(#1) Depending on the time of day, this might be one of the only businesses open. It is far and away the best option for food in this massive parking lot. The place is simple. There are a handful of small tables that can fit a dozen folks with a counter loaded with signs / menu items. I imagine a good number of their customers are hotel walk-ins or folks charging their EVs. Their bathroom is clean and is located in the back. As the biz name suggests, tamales are their specialty. They offer chicken, pork, beef, veggie, beans, cheese & jalapeño, and cream cheese & jalapeño. Having had all of them, I think the pork and chicken are the most filling options but cheese + cream cheese & jalapeño are the show stoppers. Prices are around $9 for a half dozen and $16 for a dozen. These aren't bad prices per se, but they're not considered cheap compared to other specialty places. They are also a breakfast taco destination. For just over $3 each, they each come with egg and chorizo, potatoes, bacon, or sausage. The chorizo and egg is my personal favorite and it goes really well with their salsa verde, which has a nice kick to it. I would also emphasize checking out their specials. They offer enchiladas, pork / beef guisado, enchiladas, burritos, and tostadas. Queso, elote, and guacamole are premium sides ($3-8) but the real time to enjoy is their weekend with menudo and barbacoa. While I can't confirm for sure, I have a feeling this is a family run business. Often times I hear a child in the kitchen or an older person (grandma?), while a young lady is often the one taking my order. They accept credit cards and now offer delivery. Do not get it confused with the actual restaurant. So since I first started coming here, I've tried several things on the menu and the menu is not big it's a perfect size menu. I have tried their Gorditas their empanadas, their chorizo, burger & different tacos. every single thing that I've tried didn't fail every time was amazing some really good food for this area and there's not that many good places in the area of Port Arthur they serve some really good authentic Mexican food. Gorditas are cooked to perfection and made to order the masa and meat ratio is perfect. You can get it with chicken, beef, Birria, pastor, barbacoa, Chicharron, which is pork skin, but I will call and ask what meat they are serving that day and meat menu does change but for the most part, they always have chicken ,beef Each and Chicharron. Their empanadas They are huge. They're not small so you can feed two people with them. it's like a deep fried tamale. The meat is inside coded around with the masa, and then deep-fried comes with a side salad is just perfect for the tacos for the tacos. They have large tacos and small tacos. I always go for the small tacos and they always pack them with meat, cilantro, onion, no matter what meat you get them on they are all good. I do recommend them and you gotta try their chorizo burger. It's a double patty with the special sauce, lettuce tomatoes, onion, and cheese comes with a side of waffle fries and onion rings excellent and cooked to perfection. This place is right off on ninth Avenue it looks like a tiny home it's colored green. They do have two entrances one in the back and one in the front doesn't matter where you come through. They do have seating in there. They do provide free coffee and free tea they also have Agua Fresca like Fresa, lemonade Horchata, etc., the place is very clean the staff is friendly and the prices are a great. Shes dirty , uses same gloves to do trash n then serves your food n ingredients on tacos. We also had placed orders for tacos and they were done wrong after we arrived still took an extra 30 min to make them we had already called in 20/30 min before to order. When we made a complaint she said she didnt care. Well obviously she doesnt care she is just an employee, after we got the tacos we requested more to order there she mentioned it would be another 30 min wait. We had never had this happen with the gentleman that was their before. We usually order more tacos after the first round and it takes less than 10 min to get them. We have drove in at night to eat here but if that girl is still there we just leave. Thanks it was good while it lasted. We will just take our money somewhere else.
