I haven't actually been to The Telway in Madison Heights myself yet, but I did get the chance to try their burgers thanks to an old supervisor at a previous job who ordered a bunch for the staff one day. I remember being pleasantly surprised by how good they were. The burgers were simple, classic sliders but packed with flavor. They had that great grilled taste and the kind of greasy, diner-style goodness that just hits the spot. Sometimes the simplest burgers are the best, and that was definitely the case here. Even though I haven't visited the location in person, that experience alone made the place stick in my mind. If the burgers were that good after being brought in for a group order, I can only imagine they're even better fresh off the grill at the restaurant. Based on that experience alone, I'd definitely be interested in stopping by the Madison Heights location one day to try them again straight from the source. read more

Stopped for a quick bite. This is my kind of place. Small dive like. The place was clean and we were greeted as we walked in. Three very friendly workers in there doing a great job. I ordered the hillbilly chili it comes with beans. Not spicy but very flavorful. I also had three sliders with grilled onions and pickles. Perfectly prepared. Right amount of pickles and onions. The fries were crisp which were very good. My wife had the chili fries I had a taste, will get those next trip. Great experience once again. read more

3.5/5 so I'll round up to 4. I was craving sliders today and just saw a movie at the AMC up the street, so I decided to try out The Telway. I didn't know that they are takeout only, or at least it seems like it. When I pulled up, there were a lot of people hanging out in the parking lot, presumably waiting for their orders. You enter the little vestibule and either pick up your order or you can place one. I used GrubHub (directed from Google) to place my order and I thought the prices were pretty cheap - $2.50 per slider, $3.50 for onion rings. However, I think they might be even cheaper in person. I do have to dock a star for all of the gnats in the vestibule - a few got in my hair, which was pretty gross. That being said, I had my meal just now at home and it was pretty delicious. The sliders are not big by any means, I ordered two sliders and onion rings and only ate half the onion rings because I was full. So I probably would have been okay with one slider and onion rings. I would come back here again when in the area, I just wish there were less gnats. read more

What can one say.. Tel Way has been around for 80 years! I think that says pretty much enough about the place. When you see it you know this is a burger / slider joint they shave the onions almost burn them then meat is cooked perfectly American cheese is great , just a great spot to stuff your cravings at 7am , 3 pm or 4:45 am .. open 24/7! read more

Hate to say it but the prices went up and the quality went down big time. $23 for 10 cheeseburgers and an order of overdone onion rings when it wasn't even busy is unbearable. 3 cheese burgers used to be enough to feed my cravings. Now it's a smear of hamburger meat, the remnants of onions, and they don't use the seasoning shaker anymore at all. Next time I want 3 cheeseburgers I'm going to Brays for a Belly Buster and I'm sure they use even more meat on that than 5 Telway burgers these days. read more

Telway is that small place on the corner you always see and pass by but never decide to actually stop to smell the roses. Telway is a hidden gem that stays open very late at night and very inexpensive. Think White Castle but a little bigger, and I'm pretty sure cheaper. The service was quick and the employees were very nice. All I ordered was two cheeseburgers and a French fry. Cost me $5 and some change. The cheeseburgers came with onions and pickles and cheese ofc ketchup and mustard .One burger and a couple fries actually filled me up. We came here late night after a concert and was surprised the line wasn't that long. We started inside the building, which meant there were only a few people ahead of us. The menu is pretty simple and they have a to-go special, which is weird because there is no inside seating (it exists, just not open). The special is for 4 hamburgers for $5.49. We ordered and waited about 10 minutes for our food. We ate in the car in the parking lot. I ended up getting a double cheeseburger and a regular cheeseburger. I also got cheese fries. Do you see a theme here? :) The burgers were great and way bigger and better than White Castle. I know they were made to order because there were only two workers there slaving away making htese special. The cheese fries were just ok though as it was slice of yellow cheese melted onto the fries, and it wasn't fully melted. read more

