I love thrifting and I'm good at it - it's true . I went to The Toggery, I think, a long time ago. On Saturday I was in the Broadripple area on a hike. Since I was in the area I decided to stop by and check it out again after so much much time. I walked in, they were not very busy, and only 3 others shopping. I believe there were 3 people working. I didn't receive a greeting and the way the store is arranged; a greeting is VERY EASY and an obvious way to conduct/promote business. The store was neat, tidy and organized. I looked throughout the store and only found one item that enticed me to pull out and look at. They were a denim Capri type pant - cute but too expensive imo. On a positive note they had some great high end designer shoes in the glass cases I thought were well priced - none my size. Parking is ample. Location is accessible. Pricing overall a bit high considering styles and brands. And imo a greeting or some sort of interaction would go a long way.

It has been a long time since I shopped at this store but I stopped in the other day. My mom and I were out shopping and stopped here as she was looking for a dress for an event we were going to. The selection of clothes was pretty extensive and they had all of the sizes it appeared. These are all consignment clothes. It appears the longer they have them in the store the lower the price gets. They also had shoes and boots and a few hats and scarves. With it being a consignment shop I imagine the selection changes quite often. We will stop again when we are back in this neighborhood.

"The search is over..." OMG. I had so many girlfriends constantly raving about this place, but only just made it in for the first time. Hello, dear friend. I had a great time touring their well-curated and organized store. Prices were totally reasonable and I was able to score a few items I had been searching for--with original tags still attached. Gotta love that. I'm planning to make an appointment to sell some stuff here too. I love how they clearly don't accept just any ol' crap. Everything looked clean, new, or near new and this will be my go-to when I'm hunting for a very specific piece, as this is just the kind of place where you'll find that hard to find item. I'd been looking for a black bolero sweater to wear with a certain skirt and found a brand new one from Talbott's in my size. #winning.

Let me admit -- I remember hearing about The Toggery waaaaaaaay back when and I had always thought it was a place for little old ladies to shop. Man, was I wrong. Recently I had a friend text me while shopping there to let me know that she had hit the jackpot on one of my favorite brands of exercise clothing. Mental note -- go check this place out. While passing The Toggery this weekend, we stopped in. Unbeknownst to me, the hubs asked the lovely little lady working if they had any of my fav brand in stock. As I caught up to him, Tiffany was arriving with an arm full of workout clothing goodness! Talk about the amazingness of having a personal shopper! WOOT! I was able to find some good stuff in good shape for about 1/3 of the retail price. Score. An added bonus is that the store is well organized -- by item and size. You still get the thrill of the hunt without having to dig as much. I would be remiss if I did not encourage you to check out the 75% and 50% off racks immediately inside the door. Scored some cute designer jackets and sweaters for like 7 bucks. Later we learned that Tiffany is the manager there and she absolutely went above and beyond for us -- despite the store being busy on a Saturday afternoon. I just wish she would have let me buy the cute hat right off her head. We will be back. Well, maybe I will leave the hubs at home next time.

If you do not know Laura Walters at Style Riot you are missing out on an amazing person! She was at her usual Monday spot, The Toggery. Laura helped me style ELEVEN amazing Spring pieces for under $150! Seriously, check her out! I love the Toggery for their stylish pieces and great prices.

The thrift store is opened to the public and sells mostly clothes (women's, men's and children's ) and shoes, with also a bit of vintage jewelry and women's accessories. I like rummaging through thrift stores and looking for unique vintage items. The volunteer staff is super friendly and helpful. Changing rooms are available to try on clothing. The small shop is well organized. Prices are very reasonable and proceeds benefit the food pantry. Jewelry was marked half price during my visit. I found a stunning artisan necklace, which I regret not buying. The shop is located behind the church and there is plenty of parking. Second Treasures will be open about 10 hours a week with a particularly focus on supporting the needs of its Washington Township neighbors. It's patterned after the church's popular Bazaar and Clothing Sale and will support the work of the church's Women's Ministry. A good majority of the items are donated by church members and will be staffed by volunteers from the church. It's located at the North end of Second's Mission Suite (outside the Northside Food Pantry). The thrift store is opening to the public on Tuesday, April 23rd, and will be open on Tuesdays (12-3pm), Wednesdays (3:30-6:30pm), and Saturdays (9:30am-12:30pm). I was pleased with the items available and the prices at which they were marked. Clothing, of course, is quite popular here and there are items for men, women, children, etc. While you won't mistake this non-profit, church-based thrift store for one of the behemoths in terms of selection, this is a really cool idea for a great cause. Today's soft opening/open house was a great chance to get a feel for everything to be offered and how it all will work. Cash and credit cards are accepted. In terms of accessibility, there's plenty of accessible parking and doorways are pretty decent. This is on the first floor and accessibility should not be an issue. 5-stars might be a tad generous given the simplicity of the project, however, I'm always a fan of true non-profit, mission-based efforts and I'm anxious to see this one grow and truly support the Washington Township area.

