Cassie and Zack were so attentive and kind all evening long! We had an appetizer, dinner and drinks while watching the OSU game. We had a hot pretzel as an appetizer and it was both soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside -- absolutely perfect! Interesting place. It's sort of like The Nomad's weird gentrified cousin. And while I never would have thought I would want something like that, it's not an unwelcome addition to the Cathedral Square/East Town area. The fact that the two establishments are related just leads to some cognitive dissonance. Sport Club is clean and spacious, with outlets installed in the bar and lots of windows. The Nomad has a grittier, Brady-Street sort of charm and is the place I go to cadge matchbooks. But some things, like the overall soccer theme, are the same. Like The Nomad, Sport Club has an impressive selection of beer. There were several interesting IPA's on tap when I visited. There are also decent happy hour specials. The food at Sport Club is oddly impressive. My first impression was that it's fairly upscale bar food with an international flavor. There are burgers and stuff, but also items like a chicken banh mi (which my seat-neighbor said was delicious) and a mezze platter. I could have gone the healthier route, and was also considering the banh mi, but I couldn't resist the salcipapas. It's a street snack from Peru and consists of fries and hot dogs topped with mayo and hot sauce. It was definitely not diet food but it was really good, although salty. Totally forgot to review this place- which is too bad because it immediately felt like my new favorite bar to watch a game. They've made this location look great (lots of wood - windows- a huge center bar) and have diverse crowd (not all 20-somethings) as well as a couple games (shuffleboard and a small putt putt game) There's also a separate room that I'm pretty sure can be rented out. The menu (at least a couple months ago) wasnt huge but clearly well thought out with a little something for everyone. For example, while there's a burger on the menu theres also a vegetarian middle eastern platter and chicken satay. Huge windows looking out on Mason/Jefferson, lots of TV's (including a huge one on the south side of the place, ) and super friendly bartenders - it's a great addition to the Cathedral square area and perfect place to watch a game. read more

While staying at the Pfister Hotel, we stopped by SportsClub on a whim for some apps and a cocktail. The interior is a typical sports bar but the service and apps were phenomenal and they had great 1/2 off happy hour pricing. I highly recommend the wings. SportClub has the promise to be a truly happening spot all around for the Milwaukee food/bar scene. I've been twice and both times was not disappointed in the least bit. They are still working the kinks out but from my experience thus far, they should stay moving up. Everything I've had the pleasure of sampling has been on point. Service. Solid. They have a wait staff that seems to know for the most part, what they are doing. Attentive but not overly and knowledgeable of what it is they have on tap, bottled and coming out the kitchen. To me this is an ode to all things service industry and not be scoffed at. Take for example we came in on a mid-morning and looking for a Bloody Mary. Our tender said they are just putting together their signature mix but that he had enough to throw us something together. He hauled out the spices, the sauces, the juice and the liquor and blended us a concoction that was truly magnificent. Impressed I was to say the least. Especially for throwing the goods down on the fly. Atmosphere. Like no other. Owned by the same peeps that throw down at the Nomad I was super excited to check out this joint. A slight step up from the lovely dive-ish atmosphere of Nomad, SportClub is a hair more grown up but still as chill as can be. Big windows and lots of wood surround the space. It really is a great addition unlike any other on Jefferson St. The food! Woot Woot! Haven't had much but what I have had has been absolutely tasty. In particular, the SportClub dip is amazing. Don't sleep on anything this kitchen throws out. I've been wowed and can't wait to enjoy lunch, dinner or brunch at this spot. We shall see what the future holds for this new establishment. I have been using SportClub for three years to watch midweek soccer twice a week. Everything has been great until the last two weeks. On Wednesday April 16 I went for a smoke at half time of the game I was watching and a bartender named Trevor tossed away what was left of my drink. This had never happened before in all the time i have been using the place. On Wednesday April 23 as he was working again and to prevent a repeat, I placed my drink on the chair I was using. This was just as well because the coaster it had been sitting on had been removed when I returned. I finished my drink soon after and asked Trevor for another. He then disappeared for 20 minutes and upon his return presented me with my bill but no second drink. I had been in SportClub the previous day and served by two other bartenders who charged me $14 before tax for my two drinks but Trevor charged me $9 for one even though I had exactly the same both days. I would have gladly given a 5 star review but this recent experience has made have a drastic change of mind. read more

