Came here for a Rye Tasting Event. 7 different Ryes and 7 different dishes for $40. An excellent value. It helped that the food was pretty good too. Overall I was impressed with the portion size and the planning of the menu. The execution fell a little short though in my opinion. In particular three things: The pancetta aracini didn't have any pancetta in it. And the cheese inside was not melted completely. This led to some clumps when eating it that were unpleasant. The second thing was the braised beef and mushroom gnocchi. The gnocchi were a little tougher than I would have preferred. The beef however was braised absolutely beautifully with a perfect texture. The third was the salmon crepe. It was served room temp to preserve the salmon in the dish. But IMO the cream cheese in the crepe didn't eat well at room temp. Just my opinion and most of the others at the tasting seemed to enjoy it. I'm not nuanced enough to say if the Rye's paired well with the dishes they were served with but nothing stood out to say they didn't pair well. I went in tonight with my grandparents, dad and baby daughter. My grandparents are big fans of the fish fry. I had the beer-battered cod fish fry with potato pancakes. It also came with 1/2 slice of marble rye and jalapeño coleslaw. The fish fry was pretty good, I liked the fish itself and the jalapeño coleslaw that came with it. The tartar sauce was pretty strong too. I wasn't a big fan of the potato pancakes, but I absolutely LOVED the roasted red potatoes that my grandma got (these were definitely the best thing I ate). Overall the food was probably 3.5 stars. So why the 3 star rating? The service was a bit sketchy. The server was very nice but had some technical errors. When we arrived she seated us at a 4 top and not a good-sized rectangle 4 top, it was the small square kind. This was way too crowded since we had 4 adults and a baby with a high chair. We were eventually moved to a bigger table but I wish that had happened in the beginning. Next, we placed our drink order. My grandparents only drink Diet Coke so they asked the server if they carry coke or Pepsi products, she didn't know and she made no attempt to go and ask someone (or look). The only reason we found out was because my dad found it somewhere on the menu eventually. She was pleasant enough just not super on top of things. Overall, would I go back? Possibly, I only come to Milwaukee a couple times a year so this wouldn't be at the top of my list but it's not a hard no either. read more

We were here once for fish fry and it was pretty good! We decided to try it during COVID for carry out. I really wanted to make this a regular in our rotation but it was just average. It wasn't bad but nothing to rave about. I had the chicken Caesar wrap. It has a decent amount of chicken but onions in it which was odd. My husband had the burger and said it was just a bar burger. Severely understaffed is the best way to describe my experience here. There were 2 people working - the chef and the bartender who also had to serve as everyone's waiter - by my count, over 20 people at its peak. Dont get me wrong, they hustled and were apologetic but after ordering our food - the power bowl salad and a sandwich with fries - we waited upwards of 45 minutes to finally get it. Went to "An Evening With Frank Sinatra. Food was excellent, had the Snitchel. Entertainment: the band was outstanding. Tommy Dorsey style. The vocalist sounded more like Neil sedaka. Not bad, just not the rich voice of Sinatra and changed the lyrics to suit his tenor voice and style. We were 3/4 in the back and the speakers were mostly inaudible. The whole table agreed there was too much noise cancelling much of the vocalist. But again, the band was wonderful! read more

Decided to try the Friday fish fry. Only good thing was they weren't too busy to get us in immediately. Since it was the last Friday of Lent, that seemed unusual. The fish was salty, but at least there wasn't much of it. The potato pancakes were the size of golf balls and had an odd Chinese 5 spice flavor. The cole slaw was weirdly dry, as though no sauce was used. The wild mushroom and swiss burger tasted like the meat was bordering on becoming spoiled. Very high prices for the bourbons. We took a chance and tried a new place for a fish fry and were very pleasantly surprised. We were greeted at the door by who I can only assume was the owner with a genuine smile and it made you feel very welcome. We sat at the bar and ordered 2 beers that we hadn't had before and loved them! A peach Hefeweizen and a Kentucky bourbon ale. Delish! If you are into bourbons they have a huge selection. Also the craft beer selection was great. We ordered the fish frys. One breaded and one beer battered. We both actually preferred the beer battered which is different for us. Both were great. The only critique I can offer was the coleslaw was boring. No flavor at all. Service was great although they were slow due to Muskegos first football game. We will be back! read more

