Woah. This is a catering review. If this place is your style then it is the top of the line. It's got a very specific look but it nails it. This is the only venue of its type on LI. The food was awesome and creative. I went here for a friend's wedding and was amazed at how... Well inventive it was. They were able to do some theater aspects and really made the wedding unique. If I could give less than one star I would. We came with friends for my brides birthday. Food took over an hour and was room temperature. Spoke with a person claiming to be a manager she was unprofessional. They offered to buy a round which I turned down based on attitude of the "manager". The biggest hidden gem on Long Island in terms of a wedding venue. We just got married there on Friday and almost every person there said it was the most amazing wedding they've ever been to. Word of advice-don't give negative reviews to this place if you're expecting a typical LI Catering Hall wedding. This is not the place for you if that's what you want. I'm very well versed in the event industry and had lots of contacts that made this wedding so good. If you're getting married here, spend the extra money for a wedding planner and I guarantee you'll be more than happy with the results. Love this Vintage venue. Keep in mind it is a theater that offers limited food menu not a restaurant offering a show. We've seen numerous shows her - Never saw a bad one. Drinks were typical and although we did not order from dinner menu, we found their "bar type menu" on par with other bar type meals. We typically eat elsewhere before the show but We will definitely continue to enjoy going to this local venue! We love it! read more

Get ready to be impressed. This GORGEOUS theatre has been restored to have an amazing nostalgia combined with a high tech experience. Originally built in 1933 and closed in the 80's the owners revitalized this magical venue to create a truly exceptional experience. They host weddings, events, theatre and corporate events which was brought me here: the staff were top notch professionals and maintained the perfect balance of experience while allowing us to be creative and have a unique event. The AV/tech team were outstanding. Our presentation went almost perfectly and it was clear that everyone working there was on point. Nicole, the person who coordinated everything was incredibly accommodating and an obvious perfectionist because she wanted to ensure we had a flawless event-she made that her mission and she succeeded. She is a gem! THE FOOD IS AMAZING. Had a three course meal and the salad was delicate, icy cold and fresh and the steak was delectable...the cheese cake was rocking. Beautiful old restored theater. Staff and servers are excellent. Food is mediocre, I always eat elsewhere. Easy access and plenty of parking in back in the municipal lot. My only real complaint is the horrible plastic lawn chairs used to seat people. Part of the restoration should have included decent chairs, who wants to sit on a hard plastic chair for 2+ hours? read more

What a lovely place. It is an OLD art -deco style theatre renovated and not ruined. balcony and all. You'll love it. We came here twice in one week - once for a Frankie Valli cover band - eh, you know it's NOT Frankie Valli, but its a night out. The food was good, chicken wings, burgers, fish - all good. The 'famous' mac and cheese was pasty, but no complaints about anything else. They had the front floor by the stage cleared and we danced. It was fun. We returned 2 nights later to see Bobby Collins the comedian, at what they call "dinner club" which is like a prix fixe menu - they put out the white table cloths and now we're fancy! It worked. The menu was elegant, I had mushroom and truffle ravioli and my husband had a roasted chicken breast that was the juiciest ever. The combined price of show & dinner was $80 each. Well worth it. Of course bar is separate. I really enjoyed it and will return. Complaints? There is no bathroom on the main floor, it's all the way upstairs and across the balcony - a lot of walking. An impaired person may have difficulty. Management seems to be on top of things, or it appears that way because they were pacing back and forth in the foyer... They're new - they're nervous but I think they'll do well. read more

Sept 28 attended the Mystery Theater show. I have no idea what that was about. Some of the characters were believable, but that was the worst show I'd ever endured.It was so loud and vulgar. Paid $80, for what... for the audience to entertain. We also had dinner...well, sent it back, ordered the risotto, could tell as soon as they set it down the rice was raw, couldn't eat it, replaced with the salmon, two tiny like 1 inch square pieces of salmon so over cooked. Just awful. No compensation it wasn't just me 3 of us at the table we're served raw risotto. Don't know how a place could serve such a thing. We left at intermission. I'll attend concerts there but never risk eating there again. read more

