Worst restaurant in town. Do not come here the chefs are terrible at what they do and extreme disrespectful when caught doing something wrong. I ordered food to go and watched the chef stick his hand in my to go box, take out the chicken and put it on a plate for inside the restaurant. When I addressed it both chefs started talking shit to me and the waitresses were all rude as well. I never got my chicken which I paid extra for and the pasta was terrible. Talk about overpriced too.. We will never come back here the chefs are extremely trashy and management clearly is just as bad if that is how they run a restaurant. Slow service and all I ordered was tater tots. Sat at the bar and wasn't impressed however there is a cute area in the same building with small trinkets and items to buy from local artist. There is also a small salad bar and ice cream available. Probably wouldn't recommend if you're wanting a quick meal. read more

Prime Ribeye from the owner's ranch left A LOT TO BE DESIRED. Prime Ribeye $85. So fatty yo can't eat them. Steaks so thin add 2 slices of bread make a sandwich. Use fatty old white bread because the steaks don't deserve better. Dinner salad was comparable to a diner. The ribeyes were ill prepared , no bread, vegetables were about as bad as the steak in preparation. Over $230 for two people and the wait staff were dressed like they just came from high school. We didn't try the $10 - $20 because the only ones were for kids. Even the margaritas was difficult to drink. Go to a steak where the owner doesn't give you what he couldn't sell. read more

I am writing this in real time. Walked through the door and stood for five minutes before anyone came from back to acknowledge we were here. We sat down and the young lady asked for our drink order. She brought half the drinks and about three minutes later brought the other half. Let's review the drink order, three lemonades and three unsweetened teas. We then ordered cheese sticks for table and they arrived and we had not been given any plates, napkins or silverware. Guess it's a hands on free for all. We then proceeded to place our order and my daughter asked what the soup of the day was, as instructed on the menu, and we were told quote "I don't know it changes every day". This is when I started to look for cameras because surely we are being punked. Our orders arrive to the table and she forgot to put one in, so we had to wait to feed one. They did comp that order due to her mistake. So now we are eating and she comes by about five minutes in and ask if we are ready for boxes? Do you want me go or what? My wife looks over at me and says that maybe she is in training? If that is the case I might suggest someone shadow her. I still gave three stars because the food was good. Very sad because this place looks really cool and fun. Unfortunately, for this traveler, The StokeHouse is just another restaurant rather than a destination spot. read more

We really liked it here and it made us want to make a point to come here for some hiking, possibly fishing, sometime during the summer. We were on our way back from a road trip and just typed in "local restaurants" and guess what popped up!?!? We are so glad! We walked in and immediately noticed the mercantile next to it, the decor, and the historical building feel. We were told to sit wherever, and ordered some appetizers and drinks right away. Service was not fast per se, it can only be described as laid back and not rushed. We popped over to the mercantile while we waited and fell in love with the place. If we weren't in a bit of a rush to get home we may have stayed and shopped a bit. Such a charming place with very friendly employees. We had the privilege to meet the chef, Candace, who couldn't have been more gracious. She showed us around the space, including the "safe room" (it used to be a bank and a post office, among other things) with a vault as the door. We also saw the patio outside/ event space. She said they hold events there and it looked charming. We ordered brussels sprouts and the cheese sticks for our appetizers, and I wouldn't call them fancy or unique, but they were good and did the job. For our entrées, we ordered the quinoa salad and the mac & cheese with added chicken. Both were done very well and we left satisfied. We will be back! read more

Been there several times and just have to say it's not great.. cold food ok service, atmosphere is bar like, not really nice steakhouse. My hubby had the tacos he said they were bad. My hamburger was good but small. Salad bar was not stocked and not a lot of choices, empty mostly. It has such good potential but needs a good manager to get everyone doing their job properly. Our prime rib was decent to well and drinks available from the full bar. Attended a Murder Mystery Dinner here and had a great time- didn't win! The service was medium slow. Building is separated into a bar and restaurant. We hit the restaurant the first night and the bar the second night. Service at both were good and personable. Winter hours for the restaurant are problematic as they close at 7. We had the tacos the first visit and they were pretty good. The second visit we had burgers. The burgers were very good but small for the price. The Voodoo Ranger on tap was cold both nights. On the fence between four and five stars. read more

It's a super cool space! The bar/restaurant is so loud you can't hear yourself think or hear conversation. Took 40 minutes after we ordered to be told the meal three out of four of us ordered wasn't available. Meals delivered were staggered after that. This is a gem of a building and space - the mercantile next door is awesome. Gotta work on the basics of a restaurant though. read more

I cook shrimp every way it can possibly be fixed and it takes me 15 minutes! We received our plates and my onion rings were on my husband' plate???? And, I had french fries on my plate????!!! She took our order into her own hands and told the cook to do that? I waited forever to catch her and ask why she did that? She sarcastically replied - "Well you weren't going to eat them anyway!!" Out of good restaurant etiquette, they should have been placed on my plate since it was MY order!!!!! THE PO BOY SCHRIMP SANDWICH I ordered was disgusting!!!!!! The shrimp was nasty and deep fried! The menu did not mention that and I would not have ordered it if I knew that!!! THERE WAS NO COLESLAW IN THE SANDWICH AT ALL as it was detailed in the Menu description. I asked her why there was no coleslaw and she again sarcastically answered, "It's that right there!" pointing to three pieces of shredded lettuce on my plate. I informed her coleslaw is made with cabbage, NOT LETTUCE!!! She said, "Well, that's how we make it!!"....very embarrassingly to save face. ‍ We had ordered two of their homemade brews - and they both tasted horribly watered down!!! The best place in South Colorado! They had steak and lobster for a good price, the special was sushi tacos that were fresh and delicious! Awesome drinks and a really good martini. Friendly staff and a fun vibe! 10/10 read more
