I finally took some time to visit The Taco Project after having learned about it for some time. I purchased the shrimp and salmon bowls and both were a lovely and colorful site to see. At first I questioned the price until I saw the tacos which are the biggest I've ever seen. Price justified. The Taco Project is like a better version of Chipotle, imo. I love the fact that they offer seafood options! The shrimp was perfectly fried in what seems like a delicious tempura batter. It was amazing under the queso fresco and sour cream. Chef's kiss . Though it was flavorful, I do think that the entree needed a bit of salt. They offer sustainable packaging for take out which is always nice to see. I saw quite a few people dining in and I'll have to do so next time. The takeout experience was very pleasant after having ordered online. There was practically no wait time. I will be back to try the plantains, tacos, burritos and quesadilla! read more

This place is so cute! It really gives you the feel of a taco spot in California or near a beach. It's decorated so cute and while it's small, there's seating indoor and outdoors. I had the shrimp burrito and when I looked at it, it looked small. But it was really filling! My fiancé had the shrimp burrito bowl and the bowl was made from a tortilla! So cool. We also got a side of corn and the fries which come with 3 different sauces! They have a happy hour too so check that out! read more

The Taco Project has definitely grown on me since the last time I have come. The cajun salmon taco were delicious. I wish it was a bigger portion but still hit the spot. I also tried the mexican street corn and it came on the cob. It is a little tough to eat but when corn is served on the cob it has more flavor. The food does need a touch of hot sauce to give it a little pop but other than that the tacos are good. My takeout order also came out quick and hot. The vibe in here is fun too with a clean aestethic. The branding is also spot on with a cool mural on the wall. Definitely give this place a shot. read more

The worst tacos I have ever eaten! My girlfriend and I decided to go there on a beautiful Friday afternoon after another girlfriend recommended the place. We placed our orders and waited outside. The wait wasn't too long and since it was nice out we decided to eat our food at one of the tables outside of the restaurant so our food would be hot. I ordered the fish taco and the shrimp taco, my girlfriend ordered the shrimp taco and the chicken taco. You get two tacos per serving and we were starving and looking forward to them. First of all the tacos were cold, the fish and the shrimps were fried way too hard, there was very little sauce on it and the tacos were hella dry. We both felt the same way - they were horrible. What was good, however, was the Sangria. We had two cups each and we thought they were delicious. Considering the price ($35 for two tacos and two sangrias), I will NOT be going back for food. Food = 5/5. Food was fresh and delish! I went with my best friend- we shared a pork belly taco order and loaded nachos. Everything was so good! Ambiance = 4/5 crowd was in and out. It's definitely a place for a quick bit. Not a sit down meal to chat and socialize m. Service = 2/5 unfortunately, the girl that took care of us had no interest in helping us with the menu. I typicallly give people the benefit of the doubt and spark you a light conversation- only because sometimes it could mean they're just having an off day. NOPE, she just la led customer service. I observed her with her coworkers, she was playful and laughing. But, when it came to answering our questions she was a bit rude and short , and not accommodating at all! We arrived shortly before they closed and they still took care of us. We got steak tacos and they were amazing. From the juicy tortilla to the tender steak. I must say I will come back. However, the only downside is it's pretty expensive for tacos. We paid $23 for four tacos. read more

I have both taken out and dined in at this location multiple times in the last few years. Although I was never really blown away, I've always had a good experience and left satisfied. Most recently, I dined in, had a steak burrito bowl, steak tacos, and the corn. The burrito bowl was great. Good portion of steak and good ratio of beans. The steak tacos were very tasty! The corn was okay, I probably wouldn't get it again. What I did notice, was that the staff gave preference to dine in orders over takeout orders.... Smart! We'll continue to come back! read more

First off, wow! As soon as you walk in you can tell just by the delicious smell that these guys cook with love. Ordered the classic beef tacos and they were absolutely amazing! Can only imagine what the rest of the menu tastes like and I can't wait to find out! Definitely the top pick for a taco in Yonkers! This is an update. Still terrific. Taco project is wonderful. I love their tacos. The short rib tacos are delicious. Get short rib on burrito bowl. Wonderful flavor, no fat, gristle or nasties. The best fall apart short rib you will eat. No they do not do double tortilla. Yes, it's traditional. Two are under one taco. When I see that, I usually end up separating the fillings so two become four, if I feel like it. Or one of them usually gets tossed. I just don't need four tortillas whether they are corn or flour, nor should I have them, honestly. This is such an expected preparation in a traditional taqueria that these folks have made a conscious decision not to DOBLE. They must have their reasons. Maybe they feel it's overkill. Maybe they have seen too many people toss em because the taco novice will look at the two and say, huh? What is This? and they feel its wasteful to see people throw out food when so many do not have. Whatever. Let's move past it and just know the fillings are wonderful, abundant and better than most out there, which have been dry, flavorless, or not fresh. The churros are great. Fresh. Huge. One suggestion? Offer sweetened condensed milk as a choice of dip. Mm. Now you can add toppings to your stuff to gringo it up, like cheddar cheese. Traditionally these things are not on tacos. So now you can add your favorite additions for a small surcharge. The lime squeeze on the short rib is heaven. My favorite. Thank you Taco Project! read more

