I have been here 4-5 times and every time it had been great service with great food. Last weekend was a huge bust. Short staffed? Manager that was having a really bad day with a mood to match or was "on" something? I can give a new server a lot of room for errors, especially if it's His first week on the job...But when the manager doesn't care about the customers to help the new guy out, he shouldn't be a manager - it's like he threw a newbie to the wolves. I think every single person (out of 8 of us) got the wrong order. Food was not worth the $ (it used to be). We waited 30+ minutes to get our bill, and only one was not wrong. They comp'd our appetizers most likely because they didn't want to come back to ask us which bill to add them to, not because our experience was not great. If you want to get away from the college crowd, this is a great place to go. The food prices range $11 for sandwiches to $25 for Short Ribs to meet a variety of price points. The portion sizes seem small but it was filling. read more

Really good fried pickles. Abysmal food service, apps and drinks are reasonably fast but if it's half capacity expect a 90 minute wait on food. Tried twice thinking first would have been a fluke but unfortunately it wasn't. Literally one of the best experiences I've ever had at a restaurant! The atmosphere and décor were great. I can't remember our server's name but he was phenomenal and the drinks and food he suggested were incredible. The martinis were out of this world and the food was full of flavor and very fresh. Fun atmosphere, good local beer selection and friendly service. The menu is eclectic as advertised, but maybe a little ambitious. Overall a fun evening with good food. My only real put off was the server when asked about certain dishes replied with the unhelpful "I've actually never had that." Come on...at least do some taste tests to help guide diners. read more

Hit or miss. The first time I got the fish and chips special and it was amazing! For dessert we split the baked Brie which was stellar! However the second time I had the caprese salad and was not impressed. The cheese tasted past its prime, basil tasted old and the prosciutto tasted off. Hopefully it was just a one time thing. I tried the special. Salmon ravioli. Small portion. I love salmon. It was not great. Some were strong fishy tasting pieces and some were bland. I was really hungry since it had been 8 hours since I ate. I just couldn't finish, I choked down half. The sauce tasted like watered-down ketchup. It was not the servers fault nor the restaurant. After all I took the chance on ordering it. I just can't recommend it. They took it off my bill. Kudos for noticing I didn't like it. I will try the place again. Fair is fair. I live in downtown Fargo and the primary issue I have with this establishment is the lack of personality exhibited by the staff. There is a real lack of friendliness to the point of bordering on rude. A major factor for me when sitting at the bar is the engagement and attentive service I receive from the bartender(s). Both of which, are severely lacking to the point that I feel unwelcome. There are much better establishments in the downtown Fargo that actually respects the business of its patrons and where the already great experience is heightened by the attitude of its bartenders. read more

My wife and I have been here for dinner several times and have never been disappointed. Went tonight again and I had Salmon and Polenta yum, my wife had the risotto and was also very good. This is a great place for date night. The servers are attentive, knowledgeable and very pleasant. read more

I was passing through on business and needed a quick drink and lunch. I opted to sit at the bar, and man was that the best choice. The bartender was extremely friendly and he answered all my questions about the area and anything else I had for him. He was polite and recommended a great wine for me. Turned 55 years old on Friday, 4/27/18, rather than go out with friends, decided to make it a quiet private evening with my spouse and her 93 year old mother, she's never been there. Arrived at Toasted Frog at 7:10 and place is busy, host says about an hour wait. I consider and decide we'll wait. Waited until 8:40, no thank you, packed up and left, and will never return to this overrated overpriced small portioned farce of elequent dining. I've multiple previous experiences in this establishment that have left me with strong distaste for the place, but this is it, I'll not return. read more

We went on a Friday night at dinner time and were told the wait was an hour unless we wanted to sit at the kitchen/chef's table. Needless to say we said yes and had probably the best night out in a while. The food was amazing and the waitress knew what she was talking about when asked for an opinion. We started off with the cheesy fried pickles, which we highly recommend, they are more of a fried cheese with a pickle inside but so delicious. We contemplated getting an order to go. I had the chipotle pork sandwich with rice pilaf which was perfectly seasoned, just a little hint of spice and heat afterwards. What I liked the best was that you are given a choice of starch for your meal. Tonight it was rice pilaf, garlic mashed potatoes, or sweet potato fries. Boyfriend had the lamb burger with mashed potatoes and again everything was delicious and we were well prepared for the taste of the burger by the waitress. It was a taste of a gyro in burger form and not overly dry. They only cook the burger to medium so that it doesn't dry out and they hit the nail on the head. We finished the night with the baked brie. This did take a little longer to come out of the kitchen then expected, but the homemade caramel sauce more than made up for it. We can't wait to head back and try some new things on the menu. The one con I have is that sitting at the chef table I witnessed a server placing leftover pizza into the togo container with their bare hands. not a big negative for us read more

Disappointing, stopped in for a quick beer and appetizer before a show at the Fargo Theatre. They were NOT busy. Maybe 4 tables. Ordered their cheesy fried pickles! Despite telling our server we were going to the show, Never got our appetizer, but we were given our bill, so "we would make the show" , the bill was for 2 beers and the pickles. Awful experience. We had a reservation for 7:00 and waited for about forty-five minutes after we were seated before finally placing our orders; waited for another hour for our food and the waiter had also forgotten an appetizer that was ordered. We ran out of water and all other drinks; waiter never checked on us. Our friend ordered what should have been a large steak and got a tiny, pathetic steak with a huge portion of fries that he didn't even order. And the "melted garlic butter" on the filet mignon that someone in our group ordered was rock hard, practically frozen. Worst experience at a restaurant. We tried speaking with the manager who only made excuses and did not attempt to improve the service or the experience. One person in our group tried explaining to the waiter why we were unhappy and he simply walked away. And to top it all off, they were NOT busy....completely unacceptable treatment when a place is busy, even worse when there are open tables and you still have to struggle to get service. My husband and I ordered fish tacos and a pasta dish and shared both and they were both amazing. We both loved the drinks we ordered too. Their portions and the drinks are small, but the food is delicious enough and the drinks are mixed strong enough it doesn't matter. Their atmosphere is really nice inside, with conversations and music around you but not too loud, so you can have a normal relaxed conversation without raising your voice. We will definitely come back for any occasion where we want to splurge and get really good food. read more

When we walked in there was not an open seat, the host said there was a 1.5 hour wait that we could put our name on the list and check the bar. My husband found one open seat at the bar so he took that and waited on another. I sat by the door where there were no other customers waiting, but I guess reservations were being taken? I asked again, are there other customers waiting on a table besides us, he assured me yes. During this time three more parties came in and left due to the 1.5 hour wait. After 10 minutes 4 seats opened at the bar which I took one of and the bartender served me immediately. The menu has a good variety which included frog legs, however I went with the veggie lavosh and my husband had the fish tacos. We probably waited 45 minutes on our food. The bartender was very attentive and everyone was friendly. While waiting on our food we noticed there were at least 6 empty tables and only one other couple at the bar, which was pretty much the capacity until we left so I'm not sure where the long wait came into play that was turning away customers. I am glad we did not leave because the food and service was good. read more
