A really great experience, especially in beautiful Coronado, but I can only speak for the paddle boarding. But I have to say what makes this place so great is the kindness and service of their workers. My boyfriend got stung by a stingray pretty bad and right away, Connor (sp?) helped us make sure that it didn't get worse and gave us a lot of support. He's got proper treatment and it was in large part thanks to their staff. Unfortunately I cannot give all 5 stars because one of the workers was coming off a little rude. I want to say please don't judge the personal decisions of others in how they want to take care of themselves when they get hurt, it's really none of your business. I hope this person can learn from that experience because it's hurtful to judge your customers on things that require empathy. Attempted to rent a bike with a pet carrier. Came in a day early to inquire and was told the pet carrier attachment was broken, but was going to be fixed by the next morning and to call ahead and come on in. I called the next day, and was told it had no problems. Came into the store -- pet carrier was still broken and the front desk staff didn't seem to care too much. My friend and I booked for a tour at the Coronado location through GroupOn, which told us that this location provided tours. When we got there, we immediately had a terrible impression because the staff was incredibly rude. Their tone of voice and unclear directions made me feel unwelcome. We asked about the tour that we booked and one of the staff members who was about to give us our boards told us that she didn't want to give it because she was about to be off and when she told us to check in with another staff member he told us that they didn't offer tours. We accepted to paddle on our own but when we got out to the water, the waves were rough and it was almost impossible to stand up. Although the skyline is pretty, the water is dirty considering all of the run off from the boats and the city. My friend and I left only 45 minutes into our 90 minute reservation. I would not go back to this location mostly because of the rude staff is and how they really made a terrible experience for my friend and I. read more

With the help of Joshua, our family rented the electric bikes to ride around Coronado island. I wasn't sure we would like it but everyone in our family loved it and it was actually one of the highlights of our 6 day vacation. Bike and Kayak Tours (Coronado Location) Here's my recommendation...rent your kayaks through Bike and Kayak Tours. We booked the Fireworks Kayak Tour, which runs during the weekends from late June through early September. The tour took us from the beach at the Ferry Landing to the historic Coronado/San Diego Bridge. We hung out around the bridge for about 15 minutes while our tour guide educated us on San Diego's great history. Then we headed back towards the Ferry Landing and watched the fireworks that was being launched from Harbor Island. Watching the fireworks from the ocean was awesome. Our guides did a great job too. I say it and I say it all the time. When I retire, we're going to live in Coronado. Coronado is beautiful and some of the best ways to enjoy this island is through bike & kayak. Thank you Bike and Kayak Tours for making this happen. Notes and Tips: -You can book a tour online or the old fashion way via phone. -The Fireworks Kayak Tour rates are as low as $40 per person. Tour is not limited to just kayaks. Paddle boards can also be rented. -Tour starts at 8:00 PM and runs until the completion of the fireworks. Check in at Bike and Kayak Tours around 7:00 PM to fill out the necessary liability paperwork. The tour guides will give a tutorial and some kayak training at 7:30 PM. -Bike and Kayak is also known for their tours through the La Jolla Caves. I did this tour over 10 years ago and it's a must if you're in the area. Lots of shark sightings too. -Bike rentals are also available. I took my daughter on one of these tours a few years ago. It was fun and another great way to experience the island. -The staff was amazing and funny. They gave good instructions and had fun doing it. They made our experience a memorable one. read more

