The property is located out in Leander and is pretty rustic- the park is all dirt with lots of seating scattered throughout for humans (a fun vibe with mismatched chairs and tables of all styles and heights) and cute playground furniture for the doggos to run and jump on. There is plenty of tree shade as well, and water bowls set out for the pups. You check in at the bar and then can order drinks directly from a window in the dog park so you don't have to leave the fenced in park, which is nice. This dog park is super casual- no food served here, or cocktails. Just a nice straightforward (and reasonably priced) beer and wine menu. But really, what else do you need? Just some dogs, music (they had music playing) and a cold beer that comes with a cute coozie. The staff was so nice and really good with the dogs- they were there managing all the interactions and ensuring that nothing got tense. I really appreciated that. They do have doggie ice cream that you can purchase and have your dog eat outside of the park (no food allowed inside, makes a ton of sense). This place may not have jumbo screens and margaritas like some other dog parks- but that's fine by me for the relaxed and friendly vibe, reasonable prices, and staff that ensures all the dogs are safe and having fun! Let's start with the cons: it's seriously off the beaten path- there's nothing out there. Bring everything you need- water, food, sunscreen etc. Secondly, there is literally no beach- just rocks, lots of rocks. Lastly, it is not dog, kid, or "out of shape" friendly. You have to climb around and over all those rocks to get to the water. (Oh, and there is a fee per person, if there's someone on duty). Now the pros- it is seriously off the beaten path, which means there's parking and very few people. Secondly, the water is clear and beautiful as are the views. It is near a marina, so boaters give nice waves every so often. Lastly, I loved sitting in my float just listening to the water hit the rocky shore. Very peaceful. Make sure to bring good shoes, it's a bunch of rocks going down, and it can get pretty difficult if you aren't prepared or if it's your first time. Always make sure to bring sun block because unless your at the top where the trees are at, there's no shade near the water and you will burn. If you do stay by the trees, I bring a hammock which works great, you'll be comfortable. Bring a bunch of water and a float, it gets deep in the water real quick. I always see a bunch of people with goggles, but I feel the water isn't as clear as used to be. I heard from a friend that's never been here that there's "sections" to hippie hollow, some people go far down, some stay near the entrance, etc. I'm unfamiliar with all that, but I do suggest you going with someone who you feel safe with because the perverts will always be there, and it can get uncomfortable if you're not used to being nude in public. Besides that though, most liberating park in Austin, definitely recommend you go and get a full tan.

The splash pad has a dedicated fenced in area for the water fun, and a nice grassy area with tables and seating. Perfect for a picnic! I love taking walks with my daughters along the lake, admiring the views and enjoying the wildlife. If you're adventurous you can rent a canoe or kayak from the boathouse and take it out onto the lake as well. This park is a beautiful place to spend time on a weekend!

It's great in theory but I found it a bit lacking. There's a rudimentary playground that's labeled as 2-5. And a crunk playground (3-tiered, with gnarly slides) labeled as 5-12. Don't get me wrong -- this big playground is awesome for older kids. But it's a bit too advanced/scary for a 3-year-old. Meanwhile, the little playground was too simple/easy for her. So there's a middle age that isn't really catered to. But, great for 2-year-olds and 5+. There are also multiple parks with playgrounds within a short driving distance (Champion, Olson Meadows) so you can easily park hop.

St. Edward's park is small somewhat unkemp park. The entry is filled with prickly cacti. Once you make it past the cacti, the park opens to small, narrow and rocky walking or hiking trails. There is a section of the wooden fence which is falling down. While the foliage is appealing, navigating this park can be very challenging. We did not stay for an extensive period of time. It's a high probability we will not be returning to this park. There are more visually appealing parks in Austin and there surrounding areas to choose from.