Music was good. Acoustics awful. Service even worse!!!. Ordered drinks. An hour later went to the bar and got my own. Told them our table number and told them we ordered an hour ago and never got drinks so cancel any orders for our table. Two hours later got a bill for those drinks we never got. When we said that to our server we got an eye roll. The audacity of that deserves negative stars. Lucky the show was a good one. read more

My first time at this venue on 9/26/2021 was appalling. The venue is nice and the wait staff and ushers were great, but the bar was horrendous. I was told they were short staffed but still...they should have been prepared. There was another bar upstairs that was closed, so the 2 bartenders downstairs were overwhelmed and obviously frustrated but they should still be professional. I was ignored (several times) and missed half the first set. They never even made eye contact with me? By the time I got one's attention, they were out of the two beers I asked for. So I took whatever. When I went back later in the second set, the computer went down and they closed the bar. The bartenders were not professional, they were under staffed and under supplied and management was nowhere. You guys have a nice venue but you need to make it work better. Those computers are slowing you down and you need to stock better. Get the bar rescue guy from tv to help you out. If I ever go back, I might just bring my own. read more

Great place to watch shows. The only bad thing ( if you want to call it a bad thing) it's your sitting on a restaurant chair the whole evening.Other then that the food and drinks where great and you can do a little bar hopping when you get out of the show now that Downtown Riverhead bars are starting to open up. read more

The venue is terrific: seating, stage and dance floor are all terrific. The thing that holds this place back is the mediocre food and terrible service. We live locally and really try to support this place but it takes hours for your food to arrive and when it does, is bland and overcooked. Right next door is a Culinary School. Theatre is beautiful, venue is small so every seat is great, there is a bar in the main floor, they have tables for dinner before or during the show and it is on Main Street in Riverhead, which has some great restaurants. We attended a Foghat concert. First time in the theater since the renovation. Where others have failed at this,the current owners did an excellent job.Restrooms super clean,interior charm was kept as it was in the 1930. Hats off to you. We ordered dinner and told them hold on entree,we will be backstage for a bit. Salad came ok. Was good but all 4 of us comment the lettuce is not all cut and embassing to stuff the huge.leaf portion in our mouth It was waiting for us when we got back.Which was ok Food service seemed to go ok.Concert started and was great. We were told no eating during the show. So we finished up and waited for dessert. Our desert order was taken . A while later another 4 dinners came out? What the? After the show the check came and we said we have not received our desert. We were told they would put it in a to go box as the kitchen was closing. When we opened the box we though it was a joke. A good size box with a saltine size key lime pie in it. The chocolate cake I did carry around as we had no utensils given to us to eat it there. I should of left it there. Was like eating a pile of sugar. The entree of pork chop was ok.Our table ordered 3 and the 4th person a lobster roll. The coffee was no charge ,but I rather it had been the 11 dollar pretzel. They claim the kitchen has an award winning chef.All 4 of us did not see it in the food and service was lacking. The building I would give 5 stars. Food and service maybe a 3. The mixed drinks my wife had were very good.I had the Foghat wine which is always 5 start top shelf. We will go back, but maybe skip the food. The drinks were high price but that was expected. And what happen to the you have to eat before the show starts? Dinner as I said did come out during the show a second time. It has been a few weeks since we visited the Suffolk Theater to celebrate my lifelong best friend's birthday, but the feelings of gratitude and warmth linger on. As we made plans to help create a very special celebration , Michelle , Lynn and Clutch all converged and open doors and their hearts so the evening could be even more special. You see, four weeks prior, my best friend's daughter had been admitted to the ICU for reasons no doctor could give. She was, and still is, literally clinging to life. So how could we possibly celebrate? Easy! Just ask this wonderful staff to help and, without hesitation, tickets were made available, a table was prepared and a cake was presented! Mind you , it was a sold out show for That 70's Band and the staff was extremely busy. But not Too busy that they didn't have time to make those few hours a time of much-needed rest and relaxation for my best friend. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Suffolk Theater, for helping us celebrate life. You are truly a theater run by the people and for the people . God bless you all! Last night my husband, two friends and I attended the Lovin' Spoonful concert at the Suffolk Theater. We had a fabulous time and cannot wait to return for another event. We drove from East Hampton, leaving at 6:30 for the 8:00 show and were there easily before 7:30 giving us time to spare - and this on the 4th of July weekend kick-off! Our seats (which I purchased online) were at a table, front row center mezzanine. The seats couldn't have been better. We ordered dinner before the show. The food was excellent as was the service. Our only complaint was the chocolates that were advertised in the program weren't for sale! It wasn't fair to taunt us with them. The theater is exquisite. The restoration was obviously a work of love. I appreciated the movie posters in the vestibule - the first and the last. I remember going to the theater in the early 70s to see the art film Putney Swope. The group was great. They played for almost an hour and a half - a long set for young musicians and most of these guys are only young in their minds. I loved the Spoonful as a teenager and was proud that they were a Long Island group. My three companions were classmates of Steve Boone from East Hampton High School. It LOOKS great and the website photos offer a lot of promise but they don't deliver! Incompetent and sloppy staff and management. Mediocre, overpriced food. I went on a Saturday night for the Jay and the Americans concert. Service was slow and inconsistent. Some people didn't even get served in the HOUR before the show! The only "save" was that the acoustics were great. Stick with Westhampton. Or go out to eat someplace else first. read more

