What a hidden gem!…read more While everyone is rushing to the oldest salon across the street, this nice restaurant at the first floor of the hotel is relatively empty and we were quick to snatch our table for a Friday dinner. Service was a bit slow but pleasant, totally a small town ambiance without the rush. The decoration was cozy with a full size bar and you see the hotel's front desk lounge from across. The menu is amazing with good quality and reasonable prices! Their top 2 dishes are the Little Rooster and the Wine & Bone Ossobuco. The Little Rooster was beautifully stacked on in layers of pistachio-crusted chicken breast seared in EVOO with prosciutto, mozzarella, over creamy red potato mash and topped with apple vinaigrette salad. The taste was so complex and the chicken was so juicy that I couldn't believe it's the chicken breast. The prosciutto in the middle came as a nice surprise (I did not read the menu but was captivated by the dish when a waiter was delivering it to another table) and the portion and taste puts it well above the price tag of $25. I was so elated biting into it. The Wine & Bone Ossobuco in contrast is slightly less satisfying as the meat portion was smaller than what I used to get, but we are paying $30 here vs $45 in the Bay Area. The taste is consistent to what a wine braised ossobuco is. We also tried the wagyu burger that came with a red looking sauce that I thought was spicy but it was actually sweet and sour and had a good balance for the burger patty. The personal size salad was also good in taste and size. Overall we couldn't stop talking about the food for our entire weekend trip to Yosemite. Everything was wood and there were even dollar bills stuck to the ceiling. There was a ton of artwork and props on the walls - so much to look at! We checked out the menu and decided to share the Appetizer Sampler - but then my daughter was also intrigued to see that they served Pho on Fridays which was called "Steve's Pho King Fridays." My whole family loves Pho so we had to order it. It was actually really good - we were shocked and not expecting Pho to come out that good from a Saloon! Who knew? Steve did! Overall, there is a reason why Iron Door Saloon has been around since 1852! Staff were very friendly and personable - we would absolutely come back next time we are passing through! Ate here once for convenience but came back two more times for the excellent service. The first server was a sweet college kid. She was great. The next day a fantastic young lady was my server for breakfast and was so amazing I came back for lunch. She was so professional and fast and efficient and just legendary. I will always think of her when I think about what excellent service should be! The food was good, and very fast (maybe too fast!) and the place was clean....but the service was truly fantastic!

At opening time, a women (I believe one of the owners) opened the front door with TWO big pieces of bacon in her hands, and excitedly asked if she could give them to my dog! Already blown away by the kindness and hospitality, I of course said 'yes' and my dog was in heaven. The inside looked cozy and inviting, but I sat outside (dog) and ordered the smoked corned beef hash and an orange juice. Not long after, a gentleman came out with the food (I believe he is the other owner) and it looked amazing! The plate was loaded, it came with two perfectly cooked eggs on top and an aioli drizzle that was so tasty. On top of all this, the meal included one of their scratch made biscuits, and the owner/chef gave me some of their gravy to try, on the house! Both the corned beef hash and the biscuit were hands down the best I've ever had. The breakfast potatoes were also cooked to perfection. The portion was almost enough for two people it was so generous. The only thing that would have made the experience 110% would have been fresh squeezed orange juice, but that's just cause I love fresh OJ. I (and my dog) ate like royalty and were treated to the best service I've experienced in a long time. I can't wait to find myself in the Coulterville area again, because I'm sure the rest of The Copperpot's menu is equally delicious, and the people there are the best.

There was a small technology issue with the online ordering and when we arrived to pick up our pizzas, the staff hadn't prepared one pizza because they wanted to clarify a minor ingredient that could have been included or left off. They attempted to call me back several times but unfortunately my phone had no signal. Even though we had to wait about 15 extra minutes upon arriveal for pickup, I really appreciated that they took the time to confirm the order rather than making assumptions. That level of care is important especially for customers who may have food allergies or dietary restrictions. The customer service was excellent and the pizzas were absolutely delicious. Hard working and nice crew in the back, I like how you can see the team prepping and cooking and working hard. Our whole family and friends loved both the cheese and BBQ chicken pizzas. Unfortunately his attentiveness did not make up for a disappointing culinary experience. Food: I came for breakfast, anticipating a fabulous experience as in years past. As usual I opted for the buffet, looking forward to a wide variety of delicious choices as I've had in previous visits. There are better buffets at any Hampton or Embassy Suites. The lineup included: Scrambled "Eggs" (which came from a plastic tube or bottle), cremated bacon, lackluster potato chunks (not crisp), a chicken sausage devoid of any seasoning (encased in an impenetrable skin), steel-cut oatmeal that had been sitting on the warmer far too long, a bowl of melon chunks, a bowl of grapes, some strawberries, and a tray of "signature" pastries (I'm thinking the signature was most likely Little Debbie). They also provided a steam tray with those tiny little plain bagels you purchase by the dozen. The only "special" item was a steam tray of Eggs Benedict - with English Muffins so hard I needed a sharp knife to cut it into bite-sized pieces. Oh yes. David did bring me a very nice glass of cranberry juice and the English Breakfast tea was delightful. Looking around the gorgeous dining room I did notice other guests enjoying their made-to-order selections and a felt like a chump for honoring my memories and not ordering from the menu.
