Good tacos, near home. Fast moving line with cheerful, efficient employees. Quesadillas were preferred over the street tacos. A couple places near top this in my opinion El Patrons (Eldridge) & Cinco de Mayo (Louetta) but Taco King has a following and is worth trying.

5/5 Stars -- Tacos That Truly Hit the Spot! The Taco King in Cypress is hands down one of the best taco trucks I've ever been to! Everything was incredible--from the first bite to the last squeeze of lime. We tried several tacos including their al pastor and carne asada, and every single one was . The tortillas were lightly crisped with just the right amount of oil, the meat was flavorful and juicy, and the toppings were fresh--chopped onions, cilantro, and perfectly grilled onions on one. The lime wedges added the perfect zing. Plus, the creamy green sauce on the side? Game changer. The staff is super friendly and the service is quick. Whether you're dining at the table or taking them to-go, the quality is always on point. If you're in Cypress and craving authentic street tacos, don't sleep on The Taco King. The food, the menu, the yumminess! Go here and have a happy belly! Remember, cash only and not there on Sundays or Mondays. My previous review disappeared. Dang. This food truck is at the gas station parking lot Tuesday through Saturday! Cash only! Go get your street size tacos! They're delicious. It's not corn tortillas or flour tortillas but they're sufficient! And get yourself an aguas frescas! My favorite is Horchata but they have Tamarindo and another one as well. They're all good! I love the tacos! They're tasty. I always get fajita but they have other meat choices too. Check out the menu, go hungry! Food that won't break the bank :D

Their tacos NEVER make it long enough for me to snap a picture. We absolutely devoured these! The other thing we got that didn't make it was their quesadilla. They are the BEST tacos in cypress! The guys are super friendly and quick.

I purchased some lower carb corn tortillas and really wanted to enjoy them right. I've seen this truck out for years and didn't want to venture too far out so I decided to buy some tacos from this stand and swap out the tortillas. Unfortunately my fav is barbacoa which they do not serve. REAL TEARS!!! I settled on the combined meat pork & beef specialty and beef solo. Bit of a language barrier but we worked through it and the meat on my tacos blessed my tongue with the low carb tacos. So good! Just wish I had sauce to roll my tortillas around in first. Think the tacos and onions/cilantro were a buck a piece.....definitely worth ordering 5/6!

Was craving some tacos one night and I remembered I had saved this taco joint due to the amount of 5 star reviews. I was very excited to try, especially knowing there's usually a line to wait on , cash only, and a lot of hype...it's got to be good right? Crickets. I was so disappointed. Not sure why/how everyone is raving about these tacos, sure it's only $1 but sometimes cheap does not warrant a 5* review. We ordered pastor and fajita...tiny tacos and lack flavor and juiciness that I've previously experienced at other similar taco joints. The line was moving fast, no complaints about the line, no complaints about the workers- they were very friendly. Only reason why I'm giving it a 3* Just disappointed that it did not live up to expected hype.

The best buck ever spent . Can't go wrong with street tacos from The Taco King. My preference is the beef tacos; however, the pork meat is good too. I was lucky enough to get a few people in front of me; usually there's a huge line. read more

This is the best taco that I have ever had in my entire life. I'm even more impressed that the corn tortillas complemented the flavors. I ordered 12 chicken, beef, and pork tacos with each one just a dollar. My feelings are the same about the quesadillas as well. I don't know any other restaurant that has ever crafted one so well. They are FULL of meat and fillings. They cost $5. I drive 30 minutes north just to eat here. They are quick as well. Please make the trip. You will not be disappointed. read more

Nothing special....there are plenty of taco trucks in the surrounding Houston area that are equally as good if not better. I did get a fajita quesadilla too and half the quesadilla had no cheese and small amount of meat. They weren't busy at all, so it wasn't like they were trying to push orders out. read more

Dude yes! Finally another great taco spot in Cypress!! Now mind you, these are street style tacos so they're small but they're $1!! But lemme tell you.. MAN DO THEY KNOW HOW TO COOK!! I've ate here a couple times and it was good around 6pm . I made a mistake and went at around 9pm and I was served food that had been sitting and was not good at all . The other times was great . This inconsistency made me change my mind about going again . read more

Tacos and quesadillas are delicious, made right in front of you, and served hot. On occasion, their pork and fajita meat has been too salty. That's my only complaint. Season doesn't have to mean overly salty. I wish the management would cut back a little on that bc it ruins the flavor when too salty. Prices are excellent and the service is fast, considering it's all made to order. read more

If my cholesterol could handle eating here everyday I would. The pineapple and pastor quesadillas/tacos are TOP NOTCH and at a price of $1... undefeated. Yes there is always a line but that's how you know it's good! If you like street tacos you HAVE to try this place out. Just beware that eating here will ruin all other tacos for you by increasing your standard of taste. read more

OH My God! In a world where a dollar can barely buy a candy bar, at this taco truck a dollar can buy you a slice of heaven... aka a taco. The service was fast, the food was amazing and the only thing that could have made this better was if they took credit cards. Trust me, it's worth going to the ATM and a great meal for the entire family. If you're in the area, make a trip and get some heaven for a dollar. read more

I love this place, it's just good , cheap street food. Yes I will wait in line. They don't serve chicken so the people who have these guys a bad review don't know what they've talking about. It's called trompo, and fajita that's it. Trompo is pork cooked a certain way and it looks darker. Great for a lazy night !!! read more

