The ambiance keeps elevating. Tonight, my son and I noticed a huge picture of a pick up truck full of green plantains. It was huge but beautiful. The lighting is just right. As far as the service, they are all friendly and attentive. We ordered cheeseburger and bacon egg with cheese empanada tacos and the chicharrón de pollo with Moro . The empanada tacos are split down the middle and stuffed with fried cheese, sweet plantain and lettuce topped with special sauces: green and pink. But the BEC one comes with a special sauce that sweet. The highlight of the chicharrón plate is the salad. The dressing is so good and simple. I love it! There's notes of lime and vinegar. It only comes with the plates. Oh, I also tasted the cheeseburger empanada. The thang was filled to the rim and fried to perfection! I also had the new dessert. And I loved it. It was served cold with layers of vanilla cake, cool whip, thinly sliced strawberries and apples. It was fresh and light served in a perfect amount. Oh, there was also a bit of jam in there. I visited on a late Saturday afternoon and almost turned right back around due to the initial smell, which is reminiscent of a damp mop or clothing that you didn't dry completely, but you put them in the drawer anyway! The lackluster ambiance was also nearly a dealbreaker! Also, the restrooms also clearly needed more attention, a lil dirty and lil smelly. However, I decided to take a chance, and I'm glad I did. The food was surprisingly impressive. My partner loved the chicharrón de pollo with tostones and the chicken empanada taco. I opted for the baked chicken with rice and beans and the pernil empanada taco, both of which were delicious. The empanada tacos were easily the highlight of the meal. We paired everything with passion fruit margaritas that hit the spot. Despite the environment, the service was excellent, our server was attentive and very helpful. Visiting Cross County Mall and to my surprise my favorite food truck was there. I honestly haven't had this since last year. Had to order our usual 4 pernil tacos, tostones extra sauce with 2 chinos. I found this place via social media, so their marketing strategies are working to engage their customers. I decided to drive and order take out. The menu is simple which minimizes feeling overwhelmed when deciding what to order. The location is easy to find, however, parking is not. I recommend taking time to search for parking if you drive. Spicy Chicken Empanada Taco - I could taste every ingredient and I'm sad I didn't order another one. Chicharron De Pollo and Tostones - very good flavor! Everything in my previous review still stands, but I'm super excited to discover that El Patio Truck has upgraded to an actual storefront location on Gramatan Avenue, just a block from the alleyway their original truck was parked. They're currently in a soft opening phase, only doing takeout, but they've got a great big dining room and bar in their new spot, and I can't wait to see how it turns out. Everybody here is so nice, and the food had quickly become my favorite "fast food" meal in Mount Vernon... so I really wish them the best! read more

Found this place because of Tiktok and decided to head there the day after we saw the video because it's like 3 blocks away from my home and I had never even heard about it. Loved the set up, we were sad we saw this in the cold and not a few months before because the ambiance and the patio itself were pretty awesome. Hopefully they'll be there next summer so that we can actually eat in the patio. Loved having this Dominican food truck near us. Food was excellent, just like our delicious Dominican food back in our homeland. The chicken was extremely flavorful, very tender and very very juicy to be fried, it was perfect. The rice (moro) was delicious, the *empanada tacos* were above and beyond!!!! The portions are pretty big, we ordered a bunch of food thinking it wasn't gonna be enough, and ended having lunch and dinner out of El Patio food. The variety of plates and combinations was great as well. We will DEFINITELY be back when we crave some Dominican fried chicken. Don't be afraid of the line!!!! It's worth it, specially if you haven't had Dominican food. I would encourage people to try the moro and the tostones, if they have never had them!! Happened to come this place on social media and decided to try it out. It is a good truck but they are parked between 2 businesses and they have an outside seating area (a patio). Menu is basic but they have really good things. Decided to try their chicharrón the pollo with tostones and another Oder with sweet plantains. Omg this was so good. The tostones were really well seasoned and the chicken was so crispy and fresh. Also ordered a cheese empanada and a pernil empanada. And to drink ordered the passion fruit juice. Parking is not easy so plan on bringing someone with you to run in. My son brought home a box of empanada tacos well it was love at first bite. My favorite is the pork taco and it's been my go to. The food is made to order and is not a fast food establishment so be patience if you walk in and order. I order call in my order and it's ready when I get there. You can also dine in. Apologies first off for not taking pictures- I live in area so when eating at home didnt take into account that 1. I was going to write a review and 2. that I'd be as disappointed as I was. First off I want to see that I live close to the brick and mortar location. And I got home and literally all of my food was cold. I got the empanada, taco empanada and chicharron de pollo with moro (rice and beans). I want to say this again- I live close and by the time I got home my food was cold. The spicy chicken empanada was cool. Not very spicy, but it clearly wasn't hot. It wasn't fried fresh and definitely wasn't being kept in area that kept it hot. The chicharron looked old and wasnt hot. It was also sooooo salty. You could barely taste any of the unique Dominican flavors. The sazon, the adobo, anything- All you could taste was salt- HIGH level salt. Highly concentrated salt. The rice was also borderline mushy. Maybe it was short grain rice? It didnt give the feeling of a professional level chef making it. Lastly the taco was solid- Also just room temp cold basically. I had this with pernil. The pernil tasted solid, the maduro and fried cheese worked well with the taco- but they really have to work on getting the food hotter. I ordered from this restaurant 3 times just to make sure I could create a comprehensive review. I ordered the same thing all three times which was the chicharron de pollo, empanada taco and the passion fruit juice. The fried chicken was very flavorful along with the moro (rice).The empanada taco was a hit or miss for me depending on when I ordered.The passion fruit juice was delicious but It was very concentrated. You will definitely need to cut it with water or seltzer. I will state that they do have a place for you to eat your meal there which I would recommended simply because the vessel that you order the chicken does not have anywhere to vent the steam which depending on you distance from the shop will leave to a less then crunchy chicken. I would recommend trying to find different takeout containers for your chicken. The empanada depending on when ordered the meat can be a bit dry and taste as if the empanadas were made and then frozen. I will say however that the first time time I had the empanada from this location was utterly perfect. The two other times after that were not so good. The passion fruit juice is delicious however some may water to cut it as I stated earlier. The staff was very friendly and efficient. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for anyone who was looking for good food to dine in. Please rectify your delivery containers. read more

