This is a service review for Alyssa and Tanner. Our family group ate here for both breakfast and dinner. Alyssa served us at breakfast and was a joy. She had us laughing, remembered everyone's orders without missing a beat, and when we wanted to add something at the last minute, she got it in right before the breakfast cutoff. That kind of quick thinking and warmth is rare, and it made the morning feel easy and fun for the whole group. Tanner took care of us at dinner and was equally impressive. Polite and attentive, he checked on us often and kept everything running smoothly even with a full docket and several family parties in his section. Juggling that many tables while making each one feel looked after is no small feat, and he handled it with real composure. Pros: Great servers Good kids meals options Food was reasonably tasty most of the time Big issue though. Weirdly and bizarrely stingy, especially with breakfast menu. We're a captive audience staying at an expensive hotel, I get that things will cost more. For breakfast though, coffee is $12 for a "French press for 2". 2 mugs are provided and you'd be quite lucky to get a mug and a half of coffee out of it. Also the coffee is not great but that's a different issue. $12 for 2 people to feel like they didn't get much coffee is a bummer. Also we got the lox bagel one morning. It was an open face lox sandwich ON HALF A BAGEL. I asked the server, surely a mistake, where is the other half bagel? Menu suggests "a bagel", which would suggest an item totaling a single bagel. The server fought the good fight with their GM and got us another half a bagel. Such a bizarre thing. I get that food costs are high and all, but in that environment you can charge a little more and ensure customers don't feel like they're being squeezed. It's ok to be expensive and generous (at a luxury resort). It's not ok to be pretty expensive and stingy. My tip, grab a coffee at the shop next to the lobby, and a bagel there too while you're at it. read more

We came here on the three separate occasions we did while we were at the Ranch last Summer; I've had this review in drafts for almost an entire year, and I figured it was time to finally post it. The first experience was less than satisfactory (for me atleast)...The second was absolutely phenomenal...And the third was good as well. The ambiance is like any tavern; classy but warm, and you'll feel right at home in an otherwise perilous place like Yosemite. The service here was absolutely phenomenal; the staff are always looking to make sure their customers are satisfied and often go above and beyond for them whenever they're not. The meals however, I'm mixed on. So the first time, I decided to order their "grilled ceasar". All I can say is this is apparently deconstructed and is anything *but* a caesar...I'll grill this one personally and just say pass...Then I tried the pan-seared duck breast...It felt undercooked and flavorless, and even after cooking it a little more, it still felt disappointingly bland. After barely finishing the duck, I quite literally thought to myself "got any grapes?" and waddled away to the convenience store for a microwavable meal after that... Brutal? Absolutely...Now you're probably thinking "If your experience was so bad, why should I bother eating here?" with how vitriolic I was about it. One bad meal doesn't mean all of them were misses, and mind you, I'm only 1 of 5 in the group at the time...And one of them suggested that over what I originally wanted...The latter which we'll talk about next. Now the second time was actually much, *much* better. That time I ordered a tomato soup (which they had that time) and the Quatro Formaggi Mac. The mac was absolutely to die for. It was garnished with breadcrumbs, the cheeses were strong and bursting with flavor, and no matter what meat you have put in there, you'll walk away satisfied like a bear that stole someone's picnic! The third time was breakfast. Honestly I'd cannot complain; not much to say there though. But it was definitely good! I will warn you that, as far as I know, the menu has changed since I've last eaten there; some of these items may or may not be available anymore. Overall? A solid spot I'd recommend to anyone who managed to brave a perilous mountain drive and found their way to the Ranch! read more

We had a lovely, delicious dinner here after a day in Yosemite. The food was awesome, staff were super nice, and the tavern/grounds were beautiful and comfortable. We especially loved the kale and farro salad. Came on a Thursday evening in May at 6:30 pm and were seated for a table of 4 with no wait. The tavern is part of a hotel, so you need to walk to the side of the hotel, by the pool, to reach the restaurant. Ample free parking in the lot in front. A bit pricey but worth it! read more

We ate at the Tavern at Firefall Ranch throughout our stay, from breakfast through dinner, and overall had a great experience. The menu is thoughtfully put together and consistently well executed. Breakfast was good, though I did wish there were a few heartier options--something like biscuits and gravy would have been a welcome addition. After a few days, the main drawback we noticed was the limited variety; during a relatively short stay, we were able to try most of what was on the menu. That said, the quality more than makes up for it. While some people mention the price, the creativity, presentation, and attention to detail felt justified. The smoked salmon with caviar was a standout, and the burger was a solid, satisfying choice. Dinner is where this place really shines. In hindsight, we wish we had eaten more dinners here. My wife ordered the vegan lasagna, and the fact that this is even offered--and done exceptionally well--earns high marks on its own. It's rare to find vegan options that go beyond an afterthought, and this one genuinely impressed us. Killer spot just 15 mile East of the Yosemite gate. Great food, very hospitable, and fantastic view. Attentive hosts and more seating than expected for a late-March Friday. Tasty charcuterie board accompanied by well-made cocktails in a locale that is hard to beat. Definitely worth a visit! read more