On a rainy day, made a spontaneous trip to this taco joint after a doctor's appointment. I was actually quite impressed with the cute decor and even more so with the food. The vibe is very low-key and the service is friendly and helpful. I ordered their special, the birria quesadilla, two for one tacos (steak and pulled pork) and coconut tres leches cake. Everything was very flavorful and came out quickly. I would take off one star just for the fact that the tables were a bit dirty when I arrived and it's a bit pricy for tacos/quesadillas but overall a solid pick for Mexican fare if you're ever in the area. read more

It's strange. I used to go to the tarrytown taco project because I was always in the area for business. Always enjoyed it! When they started opening BRONXVILLE and Yonkers for some reason they completely feel off for me. I believe it's same menus and for some reason it just wouldn't hit the spot. If you're in the area and need some tacos yes feel free to go! But to me, no longer a destination place to head out of the way for! Sorry guys read more

Phenomenal. Absolutely love this Taco project. It has never disappointed. There's other taco project locations also but this one is always my favorite. The taste, the space, the atmosphere, the outdoor seating and especially the service. Always 100% a great experience. If you ever need a quick meal or a full meal, this is your place to go. Even the cocktails are . 10/10 I recommend and always take people here. Not too pricey to break your bank. 2 orders of tacos, 1 order of corn off the Cobb, 1 order of guac and chips, 1 happy hour sangria and 1 happy hour marg came out to ~ $45. Worth It !!! read more

Update: Stopped by again today. I was actually greeted this time and was able to order. The cashier was very nice and the food was prepared incredibly fast. The steak tacos, I would say, were ok. They didn't have too much flavor and were a little lacking. I'm not a fan of the sauce being put directly onto the tortilla, instead of over the meat, because it tears right through the tortilla and the tacos became a mess to eat. Maybe I'm spoiled from living in Texas, but for the price, I'd honestly rather go to Chipotle. Nice, little place though. read more

First off, these are definitely bigger tacos than what we are used to a la Bar Taco here in CT and the price is actually a bit less expensive here as well. Getting that out of the way, we have many friends in the area that told us the food was solid and so stopped in for a snack before a marathon volunteer event. Best. Idea. Ever. I loved, loved, loved my pork belly tacos and I am one those gringas that makes the ground beef tacos at home and slathers them in cheese, sour cream and guac. Eating them the way God intended was definitely refreshing to say the least - that pineapple is a perfect pairing with the pork. Wasn't such a fan of the hub's braised short rib - I personally thought it lacked flavor but he loved them so that's all that matters. At my final board meeting for the year we had it catered by Taco Project and I got to try the shrimp tacos and churros - 2 thumbs up on them both. Please open a location in South Norwalk - we need tacos!!!! read more

Very bad place, we both had horrible stomach pain after eating here and we ate different things. Guacamole and chips were so bad, like they got them from Walmart. Guacamole was not fresh at all. Very disappointing. My salad was below average in taste and chicken was very chewy and cocked in a weird way. I definitely not recommending this place. read more

This place is a disappointment it's run by kids who make you feel like your putting them out by ordering food . inconsistent and pricey. I have been here twice and we pay top dollar for very little food. My son and I always leave hungry last time I spent 80 dollars and we came home and ate!! Pleantyof other great Mexican places close by .. Crestwood or scarsdale !! I would pass!! read more

I'm a big guy so I typically eat 2-3 entrees when I eat out. So when I ordered from here that was naturally my approach. Man was I shocked. As I'm ordering I'm thinking "wow all this money for Mexican food". Well, the portions are BIG. I got double meat on the Quesadilla and Burrito and 3 tacos and my food weighed over 4lbs. Time to write another review!! This review might be bias, cuz I'm coming from Cali, where you find the best Mexican food. I ordered 2 tacos for $9, not even hand made tortillas, for me a bit too expensive. I was expecting a world of flavor and I was left with a huge disappointment. I asked one of the servers for "Salsa" he was like "excuse me" and I was like really, you don't know what salsa is? I also asked the person taking our ordered if they had "tacos al pastor" and he was like, what's that!!! That for me was an enormous red flag. I was left with N empty wallet (hypothetically speaking) hungry stomach and wanting more from a place that promise it. No horchata... really come on!! Food was ok!! But for the price I expected a bit more. I don't think I'll be hitting this spot any time soon. read more

I am updating my review of this place from two stars to four stars. Let me explain why... over the years they have added items to the menu that really have made a big difference. The prices haven't really gone up that much which they went from being a really expensive overpriced place. So now being fairly priced along with all the other spots in the neighborhood, which was my biggest gripe in the past.
