After seeing this store while driving on the highway, hubby and I decided to go and check it out…read more Upon entering the store, we noticed there were two different types of shopping carts for customers to use which were orange or green as well as a dash cart option. Hubby asked employee for more details about the different shopping options and the employee told him customers could shop the "normal way they" pay via self checkout or with a cashier or do the "dash cart" option. Hubby was told that the "dash cart" option was for Amazon Prime members who had their account connected to their bank account. After hubby confirmed his Amazon Prime bank account information, he was given a special cart which allowed him to scan our I'm while shopping for a completely contact-free experience As we walked down the aisles at Amazon Fresh Murrieta, I noticed that some of my favorite items cost substantially more there than elsewhere (e.g Veganaise is $9.99 at store I usually shop but was $11.57 at Amazon Fresh.) Hubby loved scanning his items while shopping and hearing the "ding" sound to signal that the scan was a success. When arriving at the salad bar and hot bar, I was pleasantly surprised to see allergen listed above the hot and salad bar food, I was disappointed by the small amount of vegan friendly bar options which consisted of ingredients to make a salad, vegetable stir fry, an Asian inspired chopped salad, and dolmas. I will admit that there was a bit of a learning curve when using the dash cart for salad bar items but luckily, an employee was nearby to walk us through the process. During our shopping trip, we learned that whenever you plan to purchase an item from the "salad bar," you have to select "add food or code," type in "salad bar," place your box in the back of the cart to have it automatically weighed, then place the box of food in your cart. Though this technology is cool, there we're times when the cart gave an error that we didn't put the item in the cart but this was easily fixed by pressing a button confirming all items weee in the cart. The ambience in the store was pleasant with several employees stocking the shelves, clear digital signage in the aisles, and wide aisles to accommodate several shoppers. My main pet peeve at Amazon Fresh Murrieta was that the store grouped vegan frozen food mixed with non vegan food. I personally would prefer to have vegan frozen food separate but understand that this might not be possible due to freezer space constraints. As hubby prepared to pay for our groceries, he was extremely pleased when he walked through the dash lane and exit, was checked out contact free, and the cart presented him with the choice of if he wanted his store receipt emailed to him. Overall, we both liked the shopping experience because it was interactive and thorough but disliked having to confirm that items purchased were actually in the cart. Likewise, we and would like to see more clearer signage in the hot bar/salad regarding discounts since we were told by an employee that food from there areas were reduced in price during 6pm-7pm but didn't see a discount on our store receipt.

It really is giving "fresh". It's rare to be welcomed inside the store with a store associate anymore so I appreciate the human connection. They have the best produce. I am always able to snag a few sales for the family. Huge selection of groceries. I love the Amazon return counter at the back of the store, it's a one stop shop for me. The only thing they can in the future would be a gas station, imagine! I also appreciate the curbside pickup option. Everyone is so quick and friendly. I am a happy customer!

I don't know that I'll miss Amazon fresh or not because the only thing I really loved here was the sushi. I'll stand by my word and continue to say they have the best store bought sushi. Today I stopped in to get some flowers, and same issue I always say. Nothing is ever really stocked. They had a fair selection but all the bouquets were small and a lot of them were welted and picked over. I guess it's not super horrible because each one was only $4.99. I didn't encounter or speak to any associates on this visit because I walked straight to the flowers and they're near self check out. The store itself is like most grocery stores. They have labeled isles, registers, a cold section, etc. I will say, the store appeared even more empty but probably because it's closing. One last thing, I'm going to miss the self scanning carts and checkout. For me it's always convenient when you don't have to stand in a line!

I was really curious as to how I could shop and walk out without scanning and paying at a checkout. Apparently, there are cameras and shelves are weighted, supposedly. If something is removed, it's assumed that I was purchasing it. There were helpful employees ready to answer questions, and they offered free reusable bags for me to use. I walked out with a few things and a receipt was emailed to me hours later. I was also able to see the itemized receipt on my Amazon purchase history. There was a minor mistake on the receipt for some taco seasoning that I was charged for since I picked it up to look at, but put it back without purchasing. Not a big deal since I got other items on sale. It was an interesting concept overall.

The first thing you encounter are gates* that supposedly require you to "scan your app" (or swipe a…read morecredit card) to get in to shop. I had neither an app nor a credit card, but fortunately a considerate employee permitted my entrance anyway, and I ended up paying with cash (let's be thankful for small miracles these days). Once inside, what do they offer for sale? About 90% is the same old convenience foods you'd find in any supermarket or 7-Eleven. The other ~10% are sandwiches, salads, and wraps that seem to be exclusive to Amazon Go. Given the size of the marketing push that Amazon is making for these stores, it seems like much ado about nothing. I'm NOT saying that Amazon Go is bad; it's just that I expected more uniqueness for all the ballyhoo they're making on it's behalf. I seem to recall some advertisements bragging about customize-able sandwiches, but nothing like that was in evidence. Perhaps 8pm on a Sunday was outside the window of availability for that. Another advertisement bragged "It's great; you walk in, grab and go and no need to wait in line or deal with cashiers", as if we customers are supposed to jump for joy at the idea of stores without employees ("How long until YOUR job is also downsized with software/apps?"). All in all, Amazon Go underwhelmed me, perhaps mostly because I'm old and am put off by the twin ideas of a retail establishment (a) having physical barriers to entry, and (b) bragging that their employees are few in number and mere tokens in their ultimate goal of employee-less retail experiences. * The kind that reminds one of the sort used to keep horses evenly aligned before the beginning of a race. If I'm ever moved for a second visit (which is doubtful), I may try pushing my way through them without scanning an app or swiping a credit card . . . . just to see how much resistance they present to the app-less & credit-card-less human.

I approached several staff members to assist me to investigate if the item I was looking to purchase was in stock in the back store room. They looked at me if I was speaking a foreign language, English is still the language of choice isn't it ? I ended up frustrated and decided to leave. This is not the first time that I encountered a language problem. I know what you're thinking " why didn't you ask for a manager". well this past January I had to wait 35 minutes for someone to find a manager and when they did I had to help them fill out the form to my dismay ! The manager said someone from the Corporate Office would contact me within 48 hours ...... its now June and I'm still waiting ! This is about Corporate Greed, non trained staff members and managers at no fault of their own have been placed untrained into the service of dealing with customers. My Walmart days of shopping are over ! Don R.