The Telway is a historic 24-hour greasy spoon in Madison Heights. There is another Telway in Detroit that I have never been to, but it is on my list of restaurants to eventually visit. I would come to this restaurant when I was a kid. Back then the burgers and fries were significantly cheaper, under $1.00! As with everything these days, the prices are now inflated albeit still affordable. The chicken sandwich without cheese is $2.85. The fish sandwich without cheese is $2.45. Cheese is an additional .20 cents. French fries are $1.49. A hamburger/slider is $1.20. Yes, it all sounds pretty cheap, but the size of the sandwiches and a side order of fries are very small. Maybe the size of a child's happy meal. The chicken sandwich with cheese was good but there wasn't really anything in it other than a large topping of mayonnaise. The same with the small bag of fries. If you are hungry or have a large appetite you will need to buy at least 2-3 sandwiches and fries. See how the price can add up very quickly? The taste is better than a typical fast-food restaurant but the wait will be longer during lunch and dinner hours. The service is friendly but a bit on the slow side. read more

One of the reasons I love Yelp is the advertising. It reminds me to Yelp about businesses that I frequent but haven't reviewed. The Telway definitely deserves a shout-out! The soft burger bun, the melty cheese, the beefy smashed patty, and those onions! These burgers truly beat out many of the gourmet burger restaurants popping up. These burgers are amazing and are super cravable. I can eat them any time of day. They are inexpensive, so appropriate for any budget. The Telway also offers other menu items, but honestly, I'm so in love with the cheese burgers. Aside from fries and soda, I'm not sure what they offer. Haha! I love that they are open late when everything around them are closed. Last week I ordered a crispy chicken sandwich, French fried and 4 sliders without cheese. The chicken sandwich was so hot and crunchy and so were the fries.... Delicious... the sliders were kinda old - I saw them sitting out and they just weren't as amazing as they usually are. 1st visit to this restaurant. I ordered the double cheeseburger with sauteed onions, pickles, ketchup, and mustard. It was very good. My sister had the fish and said it was good also. We both thought the fries were just okay. Service was fast and friendly at the carryout window. My first time here as I've always associated sliders with White Castle and White Castle with gastronomic disaster. It's a small spot, but the best thing is obviously that it is open 24 hours. This could have been useful information in my youth when I often settled for the taco Bell as my late night food grab on the way home from festivities. I have ordered Telway burgers and fries for the office lunch before - around 20-30 people. I usually call the morning of and by noon they have the entire order ready. Service at pickup was great, staff were friendly, however they do not accept tips on a card, only cash! The office meal was reasonably priced for such a large order. Ambiance inside is cute, it's a small milkshake style bar- similar to Hunter house on Woodward. Would recommend eating the food there as burgers and fries never travel well. read more

Telway is an absolute staple to the northern Detroit suburbs area. They have been making their food the same way for decades, and not only do they do a great job, they scratch a specific itch that sometimes not even White Castle can fulfill. On the outside, it would appear to be like any other slider spot, but the inside is what counts. They have a relatively expansive menu that will hit the spot for any late-night cravings. Even if those cravings arise at 4:15am. If I come here in the wee hours of the night and order 10 burgers, Telway grants my request with a smile on their face, and does so with a level of professionalism and grace that cannot be achieved by certain other restaurants. The other restaurant in question is the Macdonalds on Washtenaw Road in Ypsilanti Michigan. That place is a hellscape, and in 2016 they wouldn't prepare 10 Big Macs for me at 4:15am because they said they could only make breakfast. Crazy how they lose their ability to cook the same burgers the same way just because the time on the clock is different. If only they had a fraction of Telway's power. Imagine working in a burger place and not being able to produce your flagship sandwich because of the time, even after an attempted $10 bribe from a dear patron. This place seems to be glorified by all the locals. These locals must come from a time in America where nothing of quality mattered or maybe they're so caught up on those nostalgic days that they think this place is good. It's not. It's quite frankly hit garbage. Every single time I've been here (3 times) I've had soggy burgers with no flavor. The first time I ate here I had the runs. This place is unreal. I'll be telling my friends about it for weeks. They just don't have spots like this in New York. It's basically a shack in the middle of a CVS parking lot that cranks out burgers for $1.15 or something like that. Fries, shakes, coneys, you name it - nothing on the menu is more than like $3. You can get a quick bite for just a few bucks or, if you're as hungover as we were on Saturday when we went, you can get a massive, disgusting meal for under $10. Did it cure my hangover? Absolutely not. Definitely made me feel worse. But god - this place is a gem. Service was bizarrely friendly and the food was greasy and delicious like I wanted.
