After having had negative experiences with the new store's "walk-through technology" which included being charged for items I did not purchase and not being able to see these charges until well over an hour after leaving the store, I stopped going here. Now, several months later, I'm back and my experiences have improved dramatically. Cashiers are always there and I know immediately what I am being charged. The staff is patient and understanding and friendly as I scroll through my phone for the appropriate bar code for the product I want to return. The people behind me are patient as well however if things take to long I move to the side so they can process others. when I find a given code for an item they process them between processing the other customers rather than have me wait in line again like they have every right to do. The salad bar, soup bar, hot bar, and pizza station are very reasonably priced. Pizza looked better than it tasted. Burger-inspired salad was filling. New England clam chowder soup was delicious. They even have perfectly portioned, packaged lunch takeaways (including their soups) in the fridge section. Self checkout and cashier lines are short. I've never physically been into the store. I always ordered grocery pick up from them through the Amazon app. 5 star customer service just about every time I've ordered online and then come to pick up my groceries. 3 stars on inconsistent food freshness and the inability to get my order correct. I will miss chatting up the two kind ladies that seemed to always bring my order out to me in my vehicle. I'm upset they closed permanently. Whole Foods I like for some products but not all. Their prices are sky fkn high. That's where Amazon fresh filled the void of where to get the other products I needed at a more reasonable price. Sigh. Visit for the inexpensive organic produce and pantry items. Some freshly baked bread and deli items at reasonably prices. But don't expect more than that. Customer service is very poor and I find it abominable. Show up to pick-up your groceries outside or attempt returning an item because it had mold or it was expired? Expect to get grimaced and your questions not answered depending on who is working that day. Wait time can be long enough outside that it's actually faster to pick it up yourself inside the store. Your produce may have mold and bag containing bloated and expired/spoiled milk. My mom nearly got ran over by an employee with a cart and almost seriously injured herself. Expect zero apologies. Employee stood there annoyed and walked off. There's also a free EV charger in front of the store but it will be occupied by the store employee most of the weekday mornings. You will know because you thought the spot was open for use and park in it only to realize the silver Model Y is parked in another spot to charge and the employee anxiously in and out of the store to check up on it as you will have to park elsewhere. The self-checkout line continues to have the same sort of glitch -- you can scan the QR Code but it will require you to have the physical card on you to pay. Seriously annoying when you normally don't carry handbags or wallets like I do because it's tedious having to go get it from the car and get lambasted by the employee who will remind you to hurry up and make it quick because the transaction will be voided and it's more work for him. So yeah, go to the Irvine store if you're looking for an actually stress-free fuss-free shopping experience. They have a much better customer service and overall bigger and better selection. read more

I have avoided this place based on negative reviews. I popped in the other day to check it out as there was a deal for something I wanted. I ended up doing my weekly shopping and was impressed. It's very organized lots of options, if you take your time and pay attention there's many deals. The eggs are under $6 which is pretty good with Walmart and other stores at $10. The service is good the staff are very nice and today the cashier showed me where a deal was which was so nice! Certain items like hygiene and wine are on the pricier side but if your a prime member there's normally a $10 or so coupon off the bill. I got strawberries today and it was $3.50 for one double the size of the grocery stores, and the fruit was very fresh. FOOD POISONING! Food safety issues!! I ate a slice of pepperoni pizza and shortly after started to feel queasy and by the end of the day I was spending some time in the bathroom. My coworker bought sushi, same thing happened to her and my other coworker bought a veggie platter to share. Once he opened it the whole office stank of putrid rotten cauliflower, the whole tray had to be tossed. I liked coming here for the ability to shop, walk out, and get the receipt by email, but I think that technology was phased out. The last time I came, I just returned Amazon purchases. I'm so disappointed that this location is closing. initially when the store opened I only went if I had discount coupon. but in the last 6 months this store has become my regular shopping place. so easy to find sale prices as they are marked on the shelf. I don't have to take the paper ad with me as with other stores. The store attendants have always been so nice and helpful, even those who are pulling items for delivery. One time I bought a chocolate chip croissant and the woman cashier looked at it and asked me what it was. These women in the registers are very unpleasant and unprofessional. Parking is great, it's convenient being able to pay with the default card used for Amazon purchases with my phone, and the grab-and-go food prices seem pretty good. Unfortunately I had a bad experience ordering ahead. I ordered 12 pizzas in the app. It says they'll take 15-20 min but I estimated longer since I ordered 12. I piddled around the store because the app said my pizzas still weren't ready. I finally said something and evidently they didn't even start my order. I ordered pizzas at 11:08, it's 12:15 and they said 5 more minutes until they're ready. Edit to add: I got an Amazon notification later that evening saying that I needed to pay my Amazon Fresh bill before shopping again. I was very confused because I used a specific card when I checked out with the cashier, got a receipt, and was charged accordingly. Evidently, anything I picked up and looked at was going to be charged to my Amazon Prime card on file even if I put it back on the shelf exactly where I found it! I called customer service and got the pending charges removed and asked how to avoid that next time. She said that they recommend customers don't pick up an item unless they're sure they want it. So that means no changing my mind. I can't shop like that. I won't be visiting there anymore. read more
