I love Tracks! Not as much as I used to, but I love it nonetheless. I used to drink here often with my old best friend. Fond memories of bloody marys and arcade games and pornography in the bathrooms. Do they still have porn gracing the bathroom walls? Somehow, I imagine they must. Due to disconcertingly clear memories of gym class humiliation and the huge quantities of marijuana resin clogging my lungs I try to avoid exercise in any form, but the volleyball courts look fun and on most warm nights can be found full of people with less debilitating mental and physical hang-ups. The bartenders are so friendly and familiar, matching the atmosphere which is definitely come-as-you-are-no-dress-up-required. Black-Jack Burger = Amazing. Went for Monday Night Football with some friends. Had no problem securing a table, but apparently it can get crowded during Packer games. They had $1 Schlitz beer but a couple of us opted for the $4.50 steins. Decent menu with lots of options for all palettes (ie. side of cottage cheese, any one?) Props to our server who was very friendly, attentive, and sassy. Would've felt better about the place had it not been for the porno pics in the bathrooms (maybe that's your style?) or for the bar fight that broke out after the Bears beat the Vikings. Tracks. Man....this is my go-to bar on those occasions when it's 12:30am on a Friday and I'm still in the mood for some drankin'. It's one of the few bars around that isn't crazy busy that late at night, which means I can stop in and get a drink right away. If I had to guess, I would say that the majority of Tracks' business come from the volleyball leagues that are frequent during the early evening, so by midnight there isn't a capacity problem. The crowd at Tracks is pretty diverse. You have college kids and post-college Riverwesters all the way to the grizzled old regulars. Everyone there is usually pretty jovial and they are simply there to drink and be merry. The bartenders are always laid back and accommodating. While the bar area is the most crowded place, I like to hide away in the dining room or , weather permitting, go out onto their big patio. It's not the prettiest patio, but who cares? It has chairs and tables, so it works for me. I'm there to have a conversation with good friends, not be seen. The bathrooms here always crack me up, because they have different pages from nudie mags stuck into a display case on the wall. So while you drunkenly tinkle you can read about 'Kaylee' and convince yourself that a girl like her would totally be into you. Tracks does serve food and the menu is above your average pub grub. The Riverwest burger is tasty and worth a try. They also have a Friday fish fry. While the food is good, it can sometimes take a while when it's busy because the tiny kitchen has a hard time keeping up. The overall atmosphere at Tracks is unassuming. It's not trying to be anything other than a space to hang out, so keep that in mind if you decide to give this place a shot. read more

This a great bar, nothing fancy but it's clean with a decent tap selection and great happy hour deal. The decor is great and super MKE-centric. The food is decent (with great and super cheap tots) and reasonably priced for bar food. All of the bartenders and servers are friendly and helpful. Plus, parking is convenient. read more

I'm leaving a five star review because this is great food for the price and great service! Try the sriracha chicken strips. I love the fish tacos. Soup of the day can be hit or miss but you can't go wrong with an order of tots. My boyfriend has gotten the WAR burger, fisherman's fish fry, iggy pop, onion rings and nachos. Horrible meal today. Went in at 2pm. The place was dead. Our male server came by and took our orders: 1 chowder,1 soup and cheese curds, along with 2 fisherman's delight. Soup and curds came our about 15 min after ordering. Both soups were body temp. After 15 minutes they sold be at least 140. Curds were great. Platters came out and the cod wasn't beer battered anymore. They changed to corn meal. Blah. Shrimp was frozen and fried...ugh. The perch was mediocre. The service was fine. It wasn't his fault the food was super sub par. Paid $55 on a $42 tab. Improve your food. read more