Seems like a ok place to watch some sports. The beer choice was good but a bit pricey. The food menu was a bit scattered. Like they had pizza and wings but also a lot of more adventurous food. None of it really stood out in our few visits (other than the sC dry rub wings which is probably a great item to grab and go. The seating arrangement and seats themselves don't scream sports bar... high seated benches with no back and a little sore on the back side. There is a pretty cool bleacher section that I'd like to post up in next time. Well the food was good! Serving size was adequate. Everyone liked what they ordered. They had bottomless Mimosas for $20- I didn't have any but the people that did said there was decent amount of champagne in them. The bad part was I think the server was newer and was slow. Our meals came out at different times, some people were done eating before other people got their food. Expensive ($7 for a white claw...) but the atmosphere is excellent and the service was good too. 3 stars because the prices are just too high and the portions are tiny. Large spacious sports bar. Good servers. They have a little side section that when we were there was for devoted Dortmund fans. We were there to watch Liverpool. It's a bummer that there is no sound and that the music plays through the games. I suspect it woudln't be like that for a Wisconsin or Packers game, but since it was soccer, we didn't get the sound. The food is good, but it's pricey, which makes sense because it's the Cathedral Square area. How did we end up here? We were looking for a place to grab dinner and drinks before a Bucks game that wasn't on water street or in deer district. Overall, this was a great pre-game hangout with a relaxed vibe and tons of tvs with sports games on. We walked in and were seated immediately. Tables were reasonably spaced out and if a patron was walking around without a mask, staff gently reminded them about the mask requirement. There was one large group of abut 10-15 people hanging out, but they were spaced out enough/far away from other patrons that it wasn't uncomfortable to be near them within the bar/restaurant. The menu was stacked with awesome vegetarian options. The spinach and artichoke dip was divine. The impossible burger was so-so, but the brioche bun was on point. We also 100% should have skipped the cheese curds. These were more like Culver's curds than traditional WI bar curds. They did, however, let you sub tots for fries for no up-charge (score!) The main drawback was the service (wha-wha). We got set up with drinks and food quickly but, had to wait and wait for to-go boxes and the check. We were just flat out ignored for a solid half hour after it was very clear we were done eating. Also, we sat at the bar and there was a waitress who just stood in front of us staring off into space. Made for an uncomfortable/awkward couple of minutes especially since it felt like we were being started at while shoving our faces. Overall, you can expect a stacked drink menu and to be served piping hot dishes. Just don't be shocked if the service is sub-par and you're stuck waiting and waiting and waiting for that refill or the check. read more

Our visit to Sportclub, a new hot spot downtown near Cathedral Square, was over the top. The servers were friendly, the sports were great, and the food was deliciously different. My friend and I celebrated successfully overcoming health challenges by watching the Bucks game here. We're of the age where taking care of ourselves really matters because we want to be at our best. Sportclub was a great venue to do it because of the delicious, reasonably healthy offerings. We sat at the bar, and our bartender graciously offered to make us a non-alcoholic drink based on sugar free Red Bull. It was fantastic. Yummy with lemon, mint and cordon cherries, it was so refreshing and energizing! We ordered a Mezze platter which was beautiful. Grilled pita, hummus, roasted red pepper dip, salads, veggies, olives and feta. My friend tried a sauce on the side while I added Chicken Satay with peanut sauce on the side. It was filling and healthy. We loved it. Our platter drew the attention of our fellow bar patrons. The couple next to us said they were going to try it, the gentleman next to us admitting he was a one year veteran of a heart attack and needed to restart his choices after too much greasy fried pub grub over the NCAA tourneys. We cheered healthy choices and felt decadent while enjoying the fabulous spread. While enjoying the evening, my friend shared she's going to commit to training for a mini-triathlon over the summer. I couldn't be happier for her. Meanwhile I contemplated my goals for the next 8 weeks. My healthy lifestyle changes allowed to my doctor to kick my 3 shots a day insulin regimen to the curb. Self care and healthy choices during an upcoming stressful work period is my goal. And - let there be cheesecake and dessert in my life cause sometimes ya just gotta! The addition of an innovative sports bar by the Nomad folks, who are nailing it operationally, is a welcome addition to the Cathedral Park scene. Came here for the first time on lunch and the experience was okay. When we first walked in we weren't sure if we should wait to choose a table or just seat ourselves. When we did get sat it took awhile to get a waiter and the bartender wasn't that friendly. We waited patiently and finally got a waiter. He was pleasant but then disappeared after awhile, and I ended up having to go to the bar to get someone to place our order. She wasn't too happy about that. They had good food to choose from and I really enjoyed their salad. There wasn't enough goat cheese in my opinion on the salad so I ended up ordering a side of it. They had a really good variety of tap beers that weren't your typical flavors - dragons milk is what my friend had tried and that was pretty good! SportClub has been open for about 3 weeks now and I am very surprised that there are not more reviews here! Overall, we were very impressed with the place and the service. Went today (a Friday) for lunch and the place was PACKED...like hard to even squeeze through the bar area. The restaurant is big, and they have this really cool faux-stadium seating with tables to the right as you walk in. For food we got the salchipapas (would get again) the meat and potato wrap (phenomenal! The pita bread is to die for) and the drunken noodles (would not recommend - thought they were way too salty, the flavors were not mixed well enough, and the noodles were a bit mushy). A few corporate events were going on while we were there, so it is a good atmosphere for that as well. The service was terrible. 20 mins before the waitress finally showed to take my drink order, another 15 to get the actual drink. Same thing happened to multiple other people at our table. At time, orders/drinks were forgotten about. Mind you there were maybe 12-15 total customers for 2 (probably brand new) waitresses and 1 bartender.
