Vinyl Taco has a really cool interior with a fun, laid back vibe. We started with the raspberry margaritas, and they were refreshing and delicious. Every taco was fantastic, and I'd order all of them again. If I had to rank them, I'd go Crispy Fish Taco, BBQ Chicken Taco, then Buffalo Chicken Taco. The fish taco was my favorite, but buffalo fans might rank theirs differently. Overall, I highly recommend Vinyl Taco. Great food, great drinks, and a great atmosphere. I'll start with the food. I ordered 2 Fish Taco's with side of rice and beans. The taco's were okay. rice & beans were bland. I did not taste any type of salt or seasoning. Mid at best. Its definitely not Latino's making that food in the back, I'll tell you that much. No bottle of water to go. Has to be in the glass. The waitress wasn't too warm. She wasn't mean but just wasn't too nice for a waitress. Dark, goth type chick. The place seemed dark as far as environment. Definitely wasn't good vibes in there. And don't make a mistake by bringing kids. They wont serve you. Only take out. They won't even let you eat on the outside seating area with the kids. 21+ should be a club venue by the way. Not a taco bar. Supposedly it's bc of the liquor license & the way the state is set up. Its very stupid if you ask me so definitely don't bring kids. This place is not kid/family friendly. But either way if Im on a girls night out/adult women only, I wouldnt come here. No shade to Fargo, ND, but what comes to mind is a dreary, cold, dark, kinda boring city thanks to the show that put y'all on the map. But what I found was a vibrant nightlife scene with lots of clubs, bars and restaurants just like Vinyl Taco that had so much flare, spirit and style! I loved the fact that the menus were freaking records! I loved the throwback decor of when diners took over restaurants corners everywhere and the fact that their food was ON POINT! Inexpensive too! Atmosphere/Appearance: Vibrant, energetic, welcoming and most of all fun! Service: I couldn't remember who took care of me, but I had no complaints. Food: The margaritas were pretty freaking cool because they come in a variety of sizes, but you get one size cup. So you just get big jars of extra that you can continuously pour up all on your own! The flavors were abundant and very tasty. From the chips and salsa to the high-quality gourmet tacos, everything was absolutely on point and I loved it here. Value: It IIISSS Fargo, ND, but it's high quality Mexican fare so... this place definitely won't break the bank at all. We were on our way home and it was getting late. Though neither of us were terribly hungry, we knew we'd be starving by the time we got home if we didn't grab something. Since you can eat as little or as much as you like here, with the Alacarte menu, we stopped here. From what I can tell, prices are up 20-25% since our last visit. I had 2 tacos, the hubs had 3 & we ordered chips/guacamole, with waters. It was about $42, before tip & we left satisfied. The pork belly taco was under-rendered, leaving it a tad gooey, if you will. The guacamole was OK at best. The fish taco was delish. The service was subpar but not the worst I've had. We were given water on arrival, order taken, food dropped & check popped on the table. You might not think Fargo and Foodie rhymes (because it doesn't). But believe me, when it comes to Vinyl Taco - Fargo is at least synonymous with delicious. My first visit was with a bunch of NDSU friends. I may have been baptized in tacos not in an entirely sober mindset... But then every time I passed through Fargo I had a new excuse to stop. I'm not sure I want to try anywhere else in the city honestly. Why be disappointed when greatness is right around the corner? I could crush any of the "traditional tacos" - especially the chicken tinga and the barbacoa. But the specialty tacos are where it is at. The buffalo chicken and the cilantro lime chicken. YES! Starve yourself to try every single one that catches your eye on the menu. I think some people call it intermittent fasting... I call it Vinyl Taco prep. I'm not here often, but when I am. My wife and I love this restaurant. It's a great place to go whether you're looking for a pregame snack, a full meal, drinks with friends or coworkers, or anything in between. Their tacos are delicious - we usually get a fish taco and a chicken tinga taco, and then add on whatever sounds good from there. Their house margaritas can be purchased in sharable pitcher size, making them cost effective on a limited budget. They have a pretty good supply of tequilas too, as well as in-house designed cocktails if that's more up your alley. We also like their chips and queso, which is unlimited chips with a bowl of queso and is delicious. It's particularly great for happy hour or for a business meeting. The restaurant is small, so it can fill up quickly during peak hours, but is absolutely worth the wait. The staff are pretty attentive and service is good. Absolutely would recommend you go at least once. read more