Great Place to learn Kayaking! If you are new to kayaking (like me), I would recommend this place in Coronado. I went with someone who was more experienced than me and learn the basic skills while having a lot of fun and learning about the history of Coronado. I used a groupon for a double kayak for $39 and we spent 90 minutes or so cruising the waters. I think Sarah (the instructor) had us stop 4 or 5 times to regroup and this allow her a chance to explain the scenery and history. It also provided an opportunity to rest and take pictures of the area. A couple of tips: * They have lockers there for $2 that you can put your valuables in. * They have a quick changing room for you to change into your wet gear. * Expect to get wet, not soaked, but wet. * Expect to sign the release of liability forms. It is done on their computer by youself. Takes about 4 minutes and they email you the copy for your records. * Although, I didn't use my Vibram FiveFingers, I left them in car, next I will use them, any water shoes will work as you step from the sand shore into the kayak. * I put my camera in a zip lock bag and it kept it dry after I used it each time. Parking Alert: I parked on Second Street so that I didn't have to worry about validations and meters. (This area on the Weekends can be extremely difficult to find parking; I bike here on the weekends) There is very limited parking in that little shopping area that the store is located. Its cramped etc. It's a short walk from 2nd street to their building. The groupon was easy to use as you register all on-line and enter the groupon number. No problems easy! The tide was perfect not to strong and just right for me being a beginner. I will go by myself now that I have the basic skills. We went on an evening for the sunset tour. Don't expect to see the sunset for this and if that is your thing, I would recommend the LaJolla one as that's where I go paragliding and I know there are awesome sunsets there! Tour time: 1:00pm Tour guide: Jennifer Tips: Wear sunscreen, wear comfortable clothing/footwear that will get wet, bring a waterproof camera; picture worthy! Checked in at the kayak center. The weather was very windy and the worker Jennifer warned us in the advance that it may be challenging as we will be kayaking towards the wind. But me and my boyfriend were willing to take the risk. Once we waited till everyone arrived, we signed the waivers and were given lockers to put away our stuff. We were allowed to bring our gopro and phones for footage. Walked towards the shore and our tour guide, Jennifer, was very informative about the technique in paddling. She brought us out to the bay and started the tour. The wind settled down, so it was great. Jennifer explained to us about the history of SD and it's landmarks. As I am born and raised from San Diego, I learned a lot from Jennifer. She even told us information about the Downtown Skyline and its architecture and facts/rates of the beach houses located on the coronado island. Pretty cool. She was even nice enough to take pictures of us with the beautiful skyline behind us. We had one stop out of the tandem near the end of the bay, where we were able to rest, take pictures, and learn more about history. Then paddle more on the bay. It was a cold night, so they offered us hot coffee to take off the chill. They held up a relaxed and comfortable conversation with everyone while waiting for the other event participants. On the tour, the guides were cognizant of each individual's physical abilities and comfort. They were able to provide some local history and relevant ecological facts amidst the kayaking, all whilst maintaining our safety and happiness. They did a real stand up job. My 10-year-old son and I took the kayak tour in a double kayak. It was great! We had no experience and we were fine out on the bay. I had to do the majority of paddling but it was not too rigorous. You will get wet! So bring a towel (they don't provide them) and a change of clothes if you plan on hitting one of the restaurants nearby after your kayak. They do have dressing rooms to change. Also bring a water. I didn't think to bring one and it's a workout, I got thirsty! Our tour guide -- Sam -- was fantastic! He was knowledgeable about the area and he was a good teacher. Date of Visit: July 4, 2015 - Night Kayaking under the Fireworks I marked down 1 star for parking.... It was beyond HORRIBLE, but what can you expect for July 4th weekend in a small place like Coronado right? Still was so bad I just had to... As far as my experience with Bike and Kayak it was all good :) They are located in the Ferry Landing Village with the Blue tarp roof right next to cold stones and burger king. We checked in, got a locker, put our stuff in the locker, put on our life vests on(they have two sizes), grabbed our paddles with glow sticks attached to each end and was ready to PAAAAARTAAAAAY!........Ok Not really, we were waiting for a bit but everyone was excited and the guides were all giddy and awesome! They would answer any questions for you if you have any. Then, we were off...we walked from the check in place to the beach (took about 5 min.) and the entire time we were walking as a group with our paddles, maneuvering through the massive crowd bbq-ing with their familes we felt: GLORIOooouS! like we were a gang of some sort or...spartans getting ready for BATTLE!! Anyway, we were asked to crack our glowsticks (my boyfriend actually, literally cracked his open and it was dripping into the ocean killing fishes and shit. really? wth...... ) and each one of us started loading the kayaks and we were off to kayak the bay! Once we got out there, we were given the choice to lock paddles if we wanted to or just paddle along while the fireworks were going off and....just to remind you...This location has the best view of San Diego bay ...to add on to that...there were 4...FOUR!!!! fireworks shows going off at once that just rocked through your soul! I have never seen fireworks that close before and it was MAGNIFICENT! it was such an amazing, unforgettable experience that will be hard to top next year. We decided on seeing Coronado from bike and since neither of us have tried an electric bike we thought it was the perfect time to do it! These things were awesome, we had a blast buzzing around the beach walk without even breaking a sweat! They were fairly priced at about $55 for two bikes, two hours, plus a Yelp check in gets you a free water proof camera :) I was surprised at the power these batteries could provide, we rode for a straight 2 hours and never came close to wearing out the battery, and I am a big dude who did not feel like pedaling on this hot day! The staff was awesome and they have lockers for $2 right on site which is a nice find for rental places. I would definitely recommend if you like biking. Yeah it takes the "exercise" out of it to an extent, but you can pedal of you want to. All in all, a fun experience and cool opportunity to try something different! read more

