So glad this place is open again, the food is amazing and can't beat the amazing staff and views!

Family Sampler, pulled pork, mac & cheese, green beans

We sat on the patio at 630 on a Wednesday, the hostess/waitress sat us at a dirty table and apologized then went to find a towel to wipe up the table. The patio is very nice and the tables are spaced out and comfortable. Cheese curds had a very heavy batter and were large portion. Not bad at all. Dry rubbed wings were very flavorful and served piping hot. The absence of a dipping sauce was felt. We used the sauce on the curbs and it was very good but would have preferred a blue cheese. The waitress was a ghost unfortunately, she took our order dropped off the food and was not seen again until we were ready for a check. We ordered the individual sampler: ribs and pulled pork but a family style order of pulled pork and 2 huge sides arrived at the table. We were shocked by the portion and asked as the server was putting the food down if this was the individual sampler. She said it was. Dispute what the sever said It was very obvious to us that it was the family style plus the ribs were missing. The Mac and cheese was velveeta cheese like tasted fine. The green beans were very fresh and seasoned well. The pulled pork was drenched in a sweet baby Ray's type sauce I assume to try and cover for the meat which was dry and chewy.

OK, I really want this place to try a little harder. The food is decent but the menu needs some tweaks. The salads are good but, they need to add some more healthy options. Comfort food just doesn't cut it these days. The wait staff and management also need some tweaking; it's very hit or miss with their personality and attentiveness. I have had some very good and some just eh. As for the place itself; it's very clean modern and uncluttered. The view from the back is outstanding! Please do try a lot harder, I really want this place to make it!

This place is absolutely off the hook. We managed to get away for date night. Neither one of us golfs but both of us do eat, so it made sense. The combination of the atmosphere, awesome food, great view and totally hospitable service made our night. We've had a cheese and coldcut platter which hit the spot. The chicken wings were legit. The chickens which donated their wings should be proud. I've had their take on gin and tonic which was surprisingly refreshing and tart. Brisket was to die for. Almost as good as mom used to make. The whole meal, way under a 100. We will be back before more people discover this gem. Absolutely amazing.

Drove all the way over to Ashbrook, looking forward to trying the new restaurant. No information at all on the website (on July 26 the website says they're looking forward to opening the new restaurant in Spring 2019!). Beautiful evening to be outside! Then found this taped to the front door. This type of message is ideal for a website. Not sure when we'll be back. Can't put up a review without a rating. Would have chosen "incomplete" if that was an option.

I picked it knowing the solid rep of Jessica's Cafe in Plainfield, so I can't say I was stunned to find out this was awesome - but given the expectations coming in, this probably even slightly exceeded them. Pretty cool. This was literally my first time in Fanwood, unless you count taking the Raritan Valley Line through here to Hunterdon County back in the day (I don't think it counts). The weather was a little iffy throughout the day, which I'm assuming played a factor in the town feeling a little desolate when we showed up. It reminds me a lot of the Newport neighborhood in JC - super, super gentrified. Maybe it's just the section where Jessica's is though, right across the street from the train station. We parked over there, not entirely sure if that was naughty or not, but given our outdoor seating, we easily could have peeped a cop or tow truck driver before anything terrible happened (I think it was fine, given it was a Sunday night). All that to say though, I'm not entirely sure where the ideal parking is if it's not at the train station. We were only in the restaurant for a minute (enough time to ogle a fridge or freezer of tasty looking meat to the right of the entrance), so I can't speak to the spiffiness of the interior. Even though rain was a possibility, it seemed worth the risk to stay outside due to the temps and large umbrellas. No regrets in that regard. We were seated promptly and ordered shortly thereafter, while also receiving some decent bread and butter with a bit of olive oil drizzle. Quite tasty. Somehow it's become an informal tradition, but if it's on the menu we usually get the Grilled Octopus. One of the better ones we've had. Nice and crispy (texture to me is the key to this one) and seasoned well. The accompanying potatoes were a nice touch to the proceedings - would totally get this again. A lot of the other apps looked good too, but someone accidentally made me birthday weenies on the grill earlier, so I couldn't get QUITE as frisky as I normally would. Both of us gave the lamb a long, hard look (and my chum wondered aloud about the ribeye special for the rest of the evening - possibly the one that got away) but I ultimately went with my classic Short Ribs entree. Delicious. Tender, flavorful and the perfect serving size. I was a little nervous that a puree versus mashed would mean the potatoes were too wet or liquidy, but not the case at all - they maintained their relatively solid integrity as far as I was concerned. I forgot to take a picture of dessert, but I got the Creme Brule. Also excellent, and at the perfect temp. I think there may have been a birthday musical accompaniment with that, but it's all a blur. Arguably just as good if not better was the service. Our waiter was super personable and professional, stopping by regularly and just added a hospitable touch to the meal that brought this to the upper echelon for me. Service is king, and it matters - you can't take for granted the ability of your server to essentially riff for two minutes on their menu knowledge, as well as just good-natured banter. Had that in spades. Coming back for sure - Womb Exit Anniversary or not.

Special beef pho combo: The pho was cooked to perfection where it was not falling apart or overcooked. The beef and beef balls were cooked well along with the beef tripe. This restaurant is located in a small group of street lined businesses, with parking along the street. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating on their patio. 1 Star - Absolute Rip-Off. Check Your Bag Before You Leave…read more I'd give them zero stars if I could. I ordered a large Tom Kha soup with both shrimp and chicken for pickup, and apparently, "large" means "half-empty" in their kitchen. To make matters worse, they completely forgot the chicken. I paid full price for a premium, multi-protein soup and ended up with a container of half-filled broth and a couple of sad shrimp. Charging customers full price for missing ingredients and cutting corners on portion sizes is a blatant rip-off. If you're going to order from Tasty Thai, bring a measuring cup, a magnifying glass, and check your food at the counter before you walk out. Absolutely ridiculous.