I get it now. This place is a melting pot of all past, present, and future residents of the East side. So you used to be cool in college, but maybe now that you are in your 30's or 40's and want to play some volleyball, you prefer to hang out somewhere that isn't full of douches or inundated with bratty children. The Tracks is your place! Perfectly situated on the edge of Riverwest and on the edge of the UWM neighborhood, it is perfectly situated for those who might have one foot in their past and one in the present. Although I'm probably twice the age of most of the people here, I don't feel out of place. I started coming here for the volleyball league this summer and have realized that there are plenty of peeps just like me; white collar by day, Pumas by night! Recently I've fallen in love with the Sirhacha chicken tenders and righteous tater-tots, all at up-north cheap-ass prices! There is a huge parking lot, a large dining area, and side-boob pics in the men's can. There is even a sweet fire-pit on the patio. Don't forget about the three volleyball courts! Wow, what happened? Read my original review from 10/18/12 after you have read this one. Like Night and Day, is this the same place? My wife and I have been going to The Tracks since Y2K and never a bad experience. We even brought other folks and won them over, but Wednesday night was a great disappointment. Although our first, we still don't like paying for disappointments. Being railfans, not the boozing but train types, I invited HighIronofWisconsin, the foremost YouTube railroad videographer and a seasoned veteran when it comes to fish fries to join us. We didn't realize it was Trivia Night, but lucked out getting the last four-seat table. Few in the room however were ordering food and I should have known something from that. Receiving our menus, the prices for Wednesday & Friday specials had all been raised a dollar, on top of a previous dollar raise in 2011. This pushes The Tracks into a pricy experience for most of us. As railfans sitting in a unique setting surrounded by all that railroad memorabilia, it would still would be worth it if the food was satisfying. Unfortunately, it was not. With two fish fries ordered, both were equally overwhelmed by too much breading and too little fish. You almost needed a hammer to get through the breading and what was there was enough for a Pigmy. My shrimp was fine, but now $9, ugh! Is this the end of The Tracks for us? We're probably give it one more try, and hope management not only reads my two reviews, but does something about it. i thought this was one of the best fish frys that i have had since living in milwaukee... what i really liked about it was that the batter stayed on the fish really well and it wasnt too thick. sometimes you take one bite and the entire cover will come off. then you are stuck with the decision to eat the batter alone, eat the fish alone, or just try and connect it back together... i didnt have to worry about that here, and that made me happy... i think they had some good drink specials as well... read more

The only time I've been to The Tracks was for a take-out fish fry, and really, this was what a fish fry shouldn't be. The fries were mushy and overly salty, and the fish was tough, almost rubbery. I also had to wait almost 20 minutes from when I was told my order would be ready. The outdoor seating looked like fun, and if I ever go back, I will definitely try something else from the menu. read more

A great looking bar of old Milwaukee stock. The seating and inside is unique with small ceilings and so forth that I am bias for and of course this is an area one can bar hop to various drinking locations. the service was excellent as the bartender was appreciative of any business even to outsiders and this is an overall nice looking sports themes house bar in River West. read more

I moved from the East Coast to Milwaukee recently and have been impressed with how nice the people in the Midwest are. I have not had any negative encounters with rude people until I went to Tracks. The service was mediocre, the waitress with the long blond hair was not nice to my friends and I. We waited over 20 minutes before we were offered to be serviced, at that point we decided to leave. She gave us attitude and really disappointed me. I will not be going back to Tracks to have fun and enjoy casual food and casual drinks. However, if i ever feel like i miss middle-school/mean girls drama then maybe id consider going to Tracks. read more

This place is underrated. I'm not the biggest fan of bar food, but I think this is some of the better bar food available - and the prices are reasonable. Their cheese curds are my favorite in Milwaukee, and their Buffalo chicken wrap is great as well. Service can be hit or miss, but it's definitely a place worth checking out. read more

Pretty sure I might be the only person to have ever entered the doors in a wedding dress at our wedding a-bar. That's how much we love this place. We're Riverwesterners, so this is our local watering hole, and we're big fans. The food menu is full of well-done staples. The beer selection is on point. We always enjoy trying the beer of the week. At $3/pint, who can go wrong? And the staff are friendly and do the job right. We're there at least once a week for trivia (the best trivia venue in the city, IMO), and it's a great spot to watch the Packers or Badgers. Best all around bar in the city. read more

