I've been coming to this shop for years. Customer service is top notch and prices are reasonable. The staff is very knowledgeable of their products and services. The space is clean and they're even dog friendly. There's limited free and street parking. I recommend taking advantage of their buy 5 get the 6th service for free deal. They are also able to schedule appointments up to 3 months away. Another great feature is their mobile app. Frequent customers can take advantage of their electronic loyalty stamp card which gives 20% discount on products and services on the 10th visit. They do have an in-store boutique full of products such as lotions and skin care. I recommend their sugar scrub and moisturizing lotion. Summer is their busiest time and I recommend advanced appointments. read more

I came here to have the Classic Skin procedure done, to get rid of my many bumps from sebaceous hyperplasia. Very nice atmosphere and staff. Elise did a phenomenal job: informative beforehand and gentle and precise during the procedure. (Note: She's also really nice and funny.) I followed instructions, and now, two weeks later, the inevitable red marks have faded, and the bumps are flattening or disappearing entirely--including the huge one right on the tip of my nose, hooray! Definitely recommend Elise and will definitely go back myself as new/recurring bumps appear. So worth it! read more

Don't like leaving yelp reviews but I felt like I needed to this time. Kalayna my waxer was very sweet. But the quality of my Brazilian was poor. A LOT of hair was missed. I've never had an issue with my waxes in the past. My usual girl is by far the best I've ever had. I see Tinisha, when she is not available I know that Elise and Miyuki are amazing. This is a luxury service and paying for this service you expect a thorough and clean job. Kalayna was not able to provide that unfortunately. I will still continue to come to Sweet Spot, but I now know that if my usual girl is not available, I will reschedule. Consistency is key. read more

