Showed up too early, but the lobby let us know that at 7pm the password would be on the lobby desk.

We went to Outrider for Sunday brunch because the reviews claimed it was the most spectacular…read morerooftop spot and the best place for brunch. Honestly, I have no idea how it got those reviews. Maybe they're paid, I'm not sure, but based on my experience I would not go back. The biggest issue was the service. We arrived and were told to sit anywhere we wanted. After sitting down, we waited about 20 minutes and no one ever came to our table. No greeting, no water, nothing. Eventually I had to walk up to the bar and ask what the procedure was. Do we order at the bar? Do you have table service? No one could give a clear answer. They just kept saying, "If you want, you can order here." That's not the point. If I sit down at a restaurant, I expect someone to come to the table and explain how things work or take our order. If the system is that you order at the bar, just say that clearly so people know what to do. The drinks were also very mediocre. Nothing special at all. Honestly, they tasted like something you could throw together at home with soda, alcohol, and ice. The surprising part is that the food was actually phenomenal. The kitchen clearly knows what it's doing. The dishes were delicious and probably the best part of the entire experience. But great food alone isn't enough to make me return somewhere with poor service and forgettable drinks. My recommendation is don't waste your time on a Sunday brunch. There are plenty of other brunch spots with good food and good service.

Located inside the Canopy Hotel in Scottsdale, I didn't have trouble finding free parking right outside of the hotel (I wonder if the same holds true on a Friday or Saturday night). After parking, take the elevator all the way up to get to the rooftop. Ambiance (4/5): Pretty awesome. I love a good rooftop. Outrider has a good deal of comfortable seating which is always a plus in my book. It's an open air bar, so there's also some seating by the bar which is semi-covered. There's even a firepit of sorts, but only one. Would be cool if they had more. The best part though? The view from the rooftop. You can see the mountains in the background and old town Scottsdale. I imagine that the absolute best time to stop by is during a sunset. Service (4/5): Our waitress was friendly and pretty attentive throughout. She did a great job making us feel like we were right at home. Food (N/A): I had dinner prior so I can't comment on their food. Drinks (4/5): Outrider has a nice selection of craft cocktails. While I was intrigued, I stuck to beer. Not a huge selection by any means, but there are a decent number of craft brews, including a handful I had never tried. The beers are fairly priced. If you're looking for a nice rooftop, Outrider is a great choice.

I liked the look and vibes of the place and decided we needed to circle back through here before the night was over. After dinner we explored the Scottsdale nightlife and decide to end our night here. The vibe was completely different later in the night. This time we had to go through bouncers. The lounge itself is absolutely stunning. They have an indoor space that is beautifully decorated with lots of different seating options. They have an open air concept with one side open to the rooftop pool deck. The bartenders and staff were scantily clad which definitely had gentleman hanging at the bar too long. That meant long waits to get a drink. For a place that looks so upscale, I was disappointed in the drinks. Online they talk about a next level mixology experience and that was not our experience. We got cocktails served in plastic cups that cost just as much or even more than some high end cocktail bars I have been to. It's kind of what is expected in Scottsdale though. Overall, we had a good time. I just wouldn't go out of my way to come back here next time I am in town.

It is located on the second floor, just up the stairs from the lobby. It is dimly lit and filled with pictures/decor of rabbits (lives up to it's name). The bar area is nice and large and there are other tables and couch areas as well as the pool area. Service at the bar was not quick, instead quite the opposite where we had to flag down a bartender who was chatting with someone else who worked there for a while and was also occupied with his phone at other times. I also was quite surprised to see that cocktails were $20! I know it's the W but that is pretty pricey. Also note that this is considered the pool area so the drinks are served in plastic cups. Aside from that, I like the space and atmosphere and had a nice time sitting in one of the couch areas which I assume are the VIP areas during pool hours.