My husband and I have been coming to this place for years and tonight will be our last time ever. If I could give it 0 stars just to write a review I would. We waited in line for 20 minutes (as usual) and ordered 10 tacos and 3 quesadillas. Somehow they charged us 35$???!!! To be nice I decided not to argue and just give them the cash. When we got home to open up our plates of food all of the quesadillas are basically nothing but burnt cheese and the tacos were just a hodgepodge of meat throw on a plate with grilled onions. Ruined our dinner and I am so disgusted with this meal. This place has gone down hill! read more

I can't believe how truly amazing these tacos were. The meat was seasoned to perfection, and the two salsas I had were the perfect pairing. The only thing I wasn't a big fan of was the horchata as it wasn't as sweet as I've had it previously before from other places. It wasn't bad at all, but it just took a few sips to get used to it, and probably not a bad thing as too much sugar of course can be a bad thing. Anyways getting the food was quick, and the portions were perfect for both my boyfriend, and I. We will be returning for some more in the near future. I don't know what was better the quesadillas, or the tacos. I guess we'll just order both again to be on the safe side. ‍ read more

The menu was simple but gave diners many different ways to customize their food - that was a big deal to us. The chips and chicharron were delightful with their amazing bottles of superb salsas! My wife went with the asada (steak) and I couldn't decide so I asked Ashley to bring me ALL six of the selections from the special tacos section and that's what she did with a giggle saying no one has ordered all them, so they even took a photo of that massive plate of tacos and all the tasty sides! I felt like I hit the taco lottery when the platter came out and because the service was just as amazing and outstanding as the food. I had a wonderful time trying each one of the expertly crafted tacos and was so impressed with each and every bite. The prices are fair & reasonable and that's honestly a bonus since it's hard to find value for your hard earned money these days. Since it was my first time here, I ended up ordering 1 chorizo and 1 asada taco, churros, limon aguas, and my friend got the asada taco as well and a hortchata! Since it was super busy (especially on saturday night) it was about a 30 minute wait foe our food but it was well worth it! They hand out free chicharrones and they were super crunchy and a nice snack while we waited for our food. The limon aguas was super refreshing especially in the summer heat and the horchata was really good! We sat at the counter top that overlooks the kitchen. I love that the open kitchen concept so you can see them making your food right in front of you! Everything smelled so good so I was excited for my food. I love that they give radishes, cucumbers, and plenty of limes on the side. I definitely love all of the toppings and the more the better! I tried all of the salsas and the salsa de chile de arbol was by far my favorite! super spicy but had so much flavor. The chorizo was good but a little dry for my liking. I did just want to try it so I can try more than one flavor but I think I would get it again as a breakfast taco with egg instead. The asada was my favorite of the two so much flavor and plenty of meat! I was content with these 2 tacos but I could have definitely eaten more if we didn't order churros as well! The churros came with classic condensed milk and dulce de leche which is just carmelized condensed milk. The churros were crunchy and warm on the outside and had a chewy texture like mochi on the inside! Super yummy and not too sweet! I liked both sauces and would definitely get this again. Overall, I had a great experience and I will be craving the tacos until the next time I can come back! I can't wait to try a lot of their other menu items as well. Definitely recommend!

I get picky about my food getting soggy or a little too wet (either from lettuce or tomato) but the bread still had bite to it and everything altogether was tasty. Then I ordered fajita tacos (had a huge craving for them all week). And they had onion, cilantro, and limes included to drizzle and it was so good. I didn't even remember to take a picture I just gobbled it all up. The food was DELICIOUS! And their bean soup was so good. I don't usually order bean soup because I enjoy my refried beans but I was beyond surprised that they were so tasty. I ate it all up and drank the broth too! I'd wanted to try La Cocina for a while for that reason and those plans finally came to fruition. You walk up to a counter that has all the ingredients for taco making right in front of you. The guy asks you how many you are going to want, and if you want flour or corn, so he can let them know in the back to make your tortillas fresh. About 2 minutes later, out came our tortillas. I ordered 3: one with eggs and bacon, one with some kind of egg and sausage combo and one non-breakfast taco with fajita meat. The fajita taco was just okay, but the breakfast tacos had me thinking about them for hours after the fact. They aren't very big, so if you're a growing boy like me, I'd aim for 4-5 of them. The guy behind the counter tried to guide us into his suggestion of 2 each, but I jumped in and said make it 3 for me. If I could go back in time, I would have done 4 and made them all the breakfast variety. Both breakfast tacos were straight bangers from another dimension. All the sauces were great and none were too spicy. I might have to return to this place sooner rather than later because I really did think about it the rest of the day. I love you, La Cocina.

Unfortunately, the service didn't match the quality of the food. It felt like we were being rushed, which was frustrating considering we made a reservation and waited just like everyone else. Our server's demeanor came across as rude at times, although it's possible she may have been new. For example, when she asked if we were ready to order, we began listing our items, but she abruptly told us to hold on because she wasn't ready. Later, when I finished my tea, she informed me that refills would cost extra, which I didn't mind paying for, but the way it was communicated felt unnecessarily harsh. To add to that, when I tried to pay with Apple Pay, her card reader wasn't working properly, and instead of resolving it at the table, she asked me to get up and pay at the front register. Overall, the food was excellent, but the service and communication could use improvement. A more welcoming and patient approach would make a big difference in the overall experience.
