My normal massage spot in Costa Mesa wasn't avaliable, so my mom and I decided to try somewhere new. Due to all the great Yelp reviews, I gave Thai Rose Massage Spa a shot. Unfortunately, my massage didn't live up to the overall experience and definitely couldn't be described as a deep-tissue massage as it wasn't strong enough. My massage therapist was very sweet and kind. However, I didn't feel that she tackled the knots on my upper back, which was my core issue and the primary reason I went in for a deep tissue massage. That said, my mom really enjoyed her massage with her therapist. My guess is that I was paired with a masseuse who just wasn't strong enough for my taste. The business is very cute, clean and inviting, but for the cost, I just didn't feel that it was worth it. read more

What a special treat! I went in on a whim, got an appointment easily, and had one of the best Thai massages ever. I signed up for a 60 minute, but soon realized I need a full hour and a half and they easily accommodated me. I recently traveled all over Thailand, and this massage was by far my favorite. Priced fairly, very clean and calming rooms. My therapist was Becky and she was perfect! Great pressure and overall wonderful massage. Kind and inviting front office staff. I got the deep tissue massage for 60 minutes, comes with optional walking on body and stretching. They have the heated beds and also cleanse off oil excess with warm wet towel. I showed up to the massage appointment 30 minutes late and the owner looked at me a little sideways so instead of telling me that she doesn't accept late walk in appointments (like @Wesley who left a one star review 9 months ago below me) she gave me dirty looks and said that she could still take me in. So I go in for a massage with my girlfriend and she ended up enjoying it but I didn't end up enjoying mine at all; my masseuse specifically struck a nerve in my back repeatedly and injured my shoulder area. I'm a golfer and had trauma in my back which caused me to stop swinging. DO NOT COME HERE. There are plenty Thai massages that do a DUPERB service and a chill ambience. I've been going to this place for several years and had a couple of masseuses that were awesome. The last two times I have gone, not only was rate increased (still, relatively a good price) but all of the seasoned masseuses are gone. The new, younger ladies, use forearms and elbows instead of rubbing with their hands. I haven't seen Rose in the past couple months. The "front of house" is a nice man I think may be Rose's son. I think changes have been made that I feel, unfortunately, this is no longer the place for me. Big Bummer. read more

Lucky is my new favorite masseuse. She went super deep in my shoulders and really got my knots out. I love massages that "hurt so good" and Thai Rose definitely delivered. This was my first time here so I opted for a one hour Thai massage and it was amazing. I am currently 2/3 of the way through a half marathon training regiment, have a desk job and sit through L.A. traffic 5 days a week so there was plenty of knots for the masseuses to work out. I had a ton of muscle tightness (especially in my legs and shoulders) and this was the perfect fix - I didn't even have to direct the masseuse to those problem areas as she was able to intuitively find them and work them out. Do not go to this place for a massage. Just on the fact that the owner is awful is reason enough to jot support this place. I recently came here because my back was sore. I called hoping to see a therapist I have seen in the past but he apparently is not there anymore. I asked if there was someone comparable to him and the front desk person suggested someone. I actually don't think they had anyone else so that's who I got. I would like to point out that I am actually a massage therapist myself. However I am not trained in Thai massage and only have the experiences from the other Thai massages I hav e been to. At first the massage seemed ok. She checked on my pressure and asked if everything was ok. Again being a massage therapist myself it is sometimes hard to jot just relax and not critique. Later in the massage she took her foot and placed it in my rib cage and then took my arm and pulled me toward her while pushing away with her foot. It was that moment when I got a sharp excruciating pain and immediate squealed. I was actually shocked at what just happened and she knew because she asked if I was ok. She had stopped doing the foot thing and I was not sure if I was actually ok so she moved on and away from the area. As the massage continued if she came near that area I was in pain and she knew because I would make a sound so she would steer clear. I don't think anyway can know how they would react when something like this happens. I've never experienced anything like this. I was actually in a lot of pain and a little bit of shock. After the massage I payed and the front desk asked me if it was good and I said ya, but really I wanted to get out of there as feet as I could. When I got to my car I broke down in tears and called my husband who calmed me down and told me to get back in there and report it immediately and say something. So I did. I told the front desk girl that I thought the therapist might have broken my rib. She dismissed me and said "no honey it's just the muscle. Your ok" again I feel like I was in shock over the whole thing. She then said you come back I will look at it and take care of you. Now I am feeling like I'm crazy. And she thinks I'm crazy. So she proceeds to look at it and tries to massage it. Telling me it's ok it's just the muscle. Every time she would try to go near the area I would flinch and cringe in pain. This went on for a while and finally she said ok thanks honey and that was all. No report she just said I'm sorry. So I left. I went home in pain. The next day I woke up miserable. I was swollen and couldn't cough, sneeze, laugh. Anything! I was able to go see my chiropractor who adjust me and Sid I had 8 vertebrae and two ribs including my floating rib out. I wasn't going to go to a doctor and pay for X-rays only for them to tell me there is nothing you can do for a rib. A chiropractor would be more helpful in this situation. I never felt it crack but my chiropractor thinks she did something to the cartridge between the ribs. I saw the chiro on Friday Monday and Tuesday and decided to call the massage place back to again report this and ask for my money back. I have been unable to most things as it has been too painful. When I asked to speak to the owner the front desk girl said she would let her know. She did not bother to call me and texted me instead. She will not call me. Will not return my money and I used a gift certificate for the 60 minutes. My family bought me that massage so it is my money. I paid $50 +tip for the extra 30 minutes I got. Also tried tell me that I can't walk if I broke my rib is absurd. You can in fact walk. She was condescending and this is bad business. It has been over a week and I am still in pain. I can not do my normal daily activities and she refuses to refund my money or call me back. She said if I wanted to reach her to email her. Still no response. read more