Love it! I started out with a cocktail - the Mega Viral! Once you try it, you will understand the name. One of the more innovative cocktails I have ever had... and I ended up having two! So delicious and an experience in itself!! We enjoyed some light bites as well - the Edamame Hummus and Shishito Peppers. Both were fantastic! I love that their menu points out which items are gluten-free... and our server even warned me that the plantain chips in the Edamame Hummus could have cross-contamination... so I very much appreciate that heads up! I opted to order them anyway and I am so glad I did - so good! And I experienced no gluten issues. Awesome! I'm already looking forward to a return trip! The chicken tenders were fire!!! What is lacking on this occasion was service. The server that we had was so unattentative. I have never been in a cocktail lounge in my life and had to beg for drinks. Our server would wait until every drinks was made for all of her tables before bringing out drinks. It was ridiculous. She was nice but seemed high. I ended up only having 2 drinks. We would have ordered more but they have 90min max seating and we didn't event get drinks for the first 30min. No exaggeration. Also one of my drinks I had to send back. My apple martini tasted like soap. It was like they did clean the glass after giving a soap bath. No bueno. So they need to get their service to match the vibe of a true cocktails lounge. Yes it is a 70s vibe but doesn't mean the lackadaisical style service. I would come back and try again. The music, the atmosphere and the food was good. They gotta get these cocktails together and service. We ended up walking to nearby competitors and that was money lost for DDG.

Since I was by myself, I was able to be seated at the bar. The vibe here is incredible! It's beautifully decorated and nice and cozy. Perfect for a date night. I must bring my husband back here at some point. As I said, I sat at the bar and Megan the bartender was outstanding! I ordered a drink called Agree to Disagree. I think that was the name. Anyway, it was delicious and because it was happy hour it was half off the regular price of $23. I ordered one oyster and it was fabulous. I only ordered one because I was meeting a group of friends at The Guest House in 30 minutes and I did not want to spoil my appetite. I can't wait to come back here so that I can enjoy the full experience with the band. It's a lovely place and I enjoyed it thoroughly.

We made our way down the stairs and the hostess was there ready to check us in. We didn't wait at all and got seated right away. Once seated it took a while for the server to come take our order. We ordered: 1 WILD STRAWBABY - Ocho Blanco Tequila, Bergamot, Strawberry, Pineapple, Lemon, Almond Milk $22 1 50 FIRST DATES - Bumbu Rum, Cascara, Brown Sugar Date Syrup, Coconut Milk, Cinnamon Sprinkle $22 1 BLUEBERRY MULE - Blueberry, Lime, Ginger Beer $13 The drinks didn't take too long and another bartender dropped them off. Water was never offered to us and was only given to us after we asked. All the other tables were given water once they were seated. Our drinks were good but we chose to just have one each and we left. The live music was great. The musician was playing the piano and kept it fun and upbeat. The inside is pretty cool and unique but service could've definitely been better though. *There's a $10 cover fee per person when there is live music*

Parking is a cinch in the complimentary lot they share with several other businesses. Ambiance (3/5): Hint hint. The Goose is located inside Crust Simply Italian. You can get in one of two ways. Either through the restaurant or from the outside. I went through the inside. Look at the pic I shared to help you find the right door. Once you get inside, it's a pretty small speakeasy. It's nice, but also doesn't stand out in any way. We sat at the bar. There are also some comfortable chairs and tables if that's more your vibe. Service (4/5): Friendly, attentive service throughout. They did upsell us on the food, but overall, solid. A customer got kicked out while we were there. We didn't quite hear what happened to lead to the situation, but either way, a bit of a weird situation. I imagine it's a rare occurrence. Food (4/5): The food comes from the Italian restaurant and they have a nice menu of appetizers, pizzas (or pizettes), and dessert. I wasn't terribly hungry so we split a fig and ricotta pizette. We added crispy prosciutto. And we had the gluten-free version. Normally, I wouldn't order gluten-free but I was with someone who's diet required it. While it obviously wasn't as good as regular dough, it exceeded my expectations. The prosciutto gave a nice crunch to the dish. Drinks (4/5): At a speakeasy, I'm expecting a creative cocktail list with an interesting blend of spirits and flavors. While The Goose has some standard cocktails, like a Oaxaca old fashioned, they also have a section of their menu that focuses on their creations (many of which have bird-themed names). I tried three of the menu and they were all quality, sophisticated cocktails. Exactly what I was hoping for! The Goose is owned by the same people as Ostrich Bar and Alchemy 48. While I haven't been to Alchemy, Ostrich is one of my favorite speakeasies in town. I like it better than Ostrich, partially because their menu is more extensive and it's a larger establishment, but nevertheless, The Goose is a quality speakeasy.
