This place is questionable. I would like to say good things about it but I find that difficult. I do not recommend.

I got called in for a commercial audition. At the same time, listen to their spiel. On joining the group, it sounded so far. Legitimate to me, everything is going well. Be careful when you sign a contract with the studio group, they're scammers. I went to an audition for the one in Long Beach and they lured me into a contract. They told me that I could sign up for SNAP but ended up charging me both SNAP and the $200 a month which doesn't even sound legal. I attended an improv class and it was great but I didn't go to any other classes because it's too far of a commute. What a waste of resources that I don't have! read more

I auditioned here for feedback on my representation preparedness about a year ago, after working in the industry for 6 years & attending The Los Angeles Theater Academy for 3 years (which was also thousands of dollars - a deal for being CA resident and many weekly classes I have audited are $100+ per session). I admit I was sceptical because of some reviews about "they just want your money", but here's the thing: they sort of do, it IS a business that pays office rent BUT they're honest first. After I auditioned, they told me I *didn't* need their help & *didn't* try to sell me their classes. They said I was welcome to take them if *I* felt I needed a refresher but reiterated they didn't think I needed it. Therefore, based on my personal experience, I think a lot of the negative reviewers might be sore and having a hard time accepting they are not as ready as they feel are (which is great sign of passion but detrimental to the longevity of your aspirations). That determination and confidence in yourself is great, but critiques and additional training can absolutely improve your chances of succeeding. It's all about your dedication to networking and honing your individual skillset. It will take time and it will take money if you're serious in investing in your career. As for The Studio at OC's business in particular, all the employees and coaches deserve to be paid for their time and expertise. The money comes from the partnered courses they offer, not all of which are recommended for every unique auditioner (again, I was told I could use newer headshots [which was true, my hair was a different length] but they didn't even push their own photographer). My time here was nothing but constructive and I paid nothing to audition. For the experienced and truly prepared actor (both skill and attitude), this was a free evaluation that helped remind me where my focus can improve. My daughter attends here and we love everyone! The whole staff/team are honest and straight forward. The people that help run it alongside the owners are fantastic-great people and personality! We drive all the from Diamond Bar so she can meet with some of the best coaches/talent out there! I can rest assure that she is in a safe and caring environment that will push her to where she needs to be! I can't wait for my son to turn 12 in December and have him audition for agency. read more

Scam Alert! Indeed they just want your money!!! The owner who's name was Jennifer was telling me how she was a background girl in a music video once, like really??? Is that the best you can do and you as owner. I thought you would have shot a commercial or what not. People that work there are great people and friendly but yea sad to say at the end of the day, they just want your money. THESE ARE NOT AUDITIONS! They SELL YOU ACTING CLASSES!!!! For 2,500 to be exact! Wasted my whole day and was very let down! They will mention big TV SHOWS like stranger things to hook you but don't fall for it. These people are SCAMMERS! I went to the location in Las Vegas, and the girls in the front were very nice, they gave my wife and me water and offered us fruit, and snacks but when I went to the back with the other older man he kept telling me I had to pay that day for acting classes, I said I don't have my card on me, and he told me who doesn't have a card on them? He also told me there was only one spot left and If I didn't pay when I was in there the spot is taken. I did my audition with the producer Robert and he was extremely inappropriate towards my wife, He kept asking her if she'd like to audition and she kept saying no every time. He also asked her well I was in the back with the order gentlemen if she'd like to go to the bar with him for a drink? I find this extremely inappropriate. THIS PLACE IS A SCAM!!! Don't come here. They will try charging you $2,500 for acting classes and then when the final show case is finally here with all the "amazing casting directors" and all the "jobs your gonna get booked for"..... IT'S NOT TRUE. There is NO casting directors, NO movies or shows you'll get booked for. Also they will push off the final show case for weeks. I had the worst experience at this agency! Are they even a real agency?? i have talked to all my friends and no one has got there headshots. I have been waiting 5 months. Everytime I call the girl she always says Robert is unavailable and she'll give him a message. She never calls me back. He never calls me back regarding my headshots. I called to cancel and they told me I can't come back for 2 years, I can't recieve my headshots, and my card is still getting charged every month. What is wrong with this place??? read more