Who knew sugaring would be so amazing? I will say the first time that I decided to get sugaring done, I did not know what to expect. Anytime you are taking hair off of your body, it is never ever fun or pain-free; there's always some kind of uneasiness that comes with it. However, with all the cheerful and helpful faces here at the Sweet Spot, I no longer fret to sugar! My first time was very nerve-wrecking but thanks to Malina, I was super calm and had a good experience! She is super nice, welcoming, and super accommodating--she offered me lollipops as we were sugaring (brazilian) but I declined and asked for a towel to bite on because my nerves were killin' me. She happily obliged and continued to distract me by talking to me about her life and mine--and it was super genuine. I appreciated that. I also appreciate the fact that they give you thorough details about how to take care of your skin after you have finished your sugaring. The times I have come again, they still remain super cheerful and helpful and super sweet. They are a very busy studio so make sure you book in advance! I got a last minute appointment once and that seemed like a rarity, nonetheless I was thankful! Prices are a bit high, but I also love the feeling of sugaring. It is painful still, but I am happy knowing that the products are sugar and not wax. About $70 for a brazilian and $60-$65 for a 3-week follow-up appointment. I think it was like $20 to sugar my under arms...and the funny thing is I only have like 15-25 hairs under my arms. Their products are also super natural and amazing to use! Nutshell: Felt dismissed, criticized and left humiliated and teary. Details below. I have been coming to The Sweet Spot for years, usually 2-3 times a year just before vacations.  For most of the years, I just had my bikini area done (usually an extended bikini), but more recently I've started doing half legs.  Over the years, I've seen about 4 different aestheticians here and my understanding is that recently, there was an ownership change. This past Friday, I went in and did the duo (half legs, followed by an extended bikini).  I'm really sad to say I quite a terrible experience.  I left near tears and won't go back there again.  I'd strongly suggest you find another place.  My first aesthetician, Elise, was fine for the most part; Not as warm as other aestheticians I've had, but no big deal. She mentioned a couple of times that my skin was really dry and the sugar preferentially stuck to the dry skin and not the hair, so she was having to go over certain locations twice.  I asked her if she could tweeze the hairs that were short, and she explained that they don't do that with legs, but she'd try to get as much as she could with the sugar.  When she was done, I was really disappointed. Rather than the silky smooth legs I'd been hoping to run my hands over, it looked and felt more like how legs might feel 2 days after you shave--lots of little prickly stubble (and some longer hairs that I believe were missed with the sugar).  I couldn't help but sadly express my disappointment and she explained about hair cycle and how it's hard to get all the hairs (which make sense) but went on to explain how exfoliating/moisturizing would have helped yield better results.  While this may be true,  the delivery felt a little pointed and came off as justification for a job not quite well done. The bikini is when things really went south (pun accidental, but appropriate I suppose).  The aesthetician was Miyuki and from the very beginning when she walked in the room I got a sense that she was pre-informed of my disappointment with my legs. I described Elise as not as warm, and in comparison, Miyuki came off chilly.  Her first question to me as I was lying there (hips frogged out) was if I moisturized and exfoliated.  I explained that I didn't, and without a smile, and somewhat reproachfully, she explained to me how sugaring was an expensive service and it was important to exfoliate and moisturize in order to be pleased with the results. In all the years, I've sugared, no one has every told me this about my bikini area and I've always been pleased with the results.  As she was sugaring, she used the sugar to stretch the skin tight and then pulled up to remove the hairs. Normally, the pulling part hurts, but her technique of stretching the skin tight with the sugar was very painful --more than the hair pulling.  I asked her if she could be more gentle because the skin pulling part was hurting and again, straight-faced, chilly and with a note of condescension, she explained, that, "yeah, it's a painful service."  I really should have got up and walked away at that point.  I wish I had.  I told her that I'd been doing this for many years and yes, I know it's painful, but not usually all the part when the sugar is being applied. She went on to explain how different aestheticians have different techniques (um yeah, lady, that's why I'm telling you what hurts).   We finished the appointment in uncomfortable silence. When I paid, the receptionist asked me if I'd like to book a future appointment.  I told her no and that based on my experience, I would not be coming back here.  I started to explain my experience to her and at that point Miyuki came out to participate in the conversation.  I tried to explain that I also work in customer service and a bedside manner is important (especially when the customer is in a vulnerable position such as sugaring puts one in), as is the style in which you deliver information (reproachful versus commiserative, blaming versus validating) matters. Rather than truly address my offense and disappointment, they turned every statement I made around and parroted it back to me: That my requests/comments had a condescending tone and my job as the client was also to be pleasant and have a good bedside manner. I know this is long, but it was really important to me to tell you not to go here. I wanted to share all the details for validity and transparency. If you do go, I hope you don't have the experience I had AND consider asking for Tinisha. She's a pretty great person and my experience with her in a time prior was positive. Elise was fine. Avoid Miyuki. Edited to add that I later spoke to a manager. She listened, validated and committed to following up with the staff. Best sugaring studio I've visited in Seattle. The facility is clean, modern and everyone I encountered (two ladies behind the reception counter, my sugarer Kari, and the owner who I spoke with for a few minutes) was professional, friendly and helpful. I was offered coffee or tea when I arrived, sat briefly in the lovely lobby area before my service and was even offered samples of an artisanal product for sale in the lobby area. I had my eyebrows sugared for the first time last night. I wasn't sure what to expect and was actually kind of scared. I'd been waxing them for years but looking to try something new. I tried threading and it wasn't for me, I was hoping sugaring might be. As someone else has stated the place it kind of hard to find, it's down some stairs between two restaurants once you see the stairs it's a piece of cake. The place is super cute and very Fremont inside the art if fun and hip and girlie, I liked it. The receptionist's were both very friendly and the puppy dog was super cute too. My appointment was at 7:00 pm and I arrived a little early and sit in the waiting area for my appointment the first thing I noticed is you can hear what's going on in the two sugaring rooms. It was like a science lesson on hair follicles, rather fascinating and entertaining all at the same time. So I'm waiting and waiting and getting a bit upset my appointment was at 7:00 and its now after 7:00 one of the receptionists comes over and apologizes and informs me that the client before me was late. I'm ok with that if you apologize and explain to me what's going on no worries because one day I may be the late client. Plus the girl who was late came out and apologized to me too which I thought was cool. It's finally my turn, I go into the sugaring studio, I get my own science lesson and she goes to work. The process is rather interesting and cool. The sugar they use looks like a sparkly gold blob and they put in on your skin and than peal/rip it off kind of like silly putty, at least in my head that's what I thought it was like. The process is less painful than waxing and 100 times less painful than threading plus 100 times more sanitary than threading, that alone deserves them 5 stars! So far I'm loving the outcome I haven't had to pluck any stray hairs this morning that might have been missed and I'm not looking in the mirror with my head cocked to one side because I think my eyebrows are uneven. There's been no redness or tenderness because the sugar is not hot like wax its room temperature. The cost for eyebrows is around twice what I normally pay to get them waxed but you know what it's totally worth it the results are much better than waxing. After 15 4-star reviews, it's time to move on to some 5-star rockstars! My de-virgining sugaring experience was here. Before this, I've heard of sugaring, but didn't really even know what it meant. Wow, what a great experience it was! You go into a room, undress the area you need sugared. The aesthetician gets a ball of sugar (it's a sugar, lemon and water mix cooked to a soft ball consistency) in her gloved hand, works it so that it's pliable, and then start to flick hair off of you. The ball goes on against the hair growth and the flicking happens with the hair growth, which is the opposite of what happens when you get waxed, but because of this process, it's a bit less painful and I think gives you fewer in grown hairs. However, because the area being worked on at any given point in time is smaller, it takes longer, so, for some people, can turn out to be more painful. The aesthetician was friendly and we had a great conversation, which really helped with distracting you from the amount of time it takes. Went here right before a big vacation to Cancun, and hair stayed away for the entire vacation and even some time after. IMO, definitely grew back slower and finer than waxing. Love! read more