I was visiting Fargo with my dog and looking for a dog friendly restaurant. They have a patio out front that is dog friendly. The server offered to bring water for my dog, which I appreciated! I'm really impressed! Downtown Fargo has a lot of upbeat and charismatic eateries, and Vinyl Taco is certainly one that holds down the fort and carries the team! Their food, one word: awesome. It's Tex Mex, but they do it rightttt baby! The menus are laminated onto records which is so neat, it really sticks with the "vinyl" theme. I had the mango tacos here and those were absolutely my favorite thing! But everything else I've tried has been top bar too- the chimichanga is another worth mentioning! Inside, there's low lighting and loud music, so it could almost be a romantic vibe but just not quite. Decorations are pretty outlandish but like I said before, it all works into the theme. One warning is that Vinyl is superrrr popular. They are a "seat yourself" establishment, so if you get there at peak meal time and have more than 2 people you will most likely end up waiting or have a lot of trouble finding seats. My friend and I came on a weekend night around 8, and it was so packed we just decided to leave and go somewhere else. It really does get that busy. A very neat little place in Downtown Fargo that spins vinyl records right at the end of the bar. I sat right in front of this setup and can't imagine there are many better spots. For food, I started with the chips and queso. Sadly, it was on the bland side. Maybe adding in the sausage would be worth it on a return visit. I tried a variety of tacos. Most of them were pretty solid. Of the ones I tried, the pork belly was very unique and a 4/5. The crispy fish taco had a ton of flavor and was like no other fish taco I've had. I'd also give it a 4/5. The shrimp taco was decent but nothing exceptional (3/5). The one letdown was the buffalo chicken taco (2/5), which was surprising since I love buffalo sauce. I was really excited about coming to this place. I went for lunch during a weekday and the bar area I sat at was dirty. Place was pretty quiet when I walked in. Few tables taken outside and a few inside, that was it. The manager just walks around and does not engage anyone or seem to do anything. He even forced me to wait for him to walk by when I arrived as a paying customer because the back bar area is narrow when you walk in. Classy dude. When I asked him, since he was standing there doing NOTHING behind the bar at one point and the only employee on the floor, if he could get me something to wipe the bar area. Instead of being a team player and being a setting example, he literally walked away and went and found the bartender to then bring her back to wipe the counter instead of just doing it himself or him handing me something to wipe it with. I was so disgusted with his laziness, what a s***tty example of a manager. I was so put off with that as he made a bigger deal than he needed to. He made a scene and caused more energy than needed, simply because he felt it was above him. If that was my restaurant I would fire him. You don't welcome customers or offer help, you ignore them and then push off any work on others that may be in the middle of something else. The food was sub par, you serve people in a restaurant on these cheesy cheap thin cardboard dishes, small portions, instead of real plates or something a bit nicer looking. Food is ok. They want to put purple cabbage on everything. No hard taco options, no burritos...They could get a more diverse menu and a better manager that is not so passive aggressive and evidently narcissistic. The bartender was a sweetheart. She makes excellent pina coladas. I left feeling blah. No desire to go back. It's not a cheap lunch for that experience. Seems like the managers and owner make a lot of excuses and bully people. Not sure how they keep four stars when they have so many one and two star experiences. Terrible. The staff congregate in the back on the side by the kitchen. This is a very inviting restaurant with a cool vibe. The interior has everything from a stuffed buffalo on the bar to a real vinyl record player (that actually works). Then the menu is printed on an old vinyl record, what a creative touch. You cannot get much better than that except that tacos were a disappointment. My sister had been talking about taking me here for a while. She said it's 21+ only, but no one checked our IDs. Maybe it's just 21+ after a certain time in the evening or maybe their policy changed. The vibe is so cool! It's a bit dark for my preference because there's so much music memorabilia on the walls that I would've loved to look at better. There's also a vintage coca-cola couch and table set up. If I lived in the area, I could see this being a hangout or going out spot for my friend group. That being said, the food is also good! We got various tacos (the pork belly one and the spicy chicken one were my favs), street corn nachos, and margs. This is obviously not Mexican or even Tex-Mex food. It's very much a hipster fusion taco place. The margaritas were good, especially if you opt for a higher tier one. It's neat that they offer an extra small glass to accommodate people who want to drink less. Service was what you'd expect from a casual, mostly bar style eatery. It wasn't amazing but good enough. It fit the vibe. It also allowed us to chat with fewer interruptions. Tip: I forgot to ask for corn tortillas so all of my tacos were served on flour tortillas. They will check your ID before they can serve you though because they serve alcoholic beverages. There are a wide variety of tacos and beverages to choose from. The place wasn't busy, but the wait time to get the food took a little while, but the tacos tasted really good. It's not the best I've tasted but it still made my taste buds happy lol. The chicken kinda tasted microwaved though. In addition, the shrimp taco didn't taste that good because some kind of sauce in there just ruined the flavor of the shrimp. First joint on my hit list is Vinyl Taco. Not your average Mexican joint, they have crazy creations like chicken skin chicharrones with Habenero BBQ sauce and jalapeño ranch. I had 3 tacos, crispy fish with sriracha tartar sauce red slaw with Serrano pepper and avocado salsa. pork belly agridulche a crazy fried slaw and au jus was delicious. Crispy chicken and mango that says it all. Well almost all... they play entire albums start to finish of your classic rock favorites. I heard CCR, Clapton, and Aerosmith during my dinner.
