This place is a real gem! We stopped for an early dinner. Our server was very kind and helpful. She helped us choose our entrees and provided us with everything we needed. Our meals were both outstanding! I had the Pistachio-Crusted Salmon, which was to die for, and my husband had the Seafood Carbonara. Both were delicious!! Went with a group for dinner on Saturday. A couple of people in our party started with ordering the old-fashioned. Both felt that it was not a well-mixed cocktail, possibly missing the simple syrup or sugar. Our group ordered chicken marsala, Parmesan crusted chicken salad, roasted beet salad, chicken & broccoli fettuccine Alfredo and pappardelle with chicken. The food arrived quickly and presentation was good. However, all of our dishes seemed to be under seasoned and rather bland. Breadsticks or pretzel breadsticks served along with the meals were cold. My husband and I decided to try a little more upscale restaurant , so we chose the Stone cellar! I'm so glad we did. First of all the building inside is absolutely stunning. My waitress was on point, she did a great job. The food oh my lanta, we ordered the cheesesteak egg rolls which was one of the best things I've ever eaten! I chose the crab cakes ( was just a smidge burned to my liking but still absolutely delicious) the big lumps of crab is so beyond appreciated. My husband did the NY steak and it was a beautiful cut and made exactly how he likes it. The place is pricey for the town but it's honestly a place I WILL be returning too. I quite enjoyed this place! The atmosphere of the gray stone piazza was so incredible! The detail of the painted ceilings and beautiful doors are captivating and stunning! The restaurant itself is a bit dim, which I personally don't mind at all however others with different vision needs may find it difficult to read menus. We were very kindly greeted by the host. And our waitress was very helpful! The menu itself provides an offer of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, and surprisingly tacos! They provide a variety of seafood amongst these offerings. Our group ordered a pastrami sandwich with truffle fry's, chicken cheesestake (I just found out that was a thing myself), Apple harvest salad, kids chicken tenders, and I ordered the tacos. The presentation of everything was stunning! Wonderfully plated! My dish was nice and filling, a perfect portion of food. And truly it was quite delectable however I had a few problems with the dish... first of all, the kitchen kindly was able to make me blackened chicken tacos which technically aren't on the menu, however the only options listed were seafood. And I wasn't wanting that. All that being said, I was very disappointed in the blackened chicken. It was overly salty and no spice that I could taste. I also wish that the tacos came with a higher quality cheese. Instead of one that looks like it came out of a mixed cheese packet. I also had the opportunity to try the sweet potato fry's and they were incredibly delicious! I appreciated the drizzle of honey! As far as price goes, I was super surprised at how reasonable it was! Our five dishes came out to be a bit over $60. Although I didn't get to try one, I. Must say that they seemed to provide some tasty mocktails! I would definitely come here again. We were visiting Altoona from out of town and searched Yelp for the highest rated restaurants. The Stone Cellar popped up so we figured we'd give it a try. We were very happy with our experience. We called to make reservations earlier in the afternoon, day of. They were able to accommodate us. The restaurant is inside of an apartment complex, so we got a bit misplaced trying to find it, but once we did everything was great. The restaurant's atmosphere was cute, cozy, and it was clean! The waitress, Chelsea, was very sweet and was able to answer our questions about the menu items and offer her suggestions, which were on point! We started with a caprese appetizer, which was just a perfect size to share, not to big to ruin our appetite for our meals. It was very tasty and included some pesto sauce which I enjoyed! I got the caprese chicken, which was so delicious! It was tasty and nicely seasoned and had a good amount of sauce and cheese. I enjoyed that it included prosciutto! The side of green beans and potatoes are worth a mention, too! So yummy! My boyfriend really enjoyed his meal as well, chicken piccata. It was a special occasion, so we treated ourselves to dessert. We had to get the banana dumplings because that isn't something we see often on menus. They were better than we had even hoped they would be! My boyfriend and I would both enthusiastically recommend this restaurant to anyone. Everything from the atmosphere, service, food, and the overall experience was great! Ambiance was nice, but I the food was subpar. We waited 20 minutes to be sat, although the restaurant did not look full, but we were okay with that. My husband ordered the Fettuccini Alfredo, very basic stable and said it was fine, nothing special. I ordered the lobster ravioli. Once again, very underwhelming and I've probably had just as good from Trader Joes. It came with lumps of crab cake which were cold and the meal itself was barely warm. Service was also very subpar. The food came out pretty fast but server wasn't the warmest. Overall, very mid restaurant but the architecture of the place is pleasant and cute for photos. Overall I liked this place. Couple of tips if you're making the trip: Entrance is in the 'Shoppe Entrance' - and bear to the left. This place had a Tuscan vibe to it - Italian artisan walls with ceiling paintings and frescoes everywhere. Seemed higher class but there wasn't a dress code. We didn't have a reservation and were immediately sat in the large room where bar is located. Ordered the potstickers to start as well as a mixed drink. I will say the mixed drink had a very light pour to it - so much that I had a second when normally I just have one. Potstickers we're good - would get those again and recommend ordering. For my meal I ordered the pappardelle pasta and added chicken. I thought it was good though the sauce was on the runny side and even though this is a thin sauce dish I would recommend cooking the pasta with the sauce for a few before plating. Had the cheesecake which was good but you can see was undercooked - as it was pudding like near crust. Overall - I liked this - would have liked to a have a few more menu options but what we chose I was happy with. read more