SoBro Vintage Market is probably right on that line between what would be considered SoBro and Broad Ripple, though it undeniably carries a SoBro vibe. In case there's any doubt, this is a vintage market. The vibe tends to change here from visit to visit, though I'm not going to say I actually frequent the place because, quite honestly, it's not always particularly wheelchair friendly. Some of this stuff is vintage enough that I don't want to take a chance on breaking it with my chair. You can get art here. You can get music here. You can get clothing here. You can get some furniture here. If you look up this place on social media, you'll see that they actually have "& Curiosities" in their name - that's appropriate because they have quite a bit that I would simply call "curiosities." Prices range from "great deal" to WTF?" It seems like when I've been here, I've always seen quite a bit that falls into mid-century. That's kind of appropriate considering an awful lot of SoBro would fall into that era (including my home - a 1955 California ranch). When they are open, they are known for putting some items outside (which is how I finally stopped - I saw a wonderful retro dining room table that was to die for). People are friendly and knowledgeable. I honestly don't know a lot about the place, other than I find it to be ultra-cool, and I've never stopped by that I didn't see something I'd want (and will sometimes get). If you're into the vintage scene, SoBro Vintage Market is definitely worth a visit. If you have mobility issues or are a wheelchair user, just be aware that sometimes it gets pretty tight inside and you'll want to exercise caution.

The Wild Goose Exchange is a cool vintage store / thrift store that started in Wisconsin, but they branched out and now there is also a store in Indy. I can't be arsed right now to find out why it's called The Wild Goose Exchange, but there are cement geese in the store -- you know, the kind that your grandmother has that she decorates for each holiday -- which is a cute and whimsical touch. This store has everything: women's clothing, men's clothing, accessories, shoes, jewelry and lots of hats. No kids' clothing, though. I saw a couple of graphic tees that I wanted, but I ended up purchasing an electric blue corduroy jacket, which will be perfect for the fall weather coming up. They have so many jackets here. This is the place to find something old and used to cover you up. The prices are great, considering. Sometimes, vintage clothing can be marked way the heck up. But the prices at The Wild Goose Exchange are fair. They also curate their stock really well! As I was scanning the racks and pawing through the clothing, I could tell that the items in the store were intentionally chosen. All of the items here are straight-up hits. Because The Wild Goose Exchange is located on Broad Ripple Avenue and there is no street parking, your best bet for parking is in back of the store, near the Vogue Theatre. If you park there, you can either enter The Wild Goose Exchange through the back near The Vogue, or walk around to the front. Two options for entering!

Yeah, I probably am. Anyway, that fun little bit aside that review made me want to make a stop to visit this new joint that I'd noticed but no really paid attention to. I'm not exactly the vintage shop targeting audience. After all, I AM vintage. Sigh. The Wild Goose Exchange started with spots in Appleton and Kenosha, Wisconsin and is now recently opened inside this Broad Ripple avenue storefront that is a little tricky to find and park for but definitely worth the effort. Vintage shops are a little weird for me. I like bargains, but I also feel like if it's too much of a bargain I start thinking it's just plain cheap. It's a fine balance. The Wild Goose Exchange really seems to find that balance quite well. They carry men's clothing, women's clothing, accessories, hats, watches, jackets, and a little bit more. As Nicole S. points out, this seems remarkably well curated. Don't be thinking this is your average thrift shop. It's not. It's also not really a pretentious vintage shop either. It feels communal with a strong emphasis on collaboration and giving back. The entrance is a little tricky in terms of accessibility, though it is what I'd consider accessible. The interior is definitely much better. I've always liked this spot and they use it well. As should be obvious, "wild goose" is a theme here. Hear me out. If you visit their website, there's a lot of "Where's the wild goose?" While I have zero clue why they went with this theme, I kept thinking to myself "wild goose chase" - which is, in fact, a fairly vintage saying. While I don't have a fashionable bone in my body (c'mon, you know it's true if you've met me), I really dug quite a few things here and items were in good condition and fairly priced. Parking is always a little tricky in Broad Ripple, but I find once I do it it's much easier than I expected. The Wild Goose Exchange feels like it belongs in Broad Ripple and I'd love to see its arrival trigger other arrivals around this area. For those who remember how Broad Ripple used to be, The Wild Goose Exchange brings that memory to life in its atmosphere and unique, inspired selections. I enjoyed this visit and will definitely return.