Intro: I have gotten my legs waxed before. However, I wanted to try sugaring after hearing great reviews. Enter Sweet Spot: When I made the appointment the receptionist was very friendly and got me in right away. When I got there I was so nervous. Besides my husband, no one ever looked down there...I went in for my appointment and met DeAnn. She said she was going to be doing my wax today. WAX!: She gave me a lollipop saying it would help (it did!!!). Got undressed and she started. The first rip was ouch! However, there was no pain after like waxing has. DeAnn was talkative and super nice. She had been doing it for 5 years and it showed. She told me that the spots that are the most pleasurable are the most painful. Agreed. After: I was pink, but not red nor was I bleeding. All in all it took 40 minutes. She waxed everything, and even did a second check. I have never been this smooth. I have been sugaring for years, and just made my second visit to the Sweet Spot. Unfortunately, it was not a good experience. I was on a cancellation list for my favorite aesthetician. I received a voicemail message a few days ago telling me that an opening for this afternoon had opened up, and I called back within an hour to book it. Somehow, I did not end up on the schedule, and they had scheduled someone else in my spot. That is annoying, but forgivable -- stuff happens. What is less forgivable was their reaction. What they should have said was, "I am so sorry about the mix-up. What can we do to make this right?" Instead, it turned into a he said/she said situation, in which they said they couldn't really figure out what happened until they were able to speak with the staff members who were on duty at the time of my call (and who were not there today). I said, "I can tell you what happened. WHY I didn't get on the books is an internal matter that you need to figure out with your staff, but the fact that I didn't should not be in dispute." It got to the point that I was offering up cell phone records and a witness to make my case that I did actually call back to book the appointment. They were able to squeeze me in with another aesthetician, which I appreciate, but it happened only because I insisted on it. They acted like they were doing ME a favor for doing so, instead of it being the minimally acceptable response. In fact, I asked for some sort of discount for my trouble and the fact that I couldn't get it with the person I had wanted to, but the owner was unwilling to budge. I will be returning at least once more because I have pre-paid for a service. But I don't think I will make it my regular place. It is disappointing, as I had high hopes for this place. They are pricier than all the other sugaring in town, and as a result I had expected a higher level of service. Unfortunately, they just didn't come through. read more

