This place always makes me laugh. Picture it, 1987. I just separated from the military. My buddy was a bouncer here when it was a club. He whispers to me: Bianca Jagger is upstairs. I RUN upstairs and start making goo goo eyes at Bianca Jagger. She is with a dude who looks like a dork. We make eye contact, she gives me the up down and then turns away. I thought I had the moves like Jagger!!! haha 30+ years later, the Bay Street Theater is open for theater performances and musical venues. I was reading the playbook given to me when we walked in, there are a few fun performances happening in 2019. The seats we had gave us a commanding view of the stage. We saw Denny Laine from Wings, he gave a great and very intimate performance. He asked for audience song requests and I stumped him. He said he forgot the song!? Dude.. Paul McCartney lives in Montauk. I was telling my wife how cool would it be for Paul to show up and they both sang Jet??? Ah, such is life. It did not happen. Paul... Uncool man! Parking for the event, we parked at the pier for free. During the summer, I'm sure its a madhouse so give yourself extra time. From the comfy seats to the intimate stage, Bay Street Theater gave us a unforgettable, 5 Yelp star performance.

More than pleasantly surprised. Came here on a whim with friends to see another friend, Bopa King Carre, play with the Nancy Atlas Project. Invited by Joe Haines (Smokin' Joe), who let me on the ins of the good shows in the area. At first I had my reservations. There was a bit of a cheese factor, when a musician dressed as a banana walked out onto the stage, which ended up being cute and fun to enjoy. As the set progressed, I was astounded at the set of pipes on the singer, Nancy. Bopa (Equanimous Minds), of course, was great at playing bongos - especially his facial expressions. Then Winston McAnuff (Electric Dread), came out and gave a special little performance. Apparently the Nancy Atlas Project is based on a bunch of friends who go on tour and have come together for a nice little gig every Friday. Red wines (I ordered a cab) were $7, which is affordable, if not the best quality. But it went down smoothly and good to taste. Either way, the show was amazing. It definitely was uplifting and there was a lot dancing in the back and front rows. Will come back.

    Proud moment!

If you want you could even take classes here if you want to be a part of the fun. Sundays are family shows (rated G). Although Saturday shows err on the side of adult situations, they are not vulgar, a swear here and there. I've been here twice and both times the staff was amazing, warm and welcoming. There is an elevator, you just need to ask for it. They have drinks and snacks, just check on line for what you might find there. Get over there!! You're missing out if you haven't been already!! They have a ticket counter with all sorts of Sea Tea swag, a snack bar with soda, beer, seltzer and a variety of snacks. The seating is comfortable with drink holders built in (this makes it even easier to clap and cheer for the very funny comedy)! And, of course, the Improv teams always do an amazing job performing live improv comedy - totally original and unscripted silliness. My favorite place to spend a night out in Hartford.

We got a box of Crab Rangoons from Ching Tao down the street, and sat in the first row nibbling away. The show is a fast paced 80 minute romp with no intermission. The troupe takes suggestions from the audience for the skits, and hilarity ensues. If you are celebrating a special occasion, they may even call you up from the audience for a personalized skit of your own! The Bit Players excel particularly in their song-prov sketches, I have been coming to these shows for years and the ability to make up verses on the fly never fails to impress. JT and Danny stole the show the night we went with their Shakespearean sketch about Chuck E Cheese.. still laughing over some of the great lines! I would recommend this night out to folks ages 14+, as the humor skews to a PG-13-ish range. That being said, if you're looking for a fun and different activity, the Bit Players is worth a visit!

There was a stipulation from the performance tickets that you needed to purchase a certain $$ of food/beverages. I would recommend sticking to drinks to fulfill this minimum. The food tastes like it was reheated and was just something to chew on. Understand that I may be asking a lot from a bar in a big casino but for some reason thought at least a burger would be okay. Was a little difficult to find the place with how big the Mohegan Sun casino is. There wasn't much signage pointing the direction of the place out. Had to wonder and ask someone for directions which was fine. Would go back to see a performer but definitely would ensure I ate dinner beforehand. Not somewhere I would go if there wasn't a show I really wanted to see though. The staff were very nice; nothing bad against them!

There were definitely some service snafus other reviewers have mentioned that I can echo. They were confused on which table to bring us to and I think it led to the wrong food being delivered to our table all night. By the fourth time it was a bit annoying. The food was OK and came within 15 minutes. I don't go to a comedy club expecting a gourmet kitchen so I didn't really have high hopes to begin with. We split the nachos and they were fine but all the beans were on one side of the plate and pretty much impossible to get on a chip because they kept breaking. I got a general tso chicken sandwich and my friend got a burger. I think the sandwich was fine. It was definitely a large piece of chicken and actually juicy, but the bread was super dry and overwhelming. My friend's burger was inedible and she actually ended up tossing it unfortunately. The brownie was huge but there was way too much ice cream on top and it led to the brownie getting hold and hard. The entire point of ice cream on a brownie is for the brownie to be warm... come on now. We didn't really care for it. I sipped on Shirley Temples all night and definitely recommend getting the souvenir cup as well. It's only $8 so I think it depends on how much you plan to be drinking your non-alcoholic beverage. The space is larger than I expected, but the stage is pretty small. Taking an additional star off for how the owner ran up on a girl wearing Meta glasses, got in her face, and demanded she take them off. I can't imagine a grown themselves forcing themselves into my space like that, and it made everyone in the crowd feel kinda weird. I definitely get the no recording policy but she was actively turning them off so there was no need for that.

