If you get seated in the bar area, expect longer wait times for service and I got that, but flippant and dismissive I did not get. I support local entrepreneurs and a fan of this restaurant but this past Sunday breakfast left a lot to be desired. The service is good, atmosphere is clean vibrant and quite pleasant. However, anyone who eats breakfast knows Eggs Benedict is any form or fashion requires a soft boiled egg , i.e. to some extent runny. Mine was simply 2 hard boiled eggs atop a mound of sausage without any accompanying sauce, peppers, or menu description. Something happened in the kitchen I guess. A momentary laspe? This place is a great addition to West st. Tammany. The place is super clean and the staff is amazing. The food quality is excellent. I've eaten here about 10x now and have never had a bad experience. I have been to the restaurant several times and the service and food has always been good. However, I find that the atmosphere is very different on certain days. On Fridays when I'm off of work, I am welcomed into the restaurant and the hostess is gracious and always smiling. On Sundays, I have found a very different atmosphere. I was at the restaurant on Mother's Day and this past Sunday. The hostess was rude and aggressive telling people to "Take a Seat". My grandchildren commented that she was angry when she thew a magazine on the bench where we were sitting. This is not an atmosphere that I want to subject my grandchildren to. First, let me start by saying that Kayden was beyond amazing. His level of customer service was top tier. His personality is so welcoming and genuine. Had a wonderful experience trying The Toasted Yolk for the first time! The place has a ton of seating both indoor and outdoor with a bar. We were greeted with the most friendly staff and the service was great. Our food arrived hot and timely but most importantly was absolutely delicious! Lots to choose from on the menu, we opted for the blueberry donuts (didn't get a pic), the toasted yolk breakfast w/ hash brown casserole, the apple granola French toast, and chicken salad sandwich with a cup of chicken tortilla soup. First time at toasted yolk and did not have the best dining experience. Bartenders: I know they are busy and have to make drinks for the restaurant while taking care of guests at the bar. We had to ask for everything that we wanted and needed. I do not like having to wave people down to get something. Also, the bartenders did not seem very professional. Food: After 40 minutes of waiting, my food came out cold and my wife's order came out wrong. High hopes for trying this place for the first time, but it was very underwhelming. Arrival: my suggestion is regardless what time you go you get on the waiting list via Yelp or their website. The place was very busy and the people in charge of seating were confused most of the time. Regardless, it was about a 15 minute wait which isn't too bad. Seating: Once seated, a few negative things jumped out immediately. Our table hadn't been wiped down and was quite sticky and gross. Additionally, there were two sets of silverware that needed to be replaced because of dried baked on food stuck to the forks and knives. I notified one of the staff and they came to wipe down the table better and replaced the silverware sets. Server: Terrific, in fact the bright spot of our experience. She did the best she could and was timely with refills and the order. Food: By far the low point of the experience. Four of the five orders came out at once but one of the orders took nearly 10 minutes to finally be brought out. Two of the initial four orders that were brought out were hot. The other two were barely lukewarm. This tells me that it is a kitchen issue and not a server issue. She apologized for the other order not being brought out at the same time and did the best she could. My dish, The Arnold, aka eggs Benedict, was not good. The English muffin halves were not toasted. The poached eggs themselves were barely cooked enough. I would say just safe enough to eat. When I broke the yolk it ran everywhere and that should not happen with a poached egg. The hollandaise sauce was OK. Cheese grits were the best thing on the plate. My son ordered the fried chicken sandwich. He normally eats everything on his plate, but could barely get through half of his sandwich. This was because there were entirely too many shoestring onion rings on top of the chicken and they were VERY greasy. Everyone in my family ate about half of their order because of the lack of quality in the finished product. You may be asking at this point why not just send it back? The answer is, we had waited long enough, the delivery was inconsistent, and the quality across-the-board was not leading us to conclude that it would only yield the same result. I feel like giving them two stars is generous, and the only reason I didn't knock it down to one is because they are still relatively new and perhaps need a little more time to sort things out between the kitchen and meal prep. There are far too many good breakfast places in this geography and I don't think we'll be back unless they are able to consistently build their reputation up. read more

The chili was nasty and gave me indigestion. ....it was mostly composed of old uncooked red beans with very little meat. isn't chili supposed to be composed of at least 50% meat or more.?