I am officially moved out of Seattle now, and I think it's one of the places I'll miss the most. The staff are delightful, real people who are more concerned with your comfort and hair-removal goals than anywhere else I've ever gone. And hair removal can definitely put you in a vulnerable position-- ahem. The great thing about sugaring too is that I've noticed that it lasts longer than waxing because it more effectively pulls out the hair, plus its significantly more sanitary than waxing. They grab and make a sugar ball just for your session using Alexandria products (google if you like), are able to do the entire session with just that one ball, and throw it away. There's no double dipping like with waxing. It is definitely hard to find as others have said, so what I would usually do is park in the street behind-- 35th, in front of the office building. Go half way down the block to park and you'll be in the right place to wander your way to the back entrance. Sounds sketchy, but if you end up making multiple visits, you'll figure it out eventually. Maybe that wasn't a helpful tidbit after all-- so hard to explain. But for your first visit, it may be easier to go through the front. Give yourself plenty of time. Oh, last thing I want to mention (but certainly not least) is that it is a small, independent, woman-owned, local business, so another great reason to support. read more

I used to be a very consistent client at the sweet spot. I loved going to Erica and booked appointments monthly. However, their 24 hour cancellation policy is set up to drive away customers because sometimes you don't have 24 hours to call ahead and cancel an appointment. Better yet they charged my card, for half my services, that I had on file for almost two years without even contacting me, and they wouldn't even consider reversing the charge knowing that my daughter was ill. I'm sorry but I'm not going to leave my two month old child, at the time, to get sugared. I would have rescheduled my appointment if only they had tried to contact me. Bottom line, I will never support a business that is run so black and white and a business that is definitely not customer oriented. read more

I know, I know. I'm a spa whore. What can I say? I have a sweet spot for local businesses that sugar me with attention from head to hairless toe. And that's how I found myself entering this little refurbished warehouse in Fremont. Painted over in blues and grays with whimsical art on every wall and a huge variety of purchaseable goods on display as you walk in. You will want to browse a while. Trust me. You'll recline onto a luxuriously soft cervical pillow, disrobed but for a small, somewhat awkward towel covering only the bare necessities. Muse, Adele, Will I Am and Bing Crosby... these are the sounds you'll hear playing seamlessly through your bedside speaker. Awesome? I need this anthologized into an album please. Ah, I almost forgot! Like many others have mentioned, no ingrown hairs. Very meticulous procedure. :) Here are a couple of things I'm not too sweet on: 1. The price. It just doesn't need to be that high. Brazilians start at $75 and go up from there. And yet the service is no different from lower-priced sugaring salons. 2. The sugar scrub. Although it leaves your skin soft and glowing- GLOWING!- it's full of chemicals. And I'm not totally crazy about the citrusy smell. It just doesn't go with my pheromones or something. Still, I might have to go back to listen to that sweet music. You just don't hear compilations like that every day. read more

I tried out the sweet spot since it's sooo much closer to my house than what used to be my normal sugaring place (turns out it's also less expensive!). Malia (sp?) was my sugarist and she was SO great and put me completely at ease. The store is cute and offers slightly expensive boutiquey items that are fun to look at while you wait. The office staff are pretty nice too. One lady who works there let me play with her really cute dogs while I waited and they both offered me beverages. Here are some highlights: 1. Drink lots of water and don't exfoliate before you come. Also EAT! 2. Although the rooms look like they just have curtains (weirded me out at first) it turns out they're pocket doors and no one will whoosh past the curtain to interrupt like I was imagining. 3.$75 for a brazillian, $50 for half leg. Maintenance is less. I like that Malia changed what viscosity of sugar she was using depending on the area and tried to make it as pain free as possible. They have a few parking spots. My only complaints are: -The blinding lights on the ceiling (I know they're there so people can see every hair they're removing, but they hurt my eyes!!). - They dont let you use a towel to cover up during service. So if you're getting a half leg and brazillian you're just hanging out all naked during the half leg. Uncomfortable. - They charge for trimming. I'm already paying you $150, the 30 seconds it takes to trim cant be worth the second thought it puts in my mind (something along the lines of being nickle and dimed...). read more

I had my first manzillian wax with Jessica two weeks ago. Jessica is 100% professional, & made feel very comfortable. The building is easy to find in Freemont, & they have parking. Nice waiting area, where you can get coffee, water, tea, etc. The rooms are very clean & what I would expect. Jessica describes each step before continuing, so there are no suprises. As far as pain goes, it isn't that bad. Next appoint is in a few weeks. I love it. My wife loves it. Man up and do it. read more

