Karen helped my husband and I find tile for our bathroom gut rehab. We walked in with some idea is what we wanted and Karen spent almost 2 hours with us helping us sort through the options and figure out what was in stock and available for a quick delivery time. We are on a tight deadline for our project. When we needed more tile on a quick turnaround time, Karen tracked it down and helped us get it delivered quickly. OK. So i was skeptical about coming here because everyone told me it was super duper expensive but while it wasn't cheap, it has A LOT to offer. First-- enough selection so you can dream big, think big. We went with a glass mosaic tile, larger slightly textured ceramic subway tiles, and ceramic flooring that will make the bathroom pop. They do have some really fancy stuff but our choices were totally reasonable given their uniqueness. Also, compared to other stores, they have a lot of unique things that we didn't see at other places. Second-- tell them your budget. Ask for your contractor's discount. They built our quote based on our contractor's pricing so it wasn't as bad. Third-- they offer free design services. We worked with Casey who is freaking awesome and super friendly. Since we came on a weeknight, it wasn't terribly busy and Casey along with her manager spent good time assisting my husband and I. They put all our stuff against this look board and made suggestions on grout coloring as well as a "pencil" to slightly separate the glass mosaic design we are doing so its framed against the subway tile. Fourth- Whatever you don't use, you can return. They build our quote with some extra to make sure we had enough but it wasn't exorbitant. I'll post before and afters once we get started with our renovations. Wish us luck! Tip- come with your room dimensions to make your quote as accurate as possible. She carefully took the time to listen to what we were looking for, looked at the samples of the countertop that we were considering and provided her expertise in helping us narrow down to one. Two days ago , I bought a glass cutter tool and today I had problems getting money at the same day for only $22.00..... Not even $1000.00 or $5000.00 but $22.00.... They have this corporate policy of returning your money back by check, their own gift card and blah or credit card. The store manager tells me I was lucky getting any money back because the packaged item had been opened by me... Furthermore , he told me I could get an amount of up to $10.00 in cash back not $22.00... Wow. .. The item did not work for me because the wheel was not stiff on cutting glass.. The store manager had a different perspective.. On a side note, they sell a tile suction device for $50.00 and the same item for $7.83 at lowes... Recommendation not to buy their pricey tools with lousy return policy.... They have good tiles and nice show rooms... Their money returning policy is very slow... read more

Used the Tile Shop for new backsplash in kitchen, so thankfully only a small job. One star review is based on big mistake and deceptive (read lying) sales personnel. 1. Get a call from my contractor saying they don't have tiles when he's there to pick them up. I call, get put on hold couple times before being told that they gave my order to another customer. Luckily that was to a different contractor they could identify and eventually they were able to get the tiles back in time for job to not be delayed. Did cost me about an hour in calls. If that would have been it, i probably would have just not used the again but also probably would have not bothered with leaving a review. 2. The sales person explicitly told us we can bring back unused tiles, incl. opened box as that was how they get their samples. Tried to return today and was told only full boxes. My issue is not with the policy, but the fact that they lied about it. That kind of distrustful behavior makes the place just not worth dealing with when there are enough alternatives out there. read more

I have been a retail manager for 20 years so I worked alongside my fair share of amazing sales professionals, and Brian was really the epitome of top talent. I just finished bathroom remodeling project at my home. I got all the tiles (floor, wall tiles for the shower and wall tiles around the bathtub) from this store. I can't say enough good things about the staff at the store and especially the store manager Hilmo (not sure if this is the correct spelling). They went above and beyond to help me. Wow! We just had the best experience here. My husband and I went in this evening at 6:30 to purchase tile for a project starting tomorrow. Sharrie was a god-send. She went out of her way to help us choose the tile (without being pushy), give advice on how to tile certain tricky areas, determine square footage, and was so resourceful to get the tile in our hands so our project could start on time. Unfortunately, I have to write this review and want to give this store NO STAR AT ALL. This is my first time that I had to write my first worst review on YELP for the sales in this store because they give me so " BAD " customer service. First, I enter to the store, the sale lady give me the upper weird look like what am I doing here. Like I'm not kind of class people can buy stuffs in their store. She isn't ask or greet to me as a customer. Anyway I give a " hi " to her. Then I just walk in the store and take a tour to find the tiles that I'm looking for. I did check it online already but I just want to see the tiles in myself before I purchase it. So I just walk around to the whole store to look for it but no body say or help me even they saw me walking around. especially that lady, she faced to face across the hall with me. I am building a house and had zero experience with tiles. My builder/developer suggested that I visit the "best in the tile business" -- Faruk at the Tile Shop. Faruk is an ultimate professional. He is incredibly knowledgable with tiles (and the process), has an outstanding design sense, knows how to delight customers, and has the patience of a saint. I worked with Faruk to select tiles for 5 bathrooms, 1 kitchen, 1 basement and a fireplace. He was a great partner --- guiding me through every step. He even came to the new house to "test" our selections. His customer service skills are amazing - he values all his customers and takes into account their needs, budgets, and design style. He's also a great communicator -- not only giving advice but he listens a lot to understand the customer needs and what's important to them. They are always extremely helpful and knowledgeable, and while maybe a bit more costly than the big box stores, we don't need to worry about stock orders. Their products are high quality. Just returned a lot of tile to a big box, because they didn't have the bull nose pieces we needed, and didn't know when those pieces would be available. We have 3 toddlers and she was extremely friendly and accommodating as our kids wanted to play in the store. We had searched all the big box stores for the perfect bathroom tile and were just at the point of settling for one of the common patterns you see everywhere, when a friend recommended we try the Tile Shop on Touhy. As we walked through the doors and saw the beautiful tile and showrooms, it seemed the clouds parted and angels began to sing. There were so many attractive tile options and gorgeously staged rooms that we had a new problem: how to narrow our choice to just one design pattern. But once we saw the bathroom with unique green marble tile, we knew we'd found The One. We can't say enough good things about Karl Hahn, our salesman, and Hilmo, the manager, who were both extremely accommodating to us. We also give both high marks for outstanding customer service. Seemed like a newbie, but absolutely helpful. About to leave but while looking carefully at a display, I was approached by Sherrie Mueller who is an absolute genius. My little question was bigger than I knew and as we passed Erin helping someone else, I said I felt disloyal to my 1st salesperson. They both laughed and Sherrie said, "All that matters is that the customer is happy. We've actually just traded customers." She then went on to check inventory around the nation and in transit from abroad, advised me on quantities, lugged pieces from the back, and stayed half an hour after closing to finish what became a significant order. She advised me in detail about options for installation--sage advice from lots of experience as a DIY and as a tile/stone expert. When I stopped by the next day on a minor point, she was again gracious, treating me as if I were her only customer when clearly the place was hopping.
