My husband had the lollipop lamb chops with a rosemary roasted shallot Demi glaze, they offered a mint jelly.... Please don't go old school & ruin your lamb with mint jelly. The lollipop Lamb Chops were delicious, I know, because my husband is nice & shares his food with me! I ordered the filet Mignon with the roasted shallot & red wine sauce on the side, I was worried when it arrived to the table with the sauce on the filet because I usually don't like any sauce, I feel like a steak of really good quality shouldn't need or want a sauce, but was relieved when I tasted it, because it was delicious. Stone Cellar is truly a hidden gem in Altoona! The Rudden family has done an awesome job of creating a friendly and inviting atmosphere with excellent food (that is well priced!). I enjoyed the Chicken Caprese and Banana Dumplings (even my wife who is NOT a banana person loved it), and my wife got the Pork Chops and Lemon Cake. Don't get takeout - the crab/ artichoke dip was like cream of mushroom soup with fish and cheese mixed in, the mahi-mahi didn't come with a pineapple salsa, the veggies were soaked in 'butter flavoring.' My friend got a salad - it wasn't what we'd expected. Perhaps eating there is the only way to go. ‍ the other reviews were just glowing so we feel like maybe we caught them on a bad night &/or takeout really isn't their thing. read more

We held my grams 80th birthday party at the Stone Cellar this evening at 430. They didn't start taking orders until a little before 5 in which the food took over an hour to come out and all at random times which wouldn't have been a big deal, until we were told by management at the last minute that we had to leave at 7. We had a shaved down menu to order from thinking it would be easier to prepare meals and get them out in a timely manner until they brought out raw chicken Alfredo. When arrangements were made there was no time frame to be out and weren't expecting to be told we had to leave by 7, but they conveniently dropped it on us after the bills were paid. They also told us we had to pay a fee for a cake even though they told us we could bring one at no charge. When a family member left a review the person responding (the owner) thought they would keep it classy and take a cheap shot at some of the children in the review. I don't recommend the Stone Cellar nor will we be returning to this establishment. They are not kid friendly and the owner seems to carries the Long name with entitlement. This place knocked it out of the park on all levels. 4 of us came here for dinner on 10/17/21 which I made a reservation for. The dining area, tables, ambiance is really impressive. For food we had the pot stickers and the seafood artichoke dip for an appetizer which we all agreed could not have been any better. The were both perfectly portioned and tasted amazing. Two of us also had Caesar salads which were fresh, crisp and came out perfectly on time. Now to the entrees.. two of us had the seafood carbonara and we agreed it was the best seafood pasta dish we had ever eaten. One of us got crab cakes which we all sampled, these are not the kind of breadcrumb/ filler cakes u get most places, they were seasoned perfectly and stuffed with crabmeat- perfection. Last, I got the pappardelle pasta with steak added. The pasta looked like it was freshly made and the dish had lumps of fresh mozzarella, cooked tomatoes and spinach. This dish was excellent and my steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare. Dessert, you'll be wanting to try the deep fried banana dumplings. I didn't want dessert, but even if u don't get them. Also tried the cheesecake, best in town. Hands down. We will definitely be back! Our waitress's name was Chelsea, she could not have been more polite, attentive and honest about the food. This is a recently opened restaurant and my first time visiting. The ambiance is beautiful. The wait staff is very friendly and attentive. My meal was excellent. Everything tasted great and the presentation was very nice. The menu is fairly extensive with options for every palate. My only complaint was with the portion size as it could be a little bigger. We were in the back room and everything was set when we arrived. We had more guests for lunch than expected but they were very accommodating.