The Man's View: The Manzilian (male Brazilian) I went to The Sweet Spot as a kind of a new adventure. I had no particular reason to do it, but I ran across this place somewhere on the web, thoroughly researched it, and decided to go for it. I will confirm the positive things that have been said here plus I got a next day appointment (maybe because I could go any time). I also agree with their no-show policy. OK. About the man thing: I agonized about what results there would be from a woman working on my dangly bits and there was, in fact, some response. Apparently, this is just not an issue, one way or the other, so I was able to relax and enjoy, sort of. It is necessarily painful to some extent to have hair removed, so once that process started arousal was not longer an issue. My experience with the pain was like this: Once the the sugar ball was rubbed into the hair and skin, Deanne had me take a big breath and then blow it out sharply. As I was blowing out, she would quickly pull the sugar off of me. The first fraction of a second felt like someone tugging at my hair. This was quickly followed by a intense burning sensation, lasting maybe 5 seconds. After that subsided, there was a low level soreness that went away it a minute or two. The pain is intense and shocking, but it is very brief. Maybe that is good for developing mental discipline. Before arriving I wondered how I would be treated. Would there be funny looks, or whispering, or would the female clients move across the waiting room? None of that happened. I was treated respectfully by both staff and other clients. My fears were unfounded. I now know why women like a day at the hairdressers, or a massage or things like that. It was wonderful to be pampered by someone whose attention was entirely on me for a few minutes. read more

I'm updating my review from 5 stars to 4 . . still get great services there, but I am completely over how difficult it is to get an appointment here. The last time I was there, i couldn't get a follow up four weeks out, seriously? and they advised me that I better go ahead and make my July appointment then (IN MID MAY). So I did, but I don't really want to have to think about making salon appointment so far in advance, especially when I end up cancelling them half the time because something comes up (since the rest of my life is not planned months in advance) and then I end up shaving, which screws up my hair cycle for weeks etc etc. And even scheduling 6-8 weeks in advance, I can't always get the person I want. I get that this is the original sugar place in Seattle and that they are great and everything. I really like it there when I can get in. But I can't live my whole life around the Sweet Spot's schedule. I don't know how other clients do it. Maybe I am not on their favorite list? dunno. They are a great shop, but I am trying different ones around town to try to find a new place. read more

One visit, and I'm a convert! DeAnn was super nice and very VERY thorough. I won't say what I had waxed, but I will say I kept my pants on. I've done both waxing and threading for years (Cher and I had the same threader, no lie), and sugaring rocks! I would agree it's about a 10th as painful as waxing. I never had a problem with threading, but I can say with all my heart that sugaring is the way to go. It's no feather duster to the face, but it's the best way to go for hair removal, and I loved the whole vibe of this salon. I can't wait to go back! read more

First of all, let me just say that the Sweet Spot is great... BUT... I have decided to go elsewhere because of their ridiculously long wait times for appointments. Last time, I had to wait 5 weeks between appointments (when ideally I like 3). They said it was because one of the employees was having surgery. She's now back-- it's Di Ann, and she's FANTASTIC-- but my wait time after my most recent appointment is 2 months. Seriously, nothing available for 2 months! So I'm going to try somewhere else. Also, for those of you considering converting to sugaring from waxing: sugaring is nice but I don't know who these people are that say it's painless. Hair removal hurts, no matter how you do it. However, the fact that you're not having hot chemicals put on your face (or elsewhere on your body) is enough for me to stick with sugaring. read more

I have very sensitive skin that can easily flare up into a week-long painful problem (rashes, hives, ingrown hairs, random spots that really aren't acne or a rash). I've been going to the Sweet Spot for about four months and love it. Erica, Megan, and Dena (I think? She's the one that offers to let you eat the sugar) are all awesome and I really appreciate their friendliness as no one feels comfortable having -that- hair ripped out. I haven't met the owner, but if the employees are anything to go by, I'm sure she's just as wonderful. Erica always makes me feel at home and really keeps my attention off of the process (I've actually fallen asleep on the table), even though there really isn't much pain. Because of the process, I'm finding that the hair is growing in much thinner, softer, and less overall. Sugaring isn't something I'm willing to give up any time soon, even if the price is a bit steep for every four weeks ($65 + tip for brazilian maintenance, $85 for initial), and if you skip the four weeks, you do have to pay the full amount. However, to get the baby smooth skin I desire, it's well worth it. Not only that, I can always walk out there comfortably and practically skipping. Also, their space is really well set-up for relaxation. I find the open air cubicles to be nicely private, but still allow you to feel like other things are happening outside and people aren't just waiting for your screams of pain. I always get stuck in the fabric and the sliding door on my way out. The artwork is also quite interesting (especially the mishap with the piece in the room on the far right). I'm so glad to have found a place like this! If only they also cut hair rather than removed it exclusively, then I'd be set. read more

