Worst in every category!! Took one of my Volvo's to this person to fix the blower for A/C unit in the vehicle .he kept my vehicle from aug 3 2025 until dec 11 2025 this guy had every excuse in the book why the work wasn't done!! When he finally called on dec 11 for me to pick up my vehicle , 1st he had me do was make a payment which was more expensive than putting in a complete new A/C I paid $1500 and I had not even seen my vehicle! Once I paid the outrageous amount I was walked to my vehicle. Once there I opened up the drivers door and to my surprise my brand new leather car seats ,and my brand new carsilk floor mats, radio speakers,and OBII scanner were all gone!!! I asked him where they were he said he left my vehicle outside because he needed room for another vehicle and someone broke into my vehicle!! He said it happened about a month or so earlier yet he never called the police!!! So I asked him to call the police that day but he wouldn't, so I called the police and they took a police report!! my back door wouldn't close and the back window wouldn't role down and my steering wheel wouldn't lock still !! I Cranked the car up and the check engine light was on !! He said the heater core needed be replaced, he even wrote me estimate for $2500 This vehicle was flawless when I dropped it off no problems other than the blower resistor and this was actually checked out by a legitimate shop independence Volvo!! Only needed the blower resistor replaced!! While the police were there he kept stating he would replace everything after the police left he was very rude and told me to take him to court!!! Because he's not responsible for vehicles that he's working on at his shop!!! I will never let this nut case work on anything else ever of mine and yes I am going to take him to court!!! PS: He rigged up some button to AC unit and yet it still doesn't work!!!! read more

Oh Joseph....I cannot say enough about Swedish Connection. I had a very complicated repair for a new axle and drive shaft. The old axle would stubbornly not come out. Joseph and his team went above and beyond to solve the problem. He spent hundreds of hours (for real) to solve the situation and honored his original quote. Joseph is as honest and trustworthy as they come. I would recommend him to anyone that needs Volvo service. As long as I own a Volvo, the Swedish Connection is the only place I would trust. The owner Joe had given me an opportunity to work here and then calls me an hour before my starting day and tells me he doesn't need me anymore and someone else is starting who fits the job better. I wasn't going to write a review but something hilarious happened over the weekend at a Volvo car meetup. I show up with my '73 164 that I got running myself, and my girlfriend shows up in her '88 244 which we have fully restored and I have manual swapped. And I meet one of his clients, name will stay anonymous. But they had been frustrated with Joe's attempt to fix their headlights, and I saw his lazy wiring, his autozone toggle switch mounted in the dash in place of the original switch. And the high beams still didn't work. Hey guess what! I fixed it for them in 30 seconds with no tools! Such an easy diagnosis that the relay was sticking. A couple hard hits of the relay and now it works for her. I went ahead and found and extra relay for them that I had already re-soldered - since I have a huge stockpile of parts for these cars that I go through and inspect. I wasnt going to write a review. But I find it absolutely hilarious that he told me I wasn't good enough for the job and then fixed one of his clients cars at a car show in a couple minutes. It has taken me a little while to get around to writing this but here it goes! TL;DR, The Swedish Connection is hands-down the best place to take your Volvo. I have a 2014 Volvo and was experiencing some strange noises and a bit of trouble downshifting. After calling both dealerships in the Charlotte area and being met with some responses that left me questioning things, I called The Swedish Connection. Expecting to be given a quick "meh, bring it in and we'll look at it", much to my surprise I was met with an extremely attentive gentleman named Joe who asked lots of questions and was able to give me an idea of what might be going on, which put my mind at ease a little. As someone who works in Engineering in the field of vehicle safety, I take my car and its maintenance very seriously. I brought my vehicle to The Swedish Connection the next day and Joe put it up and took at look at it. Once he had isolated the problem, Joe asked if I would like to come back and see the problem for myself - I jumped at the chance. He took time to explain what was going wrong and how he planned to fix it. He showed me the costs and outlined what his recommended course of action would be. I asked lots of questions and he was able to confidently answer every single one - he knows his stuff! I brought my vehicle back a few days later, once the parts had arrived. During the service, Joe discovered an unexpected problem. He personally called me and told me what was wrong, took pictures and even a video of the problem. I asked that he go ahead and fix the newly-discovered issue. In an effort to get my vehicle back to me asap, he even went and picked up the necessary parts from the local shop himself and didn't charge me for installation of the parts. When I came to pick up my vehicle, Joe asked if I would like to see the broken parts. He saved the damaged pieces to show me, demonstrated what had happened and allowed me to see for myself that it was, in fact, in need of replacement. Keep in mind, I did not ask him to do any of this. It was so great! Then he turned on my car. Well. It was so quiet I felt like I was driving a Prius - I couldn't believe the difference! I had no idea my car could be so quiet. He got it running like the day it was made. His staff were so kind and welcoming, and the shop was very tidy. You know when you walk in that you've found a place that knows their Volvos. Joe invests in all the proper tools and attends regular training to stay on top of the game. He can do basically everything a Volvo dealership can do, but he goes above and beyond. I am SO glad I found this place. This is an honest, caring business and Joe is an individual who has clearly found his calling. If you have a Volvo, head to The Swedish Connection. You will be so, so glad you did. read more