The Stone Cellar was a very unique dining experience. The ambiance was very pretty with a facade. The staff was super friendly and our waitress was prompt and courteous. I got the roasted quinoa vegetable bowl with scallops - which I thought was a unique protein to add to a salad. They were delicious, as well as the whole salad! My fiancé got the pistachio crusted salmon, which came with a rice pilaf and the vegetable of the day. The pistachio crust really stole the show - it had a cherry-like flavor to it, which made it both sweet & tart! The salmon's was cooked well and wasn't overdone. Finally got to check out this place. I've been wanting to visit for a while now. I recently went there with a few friends for lunch. First, the decor is beautiful but the lighting is way too low. Everyone at the table had to pull out their cell phone for a flashlight to read the menu. The lunch menu was reasonable. A reasonable number of selections and reasonable prices. I'd say they were on par with other places in town. The food was good. Everyone enjoyed what they had. The service was slightly below average. When we got there, the place was relatively empty and our waitress was attentive. Once the lunch crowd showed up we didn't see her again until the bill came. Several of our group remarked on that, and how they would have liked a drink refill but the staff was scarce. All in all it was average. I'd go back again for lunch. I took a look at the dinner menu and felt the prices were high based on my lunch experience. If I'm going to spend $40-$50 per person on dinner I'd like the experience to be better than average. read more

Tasty burgers and surprisingly ornate ambience, we randomly picked this spot as a midway lunch on a road trip. It has been a week so I can't remember specifics but we both enjoyed our burgers and I had a tasty strawberry lemonade. It was not busy at all at lunch on Saturday, and there is a coffee house in the shopping plaza to fuel up if we take this route north again. So definitely worth a stop. read more

Decided to stop on a whim after the colliseum was booked for massage. Danielle was kind, personable, and authentic. She checked in at various times throughout my visit but never was a bother. I enjoyed a Parmesan crusted chicken salad, and the word "enjoyed" is quite literal. At first I was looking for a dish of dressing alongside, but then realized the dressing was already on the salad. Believe it or not, the salad tasted in a way that rendered the chicken an extremely amazing bonus after the fact. This isn't common. We went out to dinner with family who told us we were going to the "senior homes". We were a little confused, and when we arrived... We were even more confused. We entered the building that was connected to the senior living building, and inside it was beautiful. Our party of 7 was seated right away and our server was incredible and patient (as we had kids with us). The menu has way too many mouth watering options... It was hard to narrow it down. I ordered the Mahi... And it DID NOT disappoint! It was absolutely wonderful. And the green beans... Oh my gosh... Those were devoured by everyone before anything else.