Sugaring beats waxing any day, for being less painful, you're less red, and less possibility for scarring, which is especially important for the face. This studio is truly one of the premier studios of not just sugaring, but all spas in general. The staff are really friendly, and they're all fantastic! I can't go back to waxing now! I have gone here a couple times for an extended bikini sugaring. I always saw a different person due to my schedule, but everyone was really friendly and kept me talking through probably one of the most awkward and painful experiences a well groomed girl has to go through. Some people say that sugaring is less painful than waxing. Well, I'm not so sure about that, but what I love is how sanitary it is! I can't help but get freaked out when I see the esto double dip the stick in the wax pot!! Blah!! With sugaring they pull out a sugar ball with a glove, and then only use that one ball for you :-) Also the pricing is reasonable, and certainly worth it! I generally don't write reviews, but seeing as though there are not that many responses from a male perspective I thought I really should this time. I decided to come here to get my butt crack sugared for the first time after calling a few other sugaring places that didn't cater to men in that region. The place was easy to find and having parking was great, although I did have to drive round the block a couple of times to find the lot. The store is very bight and exciting and the staff all seem to have a great attitude and were very friendly and welcoming. As a first time client I had to fill out some paperwork and then there were ready straight away to take me back. After leaving me to undress she came back in and got right down to work, putting me at ease as well as in the right position to bare all. To say that she was staring face on at my butt she kept a very cheery chatter up as she got to work. The process did hurt a little - what can you expect when you are having the hairs pulled out of your skin. I have been waxed before, although never in that area and I have to say that it was a lot more pleasant than the waxing. It didn't take long and with it just being sugar all it took was a little wipe with a baby wipe to be all cleaned up. No hard sell of aftercare products, nor was I forced to make my next appointment although it was offered. All in all it was a great experience, my boyfriend likes the look and I am sure I will be bake for more. read more

EXPENSIVE but it is effective - they recently raised their prices on the brazilian by $10. The Brazilian is now $75 and up, unless you book for maintenance within 4 weeks (but no hair will really have grown by then.) That's a steep increase! when I asked the girl about it, she said it was because my prior appointment was a maintenance one. Showing how little she knew; my last appointment was my very first one. The sugarists: I have been to only two. This told me that two people can be VERY different in their mastry of suggaring. One of them got a lot of the sugar stuff everywhere, her gloves kept sticking to me, and she made it quite painful (I think she just tries to pull too big of a patch out at once.) She was a bit unprofessional, I felt; but if you want to get in and out within a half an hour, I guess that gets it done. BLAIR was the complete opposite - very caring, and good at her job. I will book with Blair if I go back, because she made me feel completely at ease the entire time. But for now I am going to experiment with waxing, because this sugaring is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$. BEWARE of OVERSELLING: they will tell you that you need expensive exfoliating device and coconut oil. Do yourself a favor: buy coconut oil at the grocery store for 1/3 the price, and exfoliate with a shower scrubby that you keep clean - dilute bleach rinses will keep all the bacteria away. Don't be a sucker and spend all your cash on that stupid hand mitt. read more

I went here for the first time to get a full leg sugar in preparation for triathlon training season. Having never done this before I was nervous before I even called up to make an appointment. However, the staff on the phone did a great job of explaining what to expect and what they can do and really made me feel at ease. I was a little nervous still when I walked in the front door, but the staff made me feel right at home. Offered me a cup of tea while I was waiting for my appointment. I never felt out of place being a guy going in to get a sugar treatment. My sugarist did a fantastic job of explaining what she was doing and why. I was a little shy about the whole thing, but again they did a great job of making me feel at ease. Also, the pain is not nearly as bad as I expected going in. I've hurt more on a 50 mile bike ride than this did. So far so good on the hair removal, no strays - and it looks great. This is a fantastic establishment with awesome staff that do a great job. Can't recommend it enough! Free parking in Fremont is a total bonus too! (It is a little funky to find the parking, it's down behind the establishment off of a steep ramp below the building). However, they do a good job of explaining how to find it when you make your appointment. read more