The Suburban Bourbon in a lot of ways is exactly what the name connotes. They definitely have a fairly large selection of bourbons as well as other whiskies and even gins. But the atmosphere inside is a lot like all those mcmansions built in the burbs, too new, too sterile and lacking any if its own personality. The service was decent, but very transactional. For a Friday night it was pretty quiet, and the staff explained that it was because the wedding reception in their banquet hall had filled the parking lot, causing folks to drive by thinking they were busy. I had the mac and cheese entree and it was good, nice and creamy and with good flavor. My partner had the BBQ burger. It was huge, cooked as requested to medium rare and pretty tasty. If I lived in Muskego I'd probably be a regular, so if you are in the area give it a try. read more

YUMMIE! This was our first visit to The Suburban Bourbon. I can't wait to return and try some other dishes. The Cosmo's were made to perfection. We ordered the beer battered Fish Fry with fries. The fish wasn't over battered. I enjoy my fish with malt vinegar and luckily they had it. So delicious! Additionally, it was a delightful surprise that we didn't have an hour wait for a table on a Friday night for a Fish Fry. We were seated immediately. Our server, Richard was most accommodating. My husband and I held our Wedding Anniversary Celebration here. I am so happy we did. Suburban Bourbon allowed us to have The Butcher Block in Oak Creek roast a pig on site, carved on site, along with roasted chickens, and polish sausage stuffed in the pig. The Suburban Bourbon's food was more than delicious. We had his signature mac and cheese, parmesan roasted baby red potatoes, baked beans, and the most perfectly cooked whole green beans. The atmosphere was wonderful, table linens on the tables, actual silverware ( not plastic) and a sound system that allowed us to use our liked list on Spotify. Lastly the bartender was fast with serving all of our guests and friendly as well, hard to find these days. I wish I could leave a ten star review instead of 5. After learning about this place from a friend of my husband's, we decided to stop in and check it out. From the outside, the place looks very unassuming. We almost drove right past it. The inside of the place, however, is very nice. It is clean and has an open concept layout, which I am a huge fan of. The bartender/server was a very nice gentleman. He was very helpful in explaining the menu to us and answering our questions. They have an extensive drink menu, including a large selection of, you guessed it, bourbon! They also have several beers on tap and in bottles. The food is excellent. It is a bit on the pricey side, but totally worth it. They have something for everybody here: soup & salad, burgers, chicken wings, a variety of entrees and more. For my meal, I had the baked five cheese mac. Topped with bread crumbs and oven baked, it is AMAZING! For an extra price, you can add chicken, pork, shrimp, soy chorizo, or veggies. I opted to have the shrimp added. It was Heaven in a bowl. My husband had the classic fried chicken sandwich. It is buttermilk chicken tenders, served on a brioche bun with lettuce, tomato, red onion and honey mustard mayonnaise. It was served with a side of french fries, which were very tasty (I know this, because I snuck a few of the fries from his plate!). He loved his meal as well. They also have daily specials, including a Friday fish fry. I highly recommend giving this place a try. We will be back, for sure. read more

It ended up being a wonderful night with excellent food and an open bar for an extremely reasonable price when compared to the other venues in the Milwaukee area. My sister and I tried the Friday fish fry and cannot stop talking about it. She tried Alaskan cod with roasted red potatoes. I had oven baked cod with potato pancakes. Both came with homemade tartar sauce, homemade cole slaw, and rye bread. Both choices were outstanding and required doggy bags! We've had plenty of fish fries in our lives, but these fresh, homemade choices for $13.00 were unusual. Our waitress, Cassandra, was very attentive and informative. My only reservation in giving this Muskego gem five stars is that next time we will need a reservation. Cannot wait to try seasonal soups from scratch, red pepper hummus plate, grilled tuna sandwich with apples and red onions, shrimp and avocado BLT, or a lamb burger for lunch. Then there is bacon wrapped meatloaf with bourbon sauce or pecan crusted salmon or vodka tortellini for dinner. If I tell you about their specials or the free jazz music on the third Tuesday's of the month, next time there won't be room for me to park! read more

