I asked if she could make me something that didn't taste at all like alcohol and she stepped right up to make it happen! I like fruity stuff and the drink she pulled together fit the bill. I also had a Jell-O shot and a bag of Fritos. There's a (modern-day version of a) jukebox as well as an old phone booth in the corner which for whatever reason gave me great joy to see. There are also two pool tables. It's a small place so when it gets crowded I'm sure it's packed. We showed up at 5 p.m. on a Saturday night so it was still lightly attended which worked great for us to just hang out, drink, and chat. The only real issue, and it happens pretty often, is the service speed. Everyone there is friendly, but the place always feels understaffed, especially when it's busy. We've had multiple times sitting outside in the Arizona heat where it takes 15-20 minutes just to get water to the table, and you start wondering if you should go up to the bar yourself to get things moving. Once service gets going everything is fine, but getting that first round of attention can take longer than it should for how often this place fills up. Even with that, we keep coming back. The food is consistent, the atmosphere is great, and the plaza has a real sense of community that makes it easy to hang out there for a while. It's one of our go-to spots in Tucson, and it's still somewhere we bring friends when they're visiting.
