Oscar sold us the tile and then, Edgar has provided several referrals to other tradespeople. His expertse gave me the contacts I needed to GC our kitchen remodel. He saved us tons of money, by helping us skip the GC layer and go straighter to an amazing cabinet installer. He also referred us to an amazing stone counterseller and installer. Before you shop here, beware that almost everything has to be ordered and they allow NO returns period. My mother and I spent hours at this store shopping. They never told us any returns. We are now left with over 5 of 6 boxes of expensive tile we cannot use. I also suspect they charged me for tile I did not get because the contractor said they told him they ordered 3 extra boxes. I hope I didn't pay for those 3 extra boxes. They need to be clear there are no returns. I also got no receipt was not warned ahead of time about freight charges. Many of the items you can also order yourself online for much cheaper. You are getting no deal here. I feel so scammed.They also will treat you like a nuisance if you cannot immediately decide. One of the men told my mom when she called that he was very busy right now. P.S. In response to the business, anything can happen in a home improvement project. In my case, the larger tiles cannot be used on the dry wall as the dry wall is not completely straight. All other companies have reasonable return policies. Only edgebrook tile are this rude. Oscar hung up the phone on my mother. Shame. He was also so rude to my mom when we were shopping. He told her, "Think of me as a son giving you advice." This guy is probably close to my mother's age. My mom was born in 1966. No way Oscar is young enough to be her son. I was NEVER told they have no returns period. They in fact encouraged me to order extras!!! In since the tile I ordered is a popular one and unopened, they should have no problem taking back and storing if somebody else needs in the future. I also tried to talk to Oscar peacefully. He assumed I was my mother and started screaming at me on the phone, getting extremely hostile. I tried to tell him I am an attorney and know that sale of goods over $500 have to be in writing. In since I said this, he accused me of trying to scare him or threaten him. He is not well and has no respect for people who spend thousands of dollars in his store. My mother and I had to go to the store to ask for a receipt later. He never gave me a receipt in writing before the transaction nor did he explain the terms that there are NO refunds or exchanges. Almost all his products are special order as the store is small and he has nothing in stock, so basically everything in his store is NO REFUND OR EXCHANGE. Go elsewhere. You are better off going to Floor and Decor or The Tile Shop as they let you return unopened products within a reasonable time period. -RECEIPT NEVER EMAILED TO ME -WAS TOLD NOTHING ABOUT NO RETURNS OF EVEN UNOPENED BOXES -WAS NEVER TOLD THAT ITEMS NOT IN STOCK CANNOT BE RETURNED -CONTRACTORS PICKED UP AND THEY SAY THEY GAVE RECEIPT TO CONTRACTORS. SORRY, BUT THATS NOT ENOUGH. YOU HAVE TO LET CLIENT KNOW IN WRITING PRIOR TO TRANSACTION. -THEY DIDN'T LET ME KNOW ABOUT FREIGHT FEES. THEY CHARGED THOSE LATER. He is also claiming my mom used profanity. Never heard this. Oscar is the one who started screaming. My mom was talking kindly to the girl, she handed the phone to Oscar who started getting defensive, nervous, and screaming. That this man takes advantage of people during these hard economic times is sad. I'm now left with many boxes of tile I cannot use. Oscar had the nerve to tell me if he makes an exception for me, he has to make one for everybody. First, how would somebody else know? Second, he should happily accept unopened boxes from anybody especially when they are a popular neutral tile. I have never met somebody with such a lack of regard for others. NEVER WAS EMAILED A RECEIPT OR WARNED ABOUT THEIR POLICY WHICH DEVIATES FROM INDUSTRY STANDARD. read more

Don't let the location north west location dissuade you, it's with the trip, right off the Edens, they have all the same stuff as the downtown stores, but with better prices. I'm a landlord and need lots of good looking lower price tile, he's my guy, or if you want a high end brand or look, he's got the of those too. I've never written a review of any business before, but I absolutely had to review Edgebrook Stone and Tile Design and its owner, Oscar. My husband and I wanted to convert our jack and jill bathrooms into two separate bathrooms. I wanted a dark, spa like bath and he wanted a black and white modern minimalist shower. Most of all we wanted something unique or at least not often seen. We went to ALL of the typical tile stores and some of the high end tile stores, like Virginia Tile, Ann Sachs, and everything in between. We didn't know exactly what we wanted, we just knew that we would know it when we saw it, but everything there looked very "been there, done that", until we went to Edgebrook Tile. My husband fell in love with the glass hexagon tile that we placed in his shower and the "tweed looking" floor tile. I had seen an acid washed tile that I loved in Florida, and Oscar was able to get it for me for the same price. The prices were great, the service was SUPERB! Everything was delivered on time, placed in the garage and in perfect condition. Edgebrook and Oscar were fabulous.....if only our contractor had been as good. He messed up the shower floor...Oscar had extra tiles. The contractor had never worked with glass tile before, and didn't have the proper tools, so the cuts were jagged and uneven....horrible. I was so upset with the finished shower, I drove from Wheaton to Edgebrook on the northwest side of the City to see if Oscar had any suggestions for what I could do to make it look better short of taking all of the tile down and starting over. Oscar was so concerned about how upset I was, he just wanted to make it right for me, even though the bad result had nothing to do with their service or the tile. He dropped everything, and called his "guy" to see if he could do me a favor and drop everything and come out to Wheaton to look