Hokan is extremely thorough and explains everything that must be done to do the job correctly. No add on surprises along the way. I had a new roof installed and two two skylights replaced. When the roof was done the interior damage to the skylight "housing " drywall and plaster was cracked , had previous water damage and new nails and screws protruding. Hokan practically rebuilt the area , correcting all the damage and making it look new. Such a fantastic job and done with a smile. We hired Hokan to come and repair and paint our walls and ceiling after we had some electrical work done in our family room. He responded quickly with a cost and time estimate via e-mail, and we scheduled a time for him to come out. He arrived promptly (actually, early) and quickly got to work. I was optimistic finding a Swedish painter on Yelp in my neighborhood, because in Sweden professional craftsmen tend to take their work seriously. Hokan is no exception. We had a whole 3 bedroom condo painted and he did it all by himself (no hired in subcontract crew), took about 5 days to finish and that included a custom-design wall, accent wall, in total 4 different colors. Hokan recently painted the interior of an old cottage for me in Laguna Beach and he did an incredible job. The walls are all wood, no drywall, so it required a tremendous amount of detail. This post is long overdue, but we hired Hokan to paint the wrought iron fence that runs along the perimeter of our property. Hokan is an absolute joy to work with. Finding a quality painter is one of the hardest tasks, and he is THE BEST. A true artisan, gentleman, and master painter. As anyone who has painted knows, it is all in the preparation. Hokan spent 2 days meticulously prepping the surface (in my case, door casings that had been painted in 1950 with oil-based paint, then covered in latex that was now peeling- YIKES) before his one day of painting. He knew all the right things to do to make the new paint stick, and took his time getting things really perfect. He listens, works with the customer, and is cheerful and kind. Highly recommend! We are pretty picky. He was on time, nice, trustworthy and meticulous AND not a ripoff! He recommended Home Depots Behr paint with a primer in it and eggshell finish for a good one coat coverage and we are very happy with the paint as I have always used Vista Paint or Dunn-Edwards which probably would have required two coats and ultimately cost more money in time. Hokan repaired some wallpaper that was falling off one wall and it looks like new. He took special care to do the job right, scraping off the old paste and cleaning up all the debris that fell on the floor. He made a special trip late in the day because he knew it was an emergency with an event the next day at my house.