This review is about the business and not the act…read more I had been invited by one of my friends to see a well known comedian who had a scheduled act at the Funny Bone. Doors typically open 60-minutes before the show for drinks and bites which was great option. There was an incredibly long line well before the doors opened for this sold out show. Doors opened promptly and the hosts were nice seating parties efficiently. Obtaining service definitely took some time and it was apparent that they were short staffed. Not to mention, they chose a very busy night to train new hires. We ordered our round of drinks, and 3 sets of wings in Buffalo, General Tso and Barbecue with Tater Tots The show didn't kick off until 6-10 minutes after with "videos" of advertising for the upcoming shows. It would've been better if this was on a loop during that whole hour. The volume was incredibly loud and absolutely deafening. Finally our drinks arrived but I didn't get the merchandise cup for refills. Luckily we didn't get charged for it because the servers never came back to check on us to order more items or any particular refills. A member of our party also didn't receive the water they've asked for even after the show had already kicked off. The food took a long time to arrive and only told us that the kitchen was backed up. Advance ordering should be implemented or use kiosks at tables for a more efficient service. What's more concerning is that, the emergency alarm triggered and there was a 5-10 minute delay to evacuation. The establishment was not prepared and seemed no procedures were in place. Something could've happened, or worse. After evacuation, there was no direction on where to have guests congregate. People were literally outside and too close to the building We missed a good moment of our paid admission and any food we couldn't consume before the alarm went to waste. As soon as we could return, no other services were provided. Didn't even get the chance to order dessert. We were haded our checks and they made their way around to charge folks. Upon our turn, they can only take one card or cash. Quite restricting but understandable. Pay close attention that an 18% gratuity has been included to all checks and I wouldn't agree to add anything more. I must add that I used to frequent Funny Bone where I have had great laughs, service, food and experiences that I am left utterly disappointed.

The overall ambiance is wanting some updating. There is a full service bar when you walk in which also serves as the staging area for the next seating. Once seated the entertainment area reminded me of a German Beer Hall, long tables run vertically from the stage. Chairs closely lined up so you will get to know your neighbors before the show is over. There are some tables lined horizontally to the stage which would pose some viewing challenges if your chair is facing away from the stage. So be prepared to adjust your chair for better viewing. Getting there earlier allowed us to get our drinks ( there's a two drink minimum) before the show started. Once the show starts it did take some time to reorder. I think they could have used a few more servers as the show was sold out this evening. We did not order food so I cannot comment but there were a number of various food items to choose from. The comedians material are all different so there's a style for everyone. It does get noisy especially if seated under or near the wall mounted speakers so be aware of their location when being seated. I was impressed with the "manager" Lauren who stopped by our table to welcome us and we had an interesting conversation. I was quite surprised that she also performed herself as the opening act and was very humorous herself. Overall a great place to see upcoming comedians and have a good time. One note you may get that occasional heckler who thinks he or she are funny too. The comedians did a nice job of handling but I think the establishment should take a stronger action when this occurs as I saw some attendees getting upset. But I suspect that occurs in many comedy club. Entertaining evening and I'll definitely return for another show when back in the area.

They have a two item minimum, not two drink minimum per person. The comics were very good on 11/23/24. My only complaint is that the tables are set up vertically when I feel they should be horizontal. My neck definitely got a cramp. Now on to food and drinks. I do not have any pictures as I didn't want to take my phone out of respect for the comedians on stage. The menu has lots of different things. I would say there was something for everyone. I ended up having a Caesar salad and I added grilled chicken. It was about $4 extra for the chicken. I thought I would get nice strips of grilled chicken. Instead, I got chopped pieces. Not worth $4 at all. For my beverage I had a HighNoon seltzer. They advertised they had White Claws in various flavors, but only had one. A bit misleading. My boyfriend had baked ziti and had a white wine. He said the baked ziti was nice and cheesy. His wine had a nice pour. My mom had spinach dip and a cocktail. She enjoyed both. My stepdad ordered New England clam chowder. It was not good at all. The consistency was off; it was very thin/watery and not thick at all. From what I was able to see, I didn't see much of any clams or potato. He had a soda for his beverage. Overall, it was a nice night out. We agreed we would return in the near future.

It was way overcrowded with little to no walking space to go to the rest room. I have no issue with the requirement of ordering two overpriced items per person from the menu. But I do have issues with the following: my hot tea was given to me and the waiter said he would be right back with my spoon - 20 minutes later when my tea was cold, I had to flag him down for my spoon. My husband's soup took 55 minutes to be served and the dessert (a simple slice of pie) took 70 minutes to be served. The soup and the dessert are pre-made, so there is no excuse to wait that long for these items to be brought out to us. The service needs to improve greatly. Regarding the show, I come from an era when good comedians were able to tell jokes and get good laughs without having to use foul language or a curse word every 4th or 5th word in a sentence. Both comedians used middle school sex humor with frequent cursing to tell jokes as opposed to actually telling good jokes with funny punchlines. One comedian made jokes about Italians tipping better than Jews and then another joke involving Jews that he asked non-Jews to take a minute to explain to the Jews in the audiance when too few laughed. With anti-Semitism at an all time high these days, these stereotypical types of jokes are not appreciated. Picking on ethnic groups that you do not belong to went out when Don Rickles passed away. The choice of entertainers needs to improve greatly.
