What a gem Crafty Canary Brewing Company turned out to be. We were greeted like old friends by the business owner (a woman, too: go girl Boss!) and continued to enjoy our entire experience. The owner was accommodating and just as much as a positive vibe as her delightful little brewery. While enjoying their carefully curated and delightful food (of which we ordered the lentil soup and Kung Poa beef), my friend mused, "how do people get to that level of cool?" We all agreed. If a place is an extension of the love and spirit invested into it, Crafty Canary is love embodied. I've never had a flight where every beer in the flight was not just enjoyable but had me wondering if I need to move to a small town in Colorado.

I said Vodka & Tonic water, he said "What's Tonic water." I gave up and wanted a Pendleton whiskey, which again, they do not have. . I gave up and just ordered rum and coke. After looking at the bar, I realized they have very little as far as liquor. About 10-12 bottles. Food was good. I got the chicken fried steak and it was pretty good. Breading didn't crack away from the steak, the sides were good, and the gravy was really good. Salad was simple but also really good. Others got the pub steak, and I think one of the burritos. All said the food was good. We all got some bread pudding to go which was really good later on. I had the Alpine Burger & substituted a side salad for fries. Burgers are 1/2 pound grass fed beef patties. My burger came with melted Swiss cheese, grilled mushrooms, onions, lettuce, tomato & pickles. Not only was my burger big, it was cooked perfectly & delicious. The grilled mushrooms & melted cheese were yummy too. The side salad was plain but good, it also was a big portion, however it was served on a too small of a plate, making it difficult to mix the salad dressing in. My companion ordered the Spaghetti & Meatballs from the happy hour menu. We were told the portion is the same as from the regular menu. It was $14. ($18 on regular menu.) It was a generous portion with three large meatballs. I opted for the Picatta Pasta at $12 and added four shrimp for an extra $6. They gave me five so I'm not sure if the chef made a mistake or was just feeling generous. I'll say the latter! The dish had tomatoes, capers, lemon, and white wine. The only thing I'd add to my taste would be pine nuts! We both totally enjoyed our meals including the bread! I forced myself to leave a little for lunch the next day and it was even better then! Comments I heard from around the dinner were equally enthusiastic about their meals, especially those who ordered the mussels. We're in town for a week and I don't usually go back to the same restaurant twice when I'm visiting a new location but my companion and I are definitely going back again before we leave. Unless the bartender has medical experience and equipment, I disagree with her, and this could cause them to get into trouble in case of a medical emergency; medical attention would be delayed when an untrained bartender is the one to assess first.

We sat down and the waiter, who was very young and bubbly, brought us water and took our order: Two Cheeseburger Deluxes. It took forever to get those burgers. We were enjoying each other's company so we didn't really mind, but the wait was noticeable. What was really annoying was the one other table in the restaurant... one guy just talked and talked and talked very LOUDLY about all his buddies in town. Incessantly talked for the entire time we were there. Not the restaurant's fault, but super distracting. When our burgers finally arrived, we ate them quickly. They were ok, nothing special. We just wanted to get out. The waiter, we suspect might have been the owner's son because he seemed quite young. He was really kind and personable. Very pleasant young man!
