Grab a couple items totaling around 65 bucks, cashier is very friendly and cool. Turns out the back massager thing I bought was broken ($49.99 listed on the box) and the gloves I grabbed she already had stashed at her gym ($14.99). Didn't really anticipate issues (I should have assumed their items are broken I guess) so the receipt was discarded. Didn't think anything of it since every store ever will give you store credit if you don't have the actual paper receipt. Nope... wife goes to return the gifts for store credit and see if there's anything in there she wants with the 65ish dollars I paid. They give her a gift card with $29.00 on it... called them and apparently if you return anything w/o a receipt the items automatically revert to the LOWEST sale price they've EVER had on that item so #1 the (broken) massager is marked up like crazy and #2 they literally have the items on their floor that show the price point they're currently marked at that particular location. Bought the stuff less than a week ago, main item was broken, zero attempt at customer service... 35 bucks isn't going to ruin anyone but the principal of thing is a killer for me especially considering brick and mortar retail is dying and Big 5 is already fully outclassed by Dicks and wayyy out-convenienced by Amazon. I already felt like I was doing them a favor by not utilizing those other options.... TLDR - worst return policy ever (and one i've literally never seen anywhere else), not helping your company survive

October 4, 2025. The…read moremorning started perfectly -- my mood, just like the weather in Sacramento, was phenomenal and full of positivity. Everything was going great... until I went to the Big 5 store on Elkhorn Blvd. At first, the saleswoman was polite, but after she called the manager to handle the return of a defective inflatable mattress, the situation changed completely. The manager was extremely rude and disrespectful -- he kept snorting, interrupting, speaking in an irritated tone, and showing open aggression. I couldn't argue or raise my voice -- my English isn't strong enough for that, which can easily be confirmed by the store's security cameras. So I calmly and respectfully called my daughter to help explain the situation over the phone. The manager spoke to her rudely and irritably, getting upset when she referred to the official Big 5 website, where the return policy is clearly stated differently from what he claimed. He even tried to intimidate me by threatening to call the police, as if the police were some kind of punishment force that would come and "throw me out of the store." I never raised my voice, never acted rude or aggressive -- I was simply trying to return a defective item, staying calm and respectful the entire time. In the end, the manager grabbed the box with the mattress, carried it outside, and ordered me to leave the store. I was completely shocked by this treatment. I never expected that a well-known retail chain like Big 5 could allow such behavior toward a customer. I sincerely hope that the company's management reviews the security footage, investigates this incident, and ensures that such behavior never happens again. Im really interested to see if the same behavior continues from that manager and if anything action will be taken towards stoping it.

Just a little back story for the record, I've been going to this particular store for many years…read moreand I've spent thousands there and I've always spoken highly of the products. I've brought many friends, family and coworkers there as well to give 5.11 business. But let me tell you! I don't know what happened to this store and how they pick their staff now, but they are absolute trash. Ever since the old store manager left this store has hired the worst people and the store always looks like crap. The old manager had this location looking good, fully stocked and her team was on point and very professional. They lost the true face of 5.11 on that one. I recently went to this 5.11 location on Friday March 28th with my family to see if things changed and I was reminded for the final time why I will NEVER return again. The guy in the front said something when we walked in and never said another peep or offered to assist with anything at all the whole time we were there. That's not even what bothered me. What made me absolutely livid was when the female worker blew my father off mid-sentence when he was asking her a question about their sale and said "It just depends" with a snarky attitude and TURNED HER BACK ON HIM AND WALKED TO THE BACK OF THE STORE. I almost lit her up. I'm done with 5.11 once and for all and I know deep down many others are as well. Shame on this company for allowing such people to work there and for allowing such an environment.

No one approached us or asked if we needed help. The salespeople simply ignored us; one was busy with his merchandise, and the other, with a red beard, sat in the customer chair and hummed. It was a terrible experience; I'll tell all my friends that the salespeople at Roseville Galleria don't meet basic standards of behavior, let alone professionalism.

Let me be real with you for a sec.... Walmart's "glow-up" is not it for me…read more I get that maybe they are trying to compete, revamp, rebrand... maybe be a little more Target adjacent, idk.. But these mannequins, not a fan. while the remodeled layout looks modern and clean, I actually hate it. I miss the familiarity. I miss walking in with pajama pants, unbothered and unjudged. Now it feels like I need to brush my hair and wear "real pants" just to grab toothpaste. The vibe? Off. The staff? Meh at best. No one's jumping to help you, but honestly, that seems to be the new standard across most retail these days. So I just pop in my headphones, stay in my own lane, grab what I came for, and dip out. Also don't even get me started on the produce section... it's a hard pass!! If fruits or veggies are on the list, I'm going somewhere else. That section is sad. Will I stop shopping here? No. It's convenient. But that doesn't mean I have to like all these changes

With the prices they had also, I will take my business to Target.