While I loved my stay at Firefall Ranch, my experience at The Tavern was not as positive. I stopped in for lunch and attempted to stop in for breakfast. The restaurant has a very limited menu. I usually don't mind that as it can mean that the dishes are usually well executed. During my lunch experience on 10/3/25, I ordered the Buffalo Mozzerella sandwich and my friend ordered the beef on weck sandwich. The service, while prompt, was not especially warm or friendly. The Buffalo Mozzerella sandwich was just ok. The focaccia that it was served on was not sturdy enough to support the amount of mozzerella served and quickly fell apart. I ate majority of it with a fork. I will say that the fries that came with the sandwich were delicious! I also attempted to stop by for breakfast the next day on 10/4/25. When my friend and I arrived, the restaurant was not busy at all. There were 3 tables seated. So my friend and I waited at the host stand to be greeted. The restaurant was clearly understaffed, even for the minimal customers that were present. As we stood at the host stand, multiple employees walked past and none greeted us or smiled. I have no idea who the host was and we were never asked our name or amount of people in our party despite standing at the host stand for 5 minutes. We left and went to the cafe/bakery across the street. Overall, I think I'd plan ahead for other food options before coming here. read more

Stopped in here for a bite and a couple drinks before a friend's wedding down the road. We arrived about a half hour prior to lunch service so we sat at the bar. Javier was 10/10. He hooked us up with the chef elk chili while we waited. Super friendly and very inviting. Also, very informed on ingredients and where they source from, which was fun. The food was fantastic and elevated from anything in the area. Proper restaurant burger cooked to order, and super crisp skinny garlic parmesan fries. The burrata was garnished excellently. We ate here multiple times during our stay, and overall, enjoyed our experiences. Most of the employees here were friendly and helpful. They have a full bar with a good variety of beer on tap. Spectacular!! as a foodie on vacation I find it hard to try the same restaurant more than once. In this case, I find it hard to go anywhere other than the Taber fireball Ranch. This place is simply delightful. The burgers are awesome, the steaks on the menu are both great order with the side of the seasonal grilled veggies. The vegan hash for breakfast with poached eggs and chicken sausage are unreal. The service is great, although slow at times. Their signature cocktail, s'mores, is not to be missed. Rustic and clean atmosphere add to your dining experience with a great bar and plenty of television televisions to watch sports or cartoons for the kids. There is something for everybody with local fresh ingredients. I love this place!! read more

While the resort is lovely and we had a great family reunion, we were very disappointed with the food offerings in general. Very limited menu constructed with truly uninspiring ingredients. Even the coffee, which was $12 for a pot of what was supposed to be French Press, was not good. Stayed three nights at Firefall Ranch and enjoyed breakfast and dinner at the Tavern. Food was a bit pricey but expected for a resort. Breakfast pancakes were thick, fluffy, and topped with powdered sugar--delicious! The fried potatoes were perfectly crispy. Dinner started with tasty focaccia and three flavorful dips (anchovies, olives, garlic). The corn steaks were great, my husband loved his minestrone, and the cabbage steak with parsnips and foraged mushrooms was surprisingly delicious. For dinner, we sat near the bar, where a lively group added to the fun atmosphere. The modern, stylish setting made for a great getaway. Would definitely return! read more

The tavern was a recommendation from a Groveland local. It was as delicious as we were told. The Brussel sprouts were very nutty with the pistachios. A nice touch to these sprouts. Absolutely delicious food and lovely, attentive service. My husband and I stopped here for my birthday dinner and it was one of the best choices we've made. We shared the Tomahawk steak and it was melt in your mouth delicious. The drinks were great and the appetizers and dessert as well. We had the flourless chocolate cake and it was rich and tasty. Very disappointed by this restaurant. The food was overpriced and trying too hard to be fancy, while simultaneously lacking flavor. The menu should be revised and offer more basic options if they are not going to execute the dishes well. I ordered the espresso martini off the cocktail menu, but the server had to double check that the bartender knew how to make it. I feel like if a cocktail is on your menu the bartender should know how to make it. When the drink came out it tasted nothing like the espresso martini advertised. I loved firefall ranch, but with so few restaurants to eat at in Yosemite the Tavern food should be improved. read more