Beautiful restoration of an old-time movie theater. They have a large variety of shows. Pretty heavy on tribute bands, but after all this is Riverhead, and some well known, high-quality performers appear. You can go early and get dinner before most shows, and the food seems substantially improved since Matt Kar (Jamesport Manor Inn and the former Jamesport Country Kitchen) took over. Definitely a place to got when the show appeals to you. read more

My friends and I went to the Suffolk Theater to A Murder Mystery Dinner. The show was suppose to start at 7:30 PM, but didn't go on until 8:00 PM. There were only 5 actors in the show and the rest of the cast was brought up from the audience. Nobody knew what was happening throughout the show. The meal was served during the breaks in the show, first acting, break, acting, break, acting, break, acting. The problem with this is that the entree was served at 10:00 PM. The food arrived cold and tasteless. Our meals went back uneaten. The show and the actors were not even on the level of elementary school. I complained that night of the show to the assistant manager and she said something would be done to make things right. After speaking with Daniel Binderman at the theater and him promising to correct the situation he basically did nothing. I would not recommend going to this theater, they don't get quality events and they don't honor their word. read more

I wish I could give separate ratings for this establishment. I been to several shows here. The shows have been great! The food has consistently been a disappointment, but this last experience was the worse by far. Dubbed a " Memphis Barbeque" buffet for a treat during the Elvis show, I decided to give it a try. Told that Maple Tree Deli was doing the food I was optimistic. I was wrong. The set-up was poorly done and the food was not good. The brisket (best dish)was gone in no time, the food was very salty and smokey, no butter for the bread, I could go on. If I could give them separate scores I would give the show a five, and the venue a one. Food wise it deserves a zero, but the place is so spectacular that it deserves something. From now on we will go to one of the restaurants on Main Street and then go to the show. Simply put, show great...food bad. I almost forgot to mention, they have ended table service and you must go up to the bar yourself during the show. Dinner theater? Not really. read more

Great venue for music, as good as it gets. However, the service as it relates to food leaves much to be desired. I sat at a bar stool seat and ordered food at the bar before the opening act. 10 minutes into the main act I still had not received my food. And this was the third time I had a problem getting food in this theater. Thank goodness the two previous times the music was great. I told them to cancel my food order. The bartenders apologized and comped my drink, which was a standup move. And having sampled the food previously I knew I wasn't missing all that much in the way of quality. read more