Ahh, The Suburban Bourbon...This place is quickly becoming our "date night" go-to destination! As a matter of fact, I'm scheming to shake up our busy schedule right now so me and the man can catch a couple of Kentucky Ciders this evening. Thank goodness for this place! The Suburban Bourbon is a wonderful alternative in Muskego. We love the staff, the jazz, the decor, and with Pete's help, are quickly becoming good friends with a variety of bourbons! When you visit, do yourself a favor and order a Reuben and the mac and cheese--don't forget to add some bacon! We've tried darn near everything on the menu and have always been satisfied with the quality and flavor of the food. The specialty drinks are crafty and delicious, the beers are abundant, and the gluten free varieties are top notch! Although we missed the first installment, the Cultural Food Series the restaurant offers is unique and special for Muskego and the surrounding communities! We are looking forward to participating in future ethnic tastings and hope this series blossoms for Pete. What a fantastic idea! We went to s special "Supper Club Night" in their banquet hall last Saturday evening. It was a great night complete with a nice relish tray, a Cesar salad, baked French onion soup and an entree included. We both had prime rib as our entree and it was pretty amazing - maybe the best I've ever had. It came with organic mixed carrots and a piping hot baked potato. After dinner, an 18 piece big band performed a Rat Pack era theme. It all made for a very enjoyable evening and I hope this place continues these kind of special events. Unfortunately, the only blemish on the night was a table of eight women close to us who were more interested in complaining about anything that they could think of. They used each other as mouthpieces so other tables could hear them. The management did the best job possible to pacify them, but it was irritating - especially while the band was playing. I just hope we never sit next to a disrespectful group like that again. Their behavior was very unbecoming and bothersome to us and other patrons that evening. read more

We've been there a few times now for the tribute bands on Saturday night. The music has been great but it's about the most difficult place on earth to get a drink. This last time they only had one of the bars in the room open and the bartenders were slow to serve people, it was backed up three deep in line. They kept saying that there were servers at the tables but in the 3 1/2 hours we were there she only came by once to deliver food and never asked anyone at our table if they wanted another drink. Odd for Wisconsin that they make it so inconvenient to get a beer. read more

The prices were a bit high, but the food was great. The food was piping hot, and served fairly quickly. They had a very extensive list of bourbon. The drinks were made using a shot measure. So, no heavy pours or short pours here. They have a good selection of beers on tap. Had one German import beer that was about 2 months past it's best by date. Hubby had a burger which was not medium rare as ordered, he would prefer restaurants be up front if they only do medium or well done. Good restaurant and bar. My Reuben was fantastic! The homemade potato chips were also great, as were the fried green beans we had for an appetizer. My husband had the ribs and garlic mashed potatoes. He was not happy with either of those choices. The real selling point of this place is the bourbon stout that they have on tap that you can't get anywhere else nearby. It was great! Overall it was good as long as you order the right things. Definitely get recommendations from your server. I don't remember our servers name but she was fantastic. Everything she recommended was great. (She didn't recommend the ribs.) It's a bit of a drive, so we probably won't be back. We decided to try this place after a fried suggested it. Very pleased with everything we had. I couldn't make up my mind between 2 dishes and decided to go with the meatloaf. Holy Cow! That was some meatloaf. My husband and son gladly helped me finish it. The tri-color carrots were perfectly cooked. The staff was friendly and the place was very nice inside. The place was empty when we walked in on a Wednesday at six which made me nervous but that didn't last long. The bourbon selection was amazing, I enjoy bourbon too :) The michters boulevardier was a fantastic beverage choice. Our app was very good, my pesto chicken wrap so fresh and delicious but the burger was the best we've had in a long time. The temperature was perfect and it was seasoned which is apparently a rarity around here. The meat melted in your mouth. Service was great and the price was right. Definitely recommend! read more

Great service and great drinks and pretty good food !! I had the swordfish and it was absolutely delicious. It was served with a Greek salad on the side and that was also very tasty my boyfriend ordered a pork dinner off of the comfort menu and he was not very impressed with that he said that it tasted like shoe leather and he really liked my swordfish a lot more. But his garlic mashed potatoes were very good as well as his baked beans. For my drink I ordered a old-fashioned sweet and it was very delicious but I don't think it was too strong. I definitely recommend this place I like the atmosphere and the music was nice I will be back! read more

Great food and and service. We ordered bacon wrapped meatloaf, turkey burger, A lone star burger, and a Greek salad with chicken. Everything was fresh and delicious and my son ordered a second side salad because the balsamic dressing was out of this world! All five of us said we would go back in a heartbeat.
