Expert advice. They helped us in the past with looking for replacement tiles. Next time we were doing bathroom remodeling, we went to The Tile Guy. While other places with fancy showrooms said it would take them 4-6 weeks to get tile in, The Tile Guy was 1-2 weeks. I went to The Tile Guy looking for tile for my kitchen backsplash. The place seemed so disorganized. It was hard to even distinguish what they were selling from the piles of samples sitting on the floor and on tables. The service wasn't wonderful either. I was ready to pick something and write a check on that visit and the sales associate didn't really seem to care nor wanted to help me. I made the mistake of buying the bulk of my bathroom tile from a "retailer". Paid too much. Had lousy service. My installer recommended The Tile Guy when I needed to order some more pieces. Wow, what a difference. Even though these were small orders, Barry went out of his way to track down some tile that was out of stock at the warehouse. They treated me like I had ordered thousands of dollars worth of stuff even though it has only been a few hundred. And the prices were better too. About 18% less. The last time I was there, I overheard one salesman telling a contractor that for the tile he wanted, HD would be cheaper. The contractor was a bit shocked and said that he would rather give the Tile Guy the business instead of HD... They call when orders are in. Order on time. Merchandise is on time. We will definitely use them for our next flooring/tile purchases. read more

I looked at other places, and did not see anything I liked as much as the selection at The Tile Guy. After I went back, I had good service and was very pleased with the flooring I chose from them. These guys are simply awesome. A neighbor suggested I shop for tile here based on personal experience. I was not disappointed. Great selection of samples in store, friendly helpful service and they will let you borrow samples as needed using the honor system. How cool is that? This store is the Anti Floor and Decor! I've found some terrific tile I plan to use for my remodel. This is tile I never would have found at Floor and Decor or many of the other larger stores. Glenn is super helpful and great to work with. I've purchased 4-5 types of tile from The Tile Guy over the past few months for the remodel of 2 bathrooms and a kitchen. They have a great selection, about anything you could want, and are quite knowledgeable and great to work with. Pricing is very competitive, and delivery time for ordered products is reasonable. Only suggestion for improvement is that they could be a bit more consistent and responsive with communications - sometimes took 2 or 3 calls or emails to get an answer- but this is more a function of being busy rather than disinterest or lack of concern. Super friendly guys with a great helpful attitude. Definitely my 'go to' place for tile and wood flooring in the Austin area. read more

Barry Welch of the Tile Guy should give lessons in customer service. He sits by the customer entrance and stopped eating his home-made sandwich when I walked in. He greeted me w/ a pleasant smile and asked how he could help. I had the smallest of tile orders: I needed only 3 replacement Tarantine tiles, cut to size, to replace those I had to break to remove and replace a dishwasher. He ordered them, gave them to an installer to cut them to my dimensions (at no charge), and informed me when they were ready for pickup. Each time I called or stopped in (I work nearby) to check on the status, as the whole process did take a couple of weeks, but I was not in a hurry or desparate need, he knew who I was and informed me of the status of my order if he knew it or called me when he did. When I went to pick up my order he was carrying it out to my car before I even walked through the door, as he'd seen me pull up and park. I for all that I was charged a whopping $16.72, including tax. I'm certain that he treats customers with 100x+ that size order the same way. It was a good and respectful experience throughout. If I (and the rest of the world) were treated this way by sales people and customer service reps, merchants, service providers, etc., we would be happy and live in a happy world. I found the staff at The Tile Guy to be very knowledgeable. John can tell you about everything in the store and ways to use it. Roman offered design options and smiled as he went the extra mile to find an accent tile for us. We purchased a ceramic tile for our kitchen floor, a specialty tile for our master bath that actually came from California through another local tile company but purchased from The Tile Guy because they offered it to us for less--and two different kinds of accent tile and liner. You can look lots of places. There are beautiful showrooms out there, but when it's time to put your money down, The Tile Guy is a great place to go! read more

When you're a novice, tiling can be extremely daunting. I checked out three places in Austin for bathroom tile: Tile Guy, Home Depot and Dollar Tile. Dollar Tile was a horrible experience and so it was not an option and with Home Depot I knew I would be on my own. Maybe HD would be a smiggen cheaper and better hours, but I knew there would be hours wasted going back and forth because I had bought the wrong item. Also, I had a hard time justifying not supporting local business. Yelpers pointed me in the direction of Tile Guy and I am so pleased with every interaction I have had with them. John is very knowledgeable and patient. He will help you figure out everything from amount to buy, what color grout, to tricky things like accent tiling. They are a mom and pop place you can feel really good about. Go see these guys for all your tiling needs. They have a gorgeous selection of tiles! read more

We bought some 12" tile to do our new shower, and our experience at the Tile Guy was fantastic. We showed up late on a Saturday and they helped us out even after their official closing time, which was very nice of them. They also let us take home tile samples right off the wall with no questions asked, and once we ordered our tiles, they held onto them until we were ready to pick them up.
