks that they make super special (which makes everything pricey about $12 a drink) and it does take a little bit of time...esp if you have a large group (so keep that in mind) They forgot the drink of one of the girls in our group...but in the end they ended up comping it which was nice... I didn't know where I was being taken to, so the element of surprise added a lot to the evening. My husband was text messaging someone and could not help but giggle as we waited in odd places - per text instruction -. Eventually someone came to retrieve us and took us to a discreet area of the bar. Behind a hidden wall is a little, dark bar. It was warm, appropriately decorated, and dimly lit. I felt like I was in a hole in the wall. One bartender, dressed in a vintage dress, was along for the 1920s feel too, talking quietly, moving about and tending to her drinks,the other bartender, not so much. The rules of the bar are apt and appreciated: no flash photography, no phone calls (texting ok) and talk quietly, among others. We tried the hand-crafted amaretto sours on recommendation from a friend. I loved the smooth taste and sweetness of it. Absolutely delicious and the way an amaretto sour is supposed to taste, like it was costing my throat with each sip. We ended up having 2 each, a decision we would only regret because of the bill. We also sampled two appetizers; the hickey skewers and friend deviled eggs. The skewers can be skipped: good enough, but nothing to write home about. The deviled eggs, however, are worth going here for. Perfectly sized, fried, and presented on a bed of diced tomatoes, I found myself scraping the plate with my fork to not leave a morsel behind. The menu changes every two weeks, so that's a draw to go back again and sample what is new. Why not 5 stars? Eh, there was just something missing. Perhaps ambiance, a certain buzz, or maybe it was the buzz kill from the bill. $75 (before tip) for 4 drinks and 2 appetizers. I enjoyed our outing but was done and ready to move on after 45 minutes. Our reservation was set for Friday early in the week, when the day before we get a text "sorry there's a party coming in that day, can you come Saturday instead?" Here's my issue: Either the party was full of people much more important and us & other patrons who were already scheduled to force the hostess to cancel or there was a mistake (again, like last time) and the reservation wasn't even made. I really wanted to like this place. However,there were very little redeeming factors about this place given what Tucson has to offer in terms of ambiance, pricing, and quality. The good factor was that the staff, both the waiter and the bartender Cass, were really nice and attentive. However, the price point, which I assume is set by ownership, left a lot to be desired. The drink menu has no prices and is printed on 8 by 11 paper with no flair taking away from the vibe. Half the specialty menu were basics like a Manhattan or Old Fashion. Having no prices on the menu for drinks where you pick the liquor is one thing, but none of their drinks have prices and we were never told what we would be charged. When we decided to have a second round, we were informed that the minimum for any drink is $18. I got a Whistle Pig 6 year rye which is 8 bucks at most bars who have it for $18. I could have got two anywhere else. A bar of that purported caliber shouldn't even carry that spirit frankly. The Old Fashion was fine but not great, and for $18 was terrible. Two people at our table got spritzes which again we're 18 bucks each. In a city with Sidecar and Portal, there is absolutely no reason to go here. The drinks are way more expensive and way worse than most craft cocktails bars. I think they rely on Eastside and Foothills money customers to sustain but anyone wanting a good cocktail, regardless of price, should go elsewhere. Even the Speakeasy concept was presented in an excessively pretentious way and the ambiance was underwhelming. It felt like just another back bar in Vero Amore with no attention to what it means to build a speakeasy ambiance. Four drinks and $80 later for my partner and I and we will not return. read more

Our first and probably last outing here. This place is self defeating. They stress two very important "rules" on their website, on their menu, and in person when you're being seated: no photography of people in your party, and quietness is preferred. So you can imagine how silly it is that the loudest people in this dimly lit, 10 x 20 beacon of mediocrity were the 3 employees working in there Saturday night. Loudly talking about everything from their boss to college, which was clearly more important than bringing us water or refills or offering more beverages, which they forgot until I had to make eye contact with them... at which point I felt I was inconveniencing them. The drinks had no texture and no unique flavor, except the Amaretto sour which was great. The scotch and port cocktail was like drinking tar. My wife's blue cocktail was equal to any dive. The food is limited to appetizers, all of which range from 0 stars to a height of 2.5 stars. I'll start with the winner, the gorgonzola meatballs, which were a cheesy meatball soup that was flavorful because gorgonzola is flavorful. The antipasto was equal to an Olive bar at any