at the job. His "guy" said, "of course." I went back home, looked at the shower again and rationalized to myself that it would look fine when it was grouted and cleaned up and never called Oscar's guy. Fast forward, a couple of months into using the shower occasionally, the grout starts seeping out of the tile around the niche. Awful. We regrout but the cracking and seepage returns. At my wits end, I drive to Edgebrook on a whim that maybe Oscar can help me again, and of course, Oscar delivers. He introduces me to his tiler, Pedro, and we make arrangements for Pedro to come out to Wheaton and regrout the niche and surrounding area. Oscar says "don't worry, Pedro will take care of it", "he will fix it and he will be reasonable." Pedro came as planned, fixed the previous mess, filled in the grout on the other walls where he could and made everything look wonderful! The thing with Oscar is that: he truly wants you to be happy. I really think it personally pains him if he is presented with a problem (his customer's problem) that he can't find a solution to. Even though Oscar's tiler had not done the original work, I think Oscar would have moved heaven and earth to find a tiler for us who would be willing to come out to the western suburbs and fix another contractor's work, and take the time for a small job, at that. Not many people would do that. So, bottom line, we will drive an hour from Wheaton to Edgebrook to buy our tile from Oscar at Edgebrook tile, EVERY SINGLE TIME. Oscar works hard for his customers, he really wants you to be happy with your project, and he earns and deserves your business! He has interesting tile, and what he doesn't have, he can get for you. The tile work had already been done in my new bathroom and I wasn't entirely happy about the finished product, so I told a friend whose an interior designer and she sent me to Oscar. I showed Oscar photos of my shower and we discussed changes that would improve the look of it. Oscar offered design ideas I liked and showed me displays in the store to get a better idea of what the finished product would look like. With a referral from Oscar for a tiler and tiles and shluter from the store, I was ultimately able to get the beautiful shower I wanted. I shopped for our kitchen here when it was still in Sauganash, and after visiting at least 5 other stores, we kept coming back here. They had the best price and selection and were the most helpful, especially when recommending PowerGrout (which some other stores had never even heard of). They DO sometimes get swamped -the day I placed my order there were 3 customers ahead of me, and it was a little nuts (it took a while) - BUT the order came on time, perfect, and we love our floor. Review long overdue. Several years ago I met Oscar as I was frantically trying to find a very specific tile that the Tile Outlet just ran out of when I was about to place the order. They (Tile Outlet) was no use as I tried to find out when the tile was going to be restocked as they really don't care about going the extra mile. When I told Oscar about the situation he asked for a piece of the tile looked at the back (the stamp) and called his distributor he knows who found the exact one I was looking for out of state (MI). Had the tile in his store for pickup in less then 1 week. All this for a tile he doesn't even carry. Not surprising I gave him my ENTIRE order for that project. Fast forward several years later and I used him to purchase most of the tile I used in my new home construction that I designed. He was great to work with, answers all questions (heck just text him with any concerns), price competitive, and is a family run store. How can you beat that. Another advantage is he is one of the few tile places that actually have displays up to see examples of design ideas. If you need tile Saugnash Stone and TIle and Oscar may not be your only stop, but it would be more efficient to make it your FIRST stop. Very good chance you won't need to search any further as he will find you what you want if he doesn't carry it. As you can expect he is pretty busy on weekends so if you want to bend his ear a bit more come on a weekday. Otherwise, I have no qualms of knowing any tile I need Oscar is the Man! I ran into a last minute "crisis" in our kitchen project. The back splash we chose didn't match the countertops once they were installed. This place is fantastic. Something I'm not proud of is my tendency to frequent big box retailers instead of small local businesses--thinking I'll save a buck or two or get fast service. But on a whim, my husband and I dropped into Edgebrook Stone & Tile and I'm so glad we did! Not only are the prices and speed of service as good, if not better, than the Home Depots of the world, Oscar was so great and very accomodating. He encouraged us to take his tile samples home before making a decision, wanting to make sure we were 100 percent happy with our choice. We ordered the tile and it arrived in just a day or two. I'm having a bathroom renovated and don't enjoy looking for tile. Every store I went to carried either the faux wood ceramic tile or marble. I didn't want either for my kids' bathroom. I went to HD and Lowe's, no customer service,same with the big floor & tile shop in Skokie. I went to a big tile store in the city but they only wanted me to buy what they had in stock (faux wood and subway tile), told me a special order would take a month and maybe it'd be available, maybe not. I went to a nice shop in Niles but didn't have what I wanted. So, I looked on Yelp and saw the good reviews for Edgebrook S&T. I live 5 min from there and never noticed it and decided to try it. Very nice selection. They have the faux wood ceramic and the subway tile and much more. Oscar was SO helpful and kind, we were able to put together what I wanted. He special ordered (took less than a week) a tile for the floor to be laid in a herringbone pattern and an in stock tile for the walls, helped me with accent tile and even helped me with grout colors. A bit of advice, make an appointment with Oscar if you want help with choices or ideas or if you have questions, he's busy. read more