Hands down Volvo s60 owners - and you know what I mean ... this is your guy. You don't need to take your car to anyone else, and especially the dealers. I've been with Joe for 2 years now, after the expiration of the drive train warranty- my car has had a LOT of miles put on it, but I treat it for the investment it was.. and keep up with all the important stuff. While none of us enjoy the experience of car repairs... at this point post pandemic and the cost of cars... it's worth it to repair versus replace. Joe is the most honest mechanic you will encounter- he knows his stuff- I'm relieved that someone so schooled and award winning is working on my car. I have a 2008 Volvo C30 that is out of warranty @ 140K miles and counting. This was the first time I haven't had my car serviced by a Volvo dealership. Joe did an excellent job, stuck to his word on the quote. Although the job took a little longer to finish than expected due to a parts supplier, I was ok as he communicated to me as soon as he knew about the issue. The quote that I received and paid for the work at TSC was about half of what the the local dealerships wanted!!!!! I couldn't be happier!!! My son, who is interning in Charlotte for the summer, has taken his 00 v70 to Joe (owner) twice in the past month. First time it was the hood latch (dealer wanted $700 to fix it and another establishment in town wanted $100 to take a look at it.) Joe fixed it for $10 by fixing the broken part rather than replacing the entire assembly. In the second instance, the ignition key was not turning and would work only if after wiggling it around for a few minutes. Joe looked at it and advised that we replace the ignition lock (after 20 years and 200K miles of use) because the tumblers were worn out. No estimating charges to provide the quote were levied on us and the price to recode a new ignition lock was a lot less than a dealer. Joe is a person with tons of integrity, and one who is not out to capitalize on a bad automotive situation (like many others would, particularly if you are from out of town). He is a great mechanic with in-depth knowledge and expertise on volvos and most other cars. We had a lot of work done on our 2007 S60. Joe is honest and fair. He told us in advance that he would complete one part of the job and test the car to make sure the problem was fixed before completing the rest of the work--if that one problem couldn't be resolved, the car wouldn't be worth keeping. My daughter, who was living in New Orleans, had brought her old 1995 Volvo 940 wagon in to several mechanics in NOLA without success. It had been running rough and would stall at low idle. She had been told it needed anything from a camshaft to and main engine bearing seal. Based on the issues she had described I didn't think either of those repairs would solve the problem. So when she was visiting, I brought the car to Joe. We explained the issues and he said it didn't sound like major work was needed. He explained what he thought might be the issue based on the symptoms, but would give us an estimate once he had a chance to look at it. He got back to us quickly and as I suspected, it only needed a tune up, i.e. wires, plugs, etc. He also found it needed a crankshaft sensor. Not only was the work done quickly, but he saved all the old parts so we could see their condition. The car has been running perfectly for several weeks now. In a nutshell, this was a wonderful experience. Joe did an excellent job. He is clearly very knowledgeable about Volvos, is honest, reliable and reasonably priced. read more

First of all I want to start off by saying I am so glad I found the shop. A few months ago I acquired a used 2001 Volvo S80. The previous owner was not very forthcoming with the vehicle in terms of its condition and repairs. He falsely presented the car to me in terms of what had been done to it.as it turns out most of what he told me was simply not true. After driving it for several weeks I quickly found out that what I purchased was a problem child. Once I learned what I was dealing with I was told I needed to take it to the Swedish connection and man am I glad that I did. The head mechanic Joe at the swedish connection said what I was dealing with was something he had only encountered very little since working on Volvos. In fact my ECM had to be sent off to Canada for software upgrade. I was very worried that things were not going to work out favorably for me as these were not cheap repairs at all. I really appreciate Joe's persistence as he took his time and diagnosed all of my issues and fixed them one by one never wavering. Once he fixed one thing something else would mess up and so on and so forth.Well the bottom line is he cares about your car and he cares about his customers and he did whatever it took to get my car back running good. He does things that most mechanics would not do such as going to junk yards and finding parts for your car that are in good condition to save you money. This is THE BEST place to have your Volvo services. Joe is absolutely wonderful- skilled, professional, caring and honest! He goes the extra mile for his customers- a rarity for a new customer like me. Last September, I took my XC60 in for the 60k maintenance with new spark plugs. He researched, called the Volvo dealership and found out there was a recall so I didn't need (my car is certified preowned). He didn't have to do any of this - I would have never know (no recall mailing). Other places would have charged me. I took the car back in late this month (November) for rear brakes. I mentioned a concern about the oil light. Again, Joe was awesome. He let me know this was an ongoing issue with my year/make & I should document. I took the car into the dealership (under warranty) & had NO problem getting it fixed (for now). I highly recommend Joe and Swedish Connection.