grocery store. The bruschetta was worse than Olive Garden. The rice balls were pedestrian. And the worst offense, the fried shrimp, were flavorless, too crispy, and just awful. Then a table sits to our right, and immediately starts taking bright flashed pictures of themselves. We point this out to our server who basically dismissed the rules as playful guidelines. They offered to comp our desserts because of an earlier mix up on their end. That meant 1 dessert, not 2. Called and spoke with Shannon, told her everything, she said she would tell the owner and took my number, offered an apology. She did, at least, agree that they should have comped both desserts. Do yourself a favor. Save the $120, go buy a fake candle, 10 lbs of artichoke hearts from Safeway, invite your noisy neighbors over, turn off all the lights and sit in your closet, and just think "Still Speakeasy". Definitely going back! I have never been to a speakeasy before but the name is suggested by the title. It is a place where people go to wind down and speak amongst friends. They create a perfectly paired cocktail of your choosing which if you are looking for a bar scene with tons of people waiting for drinks and expensive drinks cheaply made this is not your place. I would say this is perfect for drinks and food and the service is outstanding. Definitely going back! Drink suggestions: amaretto sour, piso sour! (no alcoholic taste whatsoever). When I heard there was going to be an Indian Night sponsored by one of my favorite restaurants, the Twisted Tandoor, I knew I had to go. I had never been, but I had heard whispers of this hidden speakeasy. I texted the secret number posted on Facebook and made my reservation. When we arrived, we were spirited away to a darkened room, with an old record player and (flameless) candles on the tables. The ambiance was very cool, and I was looking forward to a good night. Boy was I wrong. We quickly ordered drinks and food, and eagerly awaited our orders...and we waited...and waited...and after about 30 minutes of waiting my wife noticed some panicked chatter behind the bar. It seems they forgot to put in our drink order. About 10 minutes later we finally got our drinks with the only explanation from our server being, "Sorry that took a minute." No ma'am, it took 40. The Indian inspired cocktails were incredible. We assumed our food would be right behind the cocktails. Once again I was mistaken. 20 minutes later I saw another table that had arrived after us receiving food. That was it for me, I finally asked our server what was going on, she gave a halfhearted excuse, saying everyone put food orders in at once. Really? That means it will take over an hour? There are only about 12 tables in this place, and only about 8 of them had patrons. Well another 20 minutes later and our food arrived. It was absolutely delicious (albeit not the fare of the establishment). If you're keeping track, it took 40 minutes for drink, and 80(!) for food. I debated a lot as to what to rate The Still. The drinks were some of the best I've had, and the food was incredible as well. Since the food wasn't really theirs, I decided I couldn't count it in the rating. So all I'm left with is the atmosphere, the drinks and the service. I would rate the atmosphere a 4 (it was a little too dark, but I get it) and the drinks a 5. With the service being a 0, that brings the average to a 3. Then I realized that this was literally the worst service I'd ever received and knocked off another star. I'm honestly not sure I'll go back to The Still. If I do I will update this review with what goes down, and hope for a better experience. read more

I had the most fabulous birthday party ever at the Still. I rented the venue for the evening and everything was awesome. Before the party, I me t with Brent to select food to be served and then I met with the Special bartender, Cassie, to plan some signature drinks. I set up my own playlist of ragtime music and sent out the invites. What a roaring success. Everyone loved dressing up. Everyone loved the venue and the special prohibition era cocktails. Delicious drinks, very nice all female staff, cozy atmosphere and yummy bites. This a great spot to come for a relaxing drink or nightcap. In traditional speakeasy style, you must have the phone number to text in a reservation request. They are very communicative so there is no confusion as to where to go. Once inside, the atmosphere does have an old fashioned/1920s/prohibition look with even a record player playing the music. There is a large door in the back leading outside which the staff uses to go in and out and this makes the back table a bit warm. There is generally a patio with outside seating, which although not traditional speakeasy, is great for Tucson weather. Providing a food menu is also uniqure to a speakeasy but it was nice to have some bites to eat. I would love to return to try the new menu which changes every 2 weeks. I went with a group of 8 but would probably try to stick with a max of 4 since the place is small and the cocktails are individually crafted and do take some time. The wait is worth it. We ended up eating at Vero Amore and text The Still when we were ready to enter the speakeasy. They text us back with a meeting point and quickly met us to allow us access.
