Amazing venue to catch some live music. Our friend, Jeff Frost of Frosty and the Silver Tones, was having a Sunday afternoon/evening concert at Wasted Grain. Great gig but also a perfect setting for filming a demo reel to give out to potential buyers. We had to be there. Love how all of the windows in the place unfold or open to give the place some real atmosphere. Cool and breezy. The bartender was fast with our waters. They had no iced tea or root beer, etc. All alcohol - or water. We did order a great Meat Lovers Flatbread only $18 including tax. The band rocked it for 3 full sets and got the reel they wanted. My personal favorite part of Wasted Grain, is that it's a designated Michigan State University bar. As a fellow Spartan, it's fun to "Go Green" on the West Coast and in the best Old Town Scottsdale. Outside space between two buildings, the fourth one is a small upper level rooftop nightclub that opens at 9pm to 2am. Service 5/5 Our server was Stephanie, she made us happy, She was very friendly & attentive. There wonderful staff made our experience nice. Our (4-5) diet Cokes over the course of our visit and Nachos tab was $26.96 + our $20 Tip. Food 3/5 We ordered nachos to snack on, they were just ok. Glad we ate earlier at Dirk Bentley's so we weren't hungry. Our Tip was for generous service by Stephanie and in know way an endorsement of the food. Amy Winehouse experience was fantastic! Mia Carter did a great Job putting on her Amy Winehouse performance. Great vocals, beautiful woman who got everything right from hair to outfit, her moves and that Amy Voice! The accompanying singer did a solo signing Smoky Robinson and nail him too. Pro Tip Reserved Seating was pricy ($43 each) and they have a two drink minimum but the view and energy was great. You can sit at the bar and enjoy the music and there are VIP booths you can reserve for groups as well but we noticed they had restricted views of the stage which honestly is a shame. WOW!! What a fun, unique spot in old town Scottsdale. I'm visiting from out of state and I truly experienced such incredible hospitality from the staff here. Special shout out to Joseph, Sam, and Barret!! Y'all are the best & the reasons I'll be coming back for plenty more visits! This was very clearly the hottest bar/club in old town on a Saturday night. The line was down the block, the bartenders were quick and so nice, and the live music was a hit! Bottle service here is beyond what I've ever seen. There was a VIP booth with food catered and very spacious so you have your own area to dance without the hassle of a crowd. 10/10 recommend! Also, this is a 49er bar. I went here with a friend and it was a blast! There's an indoor stage with performers so it's like a concert as well. The outside area is nice and the upstairs EDM area is alright. The upstairs bar could use some more seating. The outdoor part was a little cramped since there was a lot of people but there were couches to sit down at. I was near the stage and they were playing amazing music. I wouldn't advise getting mixed drinks though. It was 17$ for a vodka redbull which I found rather pricey for a mixed drink that used Tito's. Most expensive vodka redbull before wasted grain was 12 dollars. The people who work there are nice. The only thing is that I wish there was more seating areas. But wandering into Wasted Grain during a thoughtfully planned work event, my coastal elitism swiftly dissolved. This expansive bar hosted our motley crew of nearly 100 with room to spare for balloon twisters, a "graffiti art wall" , and a fun live band fueling the festivities. Far eclipsing expectations for Phoenix nightspots, Wasted Grain knocked this party out the park through thoughtful, creative planning by our company. I'd forget about the lukewarm food though and stick with the drinks. When our group later peeled off to go bar-hopping, lookinh for more excitement, all we found were cookie-cutter college bars. After a few bars we ended up circling back to Wasted Grain and stayed until closing time. Wasted Grain was a refreshing change of pace from New York's cramped bars, and I especially appreciated the open air format and warm Arizona air. read more

We come to the Wasted Grain often to watch the San Francisco 49rs. It is a fun place. The one and only issue is that they have the AC on full blast with the fans blowing like a wind storm through the building. It is winter and not hot out. You need to wear a parka inside so as not to freeze. We had to go outside where, believe it or not it was warmer to enjoy the rest of the game. If they would at least turn the fans down from high to low that would be a big improvement. We will still go there to watch the 49rs but will bring a heavy coat just in case they do not address the problem. read more

I came for a Sangria tasting festival that was hosted here and I will definitely be back! There is a diverse crowd, in terms of ages and types of people, and everyone always seems to get along and be respectful. There are chairs and couches and spaces both indoor and outdoor to relax and kick back on. Delicious drinks: The drinks are solid, prepared quickly and efficiently, and the food is also on point. I had some tasty egg rolls and a pretzel the last time that I was here, and both were very good. Friendly servers: The servers are responsive, polite, friendly and speedy. I was having a great night until I was tapped on the shoulder and asked to leave, funny enough I was the sober designated driver for our group. I guess I understand the money grab with all the out of towners and it being a bar, they want people buying drinks and I was more worried about my groups safety. as a local I won't be returning and I can comfortably say they have some of the worse service and security out of all the bars in old town. ps. every few hours throughout the night drinks prices get raised so if you want to spend $180 for 4 drinks an 3 shots this is the place for you! read more

I attended a private event, in which they had three drinks posted at the bar as specials (without any pricing displayed). I ordered 1 Paloma and 3 Mules. Upon closing out my tab, I confronted the bartender that this clearly wasn't my order, because of the extra charges on the mules: at $4 each drink? When I ordered, she asked me if I wanted vodka instead of the tequila that was part of the "special drink" that night, and I said sure. Never was informed there would be an up charge. Why would a bartender ask to change the type of liquor in the pre planned drink specials, then charge for it, is really weird. Scammer style. Just saying. Watch out when u go here and make sure you get prices disclosed before ordering. It's a trendy spot, really loud, chic, club atmosphere. We were immediately asked if we wanted a free table and a bottle. We got our table right away and partook in the bottle. Then the waitress asked to put our card on file just in case we ordered anything else. Unfortunately, I agreed. When we were ready to leave, I asked for my card back and she brought it to me with a $400 charge on it for "the bottle". There is no way that it was a $400 bottle. There is no way that I would have ever bought a $400 bottle. There is no way that I was ever told that it was not free. I won't be going back and neither will my friends. read more

Cancer Survivor kicked out because of side effect. My son was dancing normal with his siblings and they warned him and then kicked him out. They said his eyes were blinking rapidly and looked like he was drunk. It was due to side effects of all the chemo, radiation and a brain surgery he had to fight brain cancer. I told the bouncer and manager that but they made us look like fools anyway and literally dragged him out by his arm. They would not listen to why! But all in all, the venue was great for its large size, the drinks were fine, and employees were friendly. Live music typically starts around 10 on weekends and won't be too busy before that. Two private party areas can be raucous. When I visited a fraternity was hosting a party. The patrons at Wasted Grain seemed different than folks you'll find at some of the other nearby bars/clubs. The security told us to "keep our friend awake" when he's just Asian and naturally has eyes that may appear closed, he was not falling asleep AT ALL or whatever they were insinuating. And we got kicked out for drinking too much, and as the sober DD of the group, I disagree that we had too much to drink.