*Updated Review- 05/15/2008 So I've been getting sugared here since the beginning of January and each time I go in I become more and more disappointed with The Sweet Spot. The wait times are ridiculous! The facial area I get sugared requires a ten minute appointment... only ten minutes people! Last time I went in and tried to book my next appointment it was going to take SIX weeks.... yes, SIX weeks... to get my next appointment (I usually get this area sugared about every 3-3.5 weeks). Mind you, I wasn't being picky and requiring a weekend or evening appointment either. I loved The Sweet Spot, but they lost my business. It's great that they are doing so well, but I'm afraid they are pushing customers elsewhere. I hadn't been waxed in quite a while and it seemed like a good day to get it done. So, I checked out Yelp and looked through the reviews for "hair removal" services. The listing for The Sweet Spot rose to the top and as I read the reviews and looked at their website I decided to give sugaring a try instead of waxing. It sounded kind of fun-- well, as fun as hair removal can be. I called up the salon and they were able to fit me in with a same day appointment. Yippy! I had a little bit of a hard time trying to find The Sweet Spot, as it is down a staircase and out of plain site when you're driving by. After I parked and got out of my car to search for it I saw the sign leading me down the staircase. The main waiting area/reception area is fairly small, but nicely decorated. The receptionist was very friendly, too. After waiting a few minutes the sugaring girl took me back to the treatment room and explained how sugaring works. Then, she proceeded to mold a big glob of sugar over the skin and pull it off. It certainly didn't feel good-- it felt like someone was ripping my hair out (duh!). And, from my previous waxing experiences it felt pretty similar. I don't think I'd say the pain was much less. But, the results were great and my skin was really smooth afterward. Overall, I really liked The Sweet Spot. Although it is out of the way compared to where I live, I was so impressed I'm sure I'll return in the future. read more

Very nice place! Warm, down to earth, yet totally fabulous staff! Also, the atmosphere is beautiful and smells great. The space is artsy, funky, hip and you feel chic and pampered when you are there! They use great quality products during the service and the sugaring itself, seems like a far superior service compared to waxing. I am giving four stars instead of five because, like others mentioned it is very difficult to book an appointment, and there is a fee automatically charged to you if you miss - Which is understandable, I know, but it's a fairly hefty one. Also, there is one receptionist who always comes off as snobby and cold (brunette with tan skin). Not sure what her deal is... I do, however, love my regular sugarist. She does a great job and is always sweet and helpful. Pretty much everyone else I've met there is very professional, helpful and offers great customer service, all around. They have carefully selected some wonderful products for purchase and are very knowledgeable about all the products they sell. This is definitely a place I will be returning to regularly. read more

Malia, my sugarist, was great! She was experienced and made me feel at ease the entire appointment. The staff here were all friendly. The store is clean and bright, with lots of goodies to peruse through while you wait for your appointment. Why oh why have I not tried sugaring before? Now that I've tried it, regular waxing will never do. I admit, I was pretty nervous before my appointment. I didn't know what to expect, in theory I knew what was going to happen... but no one really know until it actually happens. Blair was super professional (she could probably sense my fear like a raccoon caught in the middle of the freeway). She told me exactly what was going to happen and all of the little helpful pieces of info that go with it. Sugaring is just as fast a waxing, and way more precise. No more redness or sensitivity after its all done. It really is less painful than anything else. If you've waxed or epilated before this will be a piece of cake for you. One thing I found a little awkward was that the rooms were more like cubicles. The walls of the rooms don't reach up to the ceiling so you can hear conversations of people in the reception area, and I'm sure they could hear me and my sugarist talking. All in all, I really like the Sweet Spot. It also helps that they're open late most days so I can make appointments after work without rushing to get there before they close. read more