Got my hopes up, put all of me into this studio, and paid thousands of dollars AND took a high school proficiency exam to test out of high school to pursue this, just to be told that the only way i could be successful was if i joined IPOP which was a convention that was an extra few thousand dollars. SCAM ALERT! This place is a scam and complete waste of time. They do not audition for specific roles, but rather hand you a generic script (everyone gets a different one) and tell you to read it for them. From the look of the studio it is very clear that they do not shoot anything on site. They claim to be a talent agency that will set you up for success. Of course, only after spending thousands of dollars on their stupid acting classes. While I was waiting for my audition I was listening to the students "acting" in front of the classroom as the walls very very thin. The "acting" was wayyy over the top and the staff was applauding them anyway. After completing my audition, they tried to get me to pay on the spot for their classes and got upset when I said I didn't have any money on me. The gentlemen began to criticize me and asked "who doesnt carry money on them? or a debit card?" I explained that I had never done an audition before and had no idea what to expect. I never signed up for this company. They keep trying to charge my card every month. They keep calling me everyday. At first I received a call about a stranger things casting in Las Vegas, but I never even signed up for any castings. So it was kind of odd that I got a call for one. But what I realised coming here is these people don't care if you have $1 to your name. I took 3 busses to get here and Robert told me he would get me a Uber home. He didn't I sat at the bus stop where he told me to sit and waited for over 2 hours. I kept calling him and he wouldn't pick up the phone. But the next day Robert called me at 9am and told me my card has been declined and I need to make a payment that day or I wouldn't have a spot. I told him I want to cancel, he told me I can't come in for 2 years I said that's completely fine. The next day they tried to charge my card for $395. I recommend never coming here. I received a call to schedule an audition, we did so. Then I read the reviews and luckily I did. The owner seems very immature, and on top of that I am very concerned that they named there place is called The Studio Group but the name on Yelp is The Studio of Michigan, the only reason I knew that it was the same place as The Studio Group was because it has the same address. Its very suspicious which makes me think they did that on purpose. Not to mention the review with the angry phone call. I have done so much customer service and if I were to ever to do anything like that I'd be fired on spot. Just because you've been around for 25 years does not mean you're a great business. My brother is a professional dancer who was with a company that has been around for 77 years and they have plenty of flaws but they don't turn a blind eye. They're running a promo now implying you're getting called for an audition for Stranger Things when it's really just their hook to get you in the door and sell you their high priced classes. There are plenty of legit acting schools for children in SoCal for much less money. Don't let your thrill of making your kid a "star" cloud your judgment! read more