Was in town from Canada visiting a few friends and they brought me here,I'm really glad they did! Great food, great service And the patio section is great to sit back and watch a packers game. The tracks is one of my favorite places to take friends from out of town, or from other parts in Milwaukee to give them a feel of the friendly, relaxed, but tasteful side of Riverwest. I love all their burgers, and while I don't eat out often, I make it a point to try different things on the menu everytime. So in thr last three years I've had every burger they serve, and now don't know what to do since they're all my favorite. The environment is a little dark, which is expected for a sports bar, but if you hit it at the right time and get a patio seat it is a lovely dining experience. I also think the price is a really fair, cause they give you an obscene amount of food for what you pay. My eyes are always bigger than my stomach, so I'm quick to eat my whole basket, only to feel it sit in my belly later and forgo my next meal sense I'm so full. read more

LOVE the entire food menu here. A good happy hour as well. However, I have been there approximately 20 times and the service is almost always incredibly slow. This is especially frustrating when they are not busy. I called in a food order during a non-busy time and showed up 30 minutes later. I had to wait ANOTHER 20 min after I got there. We had just left my daughters college a couple of blocks away and were looking for a quick fish fry. Lots of places had The Tracks listed so we went here. It looked like a spiffed up dive bar. The dining floors appear to have just been refinished. Still shiny from the stain and clearcoat on them. In the bar the tall top tables are suppose to fit 4 people but the tables are so small you can only fit three comfortably. Plus the tables were on wheels so the table moved around quite a bit. We moved to a lower table in the dining room and then ordered. My wife and I ordered baked, MIL fried, daughter had grilled cheese and son a burger. No complaints from any of them but next time I would stay away from the baked. It is pollack not cod. Pollack pieces are just smaller than a cod filet and they were crumbling by the time they were plated. Nothing wrong with the taste cod just seems a tad bit firmer and holds up to baking better than pollack. No potato pancakes, just fries or tater tots if I remember correctly. A very small piece for marbled rye and a solo cup of coleslaw. It was filling and nothing wrong with it. I was just expecting more after seeing it listed in several lists of places to go for a Milwaukee fish fry. They have few signs that state their Happy Hour. When I inquired about it I was told it was just for draft beers. Didn't cover our bottled beer, Brandy Old Fashions or after dinner drinks. Why advertise a Happy Hour that only provides one special. The bar area seemed like it could be a fun and lively place for people spend some time. Will be coming back to try other food items. read more

August 28, 2014 was the first time in years I've been there. Brought back memories. I ordered a Bloody Mary (excellent) and the War Burger (on a pretzel bun done perfectly excellent as well)! I was there w/my son Jim and our dear friend, Karin. Their entrees were excellent as well. Service was great and we enjoyed our time on the patio. I hope to dine there again in the near future. I haven't lived in Milwaukee for many years, but I recommend Tracks highly for lunch and any time. read more

I've been roaming Milwaukee county looking for the best fish fry and after several recommendations from friends, I had high hopes for Tracks. Unfortunately, these were left unmet. The fish came as a medium sized basket of fries (or tots if you prefer), slaw, 3 pieces of perch, cod, shrimp or combination (i had the cod) and tartar sauce. My first comment must address the wait time. It took nearly an hour and a half to receive the order. This would be expected if it had been busy, but there were only about 15 other patrons inside. Most of which were at the bar only drinking. I found the fish to be quite tough in areas, almost to the point that they couldnt be chewed. The fries were not bad, but nothing special either. The cole slaw, when I received it, was warm and lacked much flavor. However, I must say that for the price of $9 that the amount of food you receive certainly does fill you up. Tracks may be an excellent place to meet friends and play volleyball, but I would pass on their fish fry. read more