The ambiance is cute because is small, but surrounded by furniture that is uncomfortable and that others that look like trash. But the food is beyond awesome. I don't like eating chicken fingers or chunks because they are always too dry but this chicharrón was so juicy and flavorful! Where do I start !?? I ordered a bit of everything. Started off with the tostones. Crispy, crunchy, salty along with that green sauce, YUM! Next up was the chop cheese empanada taco. Meat was juicy and seasoned well with plenty of lettuce and their yummy ketchup Mayo and amazing green sauce. Green sauce has a nice kick to it but the flavor was very tasty and fresh. Also had a spicy chicken empanada which turned out to be more mild but equally delicious with a great amount of chicken. Also had a chinola juice to top off my meal and it was divine, sweet but not a marmalade and no tarty taste like some places have it. Would definitely come back here. Wish they had some heated lamps for that gorgeous outdoor space in the back. Would most definitely try this place again. Didn't get a chance to get a pic of the food because everyone demolished their plates lol. Prices were reasonable for the amount of food given. Disappointing. Ordered online before my drive home from work, and order said it would be ready by 3:55, which was exactly when I was set to arrive from my commute. However, I received a text soon after saying it was ready...literally TWENTY minutes early, so when I picked it up and tried it in the car, the fried chicken and pernil empanada were predictably room temperature. Furthermore, some pieces of chicken were just dry. O.M.G. that is exactly what I said when I took a bite out of my empanada taco from El Patio Truck. Today I was photographing an event and the truck was there providing food for the event. I was not able to eat my empanada then because I was busy working. I asked for it to be bagged up for me, and TWO HOURS LATER was I finally able to get to my food. It was delicious!! I can only imagine how even more fantastic it would have been had I eaten it right after it was prepared. I am a Latina, and I can say they absolutely know what they are doing! The food here is really good!!!! I got the chicharron de pollo and the flavor is 100% on point, takes me back to the chicken spot I would frequent as a kid. We never get good "trendy" food in Westchester so when I heard "Food Truck," and "Mount Vernon," on a TikTok and saw it was close by me, I was all in. The food did not disappoint! I always go for the cheeseburger and shrimp empanada tacos but I've also ordered their chicken chicharron, moro rice, and some of their juices. Everything, down to the sauces is delicious. Someone on here complained about the passion fruit being concentrated but I disagree, I think it is just very flavorful; sweet and tart as it should be! If it IS too flavorful for you, even better, you can water it down and get more juice for your money! Definitely one of my go-to spots for quick and good eats.a read more

This is one of the best things I've ever eaten. The empanadas as the taco shells are INSANELY GOOD. We've tried one of each type of taco and all of them were soooo amazing, just with the toppings and the empanada shells alone, they are enough to make this one of the best tacos you've ever eaten and add in the meat/cheese and you have one of the best combinations you've ever seen. What a diamond in the rough. This place has everything you would like in a restaurant. Creative and enticing menu, incredibly friendly service, cute little seating area. The food was plentiful and flavorful. I went with the family and we all were very pleased. I called a few hours later to pickup some more and sadly they were closing due to being sold out. Caught them at 9A Food Truck Park. Pernil rice and beans was excellent, empanadas are good but sadly they forgot to provide the chin chin sauce. Fried pork belly was very good but a little too fatty for my taste. Lost a star because they take over 45 minutes to get the food ready. Seemed too long for a food truck with freezing temperatures outside. Maybe calling in your order ahead is a good idea. read more