Scam. This is essentially the process: You go in for an audition and they give you a small commercial advertisement script to read as a cold audition. Then a blonde woman (Jenn) comes and gets you from the waiting room and she proceeds to shower you with compliments to win you over. "Oh you're so beautiful. You're so funny. etc." She then goes on and on about all the "connections" the studio has to agents, studios, and successful actors. She talks about how the agencies they "work with" have signed major stars who work for Netflix shows and Disney shows. But here's the thing: this place had nothing to do with those actors' success. She just uses these actor's names as a way to build fake credibility. They just get these agencies to show up at the final showcase (we'll get to that later). Then you get passed along to another room to audition. For the audition you read your script to a middle-aged failed actor (David) and a cameraman (Marc) who doesn't say anything the entire time and just agrees with everything the other guy says. After you finish your reading, this guy goes on and on and on about all his education and accomplishments. He spends the majority of your audition talking about himself and why you should really value his opinion. Then they make the big decision of whether or not to pass your name and headshot directly along to an agency. One of the agencies that the other woman (Jenn) just spent the last 10 minutes making you believe is the greatest agency in the world. Now, obviously, they never immediately recommend for you to send you name and headshot directly to an agency because you're "not ready just yet". But hey, it's okay, because we offer classes to prepare you! These classes will be perfect for excelling your career beyond your wildest dreams! So the next step is for the failed actor and the cameraman to make the final crucial decision: do we let you take the amazing prestigious classes or not? Then they go into this kind of American Idol judging process and either say yes or no. If you're oh so lucky enough to get a yes from both of them, then you're in! Yay for you! Except, oh wait. You have to put down a deposit right there on the spot. The deposit ranges in price from $300-$500 depending on what payment plan you chose. Then you sign a contract saying that you're committing to pay several thousand dollars for these classes. Again, this price varies. If you pay in full it's slightly cheaper than if you pay over a few months, either way it's pricey because scammers can charge whatever they want. Thanks to that contract, if you cancel at any time, too bad, you still have to pay it all and don't get your deposit back. The paying on the spot and giving no time to make a decision is an immediate red-light for scams, which is what this is. So, moving on, you've paid your deposit and are paying for the classes. The classes are a joke and would only be informative for someone who has never seen a movie, tv show, animated film, or any form of entertainment requiring actors. Then you get to headshot day, which is the next joke. The headshots are equivalent to the modern Instagram selfie. Eventually, you get to the final class. The long-anticipated showcase. This is where those "connections" the woman at your audition told you about come to the studio to see all the amazing skills you've learned here. The showcase is, as you may have expected, the final joke. So there you go! You've spent thousands of dollars and gotten nothing in return! No experience, no valuable connections, no usable headshots, and no contracts to agencies. That's the full Studio at OC experience! In summary, this company and these people are scammers and thieves. We were totally unsure about sending our young daughter to this program and were nervous about the whole process. This is an amazing program. She worked hard, learned a TON, had fun and got SIGNED! She feels confident and prepared. The showcase at the end where she got to preform in front of real talent reps was so valuable. FYI this is a lot of work. As an ex-student of this so called "school", pretty much everything the 1 star reviews are saying is true to a T. They sell you this bs pitch about auditioning for this and that when in reality they just want you to sign up for their overpriced acting classes. You'll never get the part because they'll say you need more training so sign up for our classes. They make you sign a contract that basically states, if you leave the school before the classes are done, you still have to pay the monthly fee for each class even if you don't finish or even want to attend anymore. That right there is scam #1. The teachers are all no name actors/actresses or people in the industry talking about their 15min. of fame about movies or tv shows they starred in for one episode or 5min of screen time in a film. Like really? For $2500 for these classes and all you can get are these people? No name people that no one has ever heard of? The photo shoot lasts 10 min. tops and for $235 that's just ridiculous. This "school" gets your hopes up about wanting to become an actor/actress. Don't buy into their crap. None of the employees there have ever been in a commercial, tv, or film. Like they so claim and they do claim it. Trust me I was a student there and left. You have to request a new debit/credit card from your bank so they don't keep charging you after you leave because of that scam of a contract. They lie to your face to get your hard earned $ into their pockets. Just google acting classes and other talent agencies around the LA area and their reviews won't lie. Hell for some casting agencies all you have to do is make an appointment and audition for the set role they offer you. No fees involved or anything. My daughter just finished acting classes at OC Studio and performed in January 2018 at the showcase. This is the real deal! I was a little nervous at first because I am not familiar with the acting/modeling business at all, but after meeting the team (David, Jen and Maria) and seeing how much they know this field and then how much they care, I'm a fan!! Seriously, everyone of them is doing it for the kids. They are kind, thoughtful, trust worthy and they are willing and available to answer any questions that you have. Even, Benedict, the assistant, was patient with all the questions everyone asked over and over! David is amazing, he knows showbiz and shoots straight, Jen owns the studio is very kind, she always has a smile on her face and bought kids pizza one day! Maria runs the front desk, she was great when we needed to reschedule an appt. she was very hospitable and chill. I would send my daughter through all over again, but we don't have too, we are already experiencing great results!!! read more