Next we paddled back towards the ferry where we stayed to watch the fireworks. The firework show was delayed but the staff were more than fine with staying 30 minutes later. Tips: The lockers to put your valuables in cost $2. If you want to take your cell phone with you and not worry about dropping it in the water or getting it wet then buy the plastic waterproof lanyards $10.75 (If you have a touch screen it'll still read through the plastic material). This place needs to be shut down on Kayak rentals. I have Kayaked all over so.cal and consider myself an expert. Their kayak's are simply unsafe. Seat straps are tied in knots when ever a strap breaks, seat strap hooks broken. Total disaster. I turned around and said no thank you. Politely ask for a refund and was told the manager would contact me. Well I am tired of waiting, credit card charges will be disputed and refunded. But wait there's more since you have clearly displayed a money attitude over safety I have contacted the US Coast Guard to file a formal complaint, and the Health Dept. since you think it's ok to not sanitize PFD's and paddles between usage. Your liability release forms are useless when your equipment is unsafe. You are going to hurt a beginner Kayaker with this faulty equipment in this busy waterway of San Diego. read more

Enjoyed a very nice and informative tour with Mario. He was nice enough to give the tour both in English and Spanish. I brought a guest from Spain who did not speak English and that was appreciated. Mario was nice and professional and seemed to really enjoy his job. It was a nice pace and everyone was able to keep up. The instructions were clear and we had no problems whatsoever. I hope you know how to use an electric bike because, worry they won't even show you how to use it, leaving you to find it out on your own and with. Within 10 mins my fiancé bike was dead and the chain kept popping off, making us have to turn back to get another bike, that ended up not being much better than the first. This new bike also had chain problems which kept us from doing certain activities and having to fix the chain on multiple occasions leading to my hands and clothes getting dirty due to the chain grease, do not recommend. read more

Paddle boarding is fun and we had a good deal using groupon. You shouldn't have any issues if you do your research right and check their website before purchasing. They do make you walk with the paddle board to the beach which isn't too far away. Only downside was the waves being to crazy in la jolla and too many kayakers around made you have to be super aware of them or else they would take you out when they were coming back to shore. I would recommend the coronado spot since it's only the bay so the water is calmer. read more

Once you park you go to their little kiosk and sign their waivers, then they outfit you with a life vest and helmet and send you down to the beach. Once we were at the beach we waiting a few minutes for someone to tell us he was out tour guide. I can't for the life of me remember the guy's name (I took this trip like 6 months ago from writing this review, oops) but he was awesome. Our group was very small, it was me and my boyfriend in a double, another couple in a double, and one guy in a single. The tour guide was informative, loud enough to hear and was very engaging. We saw so much wildlife, it was a lot of fun! The only downside was that my boyfriend got seasick and threw up, but that's his own fault for eating a CA burrito before our tour... Nighttime Fireworks Kayak Tour in Coronado. 5 Stars for fun. Gorgeous view of the city and island. 1 Stars for organization and safety. I definitely recommend it as it is beautiful to be out there at night. The views of the city, bridge and island are amazing. Just don't expect any organization, direction or safety. Fortunately, we have experience in a Kayak. But there were many couples in kayaks and paddleboards that looked like first-timers. And because of the lack of organization, people were spread out all over the place. And at night time, when it is SUPER DARK on the water, it would be easy to get into trouble and NEVER BE SEEN AGAIN..... Note for Management. Help the guides be better prepared. (they try but they are basically kids.) The girl in charge was not a strong communicator (Jordan?). She rambled for 90 seconds but gave no real plan. The other guides tried to give better directions as we were launching but with so many people hitting the water at once, it was a "S show". You had people spread out from the Marriott all the way to the bridge and a LONG way from the shoreline. I kept my eye on a few people since it was obvious they were struggling and there wasn't a guide anywhere around. This got especially nerve-racking as big boats rolled by and created wakes. If they tipped over, it would have taken a long time for any of the guides to notice or find them. As a vacation spot, you get a lot of people who are just stoked to be there and not thinking or prepared. And with a bunch of college-age kids in charge, this is a tragedy waiting to happen.